C section mommies
Starfish23 replied to DVontesmommy1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had revision from sleeve to bypass on Tuesday. I came home yesterday and the pain is minimal. They sent me home with prescription for pain but haven’t needed it. It’s in comfortable due to bloating but it’s tolerable. I had a c-section as well and this is easier I think. But keep in mind everyone is differently. Good luck to you! -

I am wishing you well and lots of success on your upcoming revision! That pic was good angle and great lighting lol. I have about 175lbs to lose, but doc says I will only lose about 130lbs and I want to prove him wrong lol. -

Hi, I had gastric bypass in 2006. I lost almost 100lbs but in the last 2 years have regained almost 50lbs. I am scheduled for revision 7/31/2018. I had and upper endoscopy and my pouch to my small intestine had stretched. My insurance approved it in less than 2 months. I have bcbs ppo -
Gastric bypass revision
beauty1973 replied to Bethel's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am scheduled 7/31/18 for the revision. I have bcbc ppo and I was approved in less than 2 months. I had an upper endscopy which showed my opening from my pouch to small intestine had stretch significantly. If it is a surgical problem they should approve it. -
I do agree. I wish sometimes people would search for the topics that have already been posted. I get wanting someone to post to your concerns but there are hundreds of posts about stalls, which surgery did you choose and why, pre op diets, sleeve to bypass revision, etc. Use the search!

1 week to surgery and I'm freaking out
beauty1973 replied to k_nephew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I had gastric bypass in 2006 if the sleeve was available I would have chosen that one. I am scheduled July 31for a revision and I am very nervous as well considering this is my second time around. It is expected to be nervous but you will be fine. I had some complications after my surgery but I survived. You will be very happy with your new weight loss. Looking at your picture you don't look like your really overweight. -
I had gastric bypass in 2006. I lost 90lbs not the total amount I wanted to loose. Well, its been 12 years later and within the last 2 years I have gained almost 50 lbs. I have been approved for a revision due to the fact that my connection between my pouch and small intestines has stretched. Has anyone had this revision done and if so how is it going. I am nervous to excited at the same time.

Gassy stomach discomfort question
Matt Z replied to Syntax_Attack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be given one at the Hospital post surgery, and I do believe everyone gets one. I got one back in 2011 when I had the Band installed and I got another one in March when I was revised to the Bypass. -
I was banded in 2011, lost 70, then nothing for years. I was recently revised to the Bypass and I could not be happier with that choice!

Sleeve Failure - Revision in 2 weeks
jmart_RN replied to Cindyjo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my sleeve to bypass revision on 5/22. I was sore the first few days but I was also up and walking. Thanks to my husband for getting me out of the house and walking. I have a desk job and was able to return to work a week after surgery. I have lots of energy but still try to limit what I do because I don’t want to hurt myself since I’m still healing. I haven’t been hungry or craving food even when I make dinner for the family I’m not tempted to taste it. I have been getting my fluids in. I find that sugar free jello does not agree with me. Nor does the sugar free popsicles. I’m hoping the surgeon advances my diet tomorrow because I feel I’m ready to start trying new flavors. -
May 2018 losers bench
Screwballski replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
13 days post op. Absolutely no surgical or incision pain from the moment I woke up. No pouch pain either. It was fantastic! My only pain was muscular (in my lower /mid back) from surgical positioning. Unfortunately, as soon as I was able to start protein drinks, I began having “intestinal distress”. It took me until yesterday (with the help of this forum) to figure out that whey was causing the problem. Haven’t been hungry. Weighed 180 on the day of Surgery. Weigh 171 today. I needed the revision because my 11 year old Band/port just kinda went psycho! Best wishes to all! -
Flying to Tijuana in April
Melixxa replied to lobreezley's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Alex, what made you choose the mini-bypass over regular gastric bypass? But back on topic: I had sleeve surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Garcia of Tijuana Bariatrics. I liked him, and had no complications, but I have not been wildly successful losing weight. I considering a revision surgery. -
Working after Gastric bypass
jmart_RN replied to pancakes2k18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with everyone's comments. I had surgery on 5/22/18 and was released the next day. I had a revision from sleeve to bypass. Although I had some minor discomfort I forced myself to get up and walk. Just standing at the sink brushing my teeth was uncomfortable. I have a desk job and therefore only took one week off of work. I am back at work today and so far I feel okay. A little discomfort from sitting for long periods of times so I make a point to get up and walk around often. I would check with your surgeon and get cleared prior to return to school. I had restrictions regarding bending, lifting, and twisting. Hope everything goes well and best of luck. -
To tell coworkers or not?
Screwballski replied to Trash_Panda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve been through this twice. Over a decade ago I had LapBand surgery. I was completely transparent. No secrets. I had no clue how many opinions, judgements and lectures I’d receive. I also found a lot of support. But, had I known, I sure would have done it differently! This time, for my revision, it’s was on a need to know basis. And, even though my band caused an injury and my port was painfully flipped, I caught some grief. 🙂🤷♀️ -
I was banded back in 2011, I wanted to revise to the sleeve, but was advised against it, I was revised to bypass on March 21st and I couldn't be happier!

I am 13 days post op. I have had diarrhea for 11 days. I am barely getting fluids in and am hitting the protein benchmark of 90 grams half of the days. The rest of the time I get at least 45g in. My struggle is, the moment I get something in, it comes out! I’ve been tested, by my primary doctor, for everything...negative. I see my surgeon tomorrow for the first time...has not spoken to me on phone...office staff says, “Just drink your liquids and get your proteins in.” Surgeon’s office days I can’t take anything to slow down system. Now for numbers: According to my scale, I was 181lbs when I went in for revision from band to sleeve. Came home with fluid weight of 186.5lbs. Have been down to 172lbs I’ve last few post op days. Woke up this morning and weighed 174.5lbs AFTER using the restroom! How am I gaining weight when I can’t hold water, let alone protein or even begin my supplements!!!

Welcome, Kimber! You'll find quite a few people who have had or are planning sleeve-to-RNY revision surgeries. Hopefully you'll click with some folks following your same path!

A big factor that people miss is that as we get older and as we get thinner our Basal Metabolic Rate decreases, and we *NEED* To make sure we take that into account. As stated, if you are having issues, TRACK TRACK TRACK! If you are burning more than you are consuming then you WILL lose weight. As far as intake, everyone is going to be very different, but you still should focus on hitting your protein goal first before ANY other foods, and you still need to be consuming upwards of 128oz of water a day... can't lose fat if you don't have the water required for your body to process the fat. Now, you posted in the Bypass section, but your description says you are a lap band patient. Do you have the band or have you revised to the Bypass?

How much have you lost?
Matt Z replied to sasa_maria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Sasa, I'm 5'9, currently 260. Down 50 lbs since my pre-surgical check in on March 2nd, I was revised from the Band to Bypass on March 21st. Good luck! -
Any sleevers that formerly had bands?
StephanieB1963 replied to sneakyboo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the band placed in 2012. I developed a hernia on my esophagus and needed surgery a year later. During that surgery, they replaced my band. I had 5 years of throwing up, sliming, and finally my stomach prolapsed. I was miserable. A year and half ago, I had a revision and a sleeve. I have never felt better. No more heartburn, throwing up, sliming. I feel normal again. My current struggle is to get back to my good eating habits. I am on a plateau and have been eating junk. I am thinking of going back to my pre-op diet to get back on track. -
My Apologies, Didn't see the date on the side there, just that you were listed as a lap band, and you didn't state you were going in for revision. Good luck on everything! I hit 50 lbs lost today since my pre-surgical check in on March 2nd!

VSG redo and SIPS? Anyone had this?
disco stu replied to Skittlesandrainbows's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had the revision from VSG to SIPs a month and a half ago. You can read some of my play-by-play here: The gas and diarrhea are the real deal....to the point where more than once I worried I had made worse mistake of my life. But I've started to learn how to 'manage' it better, mostly by not eating certain foods, white flour being #1. The good news is that most of the gas issues I get are in the evening, so doesn't effect me too much at work. Some vets say the gas gets better after a year, but most folks on this board have had the full DS, not SIPs. I asked my surgeon a similar question about tightening my pouch and he responded that "We've learned in the last few years that re-sleeving doesn't work. It would be a waste of time." The malabsorption does work, I'm about 20 lbs down so far. The SIPS also - somewhat strangely - has lowered my appetite more than the sleeve did. Then again, I'm only a month and a half into this, so lots could change. -
Revision from sleeve to bypass question
Starfish23 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Had sleeve in 2015 and my GERD got horrible and also developed hernia. Going for revision to bypass tomorrow. For those who had this revision from sleeve to bypass, what do i expect after surgery? Is it a harder recovery? -
PPIs will not stretch your sleeve (you don’t have a pouch) but uncontrolled acid could cause lesions on your esophagus which could lead to Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer. I developed uncontrolled acid about 8 months after my VSG after never having an issue prior to surgery. I was on PPIs for a year before I had to revise to RNY since the PPIs didn’t control my acid and I had developed lesions from the acid. The meds didn’t stretch my sleeve and I was at goal at that time of my revision. In my opinion, if I had heartburn every single day there’s no way in this world I wouldn’t be taking Omeprazole every single day. If you’re concerned maybe consult with a gastroenterologist. Also in my opinion your surgeon’s advice is crap.

Hopefully Dr Iriqua will be revising my band to sleeve.. any suggestions?
