Sleeve revision to bypass for GERD and Hiatal Hernia
Roserie replied to jskittles7694's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have Kaiser. I had the sleeve in 2013. I've had severe reflux for the last 2yrs. They had also found a hiatal hernia recently. From the discovery of the hernia to surgery date it took me about 6mths to get a revision. I didn't have any issue getting insurance to approve it for medical reasons. -

I just had the revision for reflux. Granted I'm barely on the moist diet but I haven't had any reflux since surgery. -
* HELP HOW many days in hospital???
Roserie replied to New&Improved's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had VSG to RNY revision. I went in on a Wednesday. Surgery lasted 5hrs and I went home Friday night. They told me I could stay one more day if I felt like i needed it but I chose to go home. -
Ok, I know, I know, totally HUGE clothes. But no tengo deneiro (sp?) for new right now. Today was surgery day and I wanted super comfy and warm cuz the hospitals are always freezing. This is my official GOAL #3 day! I revised my goal #3 weight to be my original 130lbs. Cuz guess what? I DID it! I FINALLY made a for reals major end goal!!!! I can honestly say and give myself permission to be super proud of not only my progress and journey, but of seeing a weight loss goal through to desitination. It feels like...victory. Or napalm. Not quite sure. It's like, once I relaxed INTO the reality that I was in maintenance and wasn't trying to lose anymore, my body said, "Psych, bi*ch! JK. We're still gonna get ya to the original destination!" So I honestly don't see a lot of diff in this 130lb Goal #3 pic and the few previous ones. I am sure y'all will say its due to outfit selection and being too big.

I had a lower body lift 14 months ago (which is the whole lower body - not just a panniculectomy). Recovery from that was much tougher than it was from gastric bypass. I had hardly any pain at all from bypass surgery. The first week of LBL recovery was pretty painful. After that, it was more discomfort than pain. But it was all worth it in the end. I'd do it again.

Hi everyone ! Has anyone had an abdominal panniculectomy after WLS? I scheduled mine for December but wondering what recovery looks like and how it compares to the pain/recovery from Gastric Bypass Surgery. Any thoughts/input would be appreciated! Thanks, Sarah

Don't get a lapband. I had one for three years and it was miserable. I revised to a duodenal switch and lost 80 pounds. Don't waste your money on a band.

lap band removal - how did you heal?
Msbosse replied to loridee24's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am having my lap band and revision to sleeve in one surgery on October 7th. Thank you 😊 all for your experiences. -
I am so excited to get this lap band removed. I was banded June 2012 and have had all kinds of problems and not allot of weight loss. I have been approved and my surgery date for the sleeve is October 7! 😀😁

I had gastric bypass on 8/28 and have lost 23.2 lbs since. My highest weight was 275 when I went for my consult but I had a very active job over the summer so I lost some weight before the surgery. HW: 275 Surgery day: 266 Current: 242.3 I've been back at work since a week after surgery, with permission, since I'm just on orientation right now. Overall I feel fantastic. A week after surgery I felt completely normal, like I didn't have surgery at all. I was shocked at how quickly I bounced back. My only complaint is ridiculous hip pain at night that wakes me up. My physical therapist said that people who have bariatric surgery are at risk for hip and core problems because the body can't adjust as quickly as the weight comes off. I'm seriously considering going once a week to get this under control, I'll see what my surgeon says when I see him next week.

Gastric Sleeve 12th August, Dilation OGD 17th August, Emergency Bypass 20th August. 5 foot 10" HW 115 kg (253 lbs) SW 112 kg (246 lbs) CW 96kg (211 lbs) So far lost 19kg (41.8 lbs) So after 3 procedures and just over 2 weeks in hospital, I am still getting tired easily. But I go for a gentle walk every other day (around 5km a week = 3miles). I am starting to be able to do more around the house and my wounds all look good, especially considering they were re-opened! Bending is still uncomfortable on my tummy but much easier than before the op. What I do love is my clothes hanging off me LOL and I can get up the stairs without huffing and puffing OR having to use the handrail to help pull myself up Our stairs are very steep so it's a pretty big non-scale victory (NSV) for me Bit miffed that I have worked out I am definitely lactose intolerant now and in a big way. But had some great tips from some of these forums veterans. I am still on pureed food, not sure when I get to real food, but I'm not in a rush, pureed is better than liquids so I am happy to wait if I have to. Kudos to those of you that have gone back to work, I wouldn't have been able to yet if I did work! Everyone seems to be doing a great job

GASTRIC BYPASS REVISE FROM GASTRIC SLEEVE
eladams2015 replied to nomorefattypatty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a revision to bypass from sleeve for severe reflux issues. I wish I had started out with the bypass in the first place. It is like night and day difference to not have that constant reflux happening. -
Finally, my surgery date is October 15th. I have to get a few tests done over because they were due again due to timing but finally my revision is going to get done. I'm praying for no more acid reflux. Keep you posted! Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

I'd be happy to support you, although I had bypass. I live on NW area of Tucson.

yep for 8 whole days lol, my gut was not happy about it and I had to have an emergency bypass but it only happens to 0.2% of people so my new mantra is that 'I took one for the team' lol

Hi! I too will need a buddy and hope that putting myself here will help that happen. I have my pre-OP apt next Tues! Woohoo! I'm done with all of my appointments! Phewww! I'm still nervous cause I think that this is not real until the day I actually check in for surgery. I hope to have an Oct date and have been going back and forth between the sleeve and bypass. I am already working on mindful eating and the 30/30/30. That is the hardest thing for me so far cause I want to immediately drink water after I eat. Lol Anyhow, I would love to keep on touch with u and wish u well on this amazing journey![emoji4]
