I found this cellulite treatment here that is $40 per session (whole body) and you need 5 sessions. I am trying to decide if I should do it now or not to help with the loose skin on my stomach and thighs. I have a friend that did it and she looks amazing, except I am moving cross country next month, I shouldn't be dropping $200 on something like this, but I am really not liking the way my skin is looking right now..so back and forth I go.

Losing Weight Without Restriction?
B-52 replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends upon the person...some are very good at dieting. I am not. That's why I needed the surgery to loose weight. -
Maybe one of the nurses on here will reply. I'm not a nurse but if I recall correctly, the tape fell off on its own. My follow up appt they removed the tape or cut the strips that we're loose off and then put a bandaide over them.

Can't get fills - am I relying on band too much?
c7777christine replied to noahsmomm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I Know how you feel!! I had surgery 2-5-08 and am down 40 pounds. I didn't have restriction at all until June after 7 fills. I thought my band was broken. What your going through is bandster hell! It sucks! Having a band and no restriction. You think your going to lose weight the day after your surgery. Wrong! My weight loss has been slow and steady. Now it's better because I'm not starving all the time. I have a 2 year old and no gym within 40 miles. I try to do push ups aerobics anything to move a little around the house more than normal. It is very hard to do anything with a one year old! Especially if your still breastfeeding. Don't be to hard on yourself. I met a new friend in the hospital. She and I email every week. She has been such a support. But it's been hard not to compare. She had restriction right away and was down 100 pounds in six months!! Very unusual for the band. She did out weigh me by 120 pounds but still. So try not to compare. She also has massive lose skin to deal with down the road. What matters is the weight is off for good even if it takes 2 years. Make sure your getting all your protein. Hang in there! Chrissie -
I hope I decide to do it also. I am still reading about this whole thing. I have about 80 pounds to loose. I really need some good advice on what to expect after the surgery.

I had a busy weekend, Saturday was the special olympics that I worked. I worked the softball throw and I was running all over the place keeping up with the special needs kids. I tell you, they may have limited mental abilities, or physical abilities, but they are stars in my eyes. They had so much energy! I was exhausted by the time the day was over! Well, my fill is now again, loose! I just don't understand it. I'm very frustrated, but I will not give up. I just don't know why I'm so different. DH & I went out for steak Friday night,I could have eaten more, but I stopped at about 2 to 3 oz of the steak. I also had turkey last night, and decided to "test" a roll, it was small yeast roll and it went down as smooth as ever, I didn't eat any more, but I know now the PB incident was just a fluke on the toast. I am going to call the doctor and discuss it with him. I'm not going to let this be an excuse to "eat" and I'm still hoping at about 2 or 3 weeks the fill will really kick in. It has done that in the past, so I'm going to discuss it with the doc and see what he thinks. Menu today: Bfast eggs/ 1 sausage link Lunch - salad Dinner - roasted chicken and salad Exercise - 15 min on treadmill - 107 calories .75 distance Exercise PM - Lower body workout - really worked the abs & legs, then jumped on the elliptical for 10 more minutes of pure sweat! Wt - 180.7 - grrrrrr - But TOM is here, has been since last Friday, so he will be leaving soon and I should start dropping again - at least I hope!

Well, it's Feb. now and although I did go down to 187, I am back up to 192. I hate myself so bad. I have gotten 3 fills, and I know the band is there because when I am really hungry, I eat too fast and the food gets stuck, it's very painful. I had foot surgery on Dec.15th and have not been able to exercise since. I can ride my bike now, but it is too cold. I am at a standstill and disgusted with myself. My friend who had her gastric bypass the same day I had this is down 96 lbs. That really made me depressed. I have no will power and really should have gotten that done. I ate right today but ate 2 cup cakes tonight. I pray I can get this right. I am ashamed:think that I did not loose more. My family wonders why. Patti

Hi Joe! I just met a bandster who is an EMT recently. He was taking about three weeks off but after that expected to go back to work full-force. My doc's instructions about exercise and strenuous work are basically that by the time you'll feel like doing it you'll be healed enough and it won't be a problem. Laying on your side/stomach is just a matter of time and healing. I sleep on my left (port) side all the time and while I can feel it there is no discomfort at all. The only time it might be a problem is if you're laying down on a hard surface, but then you could just shift around a little till it's comfortable. By the time you've lost lots of weight you'll be more concerned about your bones sticking out than your port! The port is not at all obvious under my skin, but I have a ways to go yet. If it ever becomes a problem I know there is a smaller port that can be installed, a "low-profile" port. But that would involve another scar so I'm probably not ever going to go there. Of course it's possible to "eat around" the band. Calories are calories, and if you take in too many you won't lose or may even gain. The band makes it MUCH easier, though, to eat healthfully and in appropriate portions. That's really all there is to it. And IMO, the band is perfect for anyone who wants to lose weight and who isn't in immediate need of results. If the patient is willing to see the pounds come off at a measured pace of 5-10 lbs a month, banding is the answer. Measure that pace of weight loss against the risk of complications with other surgeries, and you'll see why we picked the one we did. Good luck, to both you and your mom!

Final Test... Check! Sudden Scares... Check!
Sojourner replied to Tsign36's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I was not apprehensive about the band surgery, but then this was not my first abdominal surgery either. I had to wait so long for the medical clearance for the band surgery, there were no second thoughts to finally having the opportunity to loose weight and get my health back! It is totally normal to have some doubts and concerns about the surgery, and if it is your first surgery to be feeling apprehensive about it. All I can say is that the recovery from the band surgery was a breeze compared with my earlier surgery. All surgical procedures come with some risk factors, but there are so many members on this forum who have done well through the surgery and recovery. Also necessary to consider are the very real risks to your health and well being if you stay heavier and don't loose the weight you need to. Just ask questions, and come back often...you can do this! -

Trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Today I've been banded 7 days and feeling better physically. But my emotions are all over the place. I'm beginning o see the pants get loose and the jackets zipping up easier than a week ago. But I'm mentally so hungry. I actually cried on my way to work today because I realized it's Friday and I won't be able to hang out with my family because I can't eat yet. I mean, technically I could hang out with them, but I don't want to be around food I can't have. I know it sounds selfish and childsh, but it's like this huge part of my lifestyle has been removed and I don't know what to do with myself. When lunch hour comes at work, I just sit there and continue working, just a week ago I used to go with coworkers for lunch and enjoy myself. Now i'm duckng my head whenever someone is eating. And if that wasn't bad enough, my mind is torturing me, I keep thinking about chewing my favoirte meal. This must be what drug addicts go through. I know that this is ultimately good for me, but no amount of talking to your doctor prior to surgery can prepare you for these days. -
Stopped Losing, Help!
rodswife replied to dzsunshine2901's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not doing anything wrong. You aren't going to lose weight every single day. Your body has to catch up. You will go through numerous stalls. You will have times where you lose inches instead of pounds. It's normal. But, you will not see that scale drop daily. Of that, I am positive. You have to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound. Just hang in there and don't worry. It will come off. Slower is better anyway because you have less skin sagging and perhaps less hair loss. -
Try making it ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour blenders add a lot of air in the shake which really irritated my sleeve early on. I used Unjury and skin milk.

I was very bummed and decided not to get a fill for two years. I can't do it I have not lost any weight and I fell bad. I am going to mexico on 9th to have fixed and finally a fill. Hope every thing is still ok. Any find out what is going on and get a fill you did the lap band for a reason use it. I wish you lots of luck -
Conflicting Information - I'm Confused
B-52 replied to MountainMan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In my case, yes I white-knuckled it until the band started to work. I actually gained weight 2 months after surgery, where you only lost 2 lbs. My Dr. said not to worry. He knew I was not good at dieting, self control, etc., and explained to me just how the whole process works. That's why it's referred to "Bandster Hell" Also, the more you have to loose, the more you will drop in those early months. -
I am super excited to be posting this and I made this thread to not only see everyone's nsv's but for people who aren't loosing to come to this thread to get encouragement! Lately my weight loss has slowed down I loose about 1-2 lbs a week here lately before I was loosing anywhere between 5-6 lbs a week.....anyways to make a long story short I've been in a size 16 for over a month now and I went and bought a size 13 before I was even in the 16's because I knew eventually I would get there well 2 days ago I was able to put on those 13's, granted they were tight and made my flabby stomach poke out at the top I was still able to get them on and button and zip them!!! I won't be wearing them out in public for awhile until I can more comfortably fit in them but I just had to share this experience with all of you!

Everyone looses the weight at a different rate but the main thing is people should be proud of even the smallest amount of weight lose as its an achievement that may not have occured without the band. I had my op on 9/3/07... Lost 3kg on pre-op diet and now 5kg in the past 2 week liquid diet phase.

I Thought My Lap Band Port Had Moved.
kristallynn13 replied to m1aman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have found the more weight I loose the more prominent the port becomes. Its all good though. I can deal with it. It is a constant reminder of the positive changes I have made in my life. -
Stuff Coming Out Of Scar
JohannaMae replied to Karma88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/20/12 and the day after my surgery I had fluid coming out of the corner of my port incision. I called my doctor and he said drainage sometimes occurs and as long as there's no swelling and it's not red it should be ok. It would stop and then build up and drain again. Last week I made an appointment because I was concerned of it getting infected. He tried draining some of the fluid with a syringe and a little came out. He said it was a hematoma -collection of blood under the skin from the bruising. As of today a little drainage is still coming out but as the swelling goes down I noticed the bruising is going away and there's less drainage. Just keep in contact with your doctor to make sure it doesn't get infected. Hope this helps. God bless - -

Went in for Bypass and ended up sleeved
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to kimba21539's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First my hubby had a Lap Band for 13 yrs. He had problems with not being able to eat or drink even wagter. So we went to a Bariatric Center of Excellance. He was going to have his Band removed and revise him to a RNY. When they got in the band had eroded into his liver and they couldn't finish the revision. He was deathly sick for 9 months with abcesses and had 5 differant bacterias. He can't remember 3 months. Fast forward to his DR that performed his removal dropped him!! Finally he had a ablation and a wound vac was put in. Last June we went to Mexico and he was supposed to have a RNY but...NOT!! His right side was totally scar tissue so he ended up with the Sleeve. It has taken him a year to finally figure out how and what to do. His mind tells him he can eat more than his body will allow. But he has lost 135#'s!! But he is still sad he didn't get the RNY. Things are ok now he still deals with mind hunger and I think he is figuring it out. May he continue to loose even more weight. Congratulations on your journey. I look forward to your future posts. -
Please don't take this the wrong way. It only been 5 days. The first 10 pounds (maybe more) was water weight. You now need to either burn 3500 cals or cut 3500 cals from your food intake in order to loose 1 pound.! Also some people gain a few pounds from the surgery itself ( from the IVs's).
