    Scale Finally Moved........

I'll be 3 months on the 17th. It seems that one week out of the month I lose nothing. And then will lose like crazy about a lb a day. I think thats when my body is retaining Water before my period. But I have tracked my weight on fitday.com and sure enough once a month it will stay the same for about 7-10 days. Congrats on your weight loss!
  2. I'm so sorry this is going to sound gross but I had surgery Thursday 10/24 today is Monday and I have watery diarrhea every since saturday night. I have no fever but sometimes fell flushed. I can walk around and I can drink Water and Protein shakes (started those today) without problem. The only concern was the watery bm. Anyone else go through this if so how long did it last

    Hi

Im 10 weeks post op. Started at 256, SW 244 and I am 216 today. Lol. I have been on a stall and flunctuatung by 2 pounds for weeks. Slow loser as well. I feel like I am doing something wrong but everyone seems to say I am fine so I am trying to just be ok with it and stick with my plan.
  4. My original goal was to be an October sleever and I'm barely making it. Scheduled for 10/30. The husband has his this Wednesday (9/16) so I get to go through all of this twice. I'm getting more and more nervous as it's all getting closer and more real! Looking forward to being thinner though!

    Need a quick answer.

Well I noticed one major thing, my feet shrank down to a size 9! I've been a size 10 shoe for 11yrs, I was a woman's 9 since I was 10yrs old. I was able to grab a new pair of shoes in my new/old size today. For me this is huge. I haven't needed my lasix since the last week of January. Here's hoping my congestive heart failure is in remission.

    How bad is post-op pain?

My surgery was Lapband on 8/31/10. First know that everyone is different on how they feel. For me, the first few hours after surgery were very painful. I HAD TO HAVE DRUGS! By the evening, I still had pain, but it was tolerable. The next day, I felt 70% better. I drove to the store just fine. Within a week I felt pretty good. You cannot lift more than ten pounds!!! You do need to rest and heal.
  8. It's Time. Did you "indulge" because you were sort of burnt out and needed a break from the program? The reason why I ask is because we had surgery about the same time and I was finding myself getting sort of burnt out. Plus I felt it would be way too much to expect my dear hubby to not only have to care of me for 10 days but also to weigh/measure my food. I am just so grateful that he was more than willing to do everything on top of taking excellent care of me. I guess I justed needed a break and now I'm ready to get back on the program. I'm sure we will both succeed.
  9. I started walking her two weeks after surgery. Funny enough she was recovering from TPLO surgery at the same time so we were walking about the same pace lol. We walked every day two to three times a day for 10 minutes each. Once I got cleared for harder exercise I still walk her but I don't count it as my calorie burn. Worst part is she now needs TPLO on the other knee I three months out currently.
  10. If all else fails... Hit the salon for a weave. Add volume AND length! ~Leticia **HW: 259**PreOp: 216**SURG: 3/21/13 **Discharged @: 221**8 days post op: Down 19 lbs**
  11. I was banded 11/15/10 and I am finally feeling "almost" normal. You will get there. I was also surprised at how horrible I felt. I actually thought I would be able to go shopping by the end of the first week. NOT! It was much worse than I thought, but thankfully, each day gets a little better. I hate to exercise, but my surgeon said to take a minimum of 10 minute walks 4 times per day. It sucked to get out and do that while holding my side, but it actually made me feel better each time. It helped with gas and soreness in my back from sitting too long. I sipped broth, Protein shakes, and liquid Jello. Fat Free cream of chicken Soup (strained) seemed yummy after all those thin liquids. As for soft/mushy which is what I am on now, I live off canned tuna and chicken. I put the tuna in the food chopper with pickle juice and f.f. mayo. Chicken add some fat free gravy and blend with food chopper. They are both easy for me to get down and a good source of protein. Hang in there! It will get much better and it will be worth it!! There's so much proof of that on here.
  12. My cardiologist looked at me and said, "You did not pass the test". Honestly, I thought he was kidding and then it hit me they don't joke about things like that! Now, I had been at my PCP on Monday. These results had been faxed to him last week and he never mentioned it. He spent maybe 10 minutes with me, most of which was composing the letter of clearance on his laptop. WTF are these guys good for anyway????? So, now I will be scheduled for an angiogram early next week. There is a 10% chance he will find nothing. It may be taken care of with a stent. If things are really bad, there will be open heart surgery. So, no WLS for me for the time being. Wonder how long my insurance authorization is for. Major, major bummer.....

    Feel like a failure already...

Hi Fellow Bandsters, Finding this threat today has been a life-saver. Thanks to everyone for their candid, honest thoughts and struggles. I concur with everyone here, and am having the same experience. I was banded on 9/2/9. I'd lost 10 pounds pre-op (on liquids) and thought I had found the Holy Grail. But in the five weeks since surgery, and since moving to regular foods, I have actually gained a couple pounds! I've been working out a lot and trying to journal, but like many have said here, I still struggle with caving to crap food and old (bad) habits like emotional eating. It's hard because I feel like this is just another "diet" that hasn't work .... a "diet" that cost me $16,500 (I paid cash for mine since I didn't qualify through insurance). All of this was leading me to feel like a failure until I came across this thread. Everyone's thoughts have made me realize two things: (1) it is early in the game, and my band isn't really fully functional until it is filled (I've only had one fill so far, 4cc); and (2) the band isn't going to magically do this "for" me, it is going to do this "with" me, which means I need to cut out junk that isn't healthy for me - with our without the band - and keep up the exercise, planning meals, etc. A great big THANK YOU to abercchick for starting this thread. It set me back on course today when I felt like giving up. Keep up the good work everyone! surfergirl 4011 carlsbad, ca starting weight: 229 pre-op weight: 219 current weight: 221 NOT GIVING UP ..... ever!!!

    THANK YOU!

My big day is tomorrow! Whoo hoo!! I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you for the vast amounts of information, encouragement, and support! If I did not have all of you in my world, I think I would be very, very nervous tonight. I actually feel ok - just a little nervous, but mostly excited to get this phase started. Thank you for sharing your experiences, knowledge, and vulnerabilities. It is amazing to have this vast group of support! It's been a 10-month journey through the classes, medical tests, six-month supervised diet, and long awaited approval. I can hardly believe that the big day is here! Lots of love to all of you! My gratitude is immense! Prayers, good thoughts, and support are welcome! Surgery is at 10am tomorrow!

    Alcohol and Weightloss

@@Cape Crooner hey bud when i read you first sentence - i thought to myself, cool you are tracking, eating ,drinking (water LOL) protein - exercising you are doing great many people don't weigh everyday (I do) if you don't weigh weigh during the week, you don't know if you have stalled (an OFFICIAL stall refers to not loosing weight for at least three weeks) NOT if you haven't lost in 3 days or so LOL after NOT weighing yourself all week you step on the scale it might show a weight loss it's time to show that loss! happened to coincide with after you had drank a "little" alcohol personally i don't think the loss had anything to do with a few drinks as far as burning 3,000 calories a day for fear of death (or worse!!) i wouldn't touch that statement with a 10 ft pole LOL truth is, i don't know the right answer I don't think any OP were cruel about the tracker situation they gave their opinion an "opinion" is just that, an opinion no one can be right or wrong about an opinion like others, i think this thread has gotten out of hand The Horse Died!!!! enough said? that's great that you have lost 82 lbs sooooo close to GOAL keep up the good work congrats on weight loss kathy

    Made a hopeful purchase today

Well I think you will be in a size 12. Personally, I have 2 closets. One for clothes I can wear now and clothes I have not worn in years....I have like 12 pairs of jeans from 24 to 16. Yes when I met my husband 10 years ago, I wore a size 16. Now I am a size 26/28. I have this one dress it is a size 20. It still has tags on it. Looking forward to wearing it. Since it has never been worn. I want to wear my jeans again. So apple get in them dresses I am rooting for you. Sugery date: 5/4/2011 P.S. It really home about the surgery today when I got the letter from the insurance company regarding the approval. I realize my dream for the last few years is actually going to come true.
  18. I am on day 10 post-op. My incisions are still covered. They are starting to peel a bit and look funky and I am worried about infection. When did you remove your tape from your incision? Thanks for your help.

    Knee injury

I can tell you that I had a torn meniscus about 9 years ago, and while it was better after surgery, it still hurt. However, it has rarely bothered me since I lost about 40 lbs after the surgery. It had only really bugged me consistently when I let my weight creep back up about 20 lbs. Other than that, it is sometimes mildly painful if I've been on my feet all day and walked literally 10 miles or more. Even then it recovers quickly. I'm hoping that will become even less of a problem as I start seriously losing post surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using VST
  20. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. A little over a year ago, I had the surgery done and lost all my weight. Our relationship has only gotten better, not that it was bad in the first place. I just had issues with my self esteem and he tried hard to boost my confidences. We're still very happy together, no relationship issues, and are growing in our relationship every day. We do more because I have lost my weight. And he lost weight with me! Because I'm the one who cooks in the house, when my diet changed, his did too. This was a good thing considering he is in the military and has to follow strict guidelines on weight and waist size.

    Being Banded In The Morning!!

My surgery was Aug. 10, 2011. I've lost about 60-65lb.s in all. I'm wearing attractive clothes again...not the "fat uniforms" that I used to wear. I still have a problem with "me" & temptation. But I am determined to stay healthy.I can now play with my grand children...get down in the floor...& get up again like I did years ago. Yes, I flabbed at first, but gradually, my skin started to tighten up. I would loose pounds & then stop. Then i would suddenly realize that I had dropped another clothing size. Talk about ":wow'. It was quite an adjustment. When I get tempted, I look at photos that I have in a special file on my pc. It is full of the worst pictures of me at my heaviest weight at the worst possible angles. I open that file & ask myself if I really want to go there again. It's hard in that my head gets hungry (not my stomach!) Boy do me & myself have some arguments! But, now i wore heels...really sharp looking ones...for the first time in years...comfortably. And I can cross my legs again, like a lady. Love it. I feel younger, feminine, attractive again & it's wonderful. Just follow your doctor's orders 7 take it easy at first. If you have any concerns..no matter how silly they may seem to you, they arn't to your doctor. The more that you know & understand, the better it will be for you & your doctor. You will be in my prayers this am.

    Up and Down...

I hear ya on the emotions. My husband had to leave 1 week post op for me (9/2 surg.) for an out of state job for 2 months and I live WAY out of the city so too far on a work night to see freinds. I've been feeling a bit blue and getting out to work out and such but I'm not feeling very engaged in things and am sure it's being alone and also maybe a bit anti climatic on the surgery. It's this huge anticpated event and even though logically I did not expect an immediate change... maybe somehow I thought I would feel different? I go back to work the day after tommorow and I do think being around people will help. I have a stressful job too but I am putting some little Zen inspired notes around my cube to keep me from letting it both get to me and also to make sure I don't get sucked into 10 hour days right away. Do you have an inperson support group as well? I have 1 but it's late and far so not home til 9pm when I go so have not made it the last 2 months but I'm making that a priority. There is only 1 other lapband person in my group but it still helps.:mad2:
  24. Tilt your neck/head back open your mouth slowly and close it slowly you could feel the workout on your neck do 5 reps of 10 like 3 times a day. I'm 30yrs old my insanity trainer told me to do that. I could feel it.
  25. I had the same issues Jenna, I was terrified .. I actually canceled and got my money back once before I finally went through with it.. and I thank God every day that I did. It is different, I am not going to sugar coat it. 10 of us in a van pulling into a strip mall to have major surgery.. I was in a full panic attack.. until I went inside.. there it was a crisp clean medical clinic, very nice people, very friendly, We all 10 had our surgeries that day/night and we all did very well.. I personally had to travel from the hotel to the clinic for check ups.. I would rather stay in a hospital and not do the travel if it was an option .. also there is no delivery of the pain medication.. you only get it in your iv when you drive back to the clinic. Most of us suffered from gas pain more than anything else.. some of the girls looked like they had not even had surgery and felt great.. they were smaller in size if that matters or not im not sure. But all in all, I knew it was cheaper for many reasons and My Doctor did a fantastic job, I have not had any issues what so ever with my surgery and one of the ladies that had surgery with me was checked out in the States when she returned home.. the Doc said " well, he knew what he was doing, that is for certain" . My cost was $4,500 , safe, clean, caring, very nice hotel, popcicles a plenty, free broth from the kitchen.. I would do it over and over and over again.. I do plan to return next year to get the flab removed lol
