    Weird periods?

This surgery is one of the reasons I had this surgery. No period for over a year unless medically induced. I was hoping I woulf get one this month because I hate having to take pills for it to come. Alas nothing. I guess I should justvtake my progesterone and carry one. Scale Torture

Thanks all. I think scale "torture" may have been overkill- I’m not obsessed with it and don’t let it get in the way of my life or my program. I just find it surprising that such big swings can be seen overnight... The fact that 5 lbs is gone just from using whatever waters leftover in your system & burning reserves while you sleep is fascinating to me. I do like to track my weight as I photograph myself every 10 lbs lost. I usually take photos at night, and this is part of why I track my end-of-day weight even if it may be less consistent than my morning weight.

    pregnant 6 weeks later!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Losing just 10% of your body weight normalises your hormones, and for many seems to send your fertility into overdrive. Hence you "fell" so quickly. Please make sure that your surgeon ob/gyn actively manage any nausea throughout your pregnancy and delivery, especially over the next few months while your band is healing and your morning sickness is peaking. My surgeon said just three months post band is enough for surgery healing, so you are nearly there already. Enjoy this very special time!

    Accountability Texting Partners?

Hi everyone, Is this a thing? Accountability partners? Texting buddies? I'm kind of hoping so. I've been struggling for a little while now which I posted about elsewhere, and I've been racking my brain to come up with something that might help. Because of my schedule I'm not able to attend the support groups hosted by my surgeon's office each month and I don't really know anyone else going through anything similar with whom I could commiserate. In late November 2016 I was sleeved. My highest weight pre-surgery was 347lbs. My weight going into surgery was around 280lbs or just under and my current weight fluctuates between 196-201lbs. At 5'5" I'm hoping to get to at least 150lbs before my excess skin surgeries (for which I have no dates, I just know I'm going to have them probably in early 2019). I think this amount of weight loss is completely doable, but I'm having a hell of a time remaining accountable to myself. I've also found it motivating in the past to have another person kind of working in tandem with me. I was wondering if there was anyone who might be in a similar-ish boat and would like to be accountability/texting buddies? I'm hoping to get back to basics with my diet (have considered doing a sleeve reset diet for a few days) and have a gym membership but find myself not using it. I'd prefer to workout at home but it's hard to get cardio in at home. It would be nice to have someone to check in with about our workouts, exchange recipes or meal planning ideas with, and to support and encourage to meet their goals. About me: I'm 30, in a long-term relationship, dog and cat mom, full-time student, work part-time, have a very weird schedule, and am also in the midst of some very lame Seasonal Affective Disorder. Really love yoga, one day in the far future would be interested in crossfit, like pushing myself (except for when I don't). I struggle with discipline as far as fitness goes but am ready to sacrifice what is necessary to finish making my dreams a reality. Just hoping to do it alongside a new friend. Anyone interested? P.S. If this topic somehow isn't allowed, I apologize.

  9. After struggling and yoyo dieting for years, I finally decided to get the sleeve. I thoroughly researched the surgery and my surgeon before doing it and I am SO glad I did! I can't believe the energy I have now! I think getting your mind prepared is most important! I think that if I wouldn't have made sure that I really committed to changing my lifestyle, I wouldn't have been so successful so far! For those of you that decide on this surgery, you must be compliant or you just won't see the results! Rule of thumb...don't try to eat bad foods. Just assume you can't and DON'T!
  10. Hello WeeWers and welcome, I had my WLS on March 11th and I am now 10 weeks post op, I can honestly say this is a real journey and one I am happy to be one. Your surgery will be here before you know it just keep us posted and if we can help we will. Take care.
  11. Highest weight and starting weight: 206 lbs Goal weight: 125 lbs Current weight: 116 lbs I'm 5'2". I consider 116 my new "goal" I guess. I'm happy here and don't want to gain even though it is 9 pounds under my original goal weight. I had surgery January 9, 2013. It took me 10 months to reach original goal of 125. I'm not sure what else got me here besides the sleeve except major determination and willpower.
  12. Smooth Move tea worked for me. You drink a cup before bed and in the morning all is well. Once you're eating soft foods, you can make a smoothie (if you have a good blender like a Ninja) and add baby spinach or kale to give you some digestable roughage. Today I made a smoothie with watered down apple juice, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 avocado, a big handful of baby spinach, and a scoop of protein powder. Delicious, filling, and healthy! Be creative and enjoy the weight coming off. Your constipation will go away and the pain from the surgery will ease up and disipate. Also, my surgeon told me to walk 5 times a day. So I set my timer for every 2 hours. I walk about 10 minutes each time. But even if you just walk 5 minutes, doing so every 2 hours is very good for you. I hope this is helpful! ~hiddn
  13. Im in the same boat, I "was" on my parents insurance(Tricare) when i got surgery on 8/4/10 and i got dropped on my 21st birthday which was 8/29/10 so i am only a couple of months in but so far so good.As a matter of fact i just signed up today for insurance through my employer. As far as having future issues i.e. removalcomplications i wouldn't worry to much about that because the lap-band is lower risk. Your first couple of fills should be covered under the original insurance approval meaning they don't re bill your insurance for the first couple of fills. Also i believe in Obamas health care program he extended the time young adults can stay on their parents policy to 26 years old, and you don't even have to be going to school anymore to receive coverage. Unfortunately for me the haven't passed a program for young adults who's parents are in the military! Anyways I recommend the lap-band specially because we are young and have a long road ahead of us, and i personally don't want to be stuck with the complicationsproblems that come with the gastric surgery and that are non reversible. Good Luck!!
  14. I started eating teaspoons of peanut butter the 2nd week and it was ok with my Dr. Has protein and since I started getting hungry the 2nd week, just a teaspoon of it helped satisfy me. Just make sure not to drink with it. It was tempting for me since peanut butter makes me so thirsty. But I didn't give in and 5-10 minutes after I eat it, the thrist goes away.

  17. Yep they goofed up. ARGH! It IS required by Aetna. It is on their website. I did the accelerated 3 month program too and had to provide 2009 & 10. Gosh I hope it goes smoothly now!!!
  18. I said age 18 previously, and I thought I'd elaborate. For me I was a size 28ish bride at 1mo past 19. I quickly got to a size 32 after marriage. There's soo much more that I wanted to do before having my first child at 21. Being obese held me back from doing those things. Being obese made me not have a beautiful baby bump. Being obese also resulted in 3 high risk pregnancies. If I would've went through this wls journey as a young adult I might've had better pregnancies, a social life and beautiful baby bumps. I'm sure some may disagree, but these are just my feelings, for what it's worth.
  19. I considered having it 10 years ago but decided to try it on my own- and lost 60 pounds. Slowly that has crept back and then some. I decided to give it another try and no luck at all, so here I am one week post op. So I guess now was my time. My youngest daughter wanted to have lapband 3 years ago (she was 22) but I discouraged her because she was not ready to make the commitment that was needed and I was very worried for her health and safety with that mindset. Now she is in a place that she is fully aware of what it will take and has the desire to make it work. Both her and her sister (26 yrs old) had surgery on the same day as me. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and doors of opportunity open when they are supposed to, so I guess my answer is, I would not have changed a thing. I think this was perfect timing for all of us so we could support and encourage each other through this. Well, maybe there is one thing I would change and that would be these darned genetics that gave us such crummy metabolism!

255 lbs to lose. Can it be done?

This sounds like the last 10 yrs of my life...tell your friend to be careful an attitude like that can switch that 50lbs to 150lbs quick.
  21. Deductions are amounts removed from your taxable income, not not credits toward the taxes you owe. In the example I gave, $10 of the money owed would be deducted (hence a "deduction") from your taxable amount.

255 lbs to lose. Can it be done?

Shannon I know this is probably extra freaky for you since you know more than most of us what surgery entails, but you can do this. I think you will find it easier than you thought, and if not, the surgery is quick and the recovery is way easier than any other surgery I have ever had (and I have had a number). Just remember, knowledge can be power, but it can also scare the crap out of you! The amount you want to lose seems like a great deal, but take it in small steps and remember every pound you lose is a pound less to lose and a step closer to where you want to be. If you want, go look at some pictures I posted on the general surgery forum under "before and after pictures" near the top of the threads (I think it should be renamed to "before and during"). My pictures are on about page 10 or 11 by now (I posted them on April 10, 2008, so you can look by date). I never thought I would ever post pictures, but I thought, why the heck not? (plus it was a snow day and I couldn't get out of my drive way to go to work, so I played on the computer most of the day) I am not saying look at the pictures because they are anything great, but they are a representation of me at about 350 (and probably more) and me at about 220, about a month ago. They just show that massive weight loss is possible. This morning I weighed myself and I was down to 208 and I know that I am nowhere near done my journey. I have no idea of where I can actually go - my goal of 180 was just a number that I picked that was below 200, but I am now believing that anything is possible. As hokey as this may sound, by believing in yourself, you CAN make your dreams come true . I think many of us kind of gave up on ourselves, and forgot to dream and believe in what we can do and instead invested ourselves in other people, our careers, or in food. I know I did. Do this for you and you alone.
