Barbara H. replied to Barbara H.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for your kind words. Looking forward to a healthier 2019. I'm grateful to be on only 2 of the 4 blood pressure meds.that I took prior to surgery. That was a gift in itself! -

Please help me, I have terrible regret RNY

Ruth, what you are feeling is completely normal. I felt the same way. I thought the rest of my life would be miserable. The first few weeks I regretted it horribly. Almost 2 years out I feel like a new person. I'm down 120 pounds, a size 12 from a 26. I'm off of close to 10 medications. The last time I saw my primary care physician he stated I was cured. I wish I would have done it years ago. I enjoy life so much more. Things will get better. Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app -

Everyone is right about ur husband, just ignore him and do it ! I am 57 and had a BMI of 35 and had spent years trying to get to my goal weight through starvation and extreme exercise , it didn’t work after menopause . I was sleeved 10 days ago and am down 20lbs . I’m not hungry and have never vomited . A little nauseau occasionally right after surgery but now I don’t even take the zofran for it z. I am walking 4.6miles a day and feel great ! -

Well I hope you are wrong and you will grow to accept instead of regret, but I appreciate your honesty through this all. I find you. a young lady I am glad to know. Happy 2019 and may things go better in your life. -
Wonderful--- now keep on with your losses! Let's see what 2019 brings for you! Guys, as a rule, lose quicker than we women do.

Just got sleeved 18 days ago. Have several goals for 2019. Kick butt at this new life and get adjusted to it. Weights and cardio several times a week. Redo my backyard (which is all rocks and will involve a great workout of removing them all and putting in grass and a firepit) and create a nice garden and grilling area that I will utilize. Go on a vacation with my wife and kids where I can actually either ride roller coasters, etc., zipline, or ride the rapids (all of which I haven't been able to do in many years, or at all in the case of ziplining).

Hey Steve , I am ur same height and entered the hospita at 231 for my Dec 20 surgery . Lost 2 lbs a day s steadily but also just hit 219 yesterday and the needle didn’t budge today . I am walking 10k steps a day (4.5mikes) and was an avid spinner but everything I’ve been told says intense exercise will increase hunger so moderate walking is best to Light the metabolic fire . My friend did this last year and said u lose quickly for a week or so , then a stall , then a quick loss again, she lost about 30 in a month . Then it really slowed down , to like 10-15 a month . So it’s pretty normal I think ..

You know when you have one of those days that you should play the lottery (I don't play)?! Well yesterday, I walking down the fish aisle at Costco lamenting on how much I miss orange roughy...my favorite fish and the fish that actually made me say that I like fish...which has been over fished and disappeared about 10 years ago. Lo, and behold, orange roughy right before my very eyes... ORANGE ROUGHY!!! One of those happy moments I will never forget, even if dementia is in my future!! Lottery score!😊 -

Ate things going any better for you @RuthD? As the year ends and 2019 loomed ahead I was wondering about you? -
Amusingly, I read this as "I've been making sharing good food on dates seem sexy", because that's what I'm focused on: eating very small portions of the food I WANT TO EAT without making things all awkward. The problem isn't picking what I eat, at 9+ months that's down pat - I know what portion and content I need to get, and how those two balance out. But taking the example of diner breakfast, I was out with two friends from out of state. I didn't realize that they'd probably pick up the bill (I drove us all over the place) so when I looked at the menu, I did the exact thing you would - looked at the side of eggs, because if food is fuel that ticks the boxes. But then I thought "No, I really don't want that - what I want is the cinnamon apple pancakes with sausage", knowing full well that I'd be able to eat a few forkfuls of each and a couple sips of coffee, but also knowing we'd linger for a couple hours. So I ordered it, again knowing that I was ordering $10 worth of food and likely to eat $2 of it (we were headed to a hospital after and there would be absolutely no reason to take it to go). What I DIDN'T really clock was that my cash-strapped friend would pick up the bill. So personally, I am completely fine with either ordering a side or ordering a full meal and only eating the bits I want. But I do notice that it's a little distressing for everyone involved. If I don't order enough, then they get self-conscious about ordering a lot. And if I don't eat the whole thing, the money/food waste kind of crops up. And that's not even getting into the waiters who go into a panic when they have to bring back a nearly-full plate to the kitchen and want an explanation for the chef.

Any August Sleevers out there?
BadWolf523 replied to sandygs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got sleeved Aug 2nd. I’m down 41 lbs since surgery and 61lbs from my starting weight before surgery. I plan on doing a 5 day pouch reset for the new year. I’ve had a few plateaus and I haven’t been great about the gym. But I’m almost out of the 200s. Haven’t been under 200 in almost 10 years -
Hi December sleevers..first congrats!...second... let's help each other get through this with positive motivation & honesty I know I need it. I was sleeved on 12/10 . I'm convinced my surgeon took my whole damn stomach out. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It is interesting... I was one week full liquids, then 2 weeks on purees. Now on Wednesday I can start softies until 10 weeks at which point I can go for it! -
If you were a small child, we could take you on our lap, hug you, pat your back , cry with you but tell you everything will be better. As adults, those options are no longer open. There is nothing wrong with seeking help, we all will need it at sometimes in our life. When we are young we can talk to an older person, if you were my family member, I would advise you to seek out a Bariatric- friendly professional. Shoot, I would accompany you to the first one for moral support. The bulimia worries me, you're punishing yourself and hurting your body in the process, skewing your electrolytes, your body will only stand so much and then bad things are going to multiply. Bulemia can lead to death, and I so don't want you lost to it. I can understand the fear of gaining back but don't sacrifice your life energy to prove your point. You need friends, we can do that but online we cannot cure you. Please. start 2019 getting emotional help, okay?

2Shea is right about your husband's issues. They're his and not yours, however, having him behind you makes the whole process much better. This can certainly work for those over 50. I was 58 when I was sleeved last February and I've lost 115 pounds in 10 months. You would likely lose more slowly since you're at a much lower starting weight, but the weight will go. See if you can bring him to a support group meeting where he can ask his questions and meet others who've been successful. Good luck! -
Hi guys Newly into WLS this site has been of great help! ( I don't have any Lab Band / WLS friends to turn too) I have just moved onto pureed foods (and yet to have a fill) *Given the time of year I have reached out to my Dietitian a few days ago however have not had a reply so I am hoping for some advice. I am finding i am able to only eat between 5-10 teaspoons of food per day. Is this a normal amount being 3 weeks out? I am not interested in eating most the time but have been advised i should be putting something in? is this the case? Fluids are not filling me up (had Pho stock day before yesterday thinking it would be enough but it wasn't doing a thing) Also pains below the band (more like above the left hip below the port, what feels like digestion occurs an hour or so after eating / drinking if i lie down straight away. is this normal too? It doesn't feel like a blockage as i time my bites, and so so so conscious about how often I'm drinking (previous skull drinker so SUPER HARD not to do that!!!) Final question!!! How often does one find they are able to drink?? I am drinking one mouthful per minute but soooo hard not to drink quicker Sorry for the questions i was not able to find these answers in past things asked. TIA

It’s so true! It depends on the surgeon and I think what he/she is comfortable with...I was given a booklet at the beginning of my process but after surgery and my first post-op appointment which was six days after surgery I was told after 10 days I could start on soft foods based on how I was doing and tolerating shakes with no problem...we just have to go with what our team suggests for us...i was so happy to get off of shakes lol. -
7 days post op I wondered... why the ^&*( did I do this.???? I felt terrible...I'm feeling better having lost some about 10 pounds... but not getting my energy back as quickly as I thought I would. I had bronchitis & pheumonia, before my surgery... so I'm sure that took a toll on my body... still swollen a little... can't take a bath... I think it will be good...soon...and I won't regret it...
