I didn't feel restriction until my 3rd fill, 6 cc's in a 10 cc band. Good luck and hang in there.
-
Took me 6 fills to get to the green zone...... 7.7 in 10 cc. Be patient. Once you get to the green zone & follow the rules you will be fine. Good Luck!

1 egg omelet with bacon and cheese is my favorite breakfasts Quest bar or Natures Valley Protein Bar when I'm in a super rush Huevos rancheros sans tortilla..... Refried Beans, egg, cheese and green chilis. I make a crustless quiche out of eggs, unflavored Protein Powder, turkey, spinach, cheese and mushrooms. The protein powder kind of stiffens up the quiche so I can cut it into squares, freeze them, and then pop in the microwave for a quick, easy breakfast. I do the same with protein pancakes (just add extra eggs and unflavored protein powder to Kodiac Cakes mix)....make a big batch, freeze them and pop in the microwave for 30 seconds. Bobs Red Mill 10 grain hot Cereal two ways...."sweet" by adding vanilla protein powder and blueberries, or "savory" with unflavored protein powder, cheese and Hormel bacon pieces. Greek yogurt with Kashi Go Lean Cereal or All Bran cereal (gotta have my fiber!)

6 Month Pre-Op Diet Question
NurseJaci13 replied to NurseJaci13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I can tell they don't really care if I gain or lose, at least from what my BRS nurse said. It's more about the "education" I receive. I'm more concerned that they will think I gained on purpose to get over 40, which I didn't. I also have to be over 40 or be over 35 and have co-morbidities @WishMeSmaller and I agree. I'm only 5' 3" so a pretty small weight gain or loss changes my BMI but 5-10 pounds doesn't really change my health issues. I don't think my doctor even cares that much. They want you to meet with a nutritionist twice before surgery and do two psych evals, but they don't have a minimum time to do it in. They will get you in as quickly as you meet those two requirements and insurance approves. I was just wondering if anyone else had this situation. -
Little weight loss during pre op diet
meltingmagnolia replied to bsoutherngirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same surgery date! We only do a 10 day liquid diet (we are limited to 1 protein shake a day for the first 5 days and clear liquids after that), but I am on day 6. I think it has everything to do with how much water you were retaining before you began and how much water you are drinking to flush out the bloating. If you weren't retaining much, you don't lose as much. If you don't drink lots of water, you aren't getting rid of it. I was super bloated and hormonal when I began, so I had an initial drop. However, I got dehydrated, so the scale stopped moving. I pushed a ton of water yesterday and lost 6 pounds overnight. I can already tell that water will be my big challenge after surgery! -
Awesome! It is a really good thing. I received that call last Thursday(9/12/19) and still waiting.....I am literally about to pull my hair out.

I knew I would need new clothes... but new shoes??
Mim replied to emily_0192010's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All my adult life, I was a size 6 shoe. When I got pregnant, my feet "grew" to a size 7 (swelling, excess weight pushing my arch down which lengthened my foot.) Since I continued to gain after my son was born, I stayed in a 7 for nearly 10 years. When I finally lost over 100 pounds with my Lapband, my feet settled back into a solid size 6-1/2. Hopefully, your feet won't change much more than 1/2 size, but I do remember throwing out at least 15 good pair of size 7 shoes! -
Gratitude - what are you thankful for?
blondebomb replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I agree with all comments! but just a few..my best friend my hubs who has believed in me since day 1 we have been married 15 yrs an he seen me at my worst. He is my biggest fan an supporter. He takes me to my app's an we have fun together. the road I was on with over 12 dx's if it hadn't been for 2 of my specialist referring me to WLS an supporting me 6 months ago I would have been bigger an not 94 pds lighter! my endocrinologist told me without this tool even with all the legit efforts the weight was not coming off. it was a blessing for me thats for sure. I dont care if I dont eat like a so called "NORMAL" person portions..thats what got me where I was..society does NOT focus on healthy protions! an its obvious. I eat to live. not live to eat. I dont allow social scenes that all they focus on is having a great time around food an drinks. But I have learned that I can still be social without having all the conversations around food! this tool an the pre education that we get before you are even qualified to have it (at least I was) the education an evaluations were alot of time an learning put in. I learned alot. I did this for me. an I am soo grateful my hubs supports me 1000% ...mentally I have changed emotionally I have changed. my self confidance is back ( although I still get dressed an undressed alone) haha...not used to this new body form yet. working on it! I was fat for so long it takes some time to adjust. (just me) but I am proud of what I have accomplished. an I couldnt have done it without my medical team supporting me an backing me up. I knew going in this there could be issues. its major! I was willing to take that chance I was not about to waste another day depressed, fat an in victim mode. 10 yrs of therapy an still do see phsycologist that helps me with the new me perspective. most of all I thank my God my creator Jah for giving me the endurance an strength to get this far in life an sustaining us an for the love me an the hubs share. (yea I got sappy) oh well!! being honest ppl! Im out of the spiraling dark hole an seeing light an enjoying it again an I am 51 an feeling like our life together is even going to better then ever now an in the new order to come ! sorry so winded got going on a roll here..lol.. -
That's really up to your surgeon. Time off averages 1-2 weeks. You won't be allowed to lift anything heavy (your doc should give you a weight limit, like 10 lbs), and you won't want to do much twisting, bending, reaching up or reaching down because your incisions will complain.

So I’ve never been one to not eat healthy. I gained 80lbs because of health issues in just a couple years. I was super fit and a personal trainer before that. I had surgery in December 2019. I mainly eat protein naturally. Is it important to eat more protein for a reason? I notice I can’t eat much more than the protein anyways?

6 mo visits- should I stay on phentermine?
Lyn0111 replied to GigiLane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I stayed on mine....it helped with energy when I started my clear liquid diet. If your Dr says you can, I would continue taking them until they tell you to stop, usually up til surgery.....depending on your Dr. I was sleeved 9/14/16....haven't taken any since surgery but I'm also off work so a mass amount of energy isn't top priority yet lol but once I get back up and on my feet I will finish my rx to help with the gym but after that I'll quit. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App That's good to know. I'm planning on staying on mine until the doctor tells me to stop taking them. :-) I was told to stop mine 10 days before surgery, which my surgery is Feb 6th and I mean I only have 4 pills left which is spot on 10 days before having my pre-op appointment on the 31st and when i scheduled my surgery dr told i had to lose 10 before the day of if not it will get postponed. I am -12lbs and I fear so much getting off phentermine and end up gaining anything before pre-op and final weigh in surgery date I hear you can gain weight back from stopping phentermine. any tips? My first stuck episode
glam_gabbi replied to Sun Rae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had my second fill last monday, I now have 7cc's in my 14 cc band. I too got stuck and it is the worst feeling ever! Thankfully the pain went away after an hour maybe 2... after approx. 3 days of getting stuck i realized that waiting as long as 10 minutes between bites helped alot. My life was miserable after my second fill, so bad that i wanted to go back in and get an unfill... These past 2 days have been great, i just hope things stay this way >_<. oh! before my second fill i was bale to eat bread and now i can't... have you noticed any changes (aside from restriction) after your second fill? I sometimes "slime" as well but have never had to throw up. I really hope you start feeling better soon! hugs Ps. I know 10 minutes between bites sounds to extreme, but that's what i was told to do.... how long do you wait? -
During the liquid phase I used pre made shakes by premier Protein. I did not have any Popsicles what so ever and i ate regular Yoplait yogurt which was recommended by my nut. Because you eat so little of it at any one time the sugar did not bother me at all nor did the fat. I cannot tolerate any sugar substitutes so I just tried to choose things without sugar. I lived on homemade chicken broth, 1percent cottage cheese, yogurt and creamed Soups through the liquid phase and then ended up living on it through the puréed stage as well. I did not do well with puréed meats and I don't eat Beans. If you do that is a very good source of protein. I could not and still cannot tolerate eggs after trying them puréed. That is the only thing that made me vomit. I am still bummed about that because I used to love eggs. Every few weeks I will try eggs again to see if I can handle it but they weigh very heavy in my pouch and make me uncomfortable. Also, in the first few months after I even found myself lactose intolerant from the sugar in milk. That finally did go away. I also did not even like the taste of anything sweet or greasy. I ended up buying Kozy Shack chocolate pudding at about 4 months because it is not overly sweet. Prior to that I did not even touch pudding. That is about the only sweet thing I actually eat at this point and I do eat it fairly often. I never had full on dumping syndrome. I am not sure why but I am very happy about it. I am down 114lbs in 10 months with 31 to go until goal.

I'm pre-band...3/9/10 is my "due" - when I give birth to the new me(and stop having people ask me when I'm due:lol:). One thing I've heard over and over, online and from friends and support group members was "I just wish I'd done it sooner". That speaks volumes to me; I wish I'd faced the reality that though I've got it together as far as my overall life is concerned, my weight is something that I have not been able to control on my own. My weight has kept my from doing many things I've wanted to do and I've wasted half of my 30's and half of my 40's in a fat suit. No more! I love to cook and bake and my family loves my "good eats" - of course they're none the wiser that many of my recipes are from Weight Watchers or have been altered using healthy alternatives.

Yay! I have found another!! I've taken to eating all sorts of things - and plenty of carbs. You should see the huge glass of OJ I'm sitting here with at the moment. I don't have a carb monster anymore, as there isn't a food that is off limits or even a food to limit. I just try to meet my nutritional needs and caloric needs. Don't let the saggy skin fool you!! My photos before my plastic surgery made me look as if I was still obese, yet I am only 5-10 lbs less now. 5 lbs when I am exercising heavily and my muscle mass is better, 10 when I have lost muscle. (Which happens quickly!). Point being, looking at the photos I looked obese, but obviously it was just skin. I think I read you are planning plastics - it can be very hard to maintain weight after plastics as you can't exercise. (I expected the opposite problem, but with the high metabolism, and the fact that without exercising the appetite is even less, it was a problem). I lost a lot of muscle, and had to really fight to get the calories in. I didn't find that I needed to triple my calories, but I had a very hard time getting in even the same number of calories as usual.

A complete wate of money (or is something wrong)
gentylwind replied to Sixpack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a 10 cc band you have a long way to go before you peak your fill level. Some of it is still going to come down to your choices of what you put in your mouth, how long you chew, how big of bites you take, how long you take to eat a meal, whether you drink with meals etc. The rest is getting adequate medical care. You said you are working out five hours a day? What are you doing for exercise and how do you have time for five hours of working out? -
A complete wate of money (or is something wrong)
Sixpack replied to Sixpack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am retired and have been exercising most of my life. I go to gym 3 mornings a week at 6.00am and usually cycle there and back (10 mile). Prior to the workout I walk or jog about 4 miles along the beach (even with my knee replacements). Later in the morning I usually do a 30 mile cycle ride with a few mates getting home mid afternoon. This causes a problem as I am usually dehydrated and also my lunch is very late. I am not supposed to drink before of immediately after meals but find this difficult as I an so thirsty. I go swimming training 3 nights a week between 6 and 7pm and again my meal time is either late or irregular. I have never been a big eater with the exception that on special occasions I do overdo it. Cake, pastry, sweets and take-aways have rarely passed my lips. All of my life, doctors and dieticians have scratched there heads as to why I put on weight. We were hoping that the lap band surgery would have helped but I am beginning to think not unless something has gone wrong because except for the pain in the centre of my chest, nothing else has changed and I am putting weight back on -
How much water should I be drinking?
Wheetsin replied to smita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The advice about slipping slowly over an hour's period is usually geared more toward RNY patients. When I had my surgery my program was geared toward RNY with lap being a minority, and unfortunately they gave us all the same dietary guidelines. I did the math one day, and with all the Water, time to eat, etc. it would have been phsically impossible to get in everything they were saying to get in, unless I didn't sleep. 64oz is the general guideline. Some people will advocate for an additional 8 oz per 10 # overweight if you're on a high Protein, low carb diet. Some days I hit 64, some days more, usually I'm probably in the 30s. -
Hello! New here!..... Why do I feel this way?
hopefulme replied to bparris's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so glad you posted this message, seeing surgeon on 10/16 and very, very nervous. I wanted to hear so badly that a new band was happy she had it done. Please keep posting. -
You are doing awesome! Do not worry, one day does not a diet break. I was good on mine for 10/14 days. I lost 16lbs and my Dr. was pleased. I even had BEER. Just get back on it today, head on a long walk and enjoy the memory of that great food. AP

jazie replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am all for this. Sunday will be the big day to weigh. I gave in and weighed today and I was disappointed, no loss in the last 2 weeks.Had my band 7/01/08. Reading and posting on here sure helps though. My first fill will be 7/28/08. My husband said I worry more about food than I used to, but I have to plan ahead now, and it is all so new. I have not let myself eat anything not healthy. Gave up all cold drinks. Now it is only water or tea. I don't miss it. Lets keep the Sunday date. Join us if you will. -
Hi, I have been lurking around this board for a couple of months. I live in San Jose, Costa Rica, and have lived here for 12 years. I was banded on 3/29/07. The first night i stayed in the hospital and was in quite a bit of pain. Yesterday was better, and today its alot better, although i still have some pain, its like i did 1000 situps. I am on Clear liquids for 7 days, then am allowed to progress to the mushies. I plan on sticking to the diet that my doc has given me, I am scared to death of a slipage or an erosion, i know they happen, but if i have one i dont want it to be because i didnt follow the diet. I went through what alot of people describe on this board, the first morning waking up and having doubts if i had done the right thing. My wife is very supportive and said that i had, and if i hadnt it was too late to worry about it that it was done. I have 3 children, ages 6-11 and both my parents live down here in costa rica. The thing that made me finally get banded was that my mother is very large, and has been really sick the last year, with alot of different problems. She is 72, and when the doctor was explaing the latest set of problems he was basically telling us that it was really hard to treat all of these different things, and if she was at a lower weight she wouldnt of had the problems and for sure not the complications that she is having now. My Dad is the same age and he is very healthy, goes to the gym 5 times a week and has no health problems. He has never had a weight problem and i have been up and down over the last 10 years. Anyway, thats alot of rambling, dont know why i am posting all this, but i guess thats what these boards are for. I am looking forward to losing, getting back to the gym and changing my eating habits. Thanks For listening

Restriction Finally!!!!
heyred1 replied to fire girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG. I am sooooo frustrated. I too can eat anything i want. I was banded Oct 01, 2009. Pre op i lost 20 lbs post i've lost 20 lbs. I have not lost any weight since my 6 week check up in fact i gained 2 lbs last week. (spring break) I'm like beginning to wonder did they trick me into beleiving i have the band but really don't. I currently have 5.5 cc's and my Dr's will only put .5 in per visit at this point due to them saying most ppl have restriction between 5 and 8 cc's. well i don't wanna wait another 2-3 months to feel something. Sorry i just had to vent. I'm ready for my Sweet spot like NOW. The more i stress over this the more i tend to eat. It's a mind game i know. But my mind is controlling me right now and i need to take back control. -
How long does the approval process usually take?
TxDumplin replied to Kurstin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have bcbs of illinois also. It took exactly 7 days for them to deny me. They wanted my medical history from my primary care dr. After they received that info it took 10 days to approve me. Surgery date is April 22. Good luck with your journey
