    December 2018 Sleevers!

Sophie don’t worry about the stall. I was told it’s normal. Just keep getting in your protein and water. My nutritionist told me I should be sipping from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. Except when 30min before and after a meal. So one of the ladies in my post op support group said she sets her alarm for every 8mins and takes a sip. I’ve been doing that since Monday and it is working. I drink my Premier protein drink and then I eat high protein food like Greek yogurt, turkey, etc. I was taking the Celebrate Complete 45mg but it made me nauseous and I would vomit within 5mins of taking it. So I talk to my nutritionist and I order the bariatric advantage multi vitamin chew and the chewy Iron 30mg. I chew two a day. I also do the bariatric advantage chewy 500mg calcium. Works well for me.
  2. I am an RnY and they don't perform the swallow test on us. I guess I am going to have to "bite the bullet" and request an EGD. What I'm told differs from the one we have prior to surgery, they go in , puff it up , check for strictures, and if necessary they can inflate the balloon on the end and dialate my stoma between my pouch and my re -routed intestine. I have been hoping it was swelling that hadn't gone down. And now at 12 Am I am trying Butternut squash soup, just a small amount. Since cottage cheese, Greek yogurt. and thinly pureed meats aren't staying down. let's try something vegetable based. Can't even handle thin cream of cereals

    January Bandsters???

I was allowed to have things like yogurt, pudding, hot cereals, protein shakes and all that fun stuff on day 3. My nutriontionist just happened to call me today and I told her I was craving cheese and she suggested the Laughing Cow stuff just because if it's creamy consistency. She told me I can have regular cheese on day 8.

    June 30th Sleevers?

@@bnm4 I am definitely eating more. I get in 800 calories a day. I get the shakes and feel horrible if I don't. I'm still mostly on liquids with cottage cheese and yogurt added in. To get my protein up, I add Unjury unflavored protein to almost everything. I have good muscle mass and hair I want to keep! I can start more puréed foods, I've just been kind of disinterested in going into the cooking mode yet. I eat some soups, but they're really high in sodium. I wish I could pay someone to be my personal bariatric chef!

Okay, catching up with everyone, so here goes a long one! :cheers2: Yes, I get heartburn on occasion, too. HOWEVER, when my fill was too tight, it was excruciating. I was so glad to get my unfill! Good luck on quitting the sweets, too...that's great that y'all are all doing it together! P.S. Your ass is not too big for a bike, girlie! Get on it! LOL Hooray for four days with no ice cream, Suzzzie! That is awesome! Yes, smack that bitch down for teasing your with Cold Stone! LOL Birthday party there? Ummm...NO. How'd the gym go? Dissapointed that you lost six pounds? Are you crazy, girl? That is six pounds that I pray you never see again! And YOU got rid of them...so pat yourself on the back and get "back on the stick" again tomorrow with this new fill! And size 14? That is GREAT! As far as seeing only fat in the mirror, I wish I knew the answer to that...you have to love yourself and no one can give that to you...but WE love you! OMG, the PB ones?!?!? I'd all but given up on them ever reaching anywhere for me to try the PB ones! Where did you get them from? GNC is supposed to get them before anyone, and they don't have them yet! ARGH! Okay, how the hell did I miss that you started C25K? Or did I just forget? (Prolly! LOL) If you don't mind, would you PM me details of how it is going for you? You and I are running about neck and neck it seems and I just put that off and put that off. It could be that I am freaking addicted to cycling, too! I really, really, really want to do a triathalon this fall, but I have GOT to get running! I am finding, also, that since my unfill I will get an excruciating headache if I don't eat enough. With me, if I eat a piece of turkey jerky, it usually disappears quickly, so mine must be a protein thing. And the turkey jerkey is so tender that I haven't had issues with it going down at all as of yet. That may have been timing, though, because I've found that since my unfill, my band is completely fickle...sometimes I can eat anything if I take it slow, and many times yogurt may barely trickle through. Only the good Lord knows why! I hope you get your insulin under control, Missy. I'm kind of freaked out today on my side. I went back to my doc for a four-week follow up and I DO have diabetes. I was in shock. But he also said that my levels are not bad and getting the rest of my weight off would likely correct it. Then he put me on the 10MCG Byetta instead of the 5MCG. Word to the wise if you are prescribed Byetta...keep it in the fridge always...not just the one night before you start it like the insert says. It loses potency as the month goes by if you keep it at room temperature. Found that out the hard way this last two weeks! I'm glad to hear the fill is doing well for you, Dan! And let us know how the girl thing goes...we're rooting for you! And "AMEN" on the ice cream comment! I have to eat it till it's gone, too! My last bit of Buttered Pecan went tonight and I'm not buying any more! Absolutely! And hopefully Karla will post where she got the peanut butter ones ordered from! You can order the Caramel Nut Chocolate ones from many places, but the best price I usually find on just about anything is here: Bodybuilding.com - Supreme Protein Product Listing - On Sale! Lowest Prices For Supreme Protein! If anyone knows a cheaper place, please let us know! (Make sure y'all are ordering the "Carb Conscious" version or they WILL make you gain weight!)

Yeah, you need to come down here. It's COLD in FL and we're having the best winter since we've been coming down here, I think. See... weatherman just said.. warmest weather here in the whole continental US! Temps hit 80 in most areas of So CA.. We were at least 75. NO.. Food Cop doesn't scare me! I just had a busy day. We went shopping after water aerobics. Michaels, Trader Joe's, Starbucks, bank, Walmart, back to the bank (!), then Costco! Oh, yeah... and the hobby store to pick up all the parts for the two broken airplanes!! Then we had a glass of wine, a little cheese, watched some Judge Judy and had some grilled steak. Tilapia never go finished yesterday. In fact when I posted that I was half done and having trouble... I quit. I was eating so slow that Earl was finished with his dinner before I took my first bite! Then he kept trying to take my plate away because I was eating slow. After a while, I just let him take it because I was obviously not getting anything else down. Tonight... filet.... somewhere between 3 and 4 oz. I ate it all... but VERY slowly. Had a few peas with it, and sauteed mushrooms and onions. BF was a nature valley granola bar... 190 cal. Lunch... snacks at Costco... taste of Healthy Choice chicken noodle soup, small piece of a chicken burrito, little piece of cheese, 1 cracker w/dab of cream cheese and sm piece of smoked salmon and 2 bites of yogurt. I think that was it. I guess there was chicken sausage there somewhere, but I missed it. Oh.. I had a couple of bites of curry chicken at TJ's. It was pretty tasty. I might try making that. They were serving it over rice... that kind of rice that starst with a "b" that I can't think of right now. Down 2 lb at TOPS today. I'm getting so annoyed with them I don't think I'm going to let them elect me leader again. I had a frustration last week when I showed up with all my stuff and was told, "Oh, we decided we'd just have a weigh in this morning"... no meeting because it was New Years Eve. Excuse me?? Our meeting is at 8 a.m.!! And if they were going to decide that (while I was out of town Christmas week) someone should've sent me an email or called me on the phone to let me know! So this week... I get there a little before 8 am. to get weighed. We have a basket we put fruint and healthy snacks in... everyone is uppsoed to contribute something and then the best loser of the week gets to take it home. So I go to put something in the fruit basket and it's empty! So I said, "didn't anyone else bringh anything for he basket today???" Weight Recorder says... "Oh, I already gave it to Betty. She lost 3 lb and I didn't figure anyone was going to beat her>" Betty had already left. The fruit basket is supposed to be awarded during the meeting. You don't give it to someone who is "probably" going to be the best loser before the meeting even starts! And it's not supposed to go to someone who isn't even staying for the meeting! I was sort of ticked off but kept my mouth shut. But, I'm abut ready to be done. All summer when I was gone I kept asking them to email me copies of the minutes and they never communicated anything! Okay, enough about that!! It's killing me not to have any Papaya when I have problems like I had last night with the tilapia. But if it's here... once I start, I just keep popping them in like M & Ms! So... no more! Cut back on my wine. Now am addicted to Challenge Sudoku on FB! HELP ME!! It's time for bed.

I also am a liquid breakfast person - my same holy Protein shake every morning, and I love it so. As I've said before (or thought, but not written), I think that the shake is a good thing to do; I have this theory (probably voodoo physiology, but, there you go) that the less your stomach gets stretched, the more it gets used to being empty, and the less hungry you feel with an empty tum. I realize that during these absurdly hot summer days, I've been eating mostly liquids/mushies - today I had my shake for breakfast, some Indian creamed spinach and cheese thing for lunch, some crab chowder with a little fresh basil oil for dinner, and then some yogurt with peach sauce for dessert. I NO LONGER NEED MY TEETH!

Places to get liquid protein samples

I like Body Fortress Whey Isolate Chocolate, its the best I have tried so far. EAS was okay but has a bland chocolate taste that leaves a weird after taste. I also get protein from Cottage Cheese and Yogurt. Next week I can add pureed meats and vegetables, So I can change it up some. This is the easiest thing I have ever did diet wise. The sleeve is absolutely amazing!

Good Morning Gang... Read last nite when I came to turn the computer off - but needed to get to bed.. Ended up eating popcorn & greek yogurt (w/cream cheese) for dinner - that's all I wanted ;0) - so that's what I ate.. Phyl - I would say we walked for about 3 hrs - you did really well - that was the most that you had walked at the outlets since we have been going - I thought you did VERY well ;0).. What will the pain doc do - Hugs about the back issues - its sure a bitch getting old isn't it - we have all this stuff we want to do - and our stupid bodies are deteriorating My wrist is 7 I think - that's the size bracelets I order ;0) and they are lose - but that's how I like to wear them.. Karla - You are to sweet - We love you .. Yep extended time w/family - Talked to Joseph last night - Kaitlin cleaned up did homework -but he says Melissa is mad at everyone - when she got home the other night she didn't talk to Kaitlin at all.. Didn't deal w/the situation - I think she's depressed - She acted that way when I was up there- she'a always been on the grouchy side (negative) I know that my DS isn't the easiest person to live with - the problem is they are all lazy imho - Joseph says he's staying in Mexico when we go ;0) - he's not coming back lol.. I think her weight (close to 280ish) is dragging her down - then the out of control family - she was on antidepressants a while ago - don't know if she still is.. Well that's their life - I can't do a darn thing about it - but am telling you - I will be on the beach ignoring them if they are too depressing.. Candice - Proud of you for sticking to it !!!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I had my band out due to a slip and revised to RNY on Feb 21. I am now down to 205 which is 3 pounds higher than I was when I was at my lowest post lap band. I miss being able to eat sugar ( I dump on even tiny amounts of sugar). My tastes have changed tremendously since the RNY. I used to love Protein shakes and now choke them down. I have difficulty with hard Proteins still even with the band out, so it was not the band causing my delayed gastric emptying. I no longer throw up on a daily basis but other than that I really feel the band was a better life for me. It's a learning process and I'm scared about malabsorption of Vitamins and minerals. I have to say that I am rarely hungry which is different than my experience with the band. My last two years with the band I could not really fill enough because of the delayed gastric emptying so I was hungry but when I ate anything besides slider foods I had to make it come back up after a few hours because it would not go down. So I just wanted to post an update. It's good to see familiar names around here. Hang in there and keep with it. I wish I had chosen Greek yogurt over Hagen Das and soft cooked veggies over Ben and Jerry but alas I did not, so now I chose RNY. For better or worse. Good luck to everyone. Keep using the tool. Christine

How was your 5:2 day today?

I can't type with my wrist brace on. I did really well today. I've had 2 Protein Shakes and Greek Yogurt. It's not a fast day. I'll have something else later. I wish my weight would not bounce all over. I want to see 140 not going up not down. I was 145 a few days ago and 147 this morning, and I haven't been eating wrong. I did my fast right yesterday. Ha Ha. People want in our group and all I am doing is gaining weight!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hey guys - thanks. Yeah. I've been eating crap foods... chips, cookies, etc. Though I have laid off of the ice cream lately. Lol. Today I sorta got back on track - started with protein shake and vitamins... had yogurt and then broccoli for lunch.. but after work I remembered I still had about 1/3 bag of sour cream and onion chips and ate those... and dipped into a canister of choc cake icing. I need an intervention. I need to be rich and famous so I can have a trainer come drag me out of bed and kick my ass all day everyday. I need to remind myself WHY I had surgery in the first place. Since this gain, I look at my scars and wonder what I did to myself. I do not regret the band at all... I LOVE my band! I just wonder why I thought it was going to be so easy... and this past year has probably been the hardest ever (food wise.) IF and WHEN i eat 'right' my fill is great. They REALLY need to come up with a sugar/chocolate proof band. Lol. And no... I haven't been exercising. At all... not walking, going to the gym, or riding. I have all of the typical excuses... busy, hot, raining... but really... my gym is indoors, air conditioned, and open 24 hours - which is against every single one of my 'excuses'... so basically I'm just lazy. I s.w.e.a.r. I was going to walk this evening, but after the chips and icing I felt self defeated and generally sad. And it was like 95 out and very humid. So, go ahead. Kick my ass. Please. I get paid on Friday - when I go to the store I will buy NOTHING but fruits and veggies and other various healthy bandster friendly foods. ANd I"ve re-commited to doing protein shakes and taking my vitamins daily, which I hadn't done in months!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Wow... eeerily quiet around here!!! J - I plan on taking my bike out tomorrow for a spin. I haven't tried it since I got my new padded bike capris... so we'll see how it goes. Since my unfil on Monday I've been eating crap foods. Ice cream, Doritos, yogurt covered pretzels, m&m's... yeah. I need to make myself eat something substantial tonight. I'm thinking about trying a veggie 'riblet'. We'll see. I've been a croceting fool lately. Been making these fuzzy flip flops.... I've got several colors/styles/sizes... If you'll want some, let me know. $5 kids, $7 adults... I'm selling them at work and saving the money for my medical missions trip to Nigeria. I really need to go do something other than sit on my ass...

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I got to looking at my old food logs trying to see how I was eating when I was losing better, so I'm trying to relive some of those days with my food. It's not all together bad, things like adding fruit not granola to my yogurt and drinking tea, not coffee in the morning. At any rate, I'm 5 pounds behind my monthly goal of 10 pounds, and I need to dig a little deeper. It's not the workouts, it's the food. So here we go.

Chim, Isn't it strange how some of us aren't hungry and some are??? I don't get it, exact same surgeries, but completely different results early on! I guess it will level out, but just amazes me! Don't feel bad about the ice cream ... that's a little thing ... I had yogurt one night last week and it was divine!!! LOL Sure made me feel better, lol!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Wow we really do all deserve each other! I've been moving towards the no meat thing for some time. I'm a mega bitch, too. And I have a BAD problem with starting and not finishing. LOL My thing with fruits and veggies is that I enjoy them most and also I have such a hard time with meat, anyhow. I will continue with fish, however. I have to have my salmon! I do still have milk, eggs, yogurt and the like. So not quite vegetarian, but definitely MUCH healthier.

This is going to sound so obvious it's stupid but please do try your best not to vomit AT ALL between now and your surgery date. If you have a slip and a lot of inflammation they may not be able to revise you to a sleeve at the same time as band removal. You need for all the swelling to go down in order to have a safe revision. Risks are already triple for a revision vs. if you never had a band. Swelling makes it much worse. Milk and yogurt? (eye roll)

baylormom - i bought unflavored soy protein at GNC for $13. i add it to soup and yogurt for xtra protein and it can get clumpy but it doesn;t bother me too much. i hate Isopure it leaves a film in my mouth. i'd rather add protein to other things. ericsmom - keep your chin up is you can;t vent to us who can you vent to?!? you're doing great! although i can;t wait to get off liquids, i worry about hitting a plateau or gaining when i get to mushies. it's a long, GRADUAL process and we have to remember that. karik, you have the right idea! p.s. great job on the bmi points!
  19. Hi all - banded 11/3 - and doing very well. I am planning on going back to work tomorrow. Down about 8 pounds so far, yea! I am on liquids + yogurt/puddings without any chuncks for 3 weeks, so I am already finding that challenging. I add sugar free vanilla starbucks syrup in my vanilla Protein shakes, they are wonderful. Had a little bit of a challenge yesterday, was spending the day with DH and friends and we wound up going to Carabbas... I ordered Mama's chicken Soup, and tried to eat just the broth, but it was really hard with them all eating that wonderful bread, big salads and pizza. I brought the soup home and will strain for dinner tonight. DH and I used to eat out all the time, fortunately he is very sensitive to me not being able to eat anything right now. Although I do look forward to going out and ordering great salmon! Little worried about heading back to work. I think I will feel ok, but I didn't tell anyone I was having this done. I will have to cover the bruise from the IV with makeup, and worried about lack of energy. Did you guys tell everyone? Anyone else secretive here? I joined a Christmas challenge on this website too. Hopefully another way to keep motivated! Soph

    Pre-op weight 220lbs or under

Try to find shakes with higher protein count, especially if you can't drink as much. I know you said whey protein is making you nauseus but try. It's very important that you get that protein. Are you on soft stuff yet? Greek yogurt is high in protein. Met-rx protein plus has 51g per serving.
  21. I was told that that particular yogurt didn't have any sugar added.

    December Bandsters 2009

K banded on friday- don't remember much. My mom came and got me and took care of me for the last 2 days... I strictly stayed on the 48hr post op diet. Today I had yogurt. Then I got daring and had a couple of pinches from a piece of pumpkin bread, then 2 deviled eggs, then a teaspoon of all of the following: mashed potato, stuffing, green bean casserole, jello salad, and a bite of turkey. Yes it was "turkmas" at my house... and I ate basically a bite or two of everything with no issues. I intend onn having pumpkin pie later too.. The surgery was quick and annoying (the nursing staff and anantheisiologist) and I don't remember friday, yesterday was sore and gassy. Today was less sore, more gassy. But I woke up hungry and wanting to eat, not a lot, just eat something of substance. So far so good. I know I know post op diet.. you do you, I'll do me

    August Roll Call

Thanks for the tip - was hoping for a chewable vitamin and I happen to be going to Costco today anyway. I may need to pick up some more Premier Protein while I'm there. I hate plain vanilla, but I've been using it as a base for smoothies. This morning I mixed it with a non-fat Chobani blueberry yogurt, some fresh blueberries and ice. It is my favorite one so far. So flavorful - yum! I wouldn't be surviving preop if I couldn't add to these shakes. Hope everyone is doing well!

Omg! I Don't Like Greek Yogurt...

I have wasted so much money in 10 month on trying every brand and flavor I think of Greek yogurt! . I simply cannot stand the taste! I take one taste, and in the trash it goes. I am through with it! Kudos to all of you who can stand the taste. I have to spend my money now on new clothes and can't waste anymore on this stuff! LOL!
