10 days post op need a little help with intake
Cassiopeia posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't feel hungry. But I do feel weak. Im working on getting in my Protein and fluids. I'm doing okay with the liquid diet, Im just tired of it already and have never liked shakes and smoothies,... so I sometimes just don't have them. I freee them into pops though and I can have them that way. It's a battle any way you slice it, as we all know. My doctor was never specific on any of this, but it is really bothering me. im supposed to sip all day between meals, but if I can only hold a few oz, how is that okay? also, when do I stop eating? I can eat about 4 oz before I really just dont want any more. i am not full sick, or sick at all, i just cant bare to take another bite. is that mental? is that my body telling me im full without a physical sign but a mental one? there are no signs that i am full, but at about 4 oz, i just shut off i guess? head hunger is hard. i had a few bites of cooked ricotta cheese and sauce from the lasagna i made today. (i'm on fll liquids and doc okayed easing into soft foods, so technically not a "cheat" but i feel guilty) it was yummy, but i feel guilty. when am i supposed to eat? i wasnt given a meal plan. i dont want to eat a "meal" because i want something to do. i need a schedule but i dont know what is appropriate. the nutritionist didnt give me a post op example for the 600 calorie diet, only the 1 year post op diet. for example today i ate 2 oz of a Protein shake, then three hours later, 4 oz of yogurt, then two hours later, 2 oz of sauce, then three hours later 3 oz of Soup. it was about 250 calories. obviously that is not 600-800 a day. am i supposed to eat more? -
Head cold after surgery
SageTracey replied to emily5000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three and a half months post op and have had a bad head cold for the last 10 days. The last time I remember coughing this hard I actually had pneumonia. I am on the mend now, so not worried about pneumonia, but the cough is very deep feels like its coming up from my boots. Fortunately hasn't had any effect on my band that I can feel. In fact, the cold has made me less hungry than normal so that's a bonus. I am working on cardio-type activities to improve my lung capacity again. Good luck with your journey -
Ok....looking for hints. I am taking Celebrate Bariatric Vitamins. I am trying to get them all in but it's 13 pills a day and I am trying to find the right order to keep me from vomiting. It seems to be the Calcium I think that is making it horrible. They have a very "cleanser" type of smell that goes along with them. Any of you out there have any types/tips you would like to share on Vitamin taking? Because I know all surgeons can be different, my surgeon has me taking B12 three times weekly Vitamin D daily B complex with thiamine daily Calcium with D three times daily (thats 6 pills a day) Mulitvitamin (3 pills a day) the last is just my omeprazole which i may or may not keep taking--will find out friday. thanks

5 weeks post op on wensday but feeling regretful....
dizzylizzy replied to blessedwithlove78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got sleeved close to when you did (mine was October 4). My first three weeks I was only allowed liquids, and now I am on mushy foods. I haveven't even tried much else, since I am not yet allowed solids. My surgeon told me it was to protect my staple line and to give my stomach time to adjust. I don't know if this made a difference, but I don't crave anything. I do get hunger pains, but I wonder if it is really acid. Because it feels different than hunger used to. Like someone else posted, I didn't go through something this drastic to cheat. I journal everythign I eat and drink each day. I make sure to get in 48-64 hours of Fluid and when I do eat, I made sure to get in my Protein first. Once I get my protein in, I stop and see if I am still hungry. I never am. I may not be full, but I am not hungry. Now if we can just conquer the "head hunger" we will be set. I recommend writing down everything you eat and drink. It was a pain at first, but now it is just a habit, and it really helps me see how much I am really eating and how much protien I am getting in. Hang in there - you just need to find what works for you! -
Symptoms of a gallbladder problem: Pain: The most common symptom of a gallbladder problem is pain. This pain usually occurs in the mid- to upper-right section of your abdomen. It can be mild and intermittent, or it can be quite severe and frequent. In some cases, the pain can begin to radiate to other areas of the body, including the back and chest. Nausea or vomiting: Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms of all types of gallbladder problems. But only chronic gallbladder disease may cause digestive problems, such as acid reflux, gas, nausea, and vomiting. Fever or chills: An unexplained fever may signal that you have an infection. If you have an infection, you need treatment before it worsens and becomes dangerous. The infection can become life-threatening if it spreads to other parts of the body. Chronic diarrhea: Having more than four bowel movements per day for at least three months may be a sign of chronic gallbladder disease. Jaundice: Yellow-tinted skin may be a sign of a common bile duct block or stone. Unusual stools or urine: Lighter-colored stools and dark urine are possible signs of a common bile duct block

SEVERE reflux at night
twinkiemama replied to wrlove5683's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After not seeing the clinic for about 9months , I wanted to get in before the holidays for a little tweak. I had been plateaued, but comfortable. But knew I was able to eat too much. The same thing happened to me, after a 1cc fill by the PA. Identical!!! I have been in at least three times now for unfills and I am still having issues with heartburn and reflux. It's very frustrating!! It is very scary to wake up and have vomit in your mouth/throat!! This has stopped, but the heartburn continues. Someone wrote to eat slower, which I do need to still work on, so I am going to consciously give this a try. I hate to go back for another unfill, so I am trying to really look at my habits:no eating after supper seems to help MOST of the time, but not always, what I am eating,CHEWING!!!! I am really bad at this too. I have started exercising again. I had gotten lazy. This really does make a difference!! On the upside, I have lost weight!! -
1 week and 2 days post op - Protein shakes
vegasneon replied to Dreax33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got all three direct from their respective web sites. You can also get some samples from Amazon. I dont know if its ok to post website URLs on here but you can google them all by their names. Chike is called Chike Nutrition. I'm glad I had gotten samples from nectar because I hate them all. I would be unhappy if I had a whole canister. -
I am one month out and I am eating meals, with two or three light meals, either pudding with protein powder, a protein shake, glass of milk with or without no sugar added instant breakfast, depending on my protein needs for the day. I try to keep something every few hours only because I can't get it all in with three meals.

Hi! I just recently started my "permanent" weight loss journey. Here's some info on me: I've done the psych evaluation and met with the dietitian. I'm scheduled for my first surgery class next week. I see Dr. Nagle at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for my second visit on 8/10/05. All of my information should be sent to the insurance company right after. I'm presently 248 lbs. I want to get to 150ish. Employed Full-Time Full-Time College Student (3.8 GPA Yipee!) Wonderful husband and three year old. Great parents who have helped out soooo much!

Brighteyes replied to ReadyNewM3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, contact your doc. I have dealt with back pain for a long time. I was three weeks post op when my back went out again. I see a chiropractor. His thought was with loosing weight my body was readjusting to how I was carrying the weight. Adjustments have always been the best thing for me. -

Surgery Went Well
kbliss78 replied to Evolutions12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
awesome you are on the other side. THe next three days might not be fun. But hang in there! -
Hey! Congrats on the weightloss. I was banded a month before you and have lost 28lbs. but didn't lose anything for almost three weeks. You might be retaining fluids from the surgery still. My Dr. would not let me take my diuretic after surgery but still permitted me to take my diovan. I really think that the key to my weightloss...which I consider to be slow...is documenting every single thing that I put into my mouth. EVERYTHING. I keep track of it all on www.thedailyplate.com and I keep my caloric intake between 800-1000 calories with 64oz of Fluid a day. I was super down about my slow weightloss even a month out of surgery but I just kept to it and it's now becoming more consistent.

Is this a stall already?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to SookieLei's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are experiencing is a very normal, necessary, and natural part of the process. We all experience stalls, especially about three weeks after surgery. This will not be your last stall. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
Looking for a post sleeve eating schedule
Jennifer Ostermeier posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm interested in learning what being for a sleever looks like months out from surgery. I am currently less than one month from surgery and would like to see what my eating might look like two months from surgery, three months from surgery, Etc. it would be nice to not only see the volume of food that will be necessary/required, but what types of restrictions there will be in each stage. I do realize that every surgeon has different recommendations, but does anyone know where I might be able to find a generic resource like this? -
When should i start loosing weight?
labwalker replied to jessicawinston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on your band and your metabolism! I lost 15 pounds on the presurgery diet, but I also put it all back on, and a bit more, post surgery. After my third fill I started feeling satiated after eating the recommended amount of Protein at each meal. What really started losing the pounds was seriously watching protein and portion intake, and doing daily exercise. Don't be discouraged if things don't happen fast. For some folks the pounds fall off with no fills. Others, like me, can take three or four visits to start experiencing getting near the green zone. Just don't lose faith and keep to the plan your doctor advises you to follow and you will do fine! -
My dietitian said that a great result is to lose around 30% of your excess body weight in the first three months. So subtract your goal weight from your highest weight and work out 30% of that figure. However that's the bench mark for a fantastic result there will be a lot of variations of that some higher some lower and as long as you are losing its a good thing [emoji3] Sent from my CPH1607 using BariatricPal mobile app

Surgery was last night
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Mnicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't believe how lucky I was. I see all these posts about extreme pain. I was hitting the morphine button pretty much every time I remembered it was there the day of surgery but I really don't remember any pain. Never had any of the gas issues. The worst part was no liquids. Surgeon said no liquids for 24 hours after surgery and I already been with no liquids for 12 hours prior. Day 2 I was taking liquid Vicodin but only had two doses. I was only able to get a few steps at a time but food was going down okay. Day three, there was that was really bad nausea and I had to take three different types of anti nausea medicine to get under control but that was it. I had one dose of liquid Vicodin in anticipation of a long car ride and a half a Vicodin when I got home but nothing since. One of the posters who was sleeve that pretty much the exact same time I was still needs Tramadol and Oxycodone to sleep. I do have problems with pressure in my chest when eating and often all day but nothing to the level of true pain. I've got to pray to the gods of weight loss surgery for sparing me some of the stuff that you guys are going through. You have my sympathies. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

I had a hernia fixed and I started to have a little bit of pain about day three. I just used a heating pad and it seemed to help. Feel better soon!
