  1. yeah i do some weights, i would say light weights not heavy LOL . I am going to try to change up my work outs. when i see the dietician on the 11th i will have her log on to livestrong.com thats where i track all my calories and exercise ,so she can see exactly what i am doing LOL

  2. Thats great! Im glad your feeling full. I am getting another fill in 3 weeks. I hope I can make it and actually manage to drop some weight in between time! Anyway..peanuts are the devil! Be careful not to eat too much peanut butter, high in fat, carbs, calories. Although it is a "healthy" food, Its not to good for the "lap band" way of life...

  3. Today went great, I stayed within my calorie goal, focused on protein, the only thing missing was exercise. I will definetly get caught up on that this weekend!

  4. I did have a leak, and was completely NPO (nothing by mouth)for 22 days. I had a pic line in my arm that fed me 1800 calories a day for over 2 weeks. It is emotional, and very mentally/physically draining, but you will heal and recover. Trust your doctors, and once you are back on liquids, stick to the post-op guidelines. Hang in there, it'll get better each day.

  5. Hi Coops, don't really want to say to much about this revamp but I don't know if it's just because I'm not used to it but I ahate it!!! Didn't have a good day yesterday, thin I had too many carbs/calories (ussually have too many carbs anyway) Am down to 82 kilos though, another 2 kilos in a bit more than a week but for some reason I'm being negative and think...

  6. Wow, Tim, it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate right now (except for food)! I'm sorry things are so stressful.

I'm not on regular foods yet. I have one more week of mushies and then move on to soft foods. I'm pretty sure I'm confusing the two. I started doing much better this past week because I added fish to my diet. I did it a little earlier than scheduled, but I had to do something to get in enough protein. I told the doc about it and she is (mostly) okay with it. My weight loss is frustratingly slow. I don't know why. I'm walking on the treadmill (only fifteen minutes a day) and I'm getting my protein in and I'm not overdoing carbs or calories. I'm still not drinking enough liquids, but I'm doing the best that I can. I feel great for parts of the day and then sink into a no energy zone for a while. I sure hope this evens out.

How are you feeling? What are you eating?

  7. I still have bouts of being tired. I noticed a difference when I started mushies.... I was getting more calories and felt better. I get tired in the late afternoons and on the weekends when I try to nap I can't. I was out of town for the meeting. Did you make it?

  8. Yep. I feel really good about him. Thanks for sharing your story. I am still nervous - cannot imagine how nervous I would be if I were going to Mexico. WHat was I thinking? I'm at the Forest Park facility. Wow. It is getting official, friend. The diet begins on 12/15. I am a little unsure about the rules - is it liquid only or liquid and one meal, but not to exceed 1200 calories. I have to read that again..... What protien powders do you like?

  9. Hey Chancie! I just had someone come to visit us that brought me Body Fortress Cookies N' Creme from the states all the way to Nicaragua! I am so happy! I can't buy a protein powder here in Nicaragua and I wanted to get this one because you recommended it. Although I just got one so I don't think it will last that long... :-( I had a question. Do you just use it in coffee or have you had it any other way? In water? I'm only 4 weeks out and I didn't know if I should start drinking coffee yet. I'd like to, but everyone seems to tell me to wait. My other question is how do you do with the calories? This does have quite a bit of calories. 2 scoops = 290 calories. If you have two scoops how many calories do you usually have in food each day? You count these calories the same as food right? Thanks so much for your help! By the way, you look great! ;-)

  10. DeeDee -

I have been trying to sip all day long. It's a chore. I am sucking on a SF popsicle now. I can feel every swallow land in my irritated (and smaller) stomach. Not pleasant. Walking hasn't been much of a problem. The more you walk, the easier it gets. I struggled to get in and out of my bed at first. Last night I had terrible gas pains and was in and out of bed all night. It got easier - now it's no problem. Everything is tender but manageable. My only advise on protein is find conc. protein (high protein/small volume). Yesterday I made a Nectar protein with diluted crystal light. All together was almost 18oz of fluid (just like what I was drinking before surgery). It took me 6 hrs to finish one 23g serving. Today I just made the nectar with 8oz of water and got all 23g of protein in about 90 min. Some of the bariatric drinks didn't sound to appealing pre-op because there was no volume for the calories consumed. I know see the benefit.

    How are you doing?

  11. Been stalled since adding full liquids on Monday, so frustrating!! Working out daily and tracking calories but the scales won't move. So maddening...

  12. Hi there! I guess you could say I am dieting...sticking to protein first and trying to get in all my fluids each day. I keep my carbs around 30g per day.

I'm not exercising much and I'm sure if I would I'd be losing a little better...it's just so danged HOT. Sounds like you're in the dreaded 3 week stall...it happens to most of us but it will pass. Did you take measurements of yourself before surgery? It was nice to see the inches coming off even when the scale wasn't moving.

Also are you journaling what you eat everyday? That's been a tremendous help to me. I use Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com to log everything everyday.

Oh and feel free to write me anytime!

  13. wow.. your amazing.. Listen for the past week . my weight loss has stop it goes up a lb, then down a lb. its crazy because AI always watche what I eat and walk and doo aerobics and swim atleast once a week, I sometime burn more calories than I eat. I only eat 800- 1200 cal per day. I think I get all my protein. what can I do to get me moving again. its only been 8 weeks now..but I am so tired of still being FAT!!!! i know its a mental thing but I want this stuff gone.

  14. Hey Missy Carolyn,

Thanks for the nice comments. I look baggie, too, and not happy about that, but comes with the territory of major fast weight loss. I've also had a piriformis muscle issue on the left glute that's bugging the sh*t out of me, painful. Doc says due to the weight loss. I'll go back to Mexico to get rid of all the hanging skin - Dr. Bell0 - already got the quote. Just waiting for my DH's job situation to settle before I set a date. I don't get in nearly the protein I should be; my calorie count is still very low, though, and I have 8 pounds to goal. I drink my protein drinks maybe 2X a week.

  15. Renee,

It is so good to hear you comment about losing without a lot of obsession. I totally agree with you, I had my surgery only 2 weeks ago, 12/29, but one of my big hopes was that I would NOT be on a diet in 2010. I want to be aware of what I am eating, and I want to not be out of control as I was pre-surgery, but if I want to have a small piece of pizza down the road, so be it. Have you had your success without a lot of worry about calories, carbs? I am making sure I get 60 g of protein and 60 oz of water. I am just moving to mushies this week. I guess I want to be sure and get off on the right foot....

  16. Hey girl, I just wanted to stop by and see how your pre-surgery weight loss was going? I am doin pretty good just wantching calories and fat! Can't wait til my last appt. on the 17th, I'm ready to get this done!!!

  17. Thursdady we had to o to the dr for Lee and afterwards we stopped at dairy queen. Yes I know not very nutritional. But it was the only thing around. (Little town) So I ordered one of their grilled chicken wraps with cheese. Looked it up and it was only 200 calories. Not to bad. I ate 4 french fries of Lees. I ate so fast that by the time we got out to the truck my stomach hurt so bad. I really wanted to throw-up. So Friday I was back on LIquids again.. Oh well live and learn.

  18. Any great ways to get my 800 calories and my 50 grams of protein in? I didn't get it in today. Today was my first full day at home and I need to do better tomorrow. Would love some advices on things to buy/eat.

  19. Good Morning, Well its been 9 weeks today and I think I hit a platue. I cant seem to get past this 39 lbs. Im wondering if I am not getting enough calories. I am eating between 500-700 calories per day. I try to get more but I just cant seem to get there. Hopefully at my post op class they will help me with this.

  20. for those of you who track their food in a log, you can go to fatsecret.com and it puts up your food intake and they have almost every food imaginable, you can choose your portions, and it counts it all for you!!! Plus it counts your exercise log too and how many calories you burn with what exercise you choose!! It's great!!

  21. I have found veggie burgers :) I can't eat meat, but I am going to eat the closest thing to it lol. They're actually pretty good. 170 calories and 17 grams of protien :) :)

  22. I don't get it, I ate a whole packet of trail mix (650 calories) yesterday and today I'm down 1.7 pounds. What the heck?

  23. I am feeling GREAT! Dr K and his PA have been wonderful. I got my staples out on Tuesday. and they put steristrips over the wounds. I started back to Work Monday. Not bad so far.

I also start walking Monday. & Yeterday I was able to walk 2 miles in 25 min. so not bad. Still mostly drinking all my calories. I keep track of my calories/exercise on my phone w/MY fitness pal app. I ave...

  24. I saw you post about a 3 to 5 week stall. thats me right now. freaking out... glad to hear its normal though. Can you tell me about how many calories you intake a day? I am trying to make sure I am doing everything right. : ) thanks.
