Last Weekend Before Liquid Diet starts on Tuesday
PittGuy replied to PittGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mitzie, Do you know your post op diet? My doc has me on 8 days of clear liquids with no calories except for 1/8th a cup of fruit juice three times a day mixed with 1/8 a cup of water. -
Hi everyone.. my name is Laura.. and tomorrow marks the second week since I had my surgery. I am loving it so far, and have lost 10 pounds. I am a married mama of 3 beautiful girls, I work full time. I had to go thru 6 months of medically supervised weight loss and my husband's insurance has covered most of the procedure. I want to do the right thing and lose 80 more pounds. I am going to begin walking tonight. I am so pumped about this and am ready for this weight loss journey!

So you are now at week 17! Congrats!!! Can you tell us how things have gone for you so far? By all means dont be shy with the details! lol
-
Congrats to all of you! Follow your post op diet the best u can because now your body needs to heal. Rest, walk in small amounts as often as u can, sip, sip, sip as much as u can all day. You may feel bloated for a couple weeks and a little more sore if u had hernia repair. Don't worry about losing weight now. You are healing, but it will come off!

Getting To 199.....
TheNewMimi replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone send the stall buster fairy to my house when they are done with yours!!! -
Hi my name is Marcie12, I had my surgery 4 weeks ago. I have lost 29 pounds and most of that in the first week. I feel very overwhelmed on remembering when to eat, when to drink, protein shakes, vitamins. It is a whole new world and I somtines feel like a fish out of water. I also seem to be allot quiter than before the surgery, more sensative, and very much aware of myself. I was wondering if anyone else felt that way. I have been walking on my eliptical for the past week and worked myway up to 25min. I have trouble walking because of a bad hip that needs replacing in a few months. That is one of the reasons I had the surgery to loss as much weight as I could before the hip operation. I am new at this so that is all I have to say for now.

Getting To 199.....
doxieville replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey....speak for yourself!!! I am as sane as they come!!!! Aren't I? Umm...I thought I was..... Actually, I don't think I have really stalled yet. I've had a week here and there where I don't lose, but I consider that normal, not stalling or as you say, adjusting (which really is a nicer word.) I am a slow loser, but I'm ok with that. I've pretty much lost 1-1.5 pounds a week and in my opinion, that's the healthiest way for my body to lose. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!! Gobble gobble. :-) -

Lap band 03-02-09
YngGram replied to boknowsbo2@bellsouth.net's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got my band on 3-9, I am on full liquids--Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink (no surgar added), High Protein Slim Fast. I use the powder with skim milk. My doc says no 1% or 2% as it has to much fat. No sugar popciles, crystal light, tea and water. I can have apple or grape juice that is cut with water. I plan to have some egg drop soup next week as I head into the mushies just because I miss something that has a good taste. I can add yogurt and cottage cheese next. -
Bad breath anyone.

Hi guys - Did anyone else ever just get an old fashioned stomachache out of the blue after surgery? I will be 3 weeks out on Friday and have only had yogurt and pureed cottage cheese so far along with my broths and jell-o, etc. So I don't think it can be something I ate, as those things have gone down fine. It's a weird, achey, ugly sensation in my belly and it's making me so nervous. I don't want to eat anything, it just feels gross. I've been sipping Water and took a chewable Tylenol, which has been taking care of any discomfort, but not this. I hate this, has anyone else had it?? I've been feeling so normal until now!

Thanks for all your posts it is really helpful to find out the this is normal and that if will thicken up again. It was just scary the past two weeks to was my hair and find so much of it in the shower. I have thick hair anyways so I am probably the only one that will notice it. I have never had hairloss on a diet before so this was a new experience. I was really wondering if I was doing anything wrong. Glad to find out that I'm not that it is just part of the process. Thank's everyone for all your great info and support!!!!

I know this sounds silly, but I'm going to my informational seminar tomorrow. I went to one last May, but it's been over 6 months so I have to go again... Anyway, for the last week I've been wanting to just eat and eat and eat. I'm not usually an eater like that. Do you think I'm doing this b/c I know once I go tomorrow, I'm going to start the process to lose the weight and won't be able to just eat and eat and eat again? Sound crazy?

Week 3 Post Op- Difficult for me
melody2 replied to ramos252006's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, it all just sucks right now. The third week is one of the hardest. Ok, so it sucks. You have two choices--do nothing, do something. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get determined. You got this. You can do it. Remember, you still have all of those hormones running around....bound to make you feel discouraged. -
Stomach feels "backed up"
daniotra replied to LadyDarkness415's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You're definitely still swollen. It takes some weeks to start really going down. I was sleeved, and it took very little to fill me up (felt like a rock in my tummy, not sure if that's the same feeling you have. With RNY, you do have the risk of strictures. Let your doc know about your issues so he/she can decide if they want to do any tests. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Any UK sleevers having surgery soon?
_Kate_ replied to sam42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Sam, There are a few UK sleevers here, you could try posting in the UK room too. I was sleeved 12 weeks ago. Congratulations on the surgery date! What made you decide on going to Belgium? -
I am six weeks post op and have been living on this stuff. Sugar free, 15 grams of protein, and you mix it with water so you get your water in. Tastes exactly like real hot chocolate and comes in a bunch of different flavors like marshmellow, chocolate raspberry, and cinnamon which are my favs.

Lapband Changing My Life
running_scared replied to darbydoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Umm, I think there must be some larger issues within your relationship. I wouldn't spend 6 months living apart from my husband (and I work away from home 2-4 weeks at a time). Is there another, deeper reason why you don't want to move with him? -
Share you Pre-Op & Post-Op Lessons Learned?
bodybutter64 replied to bas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only packed what I had on and my Ipod so I could have music (I had a roommate from hell so this was a good thing) when I went home I went home in what I wore to the hosptial- I didn't use pain meds after my surgery no need- surgery on Monday, home tuesday, hung out on Wednesday, and back to work on Thursday- This was truly easier than I ever thought it was going to be. I was one month post op on June 19th and currently can eat anything I want, I did liquids for 5 days post op, than a week of mushies and than real food.. I am lookiing forward to my first fill in july. Best of luck to you- -
