    Re-sleeve

I am getting resleeve due to not loosing enough and gaining 30lb back. I lost 65lbs. My doctor would not do it he automatically said gastic without doing test ect. I had it in Mexico. I research it an found a hospital that does it only 3 hrs from my home. I live in AZ now. Going to Mexicali mx . I went there last week had a barium swallow before they would commit to a sleeve. I had my old xrays from right after surgery. Thank God I did. He said the technique they use left the top part really large from surgery. He told me it was not my fault. He said I needed a better tool to work with. So if your thinking re sleeve it depends on the issue. I go may 13 for surgery. Looking forward to the new me. I understand a lot more this time round.

    Gas pain....omg....

OH MY I had skin removal with muscle repair too and it was the worse of all my surgeries! The only surgery I actually used constant narcotics for! I even had my leg cut in half and rebuilt and used no narcotics. I thought I had a high tolerance for pain but damn you go girl!

    1 month results

I can understand that, but not even people who knew I had surgery. In their defense, my clothes are so loose and too big that they really might not even be able to tell. haha Like I mentioned, I only notice it in my face and when I am naked. 🤣🤣

    1 month results

I wasn't really sure how often I had planned to measure. Probably every few months, I can already see a drastic change in face in my body when I am naked. haha I even said to my wife the other day "It's kinda sad to be so fat that you can loose 70lbs and not one person even notice that you have lost weight".
  5. I started out just about where you are. In the same boat, I could do just about anything except run and fit into small spaces. haha I have only lost 67lbs and you wouldn't believe the difference already! It amazes me how I notice every little change as I loose weight but surely didn't notice the changes going up!

    So fed up

How’s the exercises going ? And water intake ? I had a lap band yrs ago and I remember periods if nothing - the body becomes accustomed to the routines. I ate bit more and changed all the exercise routines and I started loosing again. Now I’m on my way to getting a G Sleeve and remembering my past challenges.

    Face & wrinkles

I think genetics and your age has everything to do with this, and there's not much beyond eventual plastics if you want to aim for that. I'm 50, have always had good facial skin and still don't have wrinkles. I have started developing the jowl-lines, though. Almost 8 months out, and my face has slimmed down and my cheekbones are back in business, skin clear and redness gone. I've always maintained a good skincare regime, but it's mostly my fortunate genes and shunning of the sun in my twenties and thirties. Where I HAVE aged post-op is my neck. My god. The turkey has landed! The loss of my double-chin and neck fat is a boon, but the skin there has not bounced back. I very much look my age there. So I could either live in turtle-necks and scarves, or embrace it. I'm embracing it. I look happier, and I think that takes years off too. Even my surgeon was startled when I reminded him of my age, and I had a face mask on! Clearly the turkey-neck was outshone by my clear and sparkling eyes!
  8. Today I am 3 months PO. I did not suppose to eat salads according to my dietician but I had to travel for a couple of weeks and it was not always easy to have access to the food I was asked to have, so, small garden salads were awesome, just added 2 slices of ham or chicken. I had them with Italian dressing or ranch but only a few drops, added bonus was that it has eliminated the constipation completely. I told my dietitian and she was not too happy but she said if it was working to keep going only to be sure to add some protein like shredded almonds, chicken, tuna or turkey ( she said salmon too but I do not like salmon) and to eat the protein first. I cannot stand the pre-made protein shakes, so I make a smoothie with 1/4 banana. one strawberry and 6 blueberries, the last week I have been adding a few spinach leaves and Nopal ( cactus) then I add the protein powder with no flavor. I am loosing weight slower than many others in the February group but I am still loosing.

    May Surgeries - check in!

I don't hit my one year until the end of the month. I keep wondering if I'm at where I'm going to land. I've been hovering around the same weight for about 6 weeks now. I have lost 77 lbs, started at 245, now around 168. (For context I'm 5'9", 49 y.o.) My highest adult weight was around 268..so in the grand scheme, I'm down 100 from my highest weight. I certainly have loose skin - and I have given consideration to getting my stomach and and arms done once things settle. I have still lost inches in the last couple months, so things are still changing. I am prefectly fine if this where I land. I have practically replaced my entire wardrobe, at this size 😂

    blood pressure changes

Mine changed instantly. I was on 2 meds and it was still on the high side (130s/90s). In the hospital the only gave me 1 of my BP meds (I don't know why) and it was perfect so I continued this at home and it has stayed perfect. I am hoping I will be able to loose the meds completely after loosing more weight. I can't speak for the glucose. My only medical issue is the high BP.
  11. Hi guys. I am exactly 3 months post op from yesterdays date and I have noticed my weight loss has come to a stop. I am curious as to wether you guys think it’s a stall or am I eating too much? I got covid 2 months post op , before that I was around 600-890 calories a day. After covid my appetite shot up and I’ve now been averaging between 950-1100 calories a day. if I go under that amount I am hungry and get really snappy. I feel so depressed when I look at other peoples calories 3 months out who average at about 800 and still “ struggle “ to eat. Because I don’t anymore and this surgery was my last option at trying to loose weight and I feel like I’ve failed with this now and like everything I try to help me loose weight nothing will ever work for me. a typical day for me looks like this Pre breakfast- Actimel 0% and a Caramel Latte (58 calories) can’t go without my morning latte. breakfast- varies but lately I’ve been having 2 bacon medallions (79 calories) 2 reduced fat pork sausages (162) heinz beans 80G (58 calories) And spoonful of mushrooms ( don’t count the calories as they are too low to workout) so breakfast is quite a big portion in my opinion lunch- chicken with mushrooms new potatoes and green beans (281 calories) or a folded flatbread (102 calories) with roast chicken inside (62 calories) followed also inside by some lettuce and reduced fat sour cream (35 calories) and a dairy Lee dunker (98 calories) tea - Chicken breast (126 calories ) with Mediterranean veg (88 calories) or Haddock with med veg Or reduced fat beef burger on a romaine lettuce leaf with a slice of RF cheese and lighter than light Mayo. snacks usually consist of light baby bels, chicken satay sticks , the small packs of fridge raiders or an options hot chocolate (38 calories ) some days I hit over 100G protein, carbs I eat between 50G/80G fat is under 40G a day, sugar is always under 20G would love ur opinions tips and tricks guys. for reference my programme/consultant never gave me calories to follow was just to always hit my protein goals and my start weight was 21 stone 9 pounds , I am currently 17 stone 12 pounds and 5’5.

    Feeling fat after vsg

You’re experiencing body dysmorphia. It’s weird because you can logically tell yourself your weight is okay & there is the evidence on the scale, the size of your clothes, etc. But then there is a emotional side which is very powerful that tells you that’s not you. You’re still fat, etc. That is the struggle. It takes time to see how you are now. I’d walk past widows & mirrors & wonder who the slim person was. I’d even look about because the woman was wearing the same clothes as me. I remember staring at a pair of skinny jeans I’d bought because I couldn’t believe I could fit into something so small. You may think I’m crazy but I started to check the weight of actors who were a similar height to me so I would get a better understanding of my physical size. I found it helped. A friend is having surgery soon to remove her excess skin (she has a lot) & has been causing a lot of body dysmorphia issues. She has been seeing a therapist to help how she sees herself but she feels while she can physically grab hold of her loose skin she won’t see the slim person underneath. I didn’t do plastics. Many do. I don’t have a lot of loose skin. It doesn’t restrict me in my movements, cause me discomfort or limit how I dress. It’s a reminder if where I was & where I am now. It’s a personal decision whether you do have surgery or don’t.
  13. I’m 3.5 years out. Well first depends what you define as a stall. I went by the definition whereby: Stall = 7 consecutive days of no net weight loss AND no inch loss in that same period. By that definition, I didn’t have any. There was one week in month 3 when I thought i was going to record a stall, but I ended up losing less than 1 lb that week, and on “measurement day” (for me it was Wednesdays) i ended up recording like tiny fractions of inch loss in various areas. So technically, not a stall. But that didn’t mean I wasn’t semi-disappointed that week and that the familiar fear of regain didn’t rear its ugly head. And wondered, yikes! is this it? Stalls, excess skin and hair loss, the holy trinity of WLS fears. They happen to most more often than not, and become non issues at the same frequency. Stay in your calorie deficit and it’ll come of. You sound like you are taking it in stride though (vs panicking and suffering in angst)…so you are already ahead of the game ❤️ Good Luck! ❤️

    PNW Recommendations?

Thanks for posting all this information ladies! I'm in Seattle and have lost about 150 pounds and I think I'm coming to the end of my journey. Weight loss is very slow at this point - I checked my tracking on My Fitness Pal and have lost about 14 pounds in the last six months. Hence, I'm finally starting to consider skin removal. I have a couple recommendations for up here - one in Tacoma (Dr. Pratt) and one in Seattle (Dr. Salemy). I think I'm finally ready to make the call, and will come back and post prices and information here. I'm also looking at a chin life - surprisingly this is the part I'm most embarrassed about. My family lives in Portland, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a price of $20-25k for the procedures I'm considering. It's only a two hour drive for me, so totally doable if the cost is significantly less than the Seattle Area. I don't know that I'd be willing to travel to Florida - I'd have a hard time asking my husband or mom to accompany me when they'd really just be babysitting and wouldn't be able to do anything but sit in a hotel room for a week. I'd happily pay the extra $5k to not go through that. Also, the flying after surgery. Even a week post-op I'm sure you're feeling better but still not great. I can't imagine going through the airport and a six-hour plane ride in that condition. More to come! Edit - I called DR. Salemy and they wanted a $100 consultation fee. Does anyone else thing that's weird? I decided not to book with them at this time. I was able to schedule a complimentary consult with Dr. Pratt's office (although with a different surgeon, as apparently Dr. Pratt only does face procedures) - unfortunately it's not until August. I asked if they'd put me on a cancellation list if something else opens up.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

That's amazing! Congratulations! The day before surgery I was a 32 in pant size. Now they're falling off and soon I'll be able to fit my 28s again. For now, I'm just wearing some yoga pants that are loose for walking.
  16. That very day I made chicken wings, ate 3 pieces no skin and very little dipping sauce but so satisfying. Definitely let your surgeon know what’s going on, it’s a simple fix if that’s what’s is happening. I haven’t had any issues since I had the egd with dialation on 4/27/2022. Wish you the best, don’t loss hope🥰
  17. Hi guys! I‘m sorry if this is offensive or if this has been discussed many times before on here (I couldn‘t find any threads) but I feel like I’m going crazy and I need to talk about it. I‘m aprox. 7 months post op lost aprox. 120lbs and I‘m nearing the „goal weight“ I had 6 years ago. Logically I should be feeling amazing and I somewhat do. Like I‘m physically able to do a lot more again, which I‘m very appreciative of but somehow I feel fat. It‘s so odd. 120lbs ago I knew I was fat and I wasn‘t able to do certain things but I never felt fat. I felt fine. Now I have a „slightly overweight“ bmi and I feel super fat. Whats going on?!? I didnt do this surgery because I was unhappy with how I looked or because I felt uncomfortable. I did this surgery because my health was starting to suffer and I needed to stop yoyo dieting, which I have done all my life. I always wanted to lose weight not because I thought I had to but because people always made me feel like I did. And I hated being treated as a fat person. So living in a fat body in the privacy of my own home or around friends and family I always felt good. Now I feel disgusting and huge and fat and gross and generally not good. This is solely based on my appearance (I feel amazing physically walking, running, erc.). Why does „fat“ all of a sudden feel bad and why do I feel fat when I‘m much much lighter than I was a year ago? Anyone else have experience with this? Does this go away? I really hope it does. My theory atm is that I‘m in this weird in between stage and I have no idea how my body is being perceived by the general public. I realize this may be incredibly vain but I feel so bad I dont know whats going on. Also I‘m starting to show a lot of lose skin around my stomach, which is giving me anxiety. Maybe it‘s important my stats: 5‘8, SW/HW: 304lbs, CW: 185lbs, GW: 150 - 160lbs

    blood pressure changes

Before surgery I was on 2 blood pressure meds and was still borderline high. (130s/90s) IMMEDIATELY after surgery the hospital was only giving me 1 blood pressure med and it was perfect and has been every since. (115ish/70s) My Dr told me to check and everyday to make sure it doesnt drop under 100/60 ans if so call him right away. I hope to be off the meds after loosing some more weight. It is the only medication I am on other than preventative from the surgeon for a few months.
  19. Yes to the hair loss. Things were just getting better before the surgery too. I started on a skin/hair/nails supplement. Hopefully it will help.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Things here are going really well. I can eat whatever I want but only a little. I am tolerating sugars and fats better. Veggies and fruit are still the safest to eat. I have been stalled for a month which is fine. Still not down to the 190s yet. But I feel great and I look good. My friends and coworkers tell me that I am still losing weight just the scale is slow to catch up. I am definitely still losing inches. I am using a ton of lotion trying to keep my skin as hydrated as possible and hoping it will not look to flabby when all is said and done. My scars are still very visible but there is not much that can be done about that. Still no regrets.
  21. That’s awesome and super jealous! Allergies are kicking me in butt and day 3 of 14 of liquid diet and loosing my mind about the chance to get to my surgery and they cancel. Replying to @vilmarie.25

    When/How to buy new clothes

Update: I initially started this post WAY back. I've gone from a 3x/24 to a M/10! What I did was buy some stuff at thrift stores, and then a few things in stores/online, just enough for a week's worth of clothes in any one size. I have found that I can actually wear things a BIT big, so for example, the pants I just bought (one pair of casual pants and one pair of jeans) are a size 10, but today I am wearing size 14 dressier pants, which are loose, but since they're stretchy, they don't look ridiculous. Also, I have some shirts in every size from S-XL that fit. I had all sorts of hopes to get everything from thrift stores but in the end, I am too picky for that. I have been donating my "bigger" clothes on Buy Nothing or if no one in my neighborhood wants them, I donate them to the thrift store. Mostly I'm able to give my bigger clothes to my neighbors on Buy Nothing, so they are not going in a landfill just yet!

    Kept it Quiet?

I decided to talk with my husband and children about it, my mother and my brother. Some online friends I have met through my business . I lost 30 in the first 2 months of my 6 month program. My mom, brother and husband are on board, but all asked me to reconsider and loose it naturally. I was a skinny person with crazy high metabolism until 30, received medical attention for anxiety and severe depression and poof, weight gain constantly since. I am 41 now. Always was active and was labeled medically induced morbidly obese. I have been to ‘diet doctors’ nutritionists, doctors, tried getting off the medication and gain plus all the time. I was literally doing one meal at dinner and ‘testing’ shakes and purée phase foods for the other meals. Because honestly I am terribly anxious for the liquid diet. Which I happened to start yesterday. I in total lost 50, but gained back 5-10 in a nervous dip and adding back to 3 meals. Trying the yogurt recipes (I gain with yogurt 😢) My doctors still want me to stick with the yogurt. I do know that carbs are my gains. I have my RNY scheduled May 10 and can’t wait. It’s not a secret, but I am not trying to tell anyone because it’s my body and my decision. Judgements are always made and sometimes (always) my family (aunts uncles cousins) can be completely rude. All in all, I am doing this for myself and my children, I want to live and annoy them for a long time and love the families they ave. So don’t worry about anyone else. Immediate support group small~ All I need 🥰

    Thinking of backing out

Welcome. I had surgery on April 18th. So i am still recovering. At this stage. I do have some regrets but of course hopefully everything gets better as with any surgery, recovery takes time. 1st of course is the food mourning lol. missing all the great delicious food i use to eat, but the other hand i am loosing weight. 2nd is the big one is i am having some severe heart burn but its not a lot. I am unable to sleep in a actual bed yet because of it. I am hoping it goes away as i loose weight.
