    Will This Ever Pass

The first week to ten days post-op were the hardest for me. Your body is reeling from the surgery, and all those hormones that were being stored in your fat cells are being released. But you WILL feel better...sooner than you'd expect. Just keep sipping your liquids, and try to walk around the house to work all that air out of you that they pumped in for the surgery.

    When Will I Start Losing?

I asked this same question last week. Everyone was very helpful and it really just takes time for your body to heal. I think its from all the pain and stress from the surgery that I wanted some results right away. I also worried that I was doing something wrong. Don't worry at it
  3. Alright Twins we are almost 1 week out and just wondering how everyone is doing/feeling and do you have any new full liquid ideas???? Well I was released from the hospital on Tuesday night, thinking OMG what did I do to myself, but as the days have gone by times are definitely easier. This morning I woke up to almost no pain. My only issue is that I was allergic to the tape that they used on the incisions.

  5. I had that stabbing pain too - would hit me if I turned or bent wrong. There was always a dull lingering pain around that incision. I was assured there was not a hernia. I had it spike again yesterday putting up xmas decorations (3 weeks post op). Today - woke up and is the first time I don't have that pain at all. I am in shock. Reflux - do you sleep at an incline? Have you tried? That helped me the first couple weeks. Now I am able to sleep laying down. As long as I don't have food (just keep to protein shakes) before bed, I don't wake up with reflux. Also - I am sure you have tried - but have you been doing tiny sips? Like taking 15 mins to drink 1-2oz over that 15 mins? Took me awhile to get my sipping down to not being gulps. That helped a ton. I am now about to take 1oz sips and it is not a problem unless I do 2-3 in a row. Your surgeon sounds like a prick, good or not, he should at least show some empathy for your concerns and discomfort. I definitely would see your normal doc about the rash.

    Regularity

Mine has also drastically changed - but in the other direction... I used to go only 2-3 times a week, if I was lucky. I also had issues where when I had to go, I had to go. Now I go about every other day, but it's a little harder - literally. I've tried fiber, but you have to take like 5 pills in one serving and I already take all my other meds, makes it really difficult. I mentioned it to my doc and he said I won't go as much because I don't eat as much. My body is absorbing most of it for nutrition, but I need to make sure I am getting enough fiber in my diet. Good luck and let us know if you learn any secrets!

  8. I am post-op surgery October 12, 2012. I just had my second fluid remevol within 2 weeks today. I am not able to hold any fluid or food down. My doctor says I may possibly have a slippage and have to get a swallow test. I was also told possible surgery and have it put back into place. Does anyone know how the slippage is possible? I forgot to ask my doctor about this and what are my options. I also need to know how soon after the removal of fluid can I eat solid food. So far I have not eaten and I am afraid if I try I will vomit. Please help!
  9. I got into a pair of sz 10 pants that have been hanging in my closet for 2 yrs and I maybe wore them 3 times before I out grew them last time that may seem small but I'm only 5' so I would like to eventually be in a 4-6. I am weighing less now than I have weighed in years. I have lost 30 since I began the vsg journey and 21 since surgery which was 7 weeks ago today. This morning I was 173 goal is about 135. 10. You just can't think about it like that - and it sounds like maybe you think too much about it. Let it go with a big deep breath. I lost an aquaintance who never got to her first post on this forum (I found it out about 2 weeks ago) we had been texting after meeting in the doctors office, then nothing...don't let death rule you while you are living...I have had to deal with that too much. Bright pink and red energy for you to use to burn away the worries...

    Please Help-Post Op Question

Everyone is different, but I definitely could have done it. But with an eight hour class, you need to plan for your day. Make sure you have plenty of Water to drink and something you can easily eat for lunch. If it were me, I would do a Protein Shake because I know I wouldn't have any issues getting it down. You'll have a better idea of what lunch would work for you after your surgery (tastes and tolerances change) and you can plan for it the week of your class. Good luck!
  12. I could have done it no problem at 3 weeks out. Tracey is right... make sure you have plenty of water and a snack.
  13. That's great your home. The first week was hard for me i couldn't get more than a couple oz's an hour but it was all worth it. Just remember everyday dose get easier Sent from my DROID RAZR using RNYTalk

    Periods After Surgery?

I had surgery Monday and started my period last night....a week and a half early!
  15. There are literally more things that impact weightloss (and fatloss) than you & I could count together, so I'm not sure where to start. Your info says you're down 22 lbs do I'm assuming you lost some pre-op. That has to be factored in. Losing is losing. You don't lose "before" and "after". It's cumulative. So don't inore the weight you lost pre-op. You also have to factor in an average over time. You're going to have rapid loss, and slow loss, and no loss. But are you maintaining a good rate on average? It's also fairly common for weightloss to slow a biut when you hit solid Proteins, and if you're already eating lean meats and vegetables then it sounds like you hit them pretty early. That might be playing a role. 10 pounds in 3 weeks is over 3 lbs per week. That's above the average rate of loss. There's a lot going on inside your body. A lot of things changing and adjusting. Almost all of them are based on Fluid, and fluid is heavy. I ate under 650 cals for 10 weeks and lost nothing. Obvioulsy I can't truly lose nothing on that intake, or no one would ever be able to starve to death. But there were things going on in my body that kept my weight (not necessarily my fat) unchanged. There are also "rabbits" and "tortoises". Men tend to lose a lot faster. People with more to lose tend to lose faster. Etc. Just be patient.
  16. Thank you guys. I did lose more weight pre-op. You are right...weight loss is weight loss. I know, I read that some people were kept on strict liquid diets for many weeks after surgery. My Doctor said one to two weeks of liquid and I was supposed to be making sure 40 - 50 grams of protein were consumed during the first two weeks. Then, I was told in week 2-3 to puree' meat and vegetables and to introduce soft foods as I can handle them. I have not had any problems eating food that wasn't puree'd. I guess I just need to be patient.

    In Fill Limbo!

Wow! You and I are only 2 days apart in our surgery dates! Awesome! You need a fill! I just got another fill last week and I'm at 3.0 in my 4.0 band. I finally have restriction and feel great. This is the best fill I've ever had. I can still eat some and not slime or throw up. I feel it's the first time I've hit a "sweet spot". SO, if I were you, I'd go in a couple of segments. Get a fill, try it for 10-14 days, and go back and back until you are just right and losing. I had to do an unfill in Dec. and I went back 4 times to get to 3.0 and get it where I needed it. And, I have to drive 5 hours each way. I went every 10-14 days until I was where I needed to be. DO IT! Good luck!!!

    A day to go

Well, its been a hard few weeks. I have been away on business and drinking shakes, yuck! Tomorrow is the BIG day, surgery at 2:30. So excited and scared at the same time. Looking forward to that bikini when the time is right. My family is behind me, however, my mom is scared for "surgery". Explained that this was a way to prevent future medical issues. Kids are worried but they don't say anything, I can just see it in thier faces. Husband has been great so far!! I could not have asked for a better family!! Co-Workers are so supportive. I have a great team in place for great results. Hugs all !!

    When you first realize it.

Can anyone out there in LBT world remember the first incident that triggered the faint click in your mind? The click that echoes and reverberates through the walls of your brain even after you've lost a couple pounds and have vowed to shut your gob, suck in your gut and face the world without your trusty BigMac in hand (brrrr, scary, I know). It's a very distinct sound. It's different for everyone but recognizable nonetheless. The click is what you hear when you can no longer endure living in your own skin because basically it hangs too low and threatens to wipe the floors in your wake, causing many janitors to lose their jobs to redundancy. Good job people! You managed to locate a reason for janitors to hate you for being fat. Congratulations, that leaves...native cannibals on the list of People Who Won't Judge You For How Much You Weigh. You probably wouldn't want to go after the cannibals though...I hear they don't make good BFFs... It happens so fast (ze click), you have to wonder, "Where the hell have I been for the past *insert number of years* of my life?!" Oh yes, it's happened to me. I remember it quite vividly actually. It was a normal day like any other day. I woke up at 5:30 PM (I'm somewhat nocturnal), rolled out of bed, landed on the floor with a loud thud that probably killed the old man with a heart condition living downstairs, laughed at myself for a few idle minutes, then got up to survery the damage done to my already effed up visage. I took one look in the mirror, counted the number of chins a-a-a-and CLICK. The next thing I know, I'm having a nervous breakdown and a jar of peanut butter magically materializes into my palm. I can't even remember if I used a spoon...It's safe to say this emotional eating thing is a vicious cycle that bites you in the ass when you're not looking. And if you are looking, that just makes the guilt a whole lot more insufferable and you just end up eating more to make yourself feel better for eating more. See? Vicious cycle. So anywho, after summoning the jar of PB away, I grabbed the phone and called my mother, who was at work. I had the firm conviction that I had composed myself emotionally enough to talk to my mother in a mature manner to impress her and show off that I, too, can be an adult. When she picked up and said, "Hello?" I broke down sobbing. There's something about your mother's voice that just tugs on your heart strings like, say, caramel apple crumble on a warm summer day would. Naturally, my speech was not coherent enough to be understood by any other Joe, but mothers have acute aural senses when it comes to their kids. She understood everything I was saying and told me to hang up. The minute I did, the sobbing stopped (I know, wtf, right?). She called again and told me that I had an appointment with a well-known surgeon to discuss the lap-band and, of course, I broke down crying once again. Once Niagara Falls passed, I sat down dreaming of the lap-band. 12 days later, they shoved one in me and sent me on my merry, hobbling way. 3 weeks later, still going strong like a rainbow in a gay parade minus the extra hobble. <3 Thank you once again for wasting about 3 minutes of your life to read about mine! For all those who suggested I write my own book (only one person did), I'm proud to say that I already am, lol. I'm not a published writer. Not yet, anyway. Until next time! *Smoke and stealthy getaway*
  22. I'm 7 weeks post op and last night I started having horrible cramping and diarrhea. It's almost 24 hours later and it's still there. I'm not sure what's going on...it didn't start until like 5 hours after I ate yesterday and now within an hour after eating I'm running to the bathroom ...I'm miserable!! Do you think this is dumping or a bug of some kind? I'll be calling my Dr in the morning if I still feel this way.
  23. I am 3 weeks and 2 days post band and still feel tugging sometimes around my incisions. Near my belly button and my port area seem to be the worse after I have finished my walk. Just wondering if anyone else has this going on. Nothing too painful just uncomfortable at time. It seems to ease once I have rested.
  24. Hey I'm 7 weeks post op and feeling great....my friends have been asking me to go out with them....I haven't seen them for so long because I was to ashamed to be out at my preop weight.....so is it way to soon for a drink????

    Sipping

No. You'll be able to drink more water at a time in just a few weeks. The sips are so you don't end up trapping air in your new sleeve, which can be VERY painful.
