Ummmm....Is this normal? ...

Hey there.. I am currently 4 days post op lap band and I have been experiencing a lot of diarrhea. The third day I went a couple of times, but yesterday was the worse. I have very painful cramps and really felt sick. Is this normal? Is it from all the drugs in my system...or could I be developing lactose intolerance? Has this happend to anyone? Thanks and Merry Christmas

Yep, Very normal. Comes from the gas, liquid diet, and pain meds.... It will go away with time and firmer food.

Drink lots of fluids. It will pass....

Yes I had that too! There were times were I had it 4x in an hour. I'm currently 10 days post op, it will get better. Once you get into the full liquids, pureed or mushy, your stool will tighten up. Just make sure your getting in enough water to counteract what your losing.

Being 10 days post op I am back to my normal 1x day. It's still on the loose side but nothing like what your experiencing right now. Sorry for the details. Good Luck!!

:smile:Thank you guys soooo much! It is so embarrasing to ask....but I am happy I did! At least I know it will not last forever! Merry Christmas!

That's great to know! I'm having these issues too. I"m 3 days post op and I'm surprised I have to go at all. So, glad to hear this is somewhat normal.

I had one or two days of really loose stool that I think was because of all the extra protein I added very quickly. I backed off the protein a little and things went right back to normal! Right after surgery, though, I was without any "action" for a week! yikes!
