  1. Good Morning All,Well yesterday I went back to work and wasn't so bad. Everyone mentioned how I looked like I had lost weight, but I played it off since no one knows what I have done. Eventually I'll say something. I was able to manage to eat a whole yogurt and a 20 oz bottle of Water with a Crystal Light add in. This wasn't done at the same time but throughout the day. So that was an accomplishment for me. So I made it through the day. The most taxing part of the day was having to go to the grocery store and shop for company coming over. The rush through the store made me a little flush. I came home and cooked for the first time. It was such a weird experience. I cooked a meal without even knowing how it tasted along the way or even the finished product. So I just kept quizzing my husband on how it tasted. I told him I felt a Blind person trying to write on a piece of paper. You know you've done something, but you don't what the final product came out as. Crazy. Well as for the BM, that hasn't taken place. 7 days. I took the suggested dosage of Miralax on Monday and still nothing. If it isn't happening because of my water intake then my goose is cooked, because I'm drinking as much has I can handle. I don't feel any discomfort, but I know I need to go. Ooh my, the struggle is real. Thanks x0CheekzVSG, for checking on my day. How is today going for you? @@CrissyBat have you done any exercise yet (walking)? I finally did and tell you what - it certainly got my bowels moving. I'm not getting all my liquids in either - I don't know why I thought that would be the least of my problems. Everytime I drink though, even a little, my stomach starts rumbling. I find that I tolerate crystal light and Vitamin water better than regular water. My goal for today: 32 oz h20, & 1 Protein Shake. Baby steps!
  2. Very small sips and bite.. chew it up well.. even greek yogurt. I let it melt in my mouth sort of, first.
  3. I did this with greek yogurt. It's a terrific protein boost and taste like pudding. Hmm.. good idea with the yogurt! I'll try that.

GOOOOD MORNING!!! Let's take today and make it happen!!! I didn't get exercise in last night, let myself slip into a pity party. I did eat totally as planned though, so I'll take it since I fought head hunger all stinkin' day long. Today's plan: B-8 oz shake w/fiber L-Rev wrap and greek yogurt S-8 oz shake w/fiber D-pork chop 828c, 108p, 34nc As you can see from those stats, I've cut net carbs and increased Protein in an attempt to boost weight loss. My NP suggested I try it and see if it helps with this last 20-30 pounds I want to lose. I've got to quit fooling around and make it happen if I really, truly want to see my goal weight. I could actually do it by fall if I'd get serious.

    Protein

I am 18 days out and i've been having the same issues. In fact i was becoming undernurished and my nutritionist told me to start drinking smoothies made with greek yogurt, fairlife milk, and fruit. All Protein is disgusting to me except the Atkins Carmel Cafe shakes, and those have a lot of fat in them, so I was told to limit them to once a day. As far as Water I was only gettng about 24 oz in.. So my NUT told me to add fruit slices(just dont eat the fruit) So i've been adding lemon and orange slices to my water. Since surgery I cannot tolerate crystal light. I've also made a batch of the Starbucks Tazo Passion Fruit Iced Tea and I mix in the MInute Maid light 5 calorie lemonade and it helps get fluids in also. I'm currently choking down an Isopure Zero Carb-- at the very least it helps me get my water in, because for every drink I take I have to chase it with water.
  7. I have a co-worker who doesn't have a weight problem and he drinks Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt smoothies. I am not much of a milk fan but I did discover that mixing the PB with the plain greek yogurt was tasty!

Thanks s_suther... I think I'm heading to the store today to get supplies for a couple of days of liquids. I've read some other bandsters do this on occasion. I'm hoping this will help refocus my brain, rest my pouch tummy and get me back on track. For today... B-greek yogurt L- cup of chili 5 saltines S-baby shower try to stay with fruit & cheese D-not sure yet. Maybe meatballs & mushrooms in sauce Have a great day!
  9. Have you tried greek yogurt? There are so many flavors maybe one that you might like..dannon has light and fit that has 12 germs of Protein and I added a scoop of isoprene vanilla zero carb protein which gives it 25 more g of protein..even if it takes you have a day to get it down it's a good amount. Have you called your dr..maybe they can give you a nausea med and that would help with your appetite I was doing well at my two week checkup that my dr cleared me for all exercise except power lifting lol..lke I was ready for that! Not! I am walking a ton which has helped immensely even when I was tired and sore at the beginning. I am now doing basic yoga and Zumba for beginners..can't get through it all and I avoid thevjumping because of bad knees but it helps.

    E A T I N G ...

I'm eating yogurt. Cream of wheat, baby food chicken or turkey, cottage cheese, refried beans, lentil soup blended and split peas soup blended. Egg white from Costco I mix in a vegetable broth with 1 tbs of very small pasta. Like orzo or acini di Pepe.

My favorites are a cup of unflavored Greek yogurt, one cup of whatever frozen unsweetened fruit combo strikes my fancy that day, 1/2 cup of ice, and 2 tbs of ground flax for the Fiber and Omega 3's. You can toss in a half cup of spinach too for the extra nutrition and fiber. You can't taste the spinach at all, but it will turn your shake green. Play with your fruit combinations and have fun with it. The sky is the limit! My absolute FAVORITE is when I use 1 cup of frozen peaches and not just any peaches. We go peach picking every summer and those peaches taste 1000 times better than any peach I have ever found in the store. Once the fresh peaches ripen enough to be really sweet. I will then work to slice and freeze 1 cup servings in individual bags sealed with a vacuum sealer. Nothing tastes better in the middle if February when winter won't end and I open up a package of the peaches we picked over the summer. Find things you love and enjoy your fiber and Protein smoothie. You can always add a scoop of Protein Powder to add even more protein. Check out The World According to Egggface blog and her Pinterest page. She has a wide variety of recipes to try. Make sure you share any winners with us so we can give them a try too!
  12. I did this with greek yogurt. It's a terrific protein boost and taste like pudding.
  13. That's not what Iv heard with the MGB, most Iv talked too have to avoid or severely limit most dairy with the exception of yogurt and especially high sugar foods to avoid terrible gas, bloating and dumping all of which scare me to death lol I had some dumping symptoms (nausea, sweating, cramping) the first six months with my sleeve whenever I ate anything too fatty or greasy so I think that is a likely sign I could have it with MGB as well. I'm okay with it, anything that keeps me making good food choices is an added bonus ! Lol
  14. I was choking through one Protein drink a day.. it was hard to really get much down, so I was basically sipping it all day.. once I could move to softs, it is much better. and yes, I got sick of the sweet tastes.. once I could have eggs, plain greek yogurt and white fish, I was so happy.. so yes, you will get there.. 1st just make sure you are getting in your liquids/water, then focus on Proteins.

    Too much food?

I'm 3 weeks post. I can eat one egg.. maybe 3/4's cup of soup.. only 1/2 container of greek yogurt. I limit starches/carbs. Get your Protein in first.

I am sorry to hear about the issues some of you have had since the surgery, they will get better. Today is day 13 from the big day and here is what has taken place of since, hopefully it will be helpful to some. I have been lucky it sounds, I have felt great, other than the expected discomfort for the surgery. I am able to get in my fluids and have had no nausea before or after, they gave me a patch to wear the night prior to surgery and a pill the morning of and it worked for me. Surgery was late on the Wed the 25th and I weighed in at 315 prior to surgery. I stayed the night and was kept comfortable with meds, given lots, I think 6-7 IV bags of fluids and I was able to get some liquid down by sipping, Crystal light orange was the best choice that helped me. Discharged early 6:00 am the next morning, about 15 hours after surgery. My weight was 324, lots of fluids. Got home Friday, day 1 and started to sip water with and without crystal light for the first day. KEEP up on your meds, don’t fall behind, it’s not fun. Saturday day 2 started some Isopure’s to get protein in got about 10oz in. Was able to work at sipping fluids all day and also got in about 4oz un-Unjury chicken soup also. Sunday day 3, more Isopure, water and added a strawberry-vanilla premier protein drink. Was able to finish all of them with about 8 oz Unjury chick soup. Learned small sips, to big and to soon made me uncomfortable. Day3 – day 8 NO MORE Meds, pain was ok without them. Same thing kept working on the Isopure, water with crystal light and I started making some protein shakes with my Nutri-Bullet. Coconut milk or premium protein drink, vanilla Greek yogurt, couple scoops of whey powder (Vanilla or strawberry). Sometimes added a 3” piece of a banana to the shakes. I also switched from Unjury to low sodium chicken broth, even some creamed soups (Butternut squash) with unflavored protein powder added in. Day 9 (last Friday) saw the doc and weighed in for the 1st time and happy to report 300.4, almost took off pants and shirt to get below the 300, but it is the last time I am EVER going to see it so it didn’t matter. Doc says, all is good, pureed food for the next week and then can start to mix in some whole food. So NICE. Can do some light walking but need to give another week and then meet with the fitness and nutritionist to form my plan. This Easter was Awesome !!!! I started my day as I do every day now, with a Power Nutri-bullett Protein shake (Spinach or Kale, yogurt, coco milk light, protein powder 2 scoops, and few blue or straw berries) lunch was some turkey chili I made and then. I cooked (BBQ & Smoked) for my family as I have done for many years, I LOVE to BBQ and have large gatherings at the house, I saw NO reason to change. I rotisserie cooked a whole turkey on the grill and smoked a ham on the Traeger, man did we have an Easter celebration. I was able to puree some Smoked Ham with a small amount of gravy and later tried the same thing with the turkey, OH MY, so good. The best part was I did I feel left out as I watched everyone enjoy WAY too much food, in fact I felt GREAT eating my ham with a baby spoon and not being able to finish the small portion I made. I have experienced some pain and discomfort from too big of swallows of liquid or not chewing a few small chunks of sampled turkey well enough, but nothing too bad. To be honest the week of liquid was tough, but worth it, and I would do again only SOONER. I hope everyone had a great Easter and is feeling a little better each day.
  17. we had their store soups an shakes for two weeks post op then soup, yogurt an shakes next two weeks. Six weeks still soups, yogurts, some tuna, 1egg, shakes an above All No Fruits nor Veggies until we had our 60 grams protein Everyday. 18. @ladycook9713. Have fun on the puréed stage and get creative and goggle ideas.

    Salad

Aww, I'm so sorry! For me, salad is on the safe list - I know I won't hurk it back up or have any issues. At least without dressing, or with vinaigrette or yogurt dressing. Everything else is sketchy.
  20. Hang in there it will get better. Also, just because you can't get your protein in early post op does not mean you are a failure. Post op I had a hard time getting my protein too. I could not tolerate the protein shakes and I tried many brands. I still to this day- nine months post op despise them. I just made sure I stayed very hydrated ( small sips) and I lived off Greek yogurt and strained soups until I got to the puréed stage. From there on out you can get your protein from food instead of shakes. I used all the protein powder I had to make protein pancakes( once I was able to eat solid food) and I also mix it with my Greek yogurt. I get my fair life milk at my local grocery store ( Publix) it taste just like regular milk but you get the bonus of double the protein. You will be a success. Lots of luck

    Needing support

Hello, I am reposting a blog I wrote on another thread hopefully some of you will find this helpful....currently I am 10 days out of surgery I feel good but I miss REAL food....but I know if I go astray from my surgeons diet I will pay will illness and possibly my life (cant burst the sleeve) so I will wait til friday at midnight for cottage cheese applesauce yogurt oatmeal mashed potatoes grits cream of wheat and I know theres no way I'll be able to eat all that nor do I want to I just want some different flavors and textures besides liquids......anyways feel free to comment and let me know how you are doing One week after sleeve gastrectomy and I'm still alive.....It's been a long, tough and painful week......the gas pain and nausea have been the worst......well after all this time I have discovered a few things: 1. Chicken/Beef/Vegetable broth has salt in it which helps a LOT to ease gas pain 2. Walking around my house was not enough to get this horrible gas moving...STAIRS is the way to go 3. I write down the date and times of everything I ingest this way I can keep track of Fluid intake, Protein intake and pill/vitamin intake 4. At my weight it is NOT a good idea to sleep in bed too long because any more than 2 hours and I wake up feeling nauseous and like a sumo wrestler has been stomping on my stomach and intestines....also if I roll over too fast incisions dont like that 5. Dont try to bend as quickly or as far as I did pre-op....sutures do not take kindly to these movements 6. Ice chips are my FRIEND I love them because I can eat them or suck on them and make overfilling less likely (I literally put ice in a bag and hit it with a hammer to break it down) 7. Gatorade is my LIFE BLOOD ......the first two days after I was home from surgery (off IV fluids) I felt so crappy I would sleep about 3 hours then wake up to take pills/vitamins and ingest fluids I only had 12 oz the first day and 15 the second...then I talked to my surgeon's assistant she suggested adding gatorade and I felt ALIVE again! 8. Bowel movements are different now (nuff said) Anyways I'm anxious to see how much weight I've lost since surgery....it's GOT to be a lot right ...since I'm ingesting next to nothing? Since I'm doing mostly nothing but trying to ingest enough protein, fluids, stairs, arm circles and stretching I'd love to hear from some others who have had or will have the sleeve gastrectomy........because I will definitely NOT be attending any easter festivities this year.......

    Puree food ideas

I don't think I puréed one thing. I'm not saying you should go rogue like me, but I ate extremely soft foods for two months and chewed very well. I lived on eggs, cheese, and yogurt. Also blueberries, avocado, etc. I am positive some folks won't agree with me but I had no issues. I guess I'm just a rebel like @LipstickLady.

    March Sleevers

I've wondered that myself. I've adventures with a few bites if turkey and a little stuffing with gravy. I have to eat very slowly and chew the heck out of everything, but so far I am able to eat everything I've tried. I cannot stand the sight, smell or taste of any of the protein drinks anymore so have to get some protein in somehow. Doing ok with the cream of wheat and yogurt though but I have been eating about one real mean (saucer sized) per day. Am still losing at a reasonable rate so I'm feeling ok. Just guilty about not following orders lol. I'm still on full liquids. Until the 21st. Surgery was 3/20. I've tested my limits.. Lol. All healthy high protein things such as refried beans and very very moist salmon in well chewed tiny pieces. Today marks my one month on liquids since pre op! I'm over it!
