Every time I take in a deep breath or yawn, I feel this stabbing pain in my right lower rib cage. It doesn’t feel like its actually in my lungs bc I can breath just fine but the sharp pain is enough to interrupt my yawn or deep breaths. Anyone experienced this?

It's likely "more potent" bc of your weightloss.

2 days post-op. Not sure I know what feeling full feels like
EndlessGoals#2018 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. Finally got sleeved! At home and feeling ok but still dealing with gas pains. I’ve been an overeater most of my life and now that I am here, two days post-op, I’m afraid to over eat again. Not sure if it’s really possible and it’s more of a mental thing but I’m afraid it’s having an effect on my ability to eat anything right now. Just tried some jello and had maybe 3 bites and that’s it. I don’t want this to affect my nutrient intake and become sick or dehydrated bc I’m not getting enough in. Does that make sense? I don’t know that I know what being full or even being hungry feels like bc I used to eat all the time. And now that I’m having some pain I’m not sure if it’s bc of the gas or bc my stomach is telling me it’s hungry bc it’s had nothing for the past few days. I’m really freaking out! Any advice? I want to make sure this works for me and that I don’t mess it up. Thank you! -
Thank you everyone for your kind words! I’m trying SO hard to focus on the positive changes but when I look at my before picture I can’t believe I let myself get there. I missed reunions and all sorts of events bc of how I felt about myself. I just need to focus on now. Sleeved 8/7/17 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 197 on 1/3/18 5'7" GW: 150

The “no reds” liquid diet is for people about to have a colonoscopy. My mom had just had one when I was getting ready for my liquid diet. I had to ask bc my doc didn’t specify “no reds.”

Gastric Bypass and PCOS/Diabetes
melliecat replied to jmangino's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have/had pcos and it has mostly resolved since the bypass. I have gotten pregnant twice in my life, both times while on low/no carb diets. It seemed to put my body back into a normal cycle lowering my blood sugar and testosterone. Also, most women experience super-fertility within the first 6 months after surgery...many getting pregnant while not planning or expecting they could. https://www.babycenter.com/0_seven-facts-about-pregnancy-after-weight-loss-surgery_1504874.bc Good Luck! -
I had my surgery 12/14/17 and my non scale victory is: I'm down a shirt size, I can now shave my legs, I can but my arms around my back and touch my fingers, my face in thinner and I am starting to have a lap. A little disappointed that I haven't lost size in my pants. 🤔 SW: 356 BS: 341 Last Dr appointment 12/27/17: 321

sstacie707 replied to breprih's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here!! I have the same date for bypass. Where are you getting it done? I’m so worried for my final weigh in next week bc I know I gained like 7 lbs since my previous weigh in in September. -
Need protein powder help!! Surgery tomorrow!
EndlessGoals#2018 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Officially freaking out...surgery is tomorrow morning!!! I’ve been trying to get ready and have most of what I need at home. Ventured out to GNC today to look for isopure (read it’s good during pos-op liquid diet) and wanted to look at some protein powder. I am really worried about getting my protein in and it is all very overwhelming. Interestingly, while I was trying to look at all the options, a couple with a baby came in and I overheard their convo (very small store). The lady explained that she’s always had trouble gaining weight and once she got pregnant and had her daughter (super cute btw [emoji846]) she thought her ability to gain weight would get better but it actually got worse. So the husband cut her off and said they needed a weight gain protein powder and basically after that, the conversation ended up being between the GNC employee and the husband. He wanted whatever had the most and best chance and it didn’t matter how much she had to drink in a day, even though she kept telling him that she would not be able to drink that much. To top it all off, he ended up choosing her flavor and a mix cup (even though she said she didn’t like the color). Sharing bc I was put off by the husbands attitude and felt bad for her. I could be completely wrong here but wouldn’t surprise me if he gets on her about her weight, maybe about not eating enough, her appearance, etc. Most of us are on the other side of that spectrum but it made me realize that we might be going through the same things in terms of insecurities and it was eye-opening. Because I am overweight, I sometimes look at skinny people and feel jealous but didn’t really think about any struggles they might have. Thought I’d share. Anywho! Lol. They left with a giant tub of protein powder and I left with nothing! Lol. I was so overwhelmed with the choices I couldn’t make a decision. So asking for a friend [emoji3] I hope you guys can give me some recommendations of what you’re using. I worry about fat and calorie content and maybe how often you’re using the powder.....and do I really need it?? Thank you!!!! -
We are 2 peas in the same pod hunny[emoji173]️ It’s hard when we regain. And mentally it’s crushing. My hours are 9-1am where I am the most out of control. I work 3-11 and manage to fool my coworkers with my healthier choices. Most of the time I want what I bring, but when I get home my family is all asleep and I’ve got the reigns. Sad actually [emoji24] I was getting pissed at the “ do the pouch reset”. Really? To me that was a bunch of BS,,we don’t have a pouch. But, I eat way to fast. Nursing and a 1/2 hour break? Ya right lol so I’ve eaten fast for ever. Two young kids? Ya, I eat at the counter lol. But I tried slowing down, it’s actually working. For some reason my excuses out weigh my wants for weighloss. But I said “ I’ll start with a salad a day Jan 1”. It’s been nice, so I’m hoping it will all fall into place. One day at a time. Keep us posted, I’m sure I’ll be back to post[emoji173]️ Best of luck, Tracy

Revision Recovery Timeline - Band to Bypass
TX_KB replied to spealex's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had band to bypass revision on 12/22. I was fine by the next day and went home from the hospital. Had no problems with liquids. Was walking around. Only needed pain meds at night before bed and the occasional Tylenol. Was off pain meds by the first week post-op. I had a little soreness but nothing too bad. No nausea. Gas pain was gone by about day 3. I took off 3 weeks from work bc I do 12 hour shifts that require physical activity. I could have gone back at 2 weeks. The first week, the main problem was fatigue and weakness. I took a nap every day. Once I could start eating more real food, I had more energy. I have young children and was able to take care of them the first week. Recovery from this has been better than the band for me. -
Problem with too much weight loss?!
RussT replied to Brayrae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry but we did not all fall off the turnip truck yesterday. Too many inconsistencies in your story. Seems like fiction to me and quite a few others. I don’t enjoy telling people I don’t believe them and I’ve never done it on this site before but your story reeks of bs -
Yes, mine was: Days 1 and 2 (day 1 was surgery day) - clear liquids Days 3-14 - full liquids Days 15 and 16 - pureed foods Days 17-28 - very soft foods Days 29-42 - soft foods Days 43+ - general diet I'm considering starting soft foods this weekend (should start on Wednesday the 17th) bc I've tolerated else I've tried and I'm starving eating only very soft foods.

4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
Prevanwarrior replied to Brandi.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly this story is one I hear often I work as a medical assistant for a bariactric surgon. Around this time patients are often fed up. This is also the time there is more scar tissue so the problem could be a stricture. Having GERD after sleeve surgery is actually very common. And the nutritionist I work with actually recommends not eating or drinking up to 5 hours before bedtime. But it SHOULD get better but if it doesnt it could mean a stricture as developed. If you have a feeling of liquids going down slowly or getting stuck or vomiting then you may want to have your surgeon check for a stricture. Also there is medication for GERD that you should be taking. Hope this helps -
I can’t speak on the BC pills but since I have migraines I was limited in my options - no estrogen. I opted for the IUD because I’m not that great at remembering a pill every day and don’t want to risk it. I like my IUD for the convenience. I don’t love it. I had it placed in September and I bled for 6 weeks...the cramping was pretty bad too because I think your body is like “wtf is this thing? Get out of me!!” I still feel it when I cramp, but it’s not really painful. All in all no regrets. And 5 years without having to take a pill is pretty great too!! I got the Kyleena which is the next size/dose down from the Mirena. There’s also the Skyla which is smaller/lower dose than the Kyleena but only offers 3 years protection.

i wasa told by my nutrionist its bc of the air bubbles ..supposedly they can slowly stretch ur sleeve
-
I was also told a year. I probably won’t likeky stick to that, bc I like to have a drink after work. I’m planning on staying away from beer and carbonated mixers, and sugary mixers. That puts me with wine, or a sugar-free water based cocktail, or a Bloody Mary? Idk. Now I want a cocktail. Lol.

Urgent.. Help with BCBS
Down South Aussie replied to Gotalose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is Interesting, i am with BCBS of CA (Live in SC) and i called BC to ask if first the procedure would be covered and was told it is the same as any other required surgery. I then spoke to the Bariatric center and they pulled up my details and it said i needed 3 months of a diet program, so she told me i would be looking at about 4 months until the surgery. Could it be the specific program you are on? i know BCBS has several different insurance programs so each one may have different requirements, but 12 months does seem kind of extreme. -
One more thing. How much have you lost since surgery? It says 83.9 pounds and I sure hope that is not since surgery bc if so, I will cry lol
-
oh hey, you're singing to the choir I had my surgery on Dec 11 ws 321 on that day. Two weeks late post op I was 307 and I've tinkered from 303-307 since then with current weight @ 305-406. So that means I've lost 1-2 pounds in two weeks, IF That This better be a stall bc if it's not, I will cry, and long and hard Lol We're in this together My name is Joanna. Nice to meet you

Girl, thank YOU. When I saw your face, I thought the same thing.. Makeup queen. You are pretty like thos makeup tutorial girls on youtube Lol We're in this together, you hear me? This, our body, is only our shell We want it to match us, who we are and that's okay. It's not vanity or ego or pride. Everyone wants to feel good about themselves. I used to not ( on account of my weight) the love my late husband gave me made me realize I was beautiful no matter what. The reason I am getting the surgery is bc I want to wearing cute clothes, and I want to not die young. I want to be able to run around with my grand children someday. I want to LIVE. And being withing a normal rage , weight wise is essential for me to do those things. The sexy body is just the icing Beauty, true beauty is what I have now, and you ladies have now. Want proof? Ever meet a gorgeous woman (on the outside) who was soo snippy, ugly and catty towards others less beautiful than her? Or maybe go to a gym and see a delicious trainer who is hot and supposed to be indifferent to customers based on what they look like and just be of the mind to train all, no matter where they're at? Those two types of people are ugly Then you see someone who maybe wasn't born with the prettiest traits or features (thanks to genetics) but they are so helpful, kind, funny, charming, have a cute laugh and you LOVE them bc of their inner beauty? Physical beauty's power is limited. My late husband taught me how to laugh- at myself My therapist taught me something too When we're in our teens and 20's, we're thinking people are looking at our insecurities When we get older and mature and reach our 40's, we realize, people weren't even thinking about us. They were worried about how they looked to other people Lol Summary Our new bodies in near future is our whipped cream, hear me? <3 -
Just got notification from my surgeon’s office manager advising me that I had been approved for revision from Band to bypass. Request was submitted Monday, with approval received today, Wednesday. My requirements were 3 nutritionist visits, psych, and 2 years medical history. I was very surprised at the speed in which my approval was given.

Food Game--Let's Dish!

@Creekimp13 Your lunch looks great! I do like mixing up my protein sources and love Mediterranean diet(s)! (Psst...I also love music and long walks by the sea! hehe) I'm looking forward to the metabolic reset so that I can hopefully eat more legumes again. Right now, they really jack with my blood sugar, so I use them like a condiment. Wish I could have tofu. I'm actually one of "those" who love tofu. LOL. But with hormone positive BC, my onc ers on the side of caution and has me eliminating as much soy interaction as possible. I was gonna make one of my quick green soups for lunch cuz it's so cold here, but Mr. F. is home today and he wanted a roll-up -- so I went with super simple easy peasy. I had a turkey Reuben roll-up with grape tomatoes (sorry no piccy). Took about 5 minutes to throw both lunches together and it will last me about 3-4 hours. (1.2oz Boar's Head lacy swiss, 2oz BH smoked turkey, Grey Poupon country dijon, BH sauerkraut, Walden Farms thousand island with xtra Bragg's ACV) 188cals; 24g protein; 8g fat; 4g carbs; 1g fiber; 3g net carbs @Creekimp13 Did your food interaction/time spent cooking as a foodie (and more purist) get more or less with your weight loss and improved energy/pain levels?
