  1. Is there anyone who has had to have a revision to an arm lift. I had one last year and while it is significantly better, it's still bad. The dr. said he can do it again but that the skin is so stretched that while it will be better it won't be perfect. He said the scar tissue shouldn't be an issue. I always heard working around scar tissue is difficult. Before and After pictures - thoughts? Would you do it again? (he said he would do it for free if I had lipo on the thighs which I had been thinking about) (see other post on flabby thighs)
  2. Wow that’s amazing progress! I’m so thankful you responded back to me! Sounds like you’re having a happy ending. Any advice on the revision? Anything you would change or prepare for? What would you tell yourself before the surgery?
  3. Congrats!! I'm so happy for you! how has your journey been with revision?

    Port help!

Everything is finally okay. My wound is clean and closed. It's not a pretty scar, but at least the thing is closed. Dr. Billy said I could have a new port in November, but I won't be able to afford one for another year or so. Kelly, if your port is really uncomfortable, they can do a fairly simple port revision surgery. I'm starting to hear that they are placing the ports deeper, because the port too close to the surface can cause problems. Babs, I feel like a walking science project.
  5. 2 weeks post-op check up today from NAND removal, all is well. Tentative bypass revision February 11, 2013....seems like forever but thrilled he decided I didn't have to wait a year.
  6. I'm going to try to get in on this challenge this month. I'd like to lose 5kg before Christmas but it may be difficult. I have a port revision scheduled for Tuesday so I doubt I will win the challenge, but I'm gonna try to walk on the treadmill in the days after. When I feel better I'll get back to curves. I started there just last month and I really liked it, but then I got sick and haven't been back in a week. I'm hoping that with the port revision and my 2nd fill (it will be 6cc in a VG band) I will be able to get some restriction, after these 6 months I have still been able to eat more or less normally and I haven't had much success so far, so wish me luck!
  7. Your surgeon is correct. I previously had the lap band, it failed me & I regained nearly all the weight. This past July, I had a revision done to remove the band and get the gastric bypass, in two months, I've lost 84 lbs and I feel absolutely great! Not to say I didn't have a few complications, which worked themselves out, but I'm very happy I had it done because I feel confident I won't gain it back Good luck to you & everyone embarking on this journey!
  8. I just had the sleeve revision to gastric bypass on 6/13/23 and I am a little nervous now after reading a lot of these posts regarding the lack of weight loss.
  9. I hope you get good information from the surgeon and begin a pathway to revision and improved health! GERD sucks, I suffered with it for years and I'm awaiting revision from Band to Bypass now. Best wishes!

    New Member, Revised!

Congrats on your revision! Looking forward to hearing more as your journey progresses.
  11. Anyone had the sleeve and getting a revision due to having no restriction and weight gain? I was Sleeved April 2015 and only lost 60lbs. I’m scheduled for revision on Sept. 4th. I lost my restriction with my sleeve 6 months out and could eat regularly. I don’t have GERD issues. I’m nervous for my bypass because I keep seeing soooo many stories of people not losing enough weight or really slow. My highest weight with the sleeve was 330 in 2015. I’m currently 320. Anyone loss 100+ lbs after revision?

    Tummy Tuck 8/21

I have a FDL and it's healing really well. I also had a ton of skin above my navel and a regular TT wouldn't have taken care of it at all. I'm actually having it revised in my next surgery to take more/extend it a little higher as I still have loose skin there even with the first FDL. I can't easily post pics from my work computer, but I can later if that would be helpful. As far as needing help, I think after a couple days you should really be okay especially without any muscle repair. Just take it very easy.

    Scared To Fail Again...

same here, band removed revised to a sleeve 12/10. not even a week out for me yet. after i failed to lose anything with the band (and being hungry most of the time) i felt like i was a failure. i decided to try the sleeve but also worried i'd be a failure at that. well, i have done it. i feel ok about the prospects for weight loss.

    Depression & Anti-Depressants

Don't worry about it. Many of us battle depression and continue to take anti-depressants before, during and after surgery. The psych appointment is just to check that you understand the surgery and all of the implications of the post-op lifestyle changes, assess your level of commitment as it impacts your potential success, determine if you have an appropriate support system in place or have the coping tools to manage on your own and things like that. They are trying to ensure your success, not screen you out since they get paid for surgery and the accompanying program. Some meds may need to be changed depending on the type of surgery you have. Are you really considering lap band? Many surgeons no longer perform lap band surgery due to the rate of complications and the high failure rate. They are not permanent, you know that, right? Many lap band patients are revised with sleeve surgery or RNY. You might read about their experiences on this forum and others like it before you make a final decision. Good luck!

    Lapband slipped twice

I have Anthem BC BS. I had band surgery in fall 2007..worked pretty good until summer of 2008...had a blockage, then gall bladder removed in November 2008..surgeon took out band and repositioned it during that surgery (that option not even discussed before the gall bladder removal). Anyway, it never worked right again. So, November 2013 I have requested to it removed and revised to the RNY. Insurance okayed band removal, but denied the RNY. I had to go thru all the nut classes, and psych evaluation again. will finish that up next week, and resubmit the RNY request. I will let you know what the out come is, I hope by the end of February. I am getting quite anxious and still nervous that they will deny me again. Good luck to you, I have seen many on here that have no problem getting approval for revisions.
  16. Hi the more I read on this site the more excited I get about getting a revision from band to RNY and finally getting this weight off for the first time in my life. I’m 55 years old though. 5 foot 2 in and 240. If I lose 80 pounds or more at this age will I still look fat with all this hanging skin? Maybe I shouldn’t be worried about something so trivial?
  17. I am scheduled for 6/17 to have my band removed and revision to VSG. I am only about 15 lbs from my goal and I'm wondering, did any of you who only had a little to lose when being revised, have issues with hair loss? I lost so much hair from about months 4 through 8 with my band and that was pretty much during the time I lost most of my weight. I am praying that I dont have to go through that again! Thanks in advance!

    Totally inappropriate question

I use Kamasutra Brand Spearmint Stimulating G. Tastes like spearmint, kind of numbs things and gets him tingly and if you gently blow on it it's even better. http://www.loverspackage.com/p-70966-kama-sutra-pleasure-balm.aspx At this point they are worried if your "gagging". Right after I got banded I was careful with the gagging cause for us, that could lead to worse things. So just take it easy. Distract him with new things. I will be revising hopefully in march and will need new tricks for then!

    Update three monthes out

I know you probably feel sad but might think of this way. 1 lb is one stick of butter etc 45 sticks is ALOT something to be VERY VERY proud of! I havent had a revision yet. Just starting the insurance process. BuT i just started weight watchers this week to help me loose some of the 45 lbs i gained back. My insurance also wants us to loose 10%. So Ww will help with that also.

    VSG to RNY anyone?

Can I ask how much you lost after the revision? I'm have a ways to goal and Am hoping this kick starts the weight loss again. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone
  22. When I met my husband in 2007, I was smaller still overweight but smaller. I worked out with a trainer and was very active. He was about 270 and he is 6ft tall. I like chubby boys too :-). Well he proposed and got serious and dropped about 40lbs he is very muscular so at 230 he looked amazing. I have gained weight throughout the years. He went to NUT with me and worked out with me. He saw my struggle and understood my decision for surgery. He even did preop horrible diet with me for 2weeks! So here I am needing revision surgery for health related reasons and he is still my biggest cheerleader. We have spoken about this subject. I can't imagine us ever leaving one another. He wants me to be healthy and happy. Plus he knows when I feel better about myself I am friskier! I do believe that with weight loss comes confidence. If there are issues pre surgery they are even become more evident post surgery. The decision to have surgery is so emotional, a strong support system is key. If people are not supportive I think it is important to purge them.

    Still on the fence

I have a disorder (diabetes insipidus) that puts me at significantly more risk for death due to electrolyte imbalance and/or dehydration than your average person (it is quite rare). I didn't know I had the disorder until I had the surgery (the post recovery fluid intake restrictions brought it to light, I was diagnosed 18 hours after the surgery) and I'm still glad I did it. I had a lap-band that did nothing for me - NOTHING. I decided to go for the revision, but deep in my heart I feared that it would be the same thing with the sleeve, up through and right after the surgery. But it wasn't the crap shoot the lap band was. Despite how work it was to manage the kidney disorder in the first few weeks, it turned out to be the right call. The initial paranoia about protein intake and fluid intake is no longer - listening to my body and adding a few vitamins to my routine provides all of the nutritional content I need. Other than being a little low on iron, I really don't have to think about it much. I lost a lot of weight quickly, but then I leveled out to a few pounds per week, and now at almost 4 months I'm about halfway to my goal weight. I had a very, very rough time of it after my surgery, but I got through it, and all the hard work was worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Don't let the band discourage you - the sleeve actually works!

    Still on the fence

I am still on the fence too. You will find no shortage of stories on here about remarkable progress with the sleeve and how people just love it. Co-morbidities reversed or gone, being able to do things they couldn't do before. Being healthy. However, and here is the caveat: WLS is a crap shoot. You don't know what your results will be until after you have it. Will you be a successful one? One who can eat most any food but just smaller quantities or the one who is in pain for 2 hours from a crouton? One who will have to drink most meals and eat mostly Protein - with few carbs - fruits and veggies (based on your surgeons recommendation). I have read all this on here and everything in between while I make my decision. Also be aware - this might not matter to you now if you're young - but most surgeons don't allow NSAIDS for life - and when you get older and develop conditions like arthritis you won't be able to take NSAIDS for it. GERD can be problematic with the sleeve. It got worse for some who had it prior to surgery or developed in some who didn't. Again, many will be taking medication for this for life. Most posts on here talk about the amount of Water and protein that is required daily for success. Plus Vitamins and minerals. All WLS requires a great deal of compliance. But like I said it's a crap shoot. I know, I went through all this with the band and I hate it. It has never done one thing it was promoted as doing. Now I have it and it is unfilled. Not sure of the revision surgery, though. Good luck in making your decision. There is no shortage of information on here. Look over all of it - good and bad - to help you decide.

    Bands to Sleeves less successful

I've heard this too, and it does frighten me a bit, but so did living at 200+ lbs, so I'm willing to take my chances. I've read that revisions are less likely to loose their total amount, but haven't been able to tell if that's to "normal" (i.e., chart) weight or some other chosen weight. I'm already past 50% now, and while I'm happy, I don't have plans to settle for 165.
