  1. @Cynisca, thank you for your honest opinion. I have always been a person that dots all my i's and cross my t's. I obtained one of the best bariatric surgeons in the state. He did an endoscopy and a barium test on me. The test came back and showed what I knew in my heart all along, there was way too much stomach left. So this doctor was not only rude, he failed to do my surgery correctly. Even though I feel this is an open and shut case of malpractice, all I want is my surgery done over and for my insurance company and the big group of doctors he works with to know what he did. My insurance plan did not cover revision surgery, but through God's grace, they approved me for revision. Now I'm in talks with the hospital. I told them I shouldn't have to pay another penny out of pocket for something one of their doctors didn't do right. The doctor I'm with now recently became apart of this group of doctors with my old surgeon. I prayed about it and asked him could he be fair with me and truthful about what his colleague did or didn't do. So far I have been very pleased with him. My revision surgery is January 21, 2019.

    London, UK meet up?

I live in the US, but will be visiting family outside Oxford for two weeks in May 2019. I’d love to attend a meetup if one happens then. Obviously I can’t speak to anything involving NHS, but the post-surgery experience is about the same for everyone. One thing I am hoping to do while there is go to Alton Towers and ride all the roller coasters I wouldn’t have been able to ride before the surgery!

  7. Heading towards 250, might have made it already but now I am on TPN so the malnourishment spiral. is starting to level out. No stalls as yet, still praying I make goal somewhere between September 2019 and March 2020, still aiming for 175, haven't shared this with my Dr Needleman but I honestly would accept 195-199 if I could go no lower. But at 14 weeks I am still in fairly early days, am going to stay this course, and see where the chips fall!
  8. Congratulations on reaching ONEderland! Celebrate your success! I'm still 10 lbs away and am looking forward to getting to that milestone.

    Dating

Follow Up: The Second Date. This one went much better. I'm actually surprised i decided to go. I was swayed by the possibility that the first one was nerve raking for him like interviewing, and I can be intimidating because I almost never seem nervous. I decided to remove food and stagnation and get active by choosing bowling. I got to analyze a lot of elements of his personality this way and he still seems the most genuine straight forward person I have interacted with yet. Our personalities are still not a complete match, but who's ever is. As the night closed we talked more and the past relationships conversation returned but with a lighter tone. I made remarks in regards to my personality being divergent from his Ex's and that I don't tend to dwell on prior relationships when moving into new ones, and he let me know that he doesn't either but he wants to let me know things ahead of time so I can know info that is relevant. So I can kind of see his perspective on talking about the but if I accept a third date and it comes up again as anythibg but anecdotal I will know for sure what it really is... And I don't have time for a project. He appears pretty down to earth not overly sugary sweet. Appropriately nice, ruggef around the edges, genuine and so far honest and straight forward about his intentions. Wants to see me again, Still tentative on my side. If I say yes, it will likely be sometime in early 2019.
  11. Congratulations on your 86lb loss!! I had my surgery 10/10 - only 1 day apart from you!! Don’t stress about your stall. I had a 3 week one - and then lost 10lbs the next week! It’s so odd how our bodies adjust to the surgery!! I totally agree with your non scale victories! That could have been written by me (except maybe not the running part - LOL!)
  12. Tomorrow, I have my psych evaluation. For some reason, this will take 2 hours. I have no idea what to expect! Honestly, this is my very last thing to do before they submit for final insurance approval....I feel... apathetic? At first, 2 years ago when I first brought WLS up with my doctor, I was shut down. Don't do it, she said. Wait for an innovation or pill. Then, she retired, got a new doctor, better insurance, and in February, my new doctor was like, Why not? You'll have to do 6 months of counseling first there...Let's start there. So now, it's December, and...IDK...am I waiting for something new to go wrong? I had my last RD appt 11/19. Got my surgeon referral 11/23. Had my first appt 11/28. Went to a group therapy. Things are moving fast. Maybe things are going too fast after months of snail paced action? Maybe I really want someone to say, No, you don't need this! (When I obviously do, but pride). Maybe I really haven't thought this fully through? Tomorrow should be interesting, to say the least. I know, from the boards, that second guessing yourself is normal at this stage. Should I feel so passive about it though??? Sent from my LG-G710 using BariatricPal mobile app

Talked with my insurance and they said I was approved with a scheduled surgery date of January 2, 2019. I chuckled a little bit when the insurance told me that. Because my final decision appointment is January 3rd with the surgeon and nutritionist.
  15. I wonder if it has to do with increased constipation. I was almost never constipated before I started the high protein pre-op diet. Now (10 weeks past surgery) I am ALWAYS constipated - no matter what I try! :(

    Yogurt brands

Mix sugar-free pudding mix into plain yogurt. It gives it a cheesecake texture and you can control the amount of sweetness by adding small amounts. Smoosh up berries or other fruits and add to plain. My NUT told me foods had to have 10 grams of sugar or less, so I use Chobani Hint, they use a tiny amount of real sugar and fruit. It does have more sugar than something like Triple Zero, but I have remained in ketosis with it and it hasn't encouraged cravings. The artificially sweetened yogurt literally makes me want to vomit. I wonder if you could mix half plain and half artificially sweetened to create not-to-sweet, not-too-sour.

Well, I haven't talked to my surgeon's office yet, so it's not official, but I saw my approved pre-auth on my insurance portal and it's dated for 1/17/19 so I think I have a date! Should be starting my pre-op diet right after New Year's if I'm right. Which is nice, I won't be on the diet over my birthday lol. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. My surgery date was August 16. I weighed 265 lbs on surgery day, and as of this morning, I weigh 198 - so I've lost 67 lbs in 4 months. I went through a period where I ate whatever sounded good, and didn't count my protein - and then my hair started falling out. Reading the responses to this thread, it sounds like it's just something that happens around this time if it's going to happen, so maybe a coincidence? Either way, I'm tracking my protein again and making sure I get at least 80g per day. I try not to eat anything that doesn't follow the 10 calories/1 gram of protein rule. I'm not exercising at all, beyond walking around work and playing with my kids. I get between 800-1100 calories per day right now. I'm wearing smaller clothes (a pair of pants I bought at the beginning of October are now falling off me), but I don't really feel like I look any different. I feel more bones under my skin, and my tailbone gets sore more easily when I'm sitting, so I know I have less "padding", but I think it's happened so fast my image of myself in the mirror hasn't caught up.
  19. I don't have the answers to your questions/misapprehensions. I would think it depends on the degree of broken-ness of your metabolism, and so many other factors such as: 1. Sex 2. Age 3. Activity Level 4. RMR 5. Amount of LBM and whether you actively try to build muscle 6. How big was your surgery (if you have a malabsorptive element, how big is that) 7. What year are you post surgery 8. What you eat to make up those macros. A calorie is not a calorie. 9. How your hormones are 10. How much you sleep 11. How much stress you have 12. What kinds of medications you're on I could go on and on and on...but probably won't.
  20. Hi. New to this community. I’m just about 6 months out. Lost 55lbs. I’m only 4ft 10 inches, so real hard to loose. I’ve been at a stall this month, but no weight gain. Having gallbladder surgery tomorrow. Kind of bummed. Glad to have found this site.
  21. What a wild ride. Hit my goal 10 Months post op. Hands down the best decision I have ever made for my health. I feel 20 years younger! I hope everyone is doing well

    Help!!!! I’m hungry 😀

My surgery was 12/10. I was hungry yesterday for the first time. My sister is 2 years post-op & has been super helpful. I had a slice of the Laughing Cow Babybel cheese and that did the trick. It's super soft and my surgeon approved it under my full liquid. For breakfast today I had cream of wheat but I made it with a vanilla Adkins Plus Protein shake instead of water/milk. I made it soupy and I was only able to eat about 3 tablespoons, but I've been full for over 2 hours now! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Love love love this group! ROFL! Well, MYYYYYYYY 2019 NYR is to NOT use senna tea nor smooth move tea up to 24 hours preceding any cardio activity. 🍾🎉
  25. For this reason alone I bought a new Calendar Journal for 2019. I am only 5 weeks post op, but i know tracking is my downfall. I am not always on my phone to be using the app to log food. I work all day, and have ballroom dance classes right after work and get home late. I need to be more stringent on tracking now.. or i am going to be that girl in support groups not understanding why i am not losing, but yet not having a clue as to how much i am eating.
