I hope to lose 10 lbs a month after that first month. I am about 8 weeks out and my losing pattern is changing from that "I'm losing a pound a day" that happens the first month after surgery - to drop 2 and then hang out at that weight for 4-5 days, drop again etc. Stair steps. I would be happy with 8-12 lbs - actually I am happy with losing anything haha!

My doctor told me to expect an average loss of 10 pounds per month. He also was clear that was an average and that each person is different. You reference a 45 pound loss. How much of that is post op? Looks to me like you are above the “average”.

Diarrhea for 2 weeks +
buchannon replied to buchannon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went to the doc and he said he didn't think this had anything to do with my sleeve. I guess a copule weeks of diarrhea is somewhat "normal". He said if it lasts more than a month or if there is blood or anything in the stool it's cause to freak out, but I'm probably just going through a phase. I'm also only going to the bathroom a couple times a day vs 10+ times a day, which is another cause for concern. Anyway - crisis diverted! -
First Post Lap Band Surgery Doctor Visit
Annfargo replied to brendap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I was banded on 11/30 and my first post op visit is 12/19. I can eat pretty much anything right now. I hope I don't get a fill for awhile yet. But we shall see. -
I did. 10 days...you honestly just suck it up and pinch the skin and get it in there. Seriously, just thinking of the possibility of blood clots was enough to ensure compliance.

Congrats Bryn! I like the snarky coworker one- I can relate totally. I have a snarky, jealous coworker. She always looked down on me for getting the surgery-- she would say "I would never get weight loss surgery thats the easy way out" She was about my size before surgery and she is such a jealous snot. She declined all my super cute size Silver brand 20 and 22 jeans because she said they would be "way too big" ha ha ha So I lied and said try these on they are 18's. (they were the 20's and 22's) and they fit her perfectly (even a bit snug) and she took about 10 pairs of Silver jeans off my hands. lol Then I was like ooops I guess these are the 22's. he he he Meanwhile I am wearing super cute 16's yay!

August 8, 2012 Bandster
Rojasanoll replied to SabrinaDollar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW, your surgeon let you eat sherbet and apple sauce. You are lucky I'm still on liquids (clear broth). I was banded Aug 6. My gas disappeared overnight. Heating pad on high on the back for 10-15 minutes. Then relax and before you go to bed put the heating pad on again.I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. Best wishes and Be positive. I would stop the tomato soup (acid) for 2 days and see if it goes away. -

Coutney you look amazing! In just 7 months!! Wow!!! I bet you can't wait to go to the beach this summer all skinny and all that! What is your goal weight and height? Or do you have a size as a goal? I kind of like that idea - some people have posted being a single didget size as goal. I don't know if I'll get that little-I'ld be happy size 10! (from 22-24!) Keep up the great work! -

Do you revise from sleeve to RNY due to GERD?
TiredOfMyself replied to SeattleLady's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was sleeved October 2016. I had horrible reflux daily and was on several meds. I still gagged and vomited up acid daily. I also gained back 25 pounds I had lost. I was snacking all the time because if my stomach was empty I threw up. I had my revision last Monday, September 2019. So far so good. No reflux. -
The insurance coordinator from my surgeons office didn't submit my stuff for approval! My last visit was may 19 and the surgeons assistant said she submitted the task to the insurance coordinator to submit to Aetna and I should follow up in 2 weeks. I called Aetna today to follow up with them and they have absolutely no record of a request for surgery approval for me! Because of my intense work schedule I needed to have surgery the week of June 20th. Now even if they submit today Aetna has 14 days to respond and then there might not be availability at the hospital for that week. I don't know what to do now... I can't afford to self pay!

I was banded on June 1st, have lost 30 lbs since the process began. On average, I walk about 10 -15 miles a week. I've become obsessed with walking. But I feel like a serious failure because I'll get down in the dumps (aka something goes "disastrously" wrong) and eat EVERYTHING in sight, I do it consciously too - which is probably the worst parts of it. It's just like the "old times". :- Any suggestions on how I can avoid this?? Tips, tricks, ANYTHING? Thanks for any advice!

January 2013 Sleevers
icon23 replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm 10 days post-op, but only 8 days out of the hospital (and therefore off of the IV fluids), and I have lost the 9 pounds I put on in the hospital plus 1 more pound. So, 10# in 8 days isn't bad, IMO, and it's my understanding that I'll start to see more drastic results now that the hospital weight is gone. I'm finally just about over the stupid cold I caught in the hospital and, otherwise, I feel great! Having no trouble getting in my fluids, Protein, and Vitamins. Transitioning to purees in a few days--very happy about that. Thanks for asking, AmandaRae. How are you feeling? -

Family Medical Leave Act question
HopeandAgony replied to Careysgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can have multiple FMLA certifications at one time (that expire after 1 year). Each certification should cover one specific illness. Your 12 weeks are per calendar year, and accumulate for all the certifications. For example if you missed 2 weeks due to stress, and you recertify for this surgery, you have 10 more weeks of coverage under FMLA. If a full 12 months advances from the time off due to stress, the days will start to fall off and your FMLA accumulation will replenish (for any current FMLA cases you have open & active). Bottom line is you need a new FMLA certification for this surgery as it wont be covered under your one you got for stress. Hope that helps. Sent from my SM-N910P using BariatricPal -
That is exactly what just happened to me. I have a 10 CC band and went for a fill and they put .3 in it and I knew it was tight but I was able to eat still. When my stomach growled it was uncomfortable and I felt almost nauseous but not really. Not sure what the feeling was but it was uncomfortable. When I went in to dr they did a barium xray and found out my band was too tight and it was backing up and I just did not feel it. My pouch had swollen so now I am on a 1 week liquid diet (which today is the last day thank goodness) and they took out 1 whole CC and I have an appt on the 3rd to go back and we will see how that goes. I had noticed that my stomach was growling and gurgling a bunch but just thought that was my band talking. My PA told me that is a sign on bad being too tight. When she took out the 1CC that all stopped.

Whats The Big Difference? Band And Sleeve?
alexb posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I everyone! I had a band in from '08-'10 and just now had the gsv. I am wondering what are the major differences between the two that those who have undergone both processes notice. I'm only a few days post-op so any head's up would be helpful! -
Taking a Cruise ... help
Sosewsue61 replied to pooh6772's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on a 10 day cruise 3 months out and had no issues with the available food on the cruise, I did not take protein powder with me. You can buy individual packets - like Jay Robb strawberry or orange and a skaker. I took some almonds and my Sip thermos. Three days should be very manageable. -
I am so flipping HUNGRY I can't stand it!!!!!!
Grandma26 replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have days where I am hungry, but I am usually able to work throught them. I only had one fill so far, 3cc's in a 10 cc band, my next fill is scheduled for 9/14/09. Right now my meals are 1/2 cup portions with two 2 oz Snacks a day if I need them, and I average between 715 and 800 calories a day. I average about 65 gr of Protein a day. I found that a warm cup of broth or herbal tea seems to help the hunger, and I try to distract myself. Hang in there!! -

I was banded May 19 also. I have been having feelings like I am going to burp or urp or something. I keep fighting it. I am wondering if the yogurt was getting to me. I haven't ate any today and have only had this a little. I am so afraid of messing up my surgery. Anyone having anything like this?

Hey my July peeps! I had my 2 week post op visit today. I was sleeved on July 21. My starting weight in Jan was 274, surgery weight 263 and today,,,,,,,,,, (drum roll) 253!!!!! Its 10 lbs in 10 days, yeah i will take that. Gosh i cant stop smiling!! 21lbs gone. Thank you Jesus. Woo woo i am so excited!!!! I have no problems eating or drinking water and protein requirements are at 30 for this week. My Doc goes slowly upward to a total only of 45. I have been drinking at least 60oz of water a day. I was always a water drinker only. I feel good except for pain that I am having because I had a lot of scar tissue due to my previous surgeries. He even had to do 6 insicions instead of three. But i am walking and all my incisions are healed. I will be in my pool tomorrow starting slow. I have lymphedema in my legs and the pool helps with the swelling. Another wonderful thing is that i am off all diabetic meds !!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!! Can you tell i am busting???? (Seinfeld: George: I am busting Jerry, busting!!!!) God Bless my woderful surgeon and his team. It does feel as great as everyone says. Hang in there July peeps.....we gonna do great!!!!!
