Hello I am new
New&Improved replied to Honey_bear 2017's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you starting early.. I did the same woke up one day and decided to start a new diet 2 months before surgery and it definitely helped me. The bypass has been great 7 months later and no issues at all and have lost heaps and feeling great. -
Revisions lose slower. This doesn't have to do anything with bypass. Hang in there. Find a sustainable way of eating and living and stick with it once you found it. Don't make a difference between "losing mode" and "maintenance mode". Let things level off instead of overhauling your diet again. Every diet change and change in your exercise routine is stressful, needs time and vigilance to get used to and carries the risk of not being able to stick with it or (when it comes to maintenance) that you might start gaining again.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and wanted to garner some opinions on having a gastric bypass in Poland or other eastern european countries. I'm 26 years old and have been a yo-yo dieter since I was a teenager, I'm currently 120kg (12 months ago, I was 85kg). I'm sick of the constant cycling and feel the bypass will be one of the tools I can use to maintain a steady weight. From everything I have read about the procedure, I've found myself favoring the bypass over the sleeve. So if you have experience of having a sleeve/ bypass op in Europe please get in touch, I'd be keen to have your input. Jordan.

yes but that was your first surgery. I am having to have a 2nd surgery. I wanted the bypass done when I had the sleeve done but my surgeon talked me out of it. -

Yes much higher malabsorption issues with DS. Not many surgeon in Australia even do the DS. My surgeon is one of the top in Australia and he said bypass is more than enough he doesn't do DS. and to prove it I've lost over 150lbs in just 8 months. -

Yeah I know I'm just a little scared I guess to do bypass but then I think about it and the long term effects of GERD. I just want it to go away and lose 100 pounds. -

I'm not sure a DS is going to help you since they have a sleeve stomach and a bypassed small intestine. Unless he's got some new way of doing it? Usually for GERD, they revise to gastric bypass, since that often cures GERD. -
Has anyone been to see this surgeon? I am looking at having a revision from sleeve to DS. I have Gerd thats really bad and I am at the point of where I throw up when it gets so bad.

Pregnancy before or after a revision
Msumalik replied to gomezk2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Everyone is right only your doctor can tell you what is best for your health. I would personally have the baby first as it would be better to have revision after and out on weight again and so on.( but that's my preference knowing my situation -
Revision sleeve to bypass
catwoman7 replied to salasmarlene02@gmail.com's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
it depends on your insurance. Most won't cover a revision unless, like Superman said, it's medically necessary (and some won't even then...) -

GERD causing revision
dorkyfaerie replied to gerdzilla's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm in the same boat, sort of. I was sleeved 2 years ago and immediately had severe GERD with the worst symptoms when my stomach was empty, so my weight loss was slow and I've regained the little I lost. I was supposed to be having revision to bypass in April, but that was postponed due to the pandemic. At this point, I'm just waiting until they can start scheduling surgeries again, hopefully by the end of June. My surgeon said my weight loss should be closer to 50-60 lbs, which I think I'd be happy with. I have regretted going for the sleeve since day one and am hoping that bypass alleviates some of GERD symptoms. -

I am unsure if my insurance horizon health nj will cover it a second time and what are the new requirements to have the surgery done again. Any help would be appreciated [emoji120] Sent from my SM-G981U using BariatricPal mobile app -
GERD causing revision
S@ssen@ch replied to gerdzilla's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@gerdzilla I haven't been revised sleeve to bypass, but I have the experience of revision lap band to sleeve. I maintained my weight for about 5 years after I had my lap band out due to complications. Then life threw me some curveballs and I returned to some bad behaviors. I gained ALL of my weight back. It took me another 2 years to decide that I needed help and got the sleeve. My weight loss was much slower the 2nd time around, but I have lost as much as I did with the band and am about where I did when I stopped with the band. Could I lose more? Sure, but I'm actually very happy where I am right now and don't stress it too much. My sleeve will still be there when I'm ready to focus on it again. Regarding hair loss, this is not specific to a type of surgery. It is the body's response to a stressful event or change. GERD causing revision
catwoman7 replied to gerdzilla's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I haven't had a revision, but I've read that people normally don't experience as much weight loss as they do with a "virgin" surgery, but that probably depends on how much weight you have to lose. If you're only 30 or 40 lbs overweight currently, it's likely to be much slower going than if you still had 100 lbs to lose, I would guess... surgeons usually give you averages (and I'm referring to all patients getting WLS - not just revisions). As with any average, there are people who lose more...or less...than that. I think they just don't want to set people up for disappointment. I'm betting you can lose more than that if you set your mind to it. -
Hello All 😊 I was sleeved 10 years ago. I will admit I did not get to my goal weight and have regained. Now due to GERD my surgeon is recommending a revision to bypass. As far as weight loss my surgeon states I should expect to possibly lose 20-30 pounds. Has anyone had a revision to bypass after a long period of time(7+ years) and lost more than 30 pounds. I feel like I should lose more than that. I also have concerns of hair loss. I didn’t really experience hair loss with my sleeve. Has anyone found a way to combat this issue? Thanks so much !😁

What’s a good food/calorie tracker that you use or have tried? I’m going from sleeve to bypass in a month.

Questions about Gastric Bypass Surgery
ms.sss replied to HeatherWillLose34's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'd like to add that I don't drink liquids while I eat not because it flushes through, but because it makes me barf. I feel like the liquids just sit on top of the food and has no where to go but up (especially if my stomach is full). Yuck. I will drink right up to starting a meal, but not during, and not for at least 30-45 minutes after my last bite. Edited to add: oopsies, you were asking about bypass... I had the sleeve. Sorry!
