Best MGB surgeon in INDIA?
ideal_weight replied to ideal_weight's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
No, regular bypass is more complicated and pouch is way too small. I am looking forward to MGB as its relatively new and easier to do and best part is its reversible if body is not adapting to it. no insurance here so i can choose what surgery i would like. Though iam having second thoughts about surgery and iam thinking i should try to loose weight naturally with full determination. -

AETNA POS LAPBAND TO SLEEVE CONVERSION
mdonahue4688 replied to mdonahue4688's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@Deedee12, the clinical policy for this states for revision approval you need to show compliance with diet and exercise...how did you do that? When I was successful with the band I didn't go to the Dr. very often, and prior to going to see the Dr. who will be doing my revision I hadn't seen someone for my band in almost 1.5 years so I'm nervous I'll get denied despite having tubing that is disconnected, a mispositioned port, and a slipped band. Thanks! -
Gastric sleeve to gastric bypass

I had the revision surgery from sleeve to bypass a little over a month ago. I stayed one night in the hospital, no real complications to report. Have you gotten a surgery date yet? -
"Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I did call a bunch of other surgeon's in a 50 mile radius of my house and NOT A SINGLE ONE did arm lifts! They ALL just do boob jobs and lipo and facial stuff. Very weird. And several of the receptionist "never heard of" insurance for a tummy tuck and I explained I had gastric bypass and they said "they don't *do* that"... although I probably have less skin on my tummy than someone who gave birth once. Unless he says something totally absurd, I feel good about seeing my guy again. -
Should I do this??
Briswife15 replied to caithriona's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the gastric bypass not the band, so I have no experience with it, but if I were you I would do a lot of research before having a gastric band so you are aware of all the pros and cons. Good luck with whatever you choose! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
RNY or Sleeve
deletedprofile123 replied to kim2girls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The decision is entirely yours but here's my story, and I hope it helps with your decision making process: I was sleeved almost 7 years ago. Since then, I have developed severe GERD — never had any issues with acid reflux before surgery... I have become severely anemic (ferritin currently at 4.5), constantly needing iron infusions, developed malabsorption (my doctor says I am "nutritionally crippled"), a thyroid and an autoimmune disorder, a high inflammation/SED rate, and most recently, have been diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy. My sleeve is not to blame for any/all of these things, nor can I pin my complete weight regain on it. Bottomline: I honestly would not consider the sleeve if there is already an existing acid reflux problem. Both surgeries require discipline when it comes to supplementation — the RNY clearly requiring more as not only the stomach but a portion of the intestines is bypassed. Good luck on your journey! -
VSG to RNY Revision. Anyone?
deletedprofile123 replied to d258's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It's such a relief finding people who can relate to what I am going through! I was sleeved August 2012. I'm currently being considered for RNY revision due to GERD and several other reasons. I'm also anxious but excited. Very happy for those of you who are now GERD-free! -
Any ESG providers in Mexico or other lower cost countries?
AZhiker replied to batsinhats's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, you can get the surgery for lower cost outside the US. But if there are complications (like what happened to my friend who got her bypass in Mexico) you are left without support and can end up costing way more. My friend got an infection and ended up in ICU and needing more surgery. She was basically sent home after surgery and left to fend for herself. I am sure not all cases end like this, but it seems like taking more of a risk than necessary. JMHO. -
I thought that might be the case. Try going back to focusing on protein and cut out sliders. Go and see your surgeon and discuss with him/her how to proceed. You may need a fill or infill. I had the same issues and was told by my surgeon that he didn’t think I would be able to get my band to “ work” again. Apparently they have discovered that they have a limited lifespan and after a while they cause serious issues like oesophageal failure. I was suffering bad reflux with a limited amount of fill but was still hungry and putting on weight. I revised to RNY in Jan and am very happy. I have lost all my excess weight and my diet is now far healthier than with the band.

What surgery did you have? Some surgeries from a while ago seem to have lived their lifespan and are very hard to get going again, in these instances a revision may be required.

How does a person know when they have to go back to surgeon for revision?
-
I take an antidepressant and an anxiety medication and it doesn't hurt me, but I had the sleeve, not the bypass.

Best MGB surgeon in INDIA?
Briswife15 replied to ideal_weight's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
MGB isn't that common. My insurance wouldn't pay for it. Have you considered a regular gastric bypass? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Restriction Feeling 2+ years out?
biginjapan replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2.5 years out and I can tell you that although I had some restriction after surgery (mostly, I think due to the swelling of the wound and the time it takes to heal), by 6 months out I could eat what others could only do at 2+ years out (full chicken breast, some veggies, etc.). I never felt a restriction the same way that others have mentioned - I could move ahead much faster in trying new foods post-op than what was recommended (I didn't, but could have). Now I'm looking at getting a revision to bypass because clearly the restriction of the sleeve did not work for me. I know it's not just the sleeve, part of it was the mental side of things. For me, I've come to realise that there is no going back to normal eating patterns. The new food/portion control is for LIFE. Fail at that, the sleeve can fail (at least, it did in my case). I remember the day after my surgery crying to one of my doctors that I didn't believe that they did the surgery (despite the scars and tubes and everything else) because I wasn't in any real pain, had no nausea, and was full of energy, the complete opposite to every other patient in the hospital when I was there. She told me I was one of the lucky ones that come out of surgery feeling good and that I should be thankful for it. She then showed me a picture of my stomach that was cut out (to prove it) and said that it was longer than usual. I sometimes wonder if, because of that, I didn't have the same restriction as others. Anyway, long story short, everyone has a different reaction post-op to surgery. You may be someone who feels restriction years out so it will help you keep portions small. You may be someone who feels less restriction as time goes on, which means you have to have the mental strength and determination to stick to what is right, and not be distracted or influenced by others in what you eat. Either way, the best way to keep your sleeve small and unstretched to be vigilant in portion control and drinking protocols. Maybe forever. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
froufrou replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Great job Anna! I'm losing again - about a pound a day, which over time averages out at about l.5 lbs a week. It's so weird how it just stops for a while and then it's like a release. The trick is hanging on while the stall happens and not get discouraged. The wonderful thing is that I can't over eat even if I wanted to right now. Restriction is still there. I'm now a total of 112 lbs down (sleeve and bypass), 50 lbs down from bypass AND I am 6 lbs away from matching the weight on my driver's license! hahaha I have another 75 lbs to go till my goal weight! I can't quite believe it... I can actually see it on the horizon now. -
I'm 5 weeks post op from my revision to bypass. I basically feel queasy after every meal. I guess my question is, will this ever stop or is this just the new reality of life? thanks

Bypass v’s Sleeve..... help!
biginjapan replied to MinnieSD's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I got the sleeve back in Feb '17 and now am in full research mode to get the bypass done sometime early next year. I should have done it in the first place, but like many others, thought the sleeve would be less invasive and I wouldn't have to worry about supplementation the rest of my life. But since the operation I've have had very little restriction and the only thing that kept the weight off was sticking to a very strictly controlled low-carb diet. Once I tried to integrate back into regular life (albeit with smaller portions) I gained a lot of weight back. It's clear I have a sugar addiction and I hope the bypass will cure me of that through negative reinforcement (although I know that's not guaranteed). All my attempts to "reset" my sleeve have failed, so I hope this process will be the one that sticks. -
I was July 10th if last year. Down 120 lbs after bypass. Good luck! It’s going to be a crazy year ❤️

212 days post op and I’m finally able to drink water again today without any flavoring! Before bypass i loved drinking water but after it all tasted like toilet water....not that I know but that’s what I imagined. Hopefully it continues. Heck of a journey so far. 98 pounds down post op today. I’ll be at that magical 100 very soon!

It took 9 days for my insurance to approve my July 3 gastric bypass. Good luck to you!
