(slowly) Working on Goal#2 - 140lbs Fitness/exercise goal: Exercise 6-7 days per week with 3 days being strength building with bands Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) To Come Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped)--Diet is back on track mainly. Still having hiccups on the weekends with making good food choices. Trying to look and "act" as a skinny woman, making skinny woman weight loss choices--like if I'm gonna have a thrill meal that day, then will economize on calories and carbs but get my protein in for the remaining day and maybe go stripped down the following day.
  2. It's been awhile since I've posted - but thought I'd post some before and after pictures. This was taken last week when I hit the century loss - but today I'm officially 101 pounds down! My BMI says I should get down to 140, but I think I'll be healthy at 150 - so I'm 10 pounds to my personal goal. I did start working out with a personal trainer which I think will help with these last few pounds.

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

Wow, you just really want a body transplant! 😁 I just keep putting off thinking about this until I see where the skin ends up after the last 10-20 pounds. I've still got a little apron left, just enough to cause a bulge at the side of my hips and along the bikini line. Not sure if Spanx would help. A tummy tuck is a definite possibility after delivering 35 pounds worth of babies in 3 pregnancies. I don't think there's any hope for my thighs. Some things you've just got to accept.

    October 2018 Sleevers

I brought it up to my doc on my 2nd post op visit because of the holiday season and he cleared me on alcohol in moderation as well as caffeine. I have a few shots worth every other weekend or so, but i did talk to him about it first. My suggestion would be to talk to your doc first. My surgery was on 10/23.
  6. I am struggling.  I've been depressed, so I've felt totally "over it" in terms of staying on plan.  While I've mostly been eating what I should be eating (but erring most on the side of fatty foods), I'm eating way too much throughout the day, having many small meals even when I'm not hungry because I'm sitting at home bored,  I'm exhausted and dehydrated and can't get myself to sleep less than 10-12 hours let alone exercise (even roller skating, which I love).  I feel like am doing this all wrong and am paying the price with a stall.

I am sorry to hear you are struggling. Do what you need to do to stay healthy mentally and physically. I hope you can get to the other side of your depression. Hang in there.

  9. I'm sorry that happened to you, but glad you're around! I'm about five weeks out and have indulged a bit myself. I find the traditional stereotypical hunger effects don't kick in. As Matt mentioned, it depends on the individual product, often times, and also how you plan for it. Perhaps have it at the end of a meal, or as you mentioned at the beginning so you're already filling up on appropriate foods. One thing to keep in mind is that you may tolerate some foods better than others after surgery, and sugar is a common trigger. It's harder to find edibles without sugar in them (some sugar shouldn't be a problem, but if you need 100mg dose and you're eating 10-10mg gummies which each have 5g sugar, that would be a problem). So, you might be better served with a tincture/oil if you can get your hands on it. Not sure if you're in a friendly state or if you're stuck using what's available in your area. Another option is getting some Cannaoil or the like so you can use it in your cooking. No matter what, I wouldn't worry too much, you'll find an option that will suit you post surgery, methinks. Best of luck with everything, SkinnySoon!
  10. Give it some time. You are very early out. Best thing I have been working on is mindful eating. Here is a link with some tips, but there are many articles on this https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/10-tips-for-mindful-eating-just-in-time-for-the-holidays-201511248698. My pre surgery class did an exercise on this and it was quite the experience with a hershy's kiss.

I was sleeved 10/22 and have not had anything raw yet. Cooked, yes. And not mushy. Firm but cooked carrots and broccoli were fine I just had to chew them a lot lot. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    October 2018 Sleevers

Friday I was cleared for all exercise. Super excited. I have a training session today and Pilates next Sunday! Yay! I was also able to put on a pair of pants today that didn't fit last year. Finally some downward movement in my waist size! Also, a question - any late October sleevers (I was 10/29) tried some of the harder raw veggies yet? I am craving carrots (they've always been one of my favorite foods), but I'm a bit scared of trying them.

    Emergency Surgery

She is absolutely adorable, I have that look on my face also, you see I too have a new friend, mine more of a pain. I now have a PICC line in my upper left arm and receive TPN 14 of every 24 hours. My gastrointestinal system is on holiday, I have had that unresolved stomal stenosis, the 5 evil ulcers, 2 near the stoma and the other 3 on the back wall of the jejunem, well Wedneday November 28th at my last endoscopy Precious Pouch was all disgruntled and swollen, the ulcers had not resolved, showed no signs of healing, truth be known, they were marching down towards the third segment of my small intestine, I had been on Carafate for over 6 weeks, kept my diet liquid and mild, avoided smokers like the plague, and I was worsening, not able to get a healing amount of protein in orally so my happy Hoohah got planted upstairs in a room on Doan 10, the Bari-surgical floor. And there I was for a full week. On Thursday November 29th I had a PICC line installed in my upper inner left arm, after 24 hours of letting things settle down on Friday November 30 My first TPN feeding was started , a 24 hour seige of it, at the end of the weekend they started stepping back to 12 hours, after that we started cycling 12 on,12 off. Monday they were satisfied I wasn't going to swing into hyper or hypoglycemia so started preparing me to come home. First Medicare( and by extension Ohio Medicaid, the tag-along) said basically" We've seen her picture, She Looks too healthy!" Hey that picture was 60 pounds ago, my color is off, I now have dimples/dents in my cheeks and a hang-dog expression on my face! Tuesday they would approve a PEG tube and an LTF(aka nursing home) placement, first of all I WOULD NOT accept a placement in one of those, worked in TOO many of those, Homie ain't going There! And fact #2. A PEG tube placement, your stomach and pyloric valve need to be accessible, never going to happen with an RnY short of open abdominal surgery. Wasn't in shape for that! So tall talking from. my surgical team, much tutorials to explain and finally Medicare relented, I could go home, with instruction my son and I could take over the care, and Frustr8 could return to her little humble home. A difference is my portable pump, which I carry around in a medium sized backpack along with my solution, runs 14 instead of 12 hours. So 14 on, 10 off. Last night we were running behind because I fixed him a good meal instead of guess & by gosh sandwiches, Oh I owed him, he has put up with cranky old me, and I do get cranky at times. So didn't get it started until after 10:30-11pm so it's still chugging along now. You really can't hear it run very easily. At a minimum we are BFF until the end of the month, and the longest, maybe FOREVER? I guess the additional protein et al is starting to make me feel better but it can be a pain in the tush to handle the logistics. But I can and shall do it, just a patch of unexpected quicksand on my Bariatric Journey😕

Try online oil. Sounds gross but works like a charm only about a mouthful, roughly 5-10 ml, at a time. Remember most of the old home remedies still work if you are willing to try them Sent from my SM-S327VL using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post-Op Vitamins?

I do 2 things to help curb the nausea with my multi. I make sure I eat something right before I take it. Usually its a rice cake with peanut butter. And I take it right before bed. That way I'm laying down not moving or anything if I get a little nauseous. Usually only lasts 5-10 minutes this way.

    October 2018 Sleevers

My surgery was on 10/17, and I've been having hard alcohol and wine in moderation and it hasn't effected my loss. I make sure I put the calories in MFP and just adjust things if I drink. I also keep it very light, never more then 2 shots worth of alcohol at a time (per day) ever. But that is just me Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Think of the junk food as the decline to surgery. And how long you have been waiting for this day. 10 pounds from what you have done is the final leg of the race. I would recommend doing a liquid diet for the next week or something as 10 pounds in a week is a lot to accomplish with food.
  19. Challenge Starting weight: 133 Todays weight 136 up a bit. Maintaining weight 125 to 135. Fitness/exercise goal: New lifting plan is fantastic. It's embarrassing to know how weak my upper body is. 💪. Less cardio has made a big difference. ( I run once a week) Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) Check in: I have my temptations in check and I'm enjoying the craziness of the holidays. I got brave and ventured into the sauna and steam room friday evening. It was heaven.👼
  20. Checking in! Check in: well, I reached a stall this week and have lost no weight. I think part of it may be that my sodium and potassium were so low that I've been having to substitute my water for Gatorade and propel. So I'm all nice and bloated. Sleeve or Bypass... help!

I also had reflux. I met with three different doctors to get opinions. One wouldn't even think of doing a sleeve on someone with reflux that requires PPIs. The other two looked at my endoscopy results, monomotry, and Ph tests and determined that, while they slightly preferred the RNY, sleeve would be fine. Basically, my Ph tests showed few reflux events, I did not have barrets, and my monomotry was perfect. I had the sleeve on 10/29. My doc wants me on PPIs for 3 months, then we'll see how it goes. I hope I made the right decision. I also had a (I know somewhat irrational) fear of rearranging my intestines. It is too early to know how it'll all turn out in the end, but so far so good. All that said, I'm hesitant to advise someone to make the choice I did given that I know it was irrational. And both of the docs who were OK with the sleeve specifically said if I'd had barrett's, I would need a bypass. Good luck with the decision.

    40yr olds...

I’m 48 and got sleeved 10/15/18. It took watching enough of my friends do it with positive outcomes for me to seriously think about it. That and a strong recommendation from my PCP. I’ve been very lucky to have had a relatively easy time adapting. My husband made me a plate of food tonight and I laughed. It was 4x what I eat now. I told him that was his, got a small plate and made up my own proper amount of cod and cheesy cauliflower.
