This was given to me of what I could have. I added steamed veggies to the broth and it was different. I also add the hidden valley ranch seasoning packet to plain Greek yogurt and dipped veggies in it. It was tasty. I drank premier protein shakes and the sugarfree Popsicles were a treat. I am in the same boat, the holidays have always been my favorite due almost exclusively to the over indulgence of treats, this year has actually felt a little less festive without the constant baking and snacking BUT I have prepared my family for the low fat and sugar free menu including greek yogurt and fresh fruit parfaits, alcohol free mojitos (crystal light!!) and sugar free coffee cake for the grand reveal (dinner is grilled chicken skewers, butternut squash soup, quinoa stuffing and broccoli with unjury protein cheese sauce!)

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out. My NUT advanced my diet to the following: yogurt, eggs, cheese, refried Beans, puréed chicken/turkey, veggie patties, and turkey sausage crumbles. But everything is making me nauseated, or hurts when I eat it. I'm trying to drink a lot of Fluid...& am not doing great at Protein (again back to the nausea)... Did anyone else experience this? Did it eventually subside? Any tips?

I had been trying solids, chewed to mush, but no go. Painful. Back to protein drinks, cottage cheese and yogurt. I know that even though it smells good, I will pay for it later. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I buy the small tubs of yogurt, they are about the same price as a 4 pack or buying a few singles @ .50 a pop. Then just measure out how much you want. Dannon light and fit comes in the tubs, which is probably the best yogurt for calories and carbs, at 80. Greek also comes in the tubs.

Shake Question At "full Liquids" Stage
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It figures my "big" questions always come at or close to 5 on a Friday and I don't want to bother anyone at the surgeon's office if most here say it's not a biggie. Not sure if this is a problem. In 3 days I start pureed (OMG- cant wait for the ricotta thing!!). So I dug out this amazing blender for Protein etc. shakes I bought years ago and whipped up a concoction- vanilla RTD shake, some greek yogurt, ice, pumpkin pie spice, tsp. of Peanut Butter and a 1/4 a banana. It has been (haha- 2 hours later) amazing! But... as a was gulping (for some reason liquids go down fine- I know I need to slow my roll) I tasted a piece and realized banana has these tiny pulpy seedy pieces. They were extremely fine and did get pulverized through the blender. I had lots of it already. The thing that freaks me out is one day this week someone said something about accumulated stuff like that getting stuck in the staple line and causing an infection. Do you think I have anything to fear? I've been so "good." I read about people going to soft foods almost immediately and can't understand that, however that makes me think if they "made it" doing that-- I'm probably fine??? Also, I'm not having any liquid restriction so this shake was really a lot --- since I didn't feel a need to stop how did you know when to? Calorie wise I'm still prob. around 500 a day but getting in at least the 70 grams and all liquid- easily. Thanks for any knowledge or even if you know a place on here that explains this process a little more fully. -

October Sleevers ~~~ How's your weightloss going so far?
gomekast replied to Athinnerme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did track. Up until last week. I was really struggling with what I thought was an acceptable caloric goal, because my nut won't give me one. They practice the hunger trust model. So, I took a giant leap of faith and decided to trust my sleeve and that the surgery did it's job. One thing that I discovered in this is that my body is now at the point of needing healthy fats. Yesterday I had a full fat yogurt, half an avocado, 2 servings of cashews, at least announce and a half of reduced fat cheese...you get the idea. Try adding in a healthy fat to each meal you have. That will keep you full longer and feeling satisfied way longer. I'm able to go up to 5-6 hours as long as I add in a healthy fat source. You are welcome to come find me and add me on. Myfitnesspal....I haven't tracked for a week but everything up to that point is there. Or add me on Instagram...I've been posting pics of my meals for those following me on there...I'm gomekast on both apps. Here is what I've been doing food wise..I'm a creature of habit and cook in batches, so I tend to eat the same things for a while. Breakfast-Quest bar and dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. Snack-cashews..if I need it Lunch-half an avocado sprinkled with verde salsa topped with 3 oz tuna salad(made with aprox 3T ff miracle whip and 2T relish) Dinner-half a chicken breast burger, half cup cottage cheese, two strawberries.(sometimes skip cottage cheese and add in half of an egg muffin I have made up) If I get hungry later after dinner, I will snack on some planters brand Peanut Butter chocolate spring mix I found at target. It's a yummy treat. Hope some of this helps... My stats are HW 286 SW 279 CW 189 Kelly -
Starting soft foods a little earlier

I also could have yogurt and cottage cheese the first week. Could barely get down more than a tablespoon, but I can imagine how you must feel! -
Is there something wrong with my sleeve?
plumptofrump replied to AdrianaNaji's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days post op and I am a little worried that I too do not have any problem with water and 6 oz of yogurt go down just fine. I hope that the full feeling will kick in when I eat solid food again. -
Gastric Bypass Veterans - Get real with me!
esskay77 replied to ilikecake2much's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My "good" average day: Kashi bar and coffee for Breakfast Hardboiled egg about an hour later If I have time, I have a nf greek yogurt for a snack lunch is usually some grilled chicken from the salad bar and some red onions, green peppers, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, balsamic vinegar (and sometimes a bit of olive oil) If I remember but I usually forget: another yogurt or some cottage cheese for mid day snack dinner is usually some chicken or ground turkey meal (turkey chili, baked chicken, sauteed chicken, chicken stir fry, that sort of thing). Protein bar for dessert (Quest or other) I don't dump from any of that. If I'm cheating it may or may not get me but my symptoms are pretty mild. Some people don't get this, others get it really bad. The best thing is to eat right and you won't have to worry! -
First full day after surgery, what are you intaking?
cnotche posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded yesterday (go ME!) and feel a little miserable today. Totally expected (thanks to this website!), but am feeling a bit nauseated and have severe pain in my right shoulder. Having trouble staying hydrated, haven't ingested anything but Water (sip, sip sip). I am afraid to try and eat "food liquids" that are on my diet plan, such as Protein shake, broth, yogurt, Jello, for fear of making my nausea worse. What did you eat(drink) the first couple of days out from surgery? -
Should I change what I'm doing? Maybe I need to relax.
christieouchley posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 04/29. I am very unhappy because in the last 3 weeks I have only lost 4 lbs. I track calories and never go over 700 per day, all from lean protien and vegtables. Sometimes I have a yasso frozen greek yogurt for a treat but never more than one per day. I usually get all the water in, and have been increasing my workouts to 5 per week. Love C25K! Whats up? How can I work so hard at this and the scale is not moving. A friend of mine was sleeved 02/14 and has already lost 70 lbs, she was about the same size I was starting. She does not exercise, count calories, or even worry about how much protien she gets in. She has 2 protien shakes (12g protien ea) per day and eats a small dinner. Her Dr. never emphasized the protien as much as mine. Maybe I should just relax and not try to stay so on top of it and trust the sleeve will do the job. -
I'd wait to eat solids just to make sure the irritation goes away. Otherwise you can get in a cycle of eating solid / vomiting / swelling from the irritation making you even tighter / eating solid / vomiting... etc. Try sticking with liquids & mushies for several hours -- have some yogurt, Soup, a Meal Replacement shake, or something like that for your nutrition in the meantime.

Not getting enough protein or liquids...
BarrySue replied to Savannah Lee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shakes made me ill, and I was super picky, so some of the following helped me get closer to protein goals: Fat free fairlife milk (lactose/sugar filtered out, tastes like regular skim milk, fortified with protein/calcium) Fairlife milk mixed with either sugarfree strawberry/chocolate syrup, or served hot with diet cocoa mix Mixing a tablespoon of vanilla Protein powder with sugarfree vanilla pudding (I never added too much because I hated the aftertaste, but it was a good way to still add some protein) cottage cheese with just a tiny spoonful of tomato sauce (tastes like lasagna!) I also used the hershey's sugarfree strawberry syrup and added it to plain greek yogurt to make it taste like regular yogurt I'm seven weeks out, and these things have been a godsend! Soft food stage will open up a lot more options for you. It gets better! -

I'm 10 days out and my protein shakes for making me nauseous I was on yogurt cream soup's and doing just fine digesting my 2 ounces my next stage was a few days away so I removed myself up to puréed foods just chewed up my cottage cheese well blended lentil soup are refried beans now I'm starting to feel better that I'm getting protein other ways than barely getting to my goal with my shakes -
Funny you should ask because today I was realy hungry for the first time in a while. I only had yogurt for breakfast and around 3pm I could hear my stomache growling-I was really hungry. I remember thinking that is was weird because I usually don't get hungry. In the beginning stages (prior to a good fill) you may feel hungry more often and that is completely normal. Yes, you can eat around the band because ice cream, candy, etc. seem to go down real easy-but if you eat proetins first it will curb the urges. I saw a teacher I work with and I always thought she had surgery-she had lost a lot of weight-but I noticed that she is putting in back on. That's where having the option of getting a fill is awesome. People who get gastic bypass don't have that option at later stages, That's why I love the band-there is an adjustment option that other surgeries simply don' have.

7 weeks out and traveling, no appetite, can't eat a thing!
The New Kel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy early Thanksgiving all. I am traveling, got in Monday and am staying in a hotel all week. I have not been able to eat anything except yogurt (a little) since I left home. I've tried everything and nothing is going down without pain and immediate fullness. Also, I have had zero appetite for three days. I have had maybe 400 calories total since Monday. Could it be travel stress? I'm getting a lot of stomach spasms. Tomorrow (Thanksgiving) I will be in mixed company, most of who don't know I've had surgery. Should be interesting, especially not being able to eat at all. -
Pre-op diet — am I missing something?
Creekimp13 replied to Pink nova's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I had just shakes for two weeks...with one yogurt or oatmeal per day......and sugar free clear liquids. Some people get one protein/nonstarchy veggie meal per day. Your diet sounds like a bear. I wish I could say something really encouraging here....but the pre-op diet was hell on Earth for me. Way worse than the actual surgery or recovery for me. Experiences differ...but yeah...sounds like you're up against a very strict, very long version. Your doctor sounds Sadistic. If you cheat (don't cheat!)....but if you do....DO NOT eat carbs. The whole point of the diet is to shrink your liver by being very carb restricted. If you cheat, cheat with protein or non starchy veggies. Best idea... don't cheat. Take it a day at a time. And hang in there! Best wishes. -
Hi I’m on day 2 of this liquid diet and I have 3 weeks to go! My surgery date is May 28th. I already had a break down and I have been so moody. I’m just confused because from all the forums that I have read, people are allowed to eat yogurt, sugar free popsicles and jello and some even get to have some time of “real meal”. I’m only allowed 2 cups of broccoli, green pepper, celery, lettuce or cucumber and that’s all for the day (plus my 4 optifast shakes) I have two young boys and I can barely keep up with them with this lack of energy. any suggestions? I’m not allowed broths because the nurse said sodium would hinder weight loss but I feel like I’m not allowed to eat anything. Anyone on the same diet as me? Help? Thanks for reading my vent

Hi Kwallagirl! I am glad all is well with you. I really liked Dr. Yau's comment about the glassess...its does kinda fit eh? I am on day 8 of yogurt and cottage cheese and milk. Ok in the beginning it was easy. NOW....not so much. I can feel myself gagging on the stuff. There are days I dont want to even eat. My big day is JUne 7/07!

I'm planning to continue the Optifast through the first few weeks, as it's nutritionally pretty complete. That's what the info I was given said to do and to supplement with some fruit juice, some vegetable juice like V8 and some drinking yogurt. Otherwise I'd be worried about getting what I need.

I was sleeved on Monday dec 5 , since then I have had no problems getting all my fluids and proteins in at all. I don't feel full and I don't have any trouble swallowing. I eat cream of wheat for breakfast , a protein shake for snack, a cream soup for lunch another protein shake for snack and usually some more soup for dinner with some unflavored protein powder in it. If I want I may have some yogurt or pudding later in the evening. Is this too much? I don't feel uncomfortably full at all, I don't really feel a restriction when eating although I am measuring my portions to stay on plan, I just see all these people having all the problems and only getting in like 400 calories where I am easily getting in 700-900 calories a day. Help am I doing something wrong?

For Those Post Opers( 2 Days & More) That Can Drink.. What Are You Eating?
Izuri replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat maybe 4 ounces of food in a sitting. It takes me 30 min - 1 hour usually. I try and eat 3 times a day high protein (protein shakes, greek yogurt) and then two snacks (like half of a sugar free jello, broth, or popsicle), one between breakfast and lunch, and one between lunch and dinner.
