    Stomach feels "backed up"

Of course, it's always best to give your doc office a call with any concerns. When is your next appointment? I am 3 months out tomorrow. I have never been able to eat as much as most everyone else can. My food almost always feels 'stuck' for hours. No drinking for 30 min before and 30 min after? Ha! I can't drink for at least an hour or two after I eat anything with dense Protein involved. I do have another appointment next week so I'll talk to my doctor then about me. How big of a bite are you taking? Does Water hurt? Do warm things feel weird too? Sometimes temperature plays a part in this as well. Can you do Protein drinks OK?
  2. Hello all...I really do not know how this works. Anyway here goes.. I am over 50 and I live with and take care of my 76 yr old mother. She had back to back strokes approximately 10 yrs ago. Recently she had another stroke. She has to go back into rehab soon. (shes not released from hospital yet) During all this mess I have tested positive for Covid. I would like some help with questions i have regarding both our well-being. Scheduled for my last office visit for next week and don't know how this (covid) may affect securing a surgery date. Any information out there from anyone in a similar situation would be most welcome.

    Lapband Changing My Life

My husband has been very nasty to me over the years as my weight ballooned. We've been married 17 years. Its probably one of the reasons i gained so much over emotional eating in the first place. I was told six weeks wait after surgery for the fill. Another six for follow up fill. And check back at six months. But i haven't had a surgeon consult yet for details. They wait for approval. Do i have bad info on the process timing?

    Falling back into habits

Hey @Sotired92 that's a rough one. My surgery was only a few days before yours in fact. You lost a great amount of weight though, and so you know that you DO know how and that you CAN do this. It's not a once-and-for-all-never-struggle-again kind of thing for some of us who feel pretty well addicted to food or certain foods. I know I see myself start to plateau for a couple weeks, then my logging food slips away, then treats become daily habits and my calories creep up and the plateau continues ... So this last time I let it go to 4 weeks of a plateau and then started being more proactive about what I knew worked. Sort of 'taking myself in hand' if you will, and it really made a good bit of difference, and tiny success built me up for next steps and more successes. By success, I mean my behavior matching up with my goals, not even the scale numbers, although that happened too. I live in the NW and so I know the frustration of the weather thing! Consider a full spectrum light to lift the emotional gloom perhaps, and try to be bold about outfitting yourself and going out in it anyway. Then you get to feel proud of yourself too! Lots of people are good with the gym - I go for weight training but can't stand running on a treadmill - i'd rather do it in the rain myself. Good luck and try not to feel too discouraged. Catching yourself at 8 pounds and noticing the habits is such a good thing! Good for you doing that. Next steps are possible - you can do this. cheering you on - Kate

You gained 4 pound on vacation! You're fine! I know what you mean though...I'm a year out and I am obsessive about making sure I weigh everyday because it is so easy to gain it back. Four pounds though on vacation is nothing, particularly if you are stressed out about it. To me that shows that you are very cognizant of the gain and that a week or two of healthy, normal eating, and you'll be right back to your regular weight in no time. Now if you had gained 40...we might have to talk, lol.
  6. Hello uk sleevers! I am 2 weeks post off and find this forum the best support there is. I was wondering if there are fellow sleevers from London, and if anyone from Homerton hospital!
  7. Oh Boy, I must admit I'm a bit afraid to get on the scale this week. It seems that this entire week was filled with friends and relatives either going out to eat, or coming over to my house with a ton of cookies and candy. Just one bite of this and that, a chocolate whatever, some homemade pasta and a nibble or two. No time to exercise. Be afraid, be very afraid. I feel as if I've gained alot of weight, but I'm hoping its all in my head. (and not on my hips) Wish me luck as I approach the scale.

    Hi

Im 10 weeks post op. Started at 256, SW 244 and I am 216 today. Lol. I have been on a stall and flunctuatung by 2 pounds for weeks. Slow loser as well. I feel like I am doing something wrong but everyone seems to say I am fine so I am trying to just be ok with it and stick with my plan.

    Hi

My sw was 280… I’m a little over 9 months out and I’m down 101lbs. At 3 months out, I was down around 45lbs. I’ve had a few stalls here and there but I couldn’t be happier. Remember - it’s a staircase, not a slope.
  10. Hi yes I have to lose 5lbs when I next see my dietician on the 12th oct and then start the milk diet on the 17th for 2 weeks before surgery :-)

    Need a quick answer.

Well I noticed one major thing, my feet shrank down to a size 9! I've been a size 10 shoe for 11yrs, I was a woman's 9 since I was 10yrs old. I was able to grab a new pair of shoes in my new/old size today. For me this is huge. I haven't needed my lasix since the last week of January. Here's hoping my congestive heart failure is in remission.

    Need caffine!!!!

I have a cup of coffee every morning. Can't start my day without it. I stopped drinking it on my pre-op diet and resumed about 2 weeks post-op. While it is always best to follow your own surgeon's protocol, I don't see where it would hurt you.

    Preop Loss

I start my pre-op tomorrow 3 weeks until surgery. I better lose, I barely get to eat anything. Ugh. Can't believe it's getting so close.

    what was your miserable phase?

Hi Teacup, I hear that! Said the exact same thing to my surgeon last week for my two weeks post op check. It does not help that the hunger isn't even a motivation. I am 6 days from a month and I have to say hang in there, it definitely gets better[emoji5] Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

    what was your miserable phase?

Congrats on your loss so far! That's a great, steady rate. I look forward to my turn. Currently 3 weeks post op and so far lost 12 on preop liquid diet and 18 postop. I am running a bit slow but then I am only now starting to get all my protein in. Water is the hardest to drink I can't understand it! Slowly adjusting... 16. I am 36 weeks today and have gained about 4 pounds. My OB told me I didn't need to get unfilled and could even get more fill if it helped me regulate my weight and the baby was growing well. I had very little restriction at the beginning of the pregnancy but now I am pretty restricted. Everything is going great, though, so I do not plan to unfill.
  17. I am astounded at how many bandsters have gained so little weight during pregnancy. Well, I can tell you that for me, the lap band has been no match for pregnancy hormones which have kept me eating constantly up until this point (14 weeks). I have definitely gained a good amount of weight already and I still have my fill. I don't have much restriction although you'd think I would. Still, I don't want to develop a complex about it, so I'm trying not to make it a big deal. I am eating out of genuine physical hunger, not for emotional issues (which was the cause of my weight problems before)-- so I believe in doing what my body tells me to do. I know that after my pregnancy, when all these hormones are out of my system and I have my normal energy back, I'll be back on track eating my tiny meals and working out like crazy. But I just refuse to obsess about weightloss/weight gain during pregnancy.

    DKA--diabetic fun for everyone

No. A week or so after surgery, it ran slightly high. Since then it has been FABULOUS. (Except for the times my pump malfunctions.)
  19. do you know if you have any fluid in your band yet? I am almost four months post op and I wasnt suppose to have any fluid in and about a week after my surgery I still could barly get liquid down and when I went in for my 1st week visit they ended up pulling out 3cc's so with 3'ccs and the amount of swelling I had made me miserable for longer than most people. It is still normal though to feel the way you do..sometimes it just takes a few weeks. I would reccomend just taking small sips...my doctor told me a sip every couple minutes..I know that sounds crazy but it did work for me but you are literally drinking every minute of the day:) hang in there and call your doctor if you feel that something just isnt quite right...thats what I did and I am glad I did cause after they took some out I felt immediate relief:)
  20. I was banded 11/15/10 and I am finally feeling "almost" normal. You will get there. I was also surprised at how horrible I felt. I actually thought I would be able to go shopping by the end of the first week. NOT! It was much worse than I thought, but thankfully, each day gets a little better. I hate to exercise, but my surgeon said to take a minimum of 10 minute walks 4 times per day. It sucked to get out and do that while holding my side, but it actually made me feel better each time. It helped with gas and soreness in my back from sitting too long. I sipped broth, Protein shakes, and liquid Jello. Fat Free cream of chicken Soup (strained) seemed yummy after all those thin liquids. As for soft/mushy which is what I am on now, I live off canned tuna and chicken. I put the tuna in the food chopper with pickle juice and f.f. mayo. Chicken add some fat free gravy and blend with food chopper. They are both easy for me to get down and a good source of protein. Hang in there! It will get much better and it will be worth it!! There's so much proof of that on here.

    Just got banded 11/7

Hello - I hope your healing goes well! I'm banded 3 weeks today (Oct 19th). My port area is still sore sometimes, I think it takes a good 4 weeks (or more) to totally heal that area. Don't get me wrong, it's MUCH better now than 1 week post-op. Every now and then I'll bend the wrong way, or stretch ... EEEYOWCH! Just hang in there, after 2 weeks you'll feel much better, then it's just little "reminders" of pain here and there. Good luck!

    Torn...

Up until 3 weeks ago I was convinced I wanted the lap band. I met the HAPPIEST lady ever when I went for my consultation and she had the sleeve. She was so happy and had her 2 small grand kids with her. I know that I was looking for the least evasive but now I am thinking the sleeve looks better because of the maintenance of the lap band. How painful and how long is the sleeve recovery?

    Pills after surgery

My program allows anything the size of a pencil eraser or smaller immediately. I think they said to wait on the bigger stuff 8 weeks - but I was taking smaller capsules earlier than that. I'd say it was right around 8 weeks when I felt like I could take something really big without discomfort.

    Pills after surgery

I was told eight weeks in my information. You need to clarify this with the surgeon. He needs to give you an actual answer. I started slowly introducing smaller medicine, smaller than a regular m and m, after that time. I’ve not had trouble since but never had problems swallowing pills. I still use chewable vitamins.

    Slow loser

I am starting to feel very discouraged because of how slowly I'm losing weight. It's been 11.5 weeks since my surgery and I'm down 34 lbs. I've seen some people lose that amount in the first month. Granted, I'm not getting enough water and I'm not exercising as regularly as I should, but I would expect the lack of calories alone would result in faster weight loss. I'm worried about my 3 month post-op appointment on the 28th. I'm afraid my surgeon will be unhappy with my progress. I am already so down on myself about it, I can't handle hearing from someone else that it's not enough. ????
