Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?
Luna805 replied to Lanie Hardy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here’s a few examples for food for a day: Breakfast: 1 Oikos Tripppe Zero yogurt (I almost eat entire serving) and 2 cut up strawberries Or.. 8oz Soymilk blended with Premier Vanilla protein powder, 2 tbsp PB2, cinnamon & squirt of stevia (cup of ice) Lunch: 1-2 oz Grilled Salmon with Capers Or 1-2 oz Grilled chicken. I’ll make a Caprese Salad (mozzarella, oil, basil & balsamic glaze drizzle) Dinner: Steamed Green Beans and left over protein from lunch. Snacks: blueberries, whole almonds or protein shakes. I’ll sneak in a few whole wheat ritz crackers every few days. Simple foods are what is settling good right now. Drinking water with a splash of Gatorade Zero for flavor or a Mio splash for flavor. That’s it! Love to hear any other ideas -
August 26 Sleevers
BarnGirlWK replied to Sandi in FL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, we are all on very different pre- and post-surgery diets. My surgery was Aug 24 (six days ago) and up until now I've been only on Clear Liquids, no protein: broth, Jello, popsicles, Water, ice. Today will be the first day that I introduce Protein back in. So, the next week will be full liquids only, but does include yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese, vegetable juice, soup, and Protein drinks. My tummy gurgles with new foods introduced. I'll need to take it slow. I'm feeling great, no pain, no gas, no nausea. -
February 2016 sleevers?
nicky2221 replied to NYGirlxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time because of hunger and tiredness the first two days. Wednesday and Thursday weren't as hard but I was still hungry. Today I had a harder time because there was a Superbowl Party right behind my desk, but I have fantastic friends that brought veggies and low fat dip and a strawberry salad. I had raw veggies with a little dip and a salad with some raspberry vinaigrette. Not too much sugar and I didn't veer far off the path too far. I had a shake an hour ago because I stay hungry! Do the best you can. It's a struggle but you can do it! it's hard isn't it,I'm on a liquid only diet so I'm allowed 8 yogurts a day with 1 pint of milk that's all :-( the yogurts are making me feel sick though so only managed to eat half of one today and yesterday! But I've lost 8 pounds so that's good I guess! Thank you for your support :-) we can get through this ???? 10 days left until surgery!! -
August Sleevers ?!
XYZXYZXYZ1955 replied to ladycharizar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's the basic list: Water Broth Jell-O Decaf tea Decaf coffee Sugar free Popsicles Sugar free drinks that are not carbonated (This list was taken from the obesitycoverage.com website), but it also reflects what I've read on many, many posts here. For the sugar-free drinks, try Crystal Light for flavoring. I think you can also have protein water during this phase . . . otherwise, only the broth has any protein, I think. At any rate, as soon as you move to the full liquid diet, it adds quite a bit--protein shakes, sugar-free pudding, cream soups, nonfat yogurt, and so on. -
Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers
Monte0828 replied to lylabelle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eating around 1000-1100 calories 70-90 grams protein. Have found if u don't get at least 1000 calories in its slower to lose at least for me. I do scrambled eggs with cheese in am, around mid morning Greek yogurt, lunch deli meat with cheese lettuce wrap or tuna. Protein bar or shake late afternoon and dinner chicken steak or other protein again. Very minimal carbs veggies and fruit. Eat protein first!! Remember chew chew chew! Have found if too carb rich it upsets my stomach. -
Counts as a liquid to me. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting them in. I asked that question before discharge so not a silly question. ???? I'm still in first week post op. Not allowed yogurt until next week. Good luck!

August 26 Sleevers

@@BarnGirlWK - Hey, join this group too - we were going to be just the 26'ers - but Im good with 23'ers and 24'ers too - basically same time line! @@taken_chances19 - hey Barngirl has surgery at Mi hospital on the 24th... so we will all three be there - you guys before me - so we will have to find each other - what is your real name? Me - Im doing ok with the liquid diet - my problem is 4-5:oopm - I have even tried moving my lunch to 1pm to see if that helps and it doesnt... so I end up having a yogurt snack at 430 just to keep me going till 6pm dinner. I have to be more careful with the shakes because Im very lactose intolerant - so Ive been using Pure Protein prepared drinks for breakfst or lunch and muscle milk with Water for the other meal. I have several sample packs of vegan shakes from the Vitamin Shoppe - but so far they are nasty. So Im saving them until after the surgery incase the nastiness is not so bad then! I just placed a $200 order with unjury for shakes, soup, and Vitamins for after the surgery. I plan to bring some of the individual chicken soup packs with me to Mexico because Ive heard that their chicken broth is not so good. I have had 3 personal friends go to Mi Hospital to have the sleeve surgery. So I have really listened to everything they have told me to bring and do. They all 3 sing the praises of that hospital and staff - so I feel comfortable with my decision. -
Hi Sassy. Welcome to LBT. I've seen a few people say their surgeons keep them on liquids for up to four weeks post-op. I was on mushies starting at two weeks, but I think I could have managed with full liquids if I was allowed to use some of the great Protein shake recipes I've seen on this site. Are you allowed to add bananas, Greek yogurt and various other fruits to your shakes (if you're even drinking them)? There are some recipes that sound pretty filling. Also, I would rely heavily on blended black bean Soup (if you're allowed the consistency that can pass through a straw). I also read a Salsa pumpkin Soup recipe that sounded like it could be whipped up to whatever consistency you're allowed to have by adding more broth. I believe it contained corn, which I would leave out at your stage of healing. There's a whole nutrition and recipe forum here on LBT that might give you some ideas. Good luck, and hang in there!!

Puréed stage diet question/help
Afrikanaaa replied to TodayItEnds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing purées right now too, Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes, Popsicles and lentil Soup have been my staples. I tried a 1/2 scrambled egg today. And couldn't even finish that. But can finish one of those light & fit 4 oz yogurts in 30ish minutes. It's weird. -
Any april 2014 sleevers? I need buddies!
Tammylb replied to jacquelynndiaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do the same as you . I eat meat meat and oh yea meat. I drink a premiere protein shake half at a time . Your body can't absorb all that protein at one time. I eat a egg a day and a 100 cal Greek yogurt . I love the p3 protein snacks and turkey jerky bites. I was eating seafood but my hair was thinning so I switched to cooking beef patties ( for iron) on George Forman with sautéed mushroom and onions peppers . I am a slow and steady 2 pounds per week looser . -
2 days postop... How did you feel?
JamieLogical replied to BrightEyes42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will feel normal again! I remember that was the question I asked myself most in those early days. I'm pretty sure I even posted it on here a few times. "Will I ever feel normal again!??!?!" But I eventually did and you will too! It's hard to believe right now, I know, but you really really will. As for the pureed stage, I never once ate any actual pureed food. I had my Protein shakes, yogurt, and recipes from this page: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html The Baked Ricotta saved me! -
This is exactly what I was looking for when I searched this post!! Thank you so much for the recipe! As a "newbie" I expected to see lots of healthy alternative recipes and encouragement in this thread. Instead I found some trolls enjoying "middle school humor" at the original poster's expense. SMH It's so nice to see that there are some helpful people on here. Thanks again! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm glad you like it! I love it. For the dressing you put a packet of ranch, mayo, and Greek yogurt in a food processor them add the tops of cilantro in it and blend. Add some lime juice too. You also can use a ranch packet, avocados, and lime with mayo and Greek yogurt for a avacado/ranch dressing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using the BariatricPal App This...........just stoked my dining table boner !!! You had me at avocado, lime and cilantro. I could.....and have.........lived off such. Just gotta add garlic, s&p, onion and tomatoes and it's a done deal.

You're usually on liquids for at least another week after surgery. Throw some yogurt (with no chunks of any fruit) in the mix as well. Lots of soup, clear juices and yogurt...

Unflavored protein powder - mix with what?
Alex Brecher replied to rs's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I mix unflavored protein powder into yogurt or soup quite often. I personally do not like Unjury and would suggest switching to another protein powder. We carry many options at https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/protein-powders/flavor_unflavored . -
Puree & Soft stage
deejay1383837872 replied to Tristaleann90's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your nutritiionist should have given you an entire packet of what to do along with meal plans and recipes for your Protein powder. I had cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, tomato Soup made with milk and I put unflavored Protein Powder in it. Also you can have fat free puddings thinned with a little milk, greek yogurts with no fruit pieces and if that is too thick, thin it with a little milk. I really liked the kids gogurt, went down real easy and was thinner than regular yogurt. Strain the soup of any mushrooms or pieces of chicken. MIlk, soy milk or Lactaid milk. Liquid Protein drinks too. Drink 6 to 8 cups of Fluid a day and try to get your protein up to 60 grams a day. I had my surgery October 24th and I am now on mushy foods. You will be lucky to get 300 calories in you a day. Remember drink s-l-o-w.....Warm foods may better than cold or visa versa. Does this help??? -

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Band_Groupie replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Heather, I forgot: I'm not a good example as I don't track things except when I need to get back on track. When I do track, I usually keep it 1000-1200 cals. I hardly get in any fruit now and that's something I need to work on (I love fruit). A typical day: B - 1/2 serv. reg. oatmeal w/1.5 T soy protein powder & 1T Benefiber added, topped with several squirts of SF maple syrup (I have this every morning) - About 3 cups of coffee before B L (about .75-1C total) - Almost always leftovers and I start w/about 3-4 oz. of protein (it's usually chicken or beef) - 1/2C of veggies or 1/4 C veggies and 1/4 C of another side (sometimes a starch like potatoes or rice) D (about 1- 1.25 C total, I'm allowed 1.5 C, but I almost never eat that much) - I eat whatever my family is having for dinner (DH is the chef) so pretty similar to what I had for lunch. -I do try to eat the protein first, I only take a small spoonful of the 'bad carbs' (he's 'Mr. Potato Head'), and I usually end my dinner with one SF Russell Stover's chocolate (I don't eat a lot of SF/diet foods at all, but I'm a chocoholic and I love these, so it gives me something to look forward to and I don't feel deprived of my beloved chocolate). -I do drink alcohol in moderation- usually only on the weekends (both wine and beer-which I pour so it gets a lot of bubbles out, and yes my doc allows this)...yes, it's probably slowed my WL some to drink calories, but it's a lifestyle for me, not another diet. -I have 'traded' some items out, but still feel like I eat 'normally', just a lot less...ie. we have tacos one night most weeks- always have; I used to eat 5 + spanish rice, now I have traded the hard shells for a soft low carb tortilla (I think they're wheat) and I spread Greek Yogurt (I've traded this for reg. yogurt and sour cream and love it) on it and add 1/2C meat and some of the reg. toppings. I usually have a hard time finishing a whole 1. I never feel deprived or hungry...hope something in there helps. Great WL this week...way to go!! Fingers crossed that fill works for you. -BG -
5 days out & I'm STARVING !
Cookiesgotthis replied to Suedeeanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember going thru that, I think it's just a change your body is going thru. Mine only lasted a few days. I'm eight weeks out and I rarely feel hungry. I make sure I have my two protein shakes every day. Besides that I eat a Greek yogurt and very small portions of food. -
Oh "Angela" - thank you for the laugh! I am so sorry to hear about your hospital experience, but hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here onwards. My biggest issues have been: pain in left shoulder (no consensus on cause or cure it seems), constipation (took milk of mag today, I pray for relief!), and not killing my BF for eating pizza in front of me (to be fair, he's been really good and only broke down on my day 8). Although I get full much faster than I ever did before, I'm tired of being full on broth and yogurt drinks! Will shop this weekend to get more variety which hopefully will help. Love the idea of yahoo group and will join, thanks for setting it up WVGal!

By the way I forgot to report on myself. I have done extremely well. I have very little soreness now (day 5) . I haven't had any gas pains. I had the same experience that CMT had. I laughed when she said she "wasted" the yogurt. That's me. Always cleaned my plate, always "got my money's worth" at a buffet. "All you can eat" is not supposed to be a challange! I have not had any doubts that I have done the right thing. I am down 23 from my highest (265) I was 255 when I started my pre-op diet and today I am down 13 (242). My husband tells me "Thats 13 lbs you'll never have to lose again" In some of my pre-op posts I told of my fear that I would be the one person in this world that this would not work for. But now that it's done I am determined that I will make this work for me.

How Soon After Surgery Did You Add Things Like Liquid Grits, And Watery Soft Foods?
2savemylife posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi there, at what point did you add watered down/ lose things like grits, or mashed potatoes. pudding , regular yogurt etc? did you do it when you started to get hungry again a couple weeks after surgery or later? what were the first foods you added? any other food Ideas? -
I just found out that Yoplait Light (which was my fave) has high fructose corn syrup in it. Yes. True. I switched to greek yogurt. Fage 2%. I add sugar free strawberry preserves instead of buying the ones with fruit in them. It definitely keeps you fuller than Yoplait and double the Protein.

I usually have 1 yogurt a day as a my snack. The goal is to keep me from starving in between meals. I don't know what it is, but whenever I eat yogurt, I am STARVING about an hour after I eat it. I wasn't this hungry before I had it. The sad thing is, I can't eat for another hour. This is the only time that I can't wait to eat, is after I have yogurt. I don't get hungry like this any other time of the day. And it doesn't matter when I eat it. I guess it just passes right through me or something.

What do we need!?
getting_to_know_me replied to Becoming_Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After you have your surgery you will have a lot of gas pain the gas x strips will help a lot with that. Mira lax is going to be your friend that is going to get things moving once you are able to start eating food it is a horrible feeling to be constipated after surgery. Bottled water and flavor packets to put in them if you don't like plain water, sugar free pudding cups, SF popsicles, cream soups, yogurt, protein shakes ( i like premier ), any medicines you need filled get them filled ahead of time so you won't have to stand in line or wait on them after surgery, vitamins, i got sugar free hard candy to suck on after surgery because my mouth stayed dry Sent from my VS986 using BariatricPal mobile app
