Hi Nina I had a revision or reconstruction for the same reason as dream believe. I went to Mexicali MX to a hospital. Mexicali Bariatrics did the reconstruction. It's been a slow process and I am 11 weeks. I feel very satisfied with limited food. I am exercising a lot more this time. I have more energy. I had to have a barium swallow and I had xray from the first sleeve. He told me it was not my fault for the weight regain. The did a barium swallow after revision checking for leaks and to show me the difference in the restriction. I lost 60lbs really fast the first time. I gained 25lbs over 6 years. I have lost 26lbs so far. The first time I lost a lb a day the first month. If your not happy get the second opinion.

2 Weeks Post Op... Some issues?

I had my sleeve done 7/20 and I so feel like something it stuck in my throat! It happened when I eat and I take a sip of water which makes it worse so then I end up throwing everything up! This happens yesterday and today so it makes me scared to even eat!!! I had a hernia repaired in my esophagus during sleeve surgery so that may be the cause. And I also haven’t used the bath room in over a week!! I’m going to take some stool softeners and pray for the best! -
I had my first scrambled egg this morning, 16 days post-op. No problems.... Just don't tell my dietician. A scrambled egg is in week 5 of my very conservative plan.

4 days post op and you want to move onto soft foods? most at least wait 2 weeks minimum for solids. I did liquids only for 2 weeks post op and after that i was cleared to try some soft foods like scrambled eggs. Which i had and had no issues. Tho i could only eat maybe half an egg. I ended up just buying quail eggs since they are much smaller.

Thank you for this post! It was nice reading how long others took off work. I work from home and I am only taking 3 full days off and then half days the rest of the week. I may just set up my computer right next to my bed so its easier LOL -

Hey Y'all! Brand new to Bariatric Pal, and three days post op! I am already down 30.3 pounds since starting the pre op diet, which is super encouraging! Yesterday was probably the hardest pain wise after waking up in terrible pain, on top of acid reflux from hell! Thankfully, got on some antacids prescribed by doctor, and the pain meds helped with the pain immensely! Most of my pain isn't actually from my stomach, but from my biggest incision by my liver. Also trying to stay hydrated, which has been so much harder than I ever thought! So, I actually got the VSG for two completely different reasons. The first is the obvious, to lose weight and get back to a healthier lifestyle! The second... three weeks ago, I was told that I have precancerous and cancerous cells in my stomach. After talking through all of my options with my gastro doctor, my best move was to get the VSG as the cancer cells would be completely eradicated as they were in the portion of my stomach getting removed. Honestly, I had already been researching VSG anyways, so this was kinda a no brainer for me, two for one! This did move up my surgery date from mid September to this past Wednesday, and I am honestly completely okay with that! I didn't want to go through any sort of chemo or radiation, so time was a bit of the essence. Anyone else get/is going to get the VSG for medical reasons beyond weightloss/morbid obesity? HW: 293 SW(before pre op diet): 289.4 CW: 259.1 -

It's Saturday!!! My fiance and I are out doing yard work and I made the mistake of not staying hydrated before going out so now my body is shaking and weak. I have my pre-op appointment Tuesday, the 2nd and I am trying my hardest to lose another 2 lbs by then.

100 is not normal for the PNW. Used to be once every few years we’d hit that high maybe one day out of a summer. We’ve had 3 100+ days this year, and more predicted this week. Climate change 😡 The date was great, he’s very much Mr. Romantic :)

Amanda, I had one week off, but worked some. I am mostly working from home as well. I requested one week off, but with my office in the spare bedroom and work piling up, I just couldn't stay away. That was my choice. My surgery was on a Thursday and by Monday I was working 4 to 5 hour days. I went back to full time work on Thursday, 1-week post-op. On those half days I probably could have worked full 8-hour days if needed. But wanted to relax a little and use some of the leave I was approved to use.

I took three weeks off but could have gone back after two. I felt fine, just tired. Re: FMLA - it was several years ago so I don't remember exactly, but I don't think I bothered with FMLA. I had a lot of sick leave built up, so I just used that.

some surgeons have you crush pills, but fortunately, mine was OK with me swallowing small pills right away (anything the size of a pencil eraser or smaller). I had to wait two or three weeks to manage bigger pills. One of them they said I could hold off on for a couple of weeks, so I did. The other I cut in half (I bought a pill cutter at a pharmacy), so I was able to take it (although not all pills can be cut in half - well, *physically* they can be, but you're not supposed to do it). Just check with your clinic and see what they suggest

Hi Mel, I have read your post a couple of times and although I don't have experience to share, because I'm still in my initial weight loss phase, I wanted to thank you for telling us how you are - It's really helpful to read about how people do in the long term. You're right - 15lbs doesn't sound a lot at all because I presume you lost a stack of weight in 2016, but I totally get that you're not happy with that - I don't think I would be. The best thing is that not only have you called it at this point, you've come here where you will get loads of support and people with the same experience to help you! AND you've identified that it's your life stresses that are triggering it, so that's the first step to getting it sorted. I've seen people here who regained and who did various things to try to lose again. Would it be possible to get some help with your life issues first because then the eating might be easier to tackle, rather than being another issue to beat yourself up about? Then could you go right back to your post-op diet for a while? Empty the house of all those 'punishment' foods and fill it up with protein-based snacks. I absolutely love deli meats - chicken or turkey or pastrami slices that are easy to grab when you're grazing, tins of tuna you can make into a salad really quickly and that will fill you up nice and quickly. High protein yoghurt, etc. Start drinking more water if that has slipped. Finally it sounds like you really need to find another gym - could you do that? Or as the others say, a home exercise regime? That has a double benefit in that it should lift your mood a bit too. Do you have family or friends who you can talk to and who can support you? I don't mean nag, only you can decide it's time to switch things around again, but just to be there for you as you do it? I know when you aren't feeling good it can seem impossible to change things, and it's easy for some random stranger on the internet to try to fix things 'for you'. It's not like that here though - people will all identify with your current position, lots have been there and lots of us will be in the future. It would be brilliant if you could let us know how you do. Maybe do just one thing differently this week and see how that goes. All the very very best. 15lbs will be hard but it's totally doable isn't it? Your sleeve is still there and it will help you. So will we. xx

Or is it just a stall? You can many of those while you are losing. A stall is just your body taking a break to readjust to all the changes: diet, weight loss, activity. Glad you’ve reached out to your team. They’ll be best placed to advise if you do need a tweak to your eating plan especially if you are following a more intensive exercise program. And they will be able to advise what specific foods (not just a blanket ‘add carbs’) are best to add to your diet. Congratulations are your progress so far. -
3 weeks is about my max for such a calorie restriction before I go mad and either bang my head against the wall or order everything off the taco bell menu . Even though I'm not officially on my pre-op diet until the 9th of August I've certainly been eating better the last week or so having the carrot of surgery dangling in front of me. I had surgery on a Thursday, took the next week off, and went back to work the Monday after that (so I went back 11 days after my surgery). I could have gone back to work 5 days after my surgery (I have a desk job). I took vacation time because I didn't tell anyone I was having surgery.

Welcome Steve!! I am also a Northern Cali resident. Don't be too scared of the pre-op diet. First few days are rough, not gonna lie, but it does get easier. I ended up doing it twice because my surgery was cancelled the day before it was scheduled (wah wah) Not knowing what your pre-op diet consists of, it's hard to give detailed advice. Mine was three protein shakes, 4oz of chicken and some veggies. I actually started looking forward to the shakes! It was worth it though because my surgeon said my liver looked good and made the surgery easier. Good luck!! You'll do great!

I have. I'm down 8 lbs since starting it. First 6 days I was losing about .5-1 lb and then I started to stall out. I gained about 1 lb back in water weight within 3 days then started to see the scale drop again the other day. The scale going up was frustrating considering how few calories we are taking in but I knew what was causing It so didn't let it get to me too much. I know the point of it isn't to lose weight but it is a way of showing our liver is shrinking so I was stepping on the scale daily. I also have a scale that checks other things so it's nice to see those numbers move as well. Day of surgery I will step on the scale one last time for a while. Thanks for all the positive vibes. : )

I had surgery on Tuesday and was back to work (at home desk job) the following Monday. Pain wise, it was fine but I was exhausted. I had to take frequent rest breaks and took a nap every single day for the first 2 weeks back. Thankfully, my job allows a good bit of flexibility, but if I had to keep a more rigid schedule, more time off would have been necessary. -
Kudos to you for sticking with your pre-op diet! I understand how difficult it is to stay strong and I feel the same way you do about wanting to eat something different. I’m so sick of protein shakes and yogurt I could cry! And I have one week to go. We can do this!!!😁

I play so, so much Beat Saber, probably 5+ hours a week. To mix things up and increase intensity, I step in time to the the music. It takes a little finagling to set up on your machine, but there's a huge community of people who create mods and custom songs for the game. There's a style of song mapping called "fitbeat" that includes a lot more squats, dodging, and reaching to increase your effect, but I usually just play the sorts of music I listened to in high school and college. I use exercise as mood regulation as well as physical health, so sometimes I like to pick music that fits my mood. (I have a lot of very loud metal songs for when I'm angry, lol.) But usually I make a "playlist" by searching my library of 300+ songs with whatever the first 2 letters of that days' wordle answer was. If you're a numbers-focused person, on the Oculus there's a movement/calorie tracking app that I find very motivating. It's probably not super accurate because it only accounts for arm movement, but ... I like numbers.

I run and do my spin classes in the middle of the day, before lunch. So I go home from work, (live super close), get changed and run for 20 minutes then do a spin class for 20 minutes. I have a latte and coffee prior to my workout, have my protein shake and cheese afterwards. For me I am always hungry in the evenings, the morning and afternoon are kind of a non event for me. I usually take one rest day from exercise a week, I don’t normally Notice a change in hunger levels that day. -

I apologize for this because I know it’s been talked about a million times. BUT seriously I am at my wits end. I am 9 weeks out from RNY and just stuck. I lost 25 prior to surgery, 27.9 since surgery now under 200 @ 197.6. The scale won’t move. I am not breaking the rules, I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day, drinking 80 or more oz of Water per day. Carbs hanging in between 30-70. I’m killing it at the gym. I CrossFit 3-4 times a week and walk several miles on my off days. I reached out to my team and she planned for a call next week. She did mention maybe I wasn’t getting enough carbs, maybe needing like 100-150 on CrossFit days! Any experience with this? Seems like a lot and I’ve always been sensitive to carbs so I’m hesitant to try. However if I need that to get back to burning I’ll do it. Calories are never over 800-900 a day. Usually hang in the 700 range. Any advice from a CrossFitter or anyone who has been through this is much appreciated
