Don't worry about the scales....you need to focus on NSV (none scale victories) for example loose clothing....I have went from a size 50-52 and is currently wearing 40-42, but I still want to lose more weight. Be encouraged!

Congratulations, Dawg! NSVs make it all worthwhile. :biggrin1:

Sound Off On Post Op Appetite

Hunger... *sigh* it's been a rough afternoon for me. Celebrated my first nsv, then it was capoot. I'm less than a week out and I'm already wanting something "different". I pretty much cried all afternoon. No regrets, but it's a grieving process for me. I'm grieving the loss of my life time friend, lover and companion - food. Yes, I knew this was part of "it" - blah blah. It still has thrown me for a loop. However - actual hunger - nope, not yet! Good luck to you! -
Hey, thanks. You've just started your great journey. You'll love all the NSV like (you mentioned) walking up stairs, parking all the way across from the supermarket just so you can walk, housework without tiring quickly or aching, shopping wherever you want, passing a store window and smiling...

NSV...Stretchy Leggings in...Gasp PUBLIC
apple-saucy posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So I wore some stretchy capri length leggings out of the house to go to our little local grocery store last night. I had on a shirt that used to be tight on me but is now tunic length or looks like a maternity shirt now (LOL) so my rear end had full coverage...but I wore LEGGINGS OUT OF THE HOUSE! -
Remember this, we didn't gain it overnight, we wont lose it overnight. How many diets have we tried, without equal success, for months only to go back to our normal eating habits out of anger/depression? The sleeve is a tool that aids us in making healthier choices daily. We will be way healthier in the long run. Remember to track the NSVs (non scale victories) and the weight will come off as long as you are doing what you should [:

Woohoo Cashley and Pugmum! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Only when we are ready to accept the truth will we be truly able to change it. Right on ladies. It's always refreshing to hear people who aren't afraid of speaking honestly about why they aren't progressing as they would like. If we all did this, we'd see a huge number of people shouting out happy reports and NSV's every day.

Yay! Down 32lbs since surgery Nov 7th and I just went to my hairdresser and wasn't disgusted having to look at myself in her mirror for an hour.

Great NSV. "It's the little things in life..." like your butt now .

Was thinking about non scale victories the other day while on my thinking chair...yup, the toilet and it dawned on me. My best NSV so far is fitting in a regular stall... No more having to use the handicap stalls for me. I can "think" like the regular folks in the tiny stalls that are everywhere. No longer do I have to wait just because someone else is in the big stall. It's the little pleasures like this that make me thankful for making the decision I did. @@SleevaDiva great question above by @@2goldengirl i would also love to hear your story in depth as much as you want to share you have a lot to say do you mind if i ask you if plastics will be done in the near future?? can't imagine the health benefits you've gone through all the NSV's you've experienced is it hard mentally to see your new self in a long mirror?? if your story turns out to be a short novel that's ok - i'll drink water to your health while i read i haven't read a good story in a long time you are amazing i can't even imagine how you feel this and similar success stories from other people should be listed for newbies, people deciding still to have WLS but all the rest of "us" love a good success story too Happy Surgiversary kathy congrats -
Lol! Same here. The cold weather here is gone (70s right now) but I just HAD to buy a new coat because I am traveling overseas next week. It is the same brand and model than last years, but 2 sizes down AND it won't fit next winter! Like you said this losing weight thing sucks and is costly! Congrats on your intolerable NSV. lol

Very good advice here. Measurements, NSVs, and PICTURES. I never saw how overweight I was until I looked at pictures someone took of me. Then I was really surprised and sad. Now pictures tell a different story. PROGRESS!!!

Thanks for sharing this Diva. It has me thinking... When you are obese there is no where to hide. We try taking cover behind other people or a child in a photo. We try to squeeze ourselves into a movie theater seat and pray that no one needs to get by and use the bathroom. We do mental calcuations as to whether or not that plastic chair or kayak amusement park ride or zip line or horse will hold us. And one thing that we all so desprately want is to blend in, and be noticed for our great smile, hair, eyes, or shining personality, yet when someone is talking to us or looking at us, the obesity is THERE. The elephant in the room so to speak (truly pardon the pun.) It's so nice to shed enough weight to be/look normal. LOVE THIS! Woo hoo. Congrats on your NSV!!!

Ok I'm a loser...what does NSV stand for????

Hello crowd! I haven't been posting much I know, I've been really really busy at home and at work too. It has taken all my time and time posting here has been very limited. I had a kinda strange NSV last night and thought I'd share it. I was a little bit perplexed by it and thought, wow... do I really look THAT different? Strange... Anyway, my Mom and I have been commuting to work together for the past few days. My Mom just started back up to work and she works near where I do. We thought it would be a good idea because then we can share on gas and have use of the carpool lane too... which is great!! Plus our schedules work out perfectly so she can drop me at my office and pick me up after since I work 9 hours a day. Well, yesterday I had to wait on her because she made a quick stop at the grocery store. As I was standing by the curb waiting for her, I started playing on my Droid phone. I wasn't really paying enough attention I guess to those pulling up and waiting or picking up others. She made her way there and got out to get into the passenger side (she hates driving in gridlock so I do it). Well, next thing I know I hear my Mom call my name, so I go over and get into the car. She looks at me confused and said, "I didn't even recognize you at first!!" LOL!!! I just looked at her and said.. "you didn't recognize me?" She said, "No, you look so skinny and I didn't know that was you!" Haaahhaaa!! I just chuckled, but I was really surprised to hear this. You know, My Mom lives with us so she freakin sees me every day. I guess in this situation it was a bit different, because she had to scan me amongst others around. Not only that I see friends every single day and I'm even having to go out of my way to say hello to them and they always look shocked and say, "oh my goodness hey!! I didn't even recognize you!" They mean to just walk right past me... it's so funny!! It does make me a little sad too but hey I guess they'll get used to the new me eventually. I just never imagined that in 6 months I would change so much physically that folks I see day in and day out wouldn't even recognize me from afar.

My First Week On Self-Imposed Liquid Protein Diet. (Start: 667, Current: 557)
Patrick Curl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the week, I feel like my journey REALLY began. I began a self-imposed liquid diet(mostly liquid anyhow). I got my surgery date! (July 2nd Yay!) I lost 10 pounds. I have been really pushing myself to workout. I just got back from krogers where I parked at the back of the parking lot, and walked as long as I could inside before getting a shopping cart to lean on - and then I couldn't find what I was looking for so literally spent like 25-30 minutes walking today.. Now last week I couldn't walk around the block. I've also been doing Ultimate Fighting Challenge on Xbox Kinect almost nightly, and am trying to start up turbo-jam. After I get through w/ turbo-jam I'm going to begin doing P90X - that'll be um...interesting. Each night before bed I do stair pushups as well and squats in front of the stairs(so I can fall back and sit down when I need to lol). I started w/ 5 stair pushups and am now at 20 on the 6th stair up. When I get to 50 I'm moving down a stair. My diet has been really good and I just feel really on track and motivated...though could always use more SVs and NSVs lol to keep me motivated - I just hope I'm building a lot of muscle which will weigh more but in the end help me lose more too. I'm attaching my weekly food/exercise journal - I think I did pretty good...except for Friday and Saturday. Each day is a new day, and I'm finding this forum to be a HUGE wealth of information and motivation. I think the forum is almost as good as the surgery itself! - -well not the forum, but the people in it, and the community here. Thanks for welcoming me! Non-Scale Victories Thread

This is great nsv: I've been able to walk for 1.5 miles come in and bike for an additional 10 min. Pretty good for someone that couldn't make it from parking lot to my classroom without huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf. Also, can bend down and tie my shoes! I used to have to have to finagle all around the couch to get the task done. And the biggest "one my positive attitude" is affecting my DH we actually - playfully wrestled the other night...been a long time since that happened. He's been wonderfully supportive! Non-Scale Victories Thread
Florida Pete replied to EmeraldCoastPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's great reading everyone's NSV. It really goes to show how quickly we can make a change in our lives. For me the most recent NSV is one that I never really thought of. The other morning my wife and I got up and before I went out of the bedroom we went to hug. Well she goes to me, "Look at this I can touch my fingers together around you now." Not that she was just touching her finger tips she was actually pushing them together. Well it felt great that I have lost enough that she can do that! =) -

Wow Pete Way to GO! My NSV is that I'm wearing jeans that were to tight and uncomfortable to wear. People are noticing and telling me that they can really see it and that I look healthier!
