Am I the first one with a March 2019 date?? Just found today I’m scheduled for March 5th! I’ll be having the procedure at the University of Miami. I live in Key West, Florida. No doctors here perform the procedure on our little island. I’ll be traveling 3 hours to have the surgery. So excited!!

After a 14 day stall I’ve finally started losing again- thank the lord !! I’m down 51.5 since 11/19! I started exercising this week (had to rejoin the gym Bc it’s been so long). I keep looking at other peoples Instagrams thinking.....one day!!! Hope everyone is doing well!! This group (even though I don’t post much) has been a safe haven for me- and I’m so glad that I’ve been able to learn from all of you!

YAY!!! I am right there with you having a bit of a stall but I cheated the other day and peaked at the scale and saw it was going down this week already by 3lbs... not recording yet because fingers crossed it will be the end of my stall lol... I am happy I think I shared with you all that the doctor had told me they only expect a 15lb or 20 lb loss in the first month... by the sounds of it will are all doing great... I am shocked at how fast the changes are happening, I think people around me are noticing which is nice and a little weird like I am coming to terms with how BIG I really was and have been for such a long time, it is so nice to not be reaching for a snack or a second helping, to feel satisfied with the smaller portions. I came downstairs in a 4x shirt today and my husband laughed at me and was like you can't wear that outside in public... I was shocked Honestly I hadn't even really looked in the mirror... I had grabbed it because holiday themed, and threw it on, and he was right it was below my knees, and just looked hilarious all around... I ended up laughing and crying (happy tears) but just overwhelmed that this is working and how much I needed this in my life. I feel like I am truly going to be here to watch my daughter grow old and be the support she needs in life. I am just so grateful for chances we have before us. On another note, I am a suitable weight for the elliptical we have in the basement, and I am loving fighting with her lol I had no idea but this machine talks to you as you are working out, trying to motivate you, keep up the work, this 100% incline is nothing lol. I love yelling at this machine or answering her so fun... My husband was like um were you on the phone with the cable company (cause I have a tendency to get into arguments with cable company remote area = slow service) I was confused at first but her had heard me yelling hysterical! I really hope everyone has a great weekend, and for those celebrating a happy holiday! I can say I already have my Christmas wish for health this year, and so looking forward to 2019! I am so glad to have found this group as well! Love the support!

Hi! I have PCOS and got the full bypass in July 2016 and hit my gw by July 2016 (318 lbs to 160!). In November 2017, my husband and I started trying and... nothing happened. I finally saw my ob/gyn in the summer of 2018 and she referred me to a reproductive endocrinologist, due to the PCOS. She did a few labs and an ultrasound, decided I was an open and shut case of classic PCOS and prescribed me 10 days of estrogen to give me a period, and 5 days of a medicine called Letrozole to take in the middle of my period to trigger ovulation. I did one course of this medicine and in mid-November I found out we were pregnant! I was also losing hope, being that I’m 34, and after 18 negative pregnancy tests, it was looking gloomy. But number 19 was the lucky one. I would highly recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. They know more about PCOS than the ob/gyn or family doctor. Good luck! Don’t give up! :)

What I've Received for Xmas from My Bosses
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Rants & Raves
I work for local government and they used to throw a huge Xmas party for all of the employees a few years ago, but stopped. Now we just have a mini one with the 10 of us since I am in the office of the upper echelon. Albeit a peon myself. I feel bad for everyone else though. Although the five of them did pay out of pocket for the party themselves and now there's 300 employees..... not that they don't have the money but yeah. -

October 2018 Sleevers
aussiemomdinoaunt replied to kdiddle31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMG. Guys I finally made an old family favorite that I could eat!!!! It was our goulash! No onions seems to be the trick! The recipe made 10 cups, and I couldn't eat 1/4 of a cup! Best part is, 1/4 cup is only 57 calories! I added Protein Powder to my portion, but didn't add it into the main calories of the meal. I'm so close to getting into the 180's. I don't think I'll get there by the end of the year but who knows! [url=https://s.bariatricpal.com#/uploads/monthly_2018_12/2111102892_15453679348352.jpeg -
I had my post op appt yesterday, I was sleeved on 11/19 & lost 17lbs! I was genuinely surprised. I know my clothes are fitting looser, but I’m trying not to focus too much on my weight right now and focus on more of the nutrition. I can’t believe how much more energy I have and how much better I feel walking. I’m so excited to see how the next year goes. Has anyone made any yummy recipes for the soft stage? I feel like I’ve been boring and sticking to chicken, cheese sticks, yogurt & chili mostly. I need a little variety the next few weeks!

Hello! My surgery is scheduled on 1/14/2019.

I can tell you at 10 days out I was struggggliinngg. like 20oz of water a day and 15g of protein. It wasn't until 4 weeks that's I was able to pick things up. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

Wow 12lbs in 10 days is amazing! Everyone keeps saying mg of protein... it should be grams. I am 7 weeks out and my nutritionist and surgeon still don't expect me to hit 63g a day, although I am getting much better at it. I am at about 40-50oz of water a day. 12.5 pounds in 10 days is over a pound a day. That’s a huge loss for someone your size. If you cannot get more than 3 ounces of some thing down in a sitting do NOT force it, increased intake will come in time as your surgery matures and you are able to progress through the diet stages. This far out from surgery your fluid intake is more important than massive amounts of protein. As you are able to eat more solid foods, you will be able to reach your protein goals much easier. Sounds like you are doing fine to me. Never force yourself to eat or drink more so close out from surgery.

I've lost a little over 70lbs in a little over 10 weeks. I fully expect to be down 100lbs by the 5 month mark. May be wishful thinking but that's my hope!

Couple of things I’d note, 10 months out: - don’t compare yourself to others, focus on your own goals. - get familiar with the metric that the average VSG patient loses 60% of their excess body weight. Set expectations accordingly and train yourself to tell the difference between genuinely falling behind medically and just perceiving you’re losing slower than others (comparison) - keep in mind that this board is full of self-selecting success stories. We are NOT an accurate reflection of the group at large; those who lose less or struggle are less likely to post here consistently. - many people who go off-track get walloped by the habit/emotional side of things. Think about therapy before and after, and if you start noticing yourself sabotaging? SEE SOMEONE. - the honeymoon phase is about a year long. Don’t waste it. For me, this surgery’s been a fantastic experience. My best guess is that I was chasing a chemical high achieved when I overate; when I could no longer overeat, I couldn’t get the high anymore so all incentive to overeat dropped away. I think the experience is different for people who have habits like emotional eating or socialized/ritualized eating patterns. Then again, the experience is different for absolutely everyone, so all you can do is prep in a best-guess way and put forth your best effort. Good luck.

I had my gastric bypass Dec. 10th. I have been doing fine I have been getting 60oz of fluids down and 30mg of protein every day, Well today I started worrying that I am doing something wrong. My weight loss has been slow 12.5 pounds since surgery. How much protein was everybody else doing 10 days out. Its hard to get down 3 oz at a setting. I don't want to mess myself up.

Well Welcome Rene, I think you are one of the first, if not the absolute, February 2019 sleever. And it won't be long before others join you! May your future surgery help you towards a Healthier Life!💞

I Was Amazed When I Heard This
CyndieRI replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m 10 weeks out and had a few bites of sirloin this week and it was very tender and went down fine. Most times I have trouble with chicken. Every one is different! (Unfortunately I don’t like seafood since that seems to be the one thing almost everyone can eat!) -
From what I've read, a small amount of regain after a few years is pretty normal. If you feel that the amount gained is outside of "normal" (I would say 5-10 lbs), then the first thing you need to do is write down everything you eat in a day. If you're not someone who wants to carry around a notebook all day, go ahead and find a note app on your phone and try tracking that way. Another question I would ask is: are you grazing all day, or are you having separate meals with one or two snacks during the day?

Hello everyone! I had a gastric sleeve in April 2015 - everything went well for a while but then the weight loss stopped! I am now gaining and it is scary. I lost about 40 pounds total but now have gained about 10. Any tips on how to get back to the loss again? I watch my intake and work hard at getting the protein in. Any thoughts, ideas or recommendations will help.

I did mine and my dad's a while back, and what isn't clear is that the generic profiles are only accurate in sofar that the database they are comparing you to is large. You don't actually have 100% accuracy, what it is is, they sample a population eg. Irish and if, say, 90% of that Irish population have the same gene markers as you, then you most likely belong to that Irish population. But you could be one of the 10% of the Irish population that don't have the same profile so you get missed. So it's only an approximation. So don't expect really detailed information. I was sleeved 11/6 and I am down exactly 20 lbs since surgery. I'm down more than 60 lbs since starting this journey earlier this year. My post-surgery progress has been slower than I'd like, I've had two really prolonged stalls (10+ days) but I keep telling myself consistency pays off. I've got to increase my exercise, I know that'll help a lot. I've had a very easy recovery (minus the first week) though so overall, I am really happy!

Just got home from my post-op. 10 days out and he said I'm doing great. I've been cleared to go to the gym! Up to 15lbs, but hey! That's so exciting to me. I am 20.2lbs down since November 26th, which I'm excited about. Still full liquid until January 1.

I had my sleeve surgery Dec 17, 2018. The process was rather stretchy in the beginning. Iv,urine screen needle in stomach. Blood work. Last weight. After surgery the pain was horrific. I remember telling them im at a 10 a 10!! There wee guving me something that wasnt working. I remember a lady brung me a ginger ame with a straw. I immediately started sipping not thinking smh. I told her i cant have a straw or carbonated beverage. She told me it was fine. Which was not. I waited in recovery probably a hour. Then I went to a room. Pain was too much. I did get up and walk alot. I couldn’t release any gas only burping. I still cant stand up straight. The only incision that hurts is the main one. I haven’t been able to get any food down. Everything is nasty. Water is my best friend. Nausea is the worst and when you throw it is the wirst. Looks like greasy phlegm. Its so nasty.
