I need to lose 100 more and will be having my revision this summer from sleeve to bypass. Had my sleeve 12/2013. I'm also worried about slower weight loss. Who knew starting at 250 lbs and BMI 41 would be considered starting at a lower weight?!

Today, for the first time in 24 years, I weigh < 200 lbs! I am a band to bypass revision patient. Surgery was 3/23/15 and including the 15 I lost right before surgery, I'm down 60 lbs. It was quite emotional for me, but very uplifting too. I'm off my b/p meds and working out 5-6 days a week. I feel GREAT and this bypass is the best the decision ever! thanks for listening to me Celebrate

Things I Won't/don't Miss About The Band...
BeanieandRosie'smom replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, this is exactly what I've experienced with my band, but never heard from other bandsters! My doc made me feel like it was my fault as I held back tears in his office trying to explain how I hated my band. How I couldn't eat anything. I am scared for a revision because I know it will be permanent. I realize this topic is from a few weeks ago, but anyone willing to help meby giving me their experiences with the sleeve---I'd be so appreciative!!! Thank you!!! -
So totally happy for you! Still waiting for my appeal to be overturned so I can have the revision from band to bypass. I'm so discouraged! Hate the waiting! Had to hire Walter Lindstrom to handle my appeal with UHC. Don't know how much longer I can go on!!!

I had the revision on 3/27, and I struggle daily with keeping my calories down only to 1000 cal per day. It is still really hard for me because I am hungry and 1000 cal is absolutely not a lot of food. Kudos to those of you who find it difficult to Consume enough calories. Envious!

I had to go to classes, appointments for a year to meet the bariatric protocol for my insurance. Stuff happened like my paperwork didnt get sent out by the doctor by my primary and the whole process took a long time. Starting to feel better now on my fifth day out. @ Sherrypep ouch! revision sounds scary I am hoping no more hospitals and surgeries for me. Be praying for you for a fast recovery.

I'm now, unbelievably, 11 weeks post op! where did the time go? I'm a slow learner and a very slow loser! ha ha But, I can confidently say that solid foods make such a difference! I was experiencing everything you have all said during the earlier days of post op. Now, as long as I have the right combination on my dinky little weeny plate, then by the time I've eaten the protein bit I'm really too full to eat much more. So, I am having some of the veg/salad on the plate as well just so that I don't get completely bored with plain protein. Still learning, and still very much in the 'OMG, I'm going to fail at this and do it all wrong'... I'm freaking out every damn time I eat something that isn't 'good'! I've become obsessed and guilt ridden because of my slow loss. But, I keep having to remind myself that the scale is going down, I did have a band before revision to sleeve and I am freaking old! ha ha It's a marathon not a sprint for me ... x

Revision RNY to RNY 08/15/16 making pouch 1.5 oz. Can I still lose weight?
charmaine75 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to this site. I’m having a Revision from RNY to RNY 08/15/16 making my current pouch of 8 oz (1 cup) to a 1.5 oz pouch. Due to enlarged stoma of 3.5 centimeters big. My surgeon told me that I may not lose as much weight as before. Because must people who had revision lose little to no weight, but the issues will be fix. I don’t understand how I will not loss weight with a new smaller pouch. As long, as I eat healthy, watch portion size, exercise, stay motivated and have a great support system. Which I do. Can someone offer their opinion or been through this situation their self? My pouch been 8 ounces for the last 9 years. 3 years ago I start gaining weight and I would look at what I was doing and notice I ate more and the weight came on. And all this is because of the enlarge stoma, malabsorption and weight gain. -

Sleeve to bypass hopefully
Tomo replied to lavette43's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
This this this. It has been over a year since my revision and my quality of life has improved so much. I sometimes wonder how many years I have stripped off my life expectancy from the pain and lack of sleep I experienced for years because I tried to rely on PPIs, H2 blockers and more instead of just getting a revision right away. -
Just my 2 cents, but personally, I would pick the bypass over the sleeve. I had the band, that worked a bit then issues, revised to the bypass because of the band scaring. But the sleeve is also just a restrictive procedure and doesn't have the same nutritional reduction that the bypass has, so, you can totally eat around the sleeve, just like the band. You can work against the bypass, but you can't "eat around it" (eating sliders and all the bad for you foods that just pass through the reduced stomach size). Again, my opinion on the subject, there have been plenty of people that have the sleeve and love it. There are a decent number that had it and need to be revised to the bypass now. Either way though, if you work with your WLS tool, you'll hopefully get the outcome you are looking for. I wish I never had the band, wish I went with the bypass back in 2011.

Hi Everyone - There are 15 days until my lap band surgery, & I am excited and a little nervous too. I really appreciate everyone's posts and the great tips/information. It seems like I have been reading about a considerable amount of complications/ revisions lately. My general question is how long have you had your lapband, and what complications have you experienced? Any one out there 10 years or more?

urination problems?

I was also in the city this past Saturday, doing only a bit of walking. I drank a good 24 oz. of Water before I left my home (on Long Island), took a train to the city, walked 10 blocks to the theater, sat through the entire play, including intermission, walked back to Penn Station and took the train home -- and only then finally went to the bathroom. Actually, no -- right after I walked in, I took the dog out first, changed the cat's litter...and then went. I'm the type of person who can't make it through the night without a trip (or two) to the bathroom, so yes, definitely, water loss through perspiration can really throw one for a loop! By the way, lexy, you really should consider revising your name to SexyLexy -- you are GORGEOUS! -
I bought a Ninja from QVC just to puree my foods. Two days ago I tried the banana ice cream! YES! Freeze some cut up banana ( half is enough!) Drop it in with a four blade and a splash of milk ( 2 T ) pulse then run it a bit. It is absolutely the texture of soft serve. It was a devine treat. - I had to share with my son and husband, a whole banana; it was way too much for me to eat. Now to be a good RNY revision girl, ill try my chocolate protien shake instead of the milk, should give me my Protein, a new flavor and yet, the creamy treat! I suppose yogurt would do the trick also. It is worth the Ninja to have the ability to have " banana cream"

I am so sorry you are going through this. It does seem terribly unfair. I would speak to your doctor, but I still think that you will still succeed. I was lucky not to be a revision but I had a month stall like this so understand a bit what you are going through, minus the family pressure. Just try try try to stay positive and keep staying the course. We will support you as much as possible but the strength comes from you and I believe you have this, otherwise you never could have undertaken another surgery to fix your health. You deserve to be healthy and I know it will work out. I wish I had the answers but since each of us is different and has different issues I would not even try, except for the general accepted guidelines, which I am sure still stand for you as a revision.

Revision?
prettyMe2716 replied to prettyMe2716's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I journal everything except fulids cause Dr just want a to see food. I reach my goals I guess for fulid and protien. I don't have a NUT I just have the NP at my weight loss center. I keep every appt and I tell them everything. I take my meds/vitamins. I was discouraged and I gave up. But I also knew what I put in my mouth was wrong and I worked out harder to work those things off. And I know if I had a revision I would have to follow the rules cause I'd get dumping syndrome and get sick. Its just a thought. I haven't had a sweet in 2 days and before my scale broke I was still gaining. I exercise 5x a week. I hate it but I do it. 30-40 minutes. I journal my exercise as well. I don't know if its a stall or I just put on a lil weight for a lil while. Its been on for a week. I don't k ow how to get it off. And people may thing 48lbs is good but I do t think so. I have a friend d who had surgery the same day as me she does the same as me and she is down over 100lbs since pre op. That's what I expected but I got a dumb 48 pounds. I'm just not happy with that. -
I had gastric sleeve August 18th 2015. Currently I have already gained weight back and I wanted to know if a revision this early as possible.? I'm very upset with the weight gain I lost very slowly since August 18th. I had only lost about 48 pounds and then I started to gain. I'm considering making an emergency appointment with my nurse practitioner of my Weight Loss Center to discuss other options or to ask what could be wrong I know I'm doing everything right I'm eating great portions and great meals I have snuck a few sweet drinks in every now and then and honey bumn, yes don't reply with any bad messages please cuz I know I've done wrong but every time I had one of those sweets... I worked my ass off to get the calories worked off. I have accomplished over a mile of walking, I do Weight and I do spinning but no more weight is coming off its just gaining what do i do, what do you think?.
-
7lbs gained. How much of that might just be water due to weather or sodium intake or time of the month. Too soon to give up. Lots of other people here have hit stalls and been so upset. Plenty to read here that will help you through this. Revision is no guarantee of dumping syndrome, some people don't get that. As said before you can't compare your loss to another person's we are all different. My friend and I had it done the same day and both our losses are different but we eat together a lot and the rest of the time eat pretty much the same. Hang in there you can get back on track and keep losing.

Im having revision December 1st due to small intestine damaged during original surgery (2013) , its a must, but gaining a fee pounds isnt reason for revision kust start back from beginning with liquids if needed.

Weight Loss and what to expect
JamieLogical replied to Caela88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's really hard to tell for sure, especially since you are a revision and that may effect the size and shape of your sleeve. I have read that a lot of revisions from lap-band have scar tissue in their stomachs that their surgeons have to work around. The good news is, a LOT of the outcome of your surgery is in your control! If you stick to the plan, get your water, get your protein, get your vitamins, and exercise regularly, then you'll lose the weight. The sleeve is just a tool, remember. It's up to you how you use that tool to achieve success.
