  1. Jpr99... I totally understand where your coming from with bring able to eat a taste of multiple things and not over eat....loving this pouch! SD: 10/10/12, Converted from Lapband to RNY, HW (before band) 263, HW (RNY) 230, Preop 219, after surgery 223, CURRENT... 191YIPPEE!!
  2. I'm so surprised - for the last 2 days I've actually felt hungry. I've gotten headaches from feeling like I need to eat. Protein shakes aren't cutting it. And after last week of feeling no hunger, I'm freaked out about feeling hungry. I'm only 10 days post op. I thought hunger was curbed with RNY?! Can I possibly be some freak exception?!? If I did this to myself, only to be the same as I was before, I'll lose my mind!

had a conversation with the scale this morning.....

WOW that is GREAT! Looks like you are on your way. Sounds to me like you are trying really hard and you have your mind right where it needs to be. I was banded in Dec. of 09' best thing i have ever done. I have had a few bumps along the way . For now Im happy with it and would do it 1000 times again if needed. During the pre op diet I lost 23 lbs. It was awesome!!! On my one year anniversary I was at a 100 lbs lost!! Was feeling really good at this point . When i started this journey i was at a woppin 268 lbs. a size 26 pants. could wear a 24 but the 26 gave me breathing room if ya know what i mean.? At 168 and wearing a size 10 jeans I felt soooo good about myself. made sure i got those full body photo shots. lol.... Up until this year around the end of April early May I started getting sick. SICK because of my choices not the band. Started eating spicy foods just could get enough of it. Mean while i didnt know what i was doing to my stomach. Had to get unfilled because my stomach was inflamed really bad. Couldnt keep nothing down. Very Very disappointing to me. BUT I had to keep in mind that I DID IT TO MYSELF. I made poor choices. Well after waiting 4 1/2 months and gaining 22lbs back i went to get a fill. While there i find out that my port has done a 90 degree flip, ugh! after seeing a few drs. and finding out that it can be fixed and getting a fill IM BACK ON TRACK!!! Went on last friday and have lost 3lbs already. I didnt tell you all of this to scare you I just want you to make good choices and I know you will. you will do just fine! Keep us posted and post lots of pics. Look me up if you ever need to talk. Holla~

    The Truth About "starvation Mode"

Thanks for the article.. I wonder why the reference are over 10 years old though??!!!...
  7. Hello all! I was sleeved 12/10 and am down 17lbs since surgery. I'm looking to see if there is anyone that lives near me and would like to become occasional work out buddies or attend support groups together. I live in the East Bay of Oakland-San Francisco area.
  8. Soon to be me

    Post Op Day Three

So, My sleeve was done on 12-19-11..I was suppose to come home the very next day..but due to the fact that i was soooo nauseous, and couldnt hold anything down, i had to stay another night. The gas pains were awful, and throwing up blood mixed with bile certainly was a highlighted moment either. BUT, Im home. I hardly had any sleep in the hospital, and am looking forward to climbing in my big ole bed this evening. I feel much better than I did, though, im still nauseated at times. The smell of things are getting to me as well..almost like when i was preggers, and had the nose of a blood hound. lol! Im still so scared that this isnt going to work for me, its so sureal. But im excited to prove myself wrong!
  9. Hi! I had a Lap to RNY conversion on Wednesday. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, but the anesthesiologist pumped me up with too much gas & they had to try to do the surgery the following day. I was an add on patient for Wednesday. The procedure was supposed to be strictly a laparoscopic surgery. I noticed when I came home that I have 10 lap sites & 1 open incision on my left side. The site is puckered in VERY deep & looks like a huge/wide/ scary roll with sores inside of it. The "sinkhole" is completely disproportionate to my body. I didn't know if this was normal. It's extremely painful & I am so upset. I'm not trying to complain. I am completely grateful that i was given the opportunity for a revision... I just don't know, if this will look like this forever... Or if it should be this painful... Has anyone else went through this? I don't know if this matters, but I started out at 285. Thanks, guys!

    Rice?

It seems like alot of people don't do rice. Why is that? Also, I'm 3 weeks and 2 days out and I'm supposed to be in the purreed stage for another 10 days but I cannot stomach one more yogurt or cottage cheese! I had sushi for lunch...2 of them, so far so good.

    decent weight loss?

I didn't see it right away either. I had my surgery in December and I did a week pre op lost 9.8#, a week post op lost 9.2, so a total of 19#. A few days after I came back someone said to me I look like I lost weight. It felt weird. That person had no idea I had surgery (I mean any surgery). I didn't see it. Weird thing is when I started at my current job 1.5 years prior to that I weighed about, 285 or so, when I started my pre op diet I weighed 247 and no one had said anything previous about any weight loss. Maybe it's where you lose it idk. But 30# is a great accomplishment, be proud!
  14. My surgery is scheduled for June 7....I am also afraid of not being a success. This past month....I kid you not, I have not stopped eating. I have literally gained at least 10#. I don't know what is wrong with me!! I have been waiting a long time to be banded and I can't wait for Monday to come. I believe it is the right decision for me. It is a great tool for anyone that is overweight. If it was up to me, in your situation....I would take this remarkable tool with me to OA. At least you will have something to control the overeating. Good luck on whatever you decide to do!!
  15. It is truly amazing what a difference a simple .01 or .02 cc's can make!!! hope you find a good spot for you. Let me know what the barium swallow shows. Kat
  16. Hi, I have had my band for 10 months, had 4 fills and have been doing very well. I have lost 55 pounds. The other day, though, I had a lot of pain in my port area and later went to eat lunch and no longer felt any restriction. I went to see my surgeon today and he sad that there was no fluid left in my band. It may be detached from the port, a faulty tube to the band or a leak somewhere. He has only had threee cses of it ever, and that It may be a simple fix or a complete replacement of my band. I need to schedule surgery again and he will not know what it is until he goes in there. I can not get a date for over a month so I am back to the beginning again. It is very depressing. Maybe there is a problem with your band or port that needs to be looked at further. Let me know how you make out. Tracy

    Eating too much?

Yes that really does make me feel better. Thank you! --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 213
  18. Wow, liquids kept you full for 10 days?! I feel like they don't keep me full now! Does full feel the same as it did before? I mean, the liquids take away my starving feeling, but I don't feel full at all. Hmm, I may just turn to tuna too! Thanks for replying! Can't wait for a little nsv!!

    Hummus spread????

I've never had hummus, but our local Publix in the deli section has like 10 different good-looking 'flavors'. I thought about buying one, but I wasn't sure what hummus was, didn't want it to end up being fish eggs or something.

    Diet Coke

I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I read on another thread that someone had been told by their surgeon it was ok as long as you stir some of the fizz out with a spoon before you drink it! I was most afraid of giving up fizzy drinks out of all the changes I have faced, I would get through 8-10 litres of pepsi max a week until my surgery, and I have to admit that I have had a few sips since (when no other drink option was available) and its just soooo uncomfortably gassy!! I found a bottle a few weeks ago which was so old it was completely flat, and it was nice, but it didn't particularly make me want more of it. I guess that as time passes and habbits change the urge does reduce significantly. The biggest problem I have is finding suitable mixers with alcoholic drinks (cranberry juice all the way now!). I do on occasion allow myself a beer or a cider, but some of those tend to be more bubbly than others (I do do the stirring trick, which looks a little odd in a pub), but I've found some ar emuch more gassy than others, so if I find one that goes down nicely I'll try that again in future, and slowly avoid the ones that didn't suit. wow - I just re-read my post and realised how much it sounds like I drink!!! he he!
  24. Just got back from a 3 week trip for work - while there I had to buy some new clothes and that was great . I also could relax in the tub - still not as comfortably as I would like, but enough to fall asleep in there! The big Nsv for me was getting out of my hot tub and grabbing my usual towel that doesn't quite fit around me and what do you know!?! It more than fit around me! I had a good 6 inch overlap where there used to be about a 4 inch gap! I haven't been paying attention to a scale - being out of town makes that near impossible - when I got back I had lost another 10 lbs in that 3 weeks and I was bloated from that time of month and from travelling. I celebrated with a nice pedicure Sent from my iPhone using VST
