  4. Hi there, I purchased 6 months worth of Barimelt vitamins. They're fine...except for the calcium citrate. They make me feel nauseous. Does anyone else like/want these? I don't want them to go to waste. All 6 bottles are unopened except for one. Message me if you're interested in buying them from me. They're $22.99. I'll sell them to you for $10 a bottle if you want to Venmo me payment. Here's the vitamin I'm talking about: https://www.barimelts.com/products/calcium-citrate
  5. That is the question. Upon close examination of my eating habits, I find that I am more likely to snack and feel head hunger when I eat breakfast within an hour of waking vs. many many hours later. This was true for me pre-op, but my nut and docs were adamant that I include breakfast in my daily diet. I have eaten 1 scrambled egg white, 3oz of turkey sausage coins, and 3oz of caramalized onion/sauteed mushrooms every day since introducing "real" food again. I wake up at 6am and eat no later 7am, even if I'm not feeling hungry. On the very few days I don't have time to make myself breakfast I pack an extra yogurt, head out the door, and forget about food until about 10:30 or 11. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you trust your gut (pun intended) or stick to the doc's orders? I am curious to know if there are long term cons to not eating breakfast within a certain time past waking up.

    Gastric Sleeve 💪🏾

I started out at 372 lbs I lost 57 lbs pre-op (through both my six-month supervised diet that my insurance required, and through the two-week liquid diet that my surgeon required). The rest of it took me 18 months to lose. I got down to 138 at one point, but I've since bounced back a bit (they say a 10- to 20-pound gain is very common after you hit your low point). I seem to have stabilized in the 147-151 range - I've been here for quite awhile. I try hard to keep it under 150, though. When my weight creeps over 150, it's all hands on deck - I become a real stickler about following my program until I'm back under 150.

    My first 5K

Start training with some "couch to 5k" plans, and don't be afraid to modify them. They are typically 9-12 week interval training plans. You walk a bunch, then jog a little for 25 minutes, 3 times a week. Then the following week, shorter walk and longer jog intervals for the 25 minutes. Then you get to when you jog 10 minutes, walk 30 seconds or a minute, then jog 10 minutes. Finally you just jog 20 minutes, then add time to it each week. I did it in about 16 weeks. If you can walk the 3 miles, you can start your interval training I also used MapMyWalk fitness app, and a TABATA timer app. The timer is nice to set it when you are doing something like 10 sets of jogging 2 minutes and walking 30 seconds for example. They give you 3-5 second alarms before the next section and even alarms at halfway points of walking and jogging.
  11. Check in! Monday weight in at 189.8 the morning! So down 4.2 since the challenge started. Yay me! Haven't got the routine of the intermittent fasting down yet. My worse time for eating is between 5-9 pm. And I haven't been exercising yet. I am working 7 days a week still, 10-14 hrs a day, so my time is limited and i am exhausted but i have to make myself work out even if it is 15 minutes on the treadmill. I am going to start this week!
  12. Putting the Telogen Effluvium hair loss research I used in a thread for the interested. Started researching this after a visit to my dermatologist confirmed, biotin and minoxidil would not help much. I believe I started taking LLysine as soon as I was allowed to swallow pills post op. I experienced very very minimal hair loss (slight thinning of edges) My hair is back to normal now 1yr post op (Noteworthy info: I practiced low manipulation of my hair for months (ballerina bun), my iron ferritin and other vitamins and minerals were perfect during this time because I received iv infusions and oral supplementation, protein was around 45g daily when I started and worked up to 60g daily) I would suggest consulting your teams, doing your own research, spending the least, understanding that genetics and environmental factors will also play a role despite best efforts, and getting an amazing silk/satin scarf or pillow case to protect what you have. 5 days till surgery

My surgery is on Thursday. I am doing my best to stick with my pre-op. My nerves are little wrecked. I've only lost 10 lbs. Hoping to lose 5 more by Thursday.
  14. In fall of 1997, I went on a particularly bad/embarrassing date. After a bit of humiliation, I realized that in order to impress the ladies, I needed to lose weight. I weighed 220 pounds at the time. I got down to 180, then worked my way up to around 263 by around 2004. I then went on a huge diet and got down to 163 towards the end of 2005. I then gained weight again and got up to around 290 around 2010 when I had my lap band. I was able to get down to 220 sometime in 2011, and that was the lowest I got with the band. I was 303 Late December of 2017. I had surgery in July, and was discharged ~ July 11th at 287#. Today I weigh 219.6 This is the least I've weighted since the beginning of 2005 (Almost 14 years) and in a way a significant event in that I'm where I was in late 1997 (19 years ago). I started this journey with a waist of 48" (Really 49 because it was a very tight 48). Today I'm wearing 40-42" depending on the brand. I went from 4X to XL shirt size. I am still obese, and I'm not done with my journey, but this is the first of a series of goals. Specifically, my next goal is 202 (I'll be officially overweight) Then 199 (Get rid of the infamous "2") Then 169 (Upper end of normal weight) Then 150 (Comfortable "Normal" BMI of 22.2) For those that know me, I'd like to consider myself as a humble person. I'm not posting this to get attaboy's or as a means to show off. I suppose it is just a big deal to me, and if nothing else, to encourage those just beginning the journey. When other people tell me what a great job I've done, I place emphasis on "Congratulate me when I've held the weight off" because as my history indicates, I'm halfway decent at losing weight, but absolutely horrible at keeping it off. I'm really trying to learn how to use my very-unforgiving pouch to permanently change my ways.
  15. I had surgery 2 weeks ago. The last two days when I eat I get dizzy sweaty and feel awful about 10 min after. Then I layed down and couldn’t wake up for 2 hr. My blood sugar is ok. Does anyone know what causes this and what to do
  16. I had my surgery on November 15. I have only lost 6 pounds in 10 days and I’m strictly following my diet and exercising and drinking my water and taking my vitamins. Three days, nothing. I’m so frustrated and terrified I’m not going to lose this weight. Is this normal to go this slowly?

    Make DS public or not?

Wow, I'm shocked your boss asked you that considering HIPA laws. I work for a fortune 100 company, had VSG on 10/17/18, and was out 4 works also. Global HR specifically told me NOT to share with company why I was going to be out. The determination of paid medical leave (short term disability) and unpaid leave (FMLA) is handled completely separate by MetLife who then informs my employer when I will be out and come back. Of course, I was to coordinate workload coverage with my manager. Co-workers provided sentiment and encouragement but no specific questions. I've told a few close friends, journeying, and making videos so I can keep track of my personal journey and may upload sometime in the future but for now I've chosen to put my energy into my recovery/journey with the option to share later if/when I desire. It's the best balance for me. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Hi ...having surgery Jan 12, 2019...did you EVER take Biotin for the hair loss. I think I am going to start taking it as soon as I come back to the U.S....I don't want my hair or teeth to fall out.
  24. Hello, I am Pre Op surgery my date is 12/5/18 (so close i know). we all have our habits, and knocking out lots of habits at once is so hard as we all know. I've been a full time cannabis user for the pass 10 years, smoke ganja everyday. Anyhoo, I've recently stopped smoking. I know i can stay strong at this point not to smoke but I'm very concerned I didn't stop sooner now. is two weeks enough time to give yourself before going under? If i tell my doctor he will postpone my surgery. I've worked so hard to get where i am, that would be very discouraging. Please need advice from SOMEONE who has gone through this would be greatly appreciated. (I know we all have our opinions but this is the route I choose since my boyfriend clarify me i will be okay over and over again but now doing my research I'm freaking out)

How/when did you find your groove?

I'm 10 months out. And I can literally get every ounce of protein I need at each of 2-3 meals to make my daily protein goal. I also have a mature pouch. So I can get at least 3oz of veg in at the same meal. As for fiber and pre and probiotics, I concentrate on dark leafy greens and low glycemic veggies + fermented veggies (kim chi and sauerkraut) + some seeds/nuts/legumes + a bit of low glycemic berries and/or a green apple with peel for the pectin a couple times a week and a bit of Greek yogurt. I'm experimenting with adding inulin into the mix of prebiotic fiber. I also drink/use whole psyllium husks here and there in iced tea, green smoothies, and I make psylli wraps (psyllium + egg whites to make tortillas). I also am down to taking 10g of Miralax (down from 17-20g) per day and also take 2 Colace). I drink 120+oz of liquid per day with 80+ of those from pure unflavored water. If I skimp on any of those things, then the train schedule gets totally whacked. If I eat a crap ton of cheese, the scheduled is off-kilter.
