I sometimes do a half a tsp of plain greek yogurt. -
Cereal can be soft. A question to ask yourself is whether cereal is the best choice. It has quite a few calories, but almost no protein. Protein foods include yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, beans, and soft meats like tuna salad or soft white fish. If you are getting plenty of protein and need calories, then cereal IS a good idea. It all depends on how your eating day unfolds.

:smile:Hi there! Everytime I get hungry I eat a little yogurt or jello it helps out a little. Seems like I'm eating all day. Talked to the dietician today she said it was okay. I really get full after drinking my 2 oz broth. in an hour or so I'm hungry again. Cream of Wheat milked down filled me up for about 2 hours. Keep sipping water or protein drinks. sip, sip, sip. Hope that help out a little good luck yes it is hard but let it heal. I'm only 6 days out. I made my own soup stock taste better. Chicken soup, boiling chicken, onion, ginger and hawaiian salt altogether. (sea salt)

I would say it's one or the other. It gets expensive to buy all those bars/drinks for the whole family with all the junk food on top of it. My husband doesn't touch my protein bars/drinks except for my greek yogurts so I get some for him and some for me.

Someone help me!! My NUT won't allow me to eat a tablespoon of coconut oil to help me go..... On the go cheese - babybel, laughing cow, cheese sticks Jerky Lunchables (don't eat the crackers) Okios triple zero yogurts (cup or drink) Ready to drink Protein drinks High protein chips/crackers like Quest, WonderSlim, Medifast etc. I make unflavored Protein added puddings and Gelatin. You can buy 2-5oz cups and lids at your local restaurant supply store. At home meals I've made shrimp (ground) curry with zucchini, chicken and cheese stuffed crepes, Korean bbq, swai with again glaze, crust less quiche. They all have 300cals or less per serving with 17g protein or more. Homemade protein fudgecicles 12oz fairlife milk and 2 scoops GENEPRO. Mix well and pour into 6 pack 3oz popcicle mold. Makes 6 serving 54 cals and 10g protein. Can add in things like PB2, banana baby food, instant coffee, sugar free syrups or ground freeze dried strawberries for only a few more cals and carbs.

So I am still a bit worried because I can eat 5.4 oz pkg of Greek Yogurt and 1/4c cream of wheat Cereal which was my dinner tonight. Do you hit like a hard stop when you try to eat too much? I really am trying to be aware of one but not really getting that full feeling at all. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

If you mix cottage cheese with yogurt it makes more of a thicker yogurt. Seems to mask the cottage cheese taste some.

First off everone is different and you can't compare what one person has lost to another. If you are losing and things are going well - then things are working for you. That being said... I am 90 Days out from surgery. I have lost an average of just over 4 lbs per week since surgery - some weeks more some weeks less. That's about 57 lbs since surgery and another 20 lbs lost pre-op from the pre-op diet for a total of 77 lbs. I've not been in the gym at all but have been more active (swimming, walking, kayaking, etc). As far as intake, my regular day is Greek yogurt, egg substitute or Protein shake for Breakfast, small protein rich lunch (Soup and sashimi, burger - no bun, yogurt, etc) , small protein rich diner (chicken, pork, turkey, beef - all w/ veg) and usually a small snack (yogurt, fat free/sugar free pudding) . Chili has been good with Beans and made with turkey. Not many carbs if I can help it. I have not been perfect - I've had some pizza and a beer or two and I've indulged a few times when going out to dinner. Total daily calories usually add up to about 900-1100 on a normal day.

1. Breakfast. I often workout in the morning so I tend to make a Protein shake. My favorite is greek yougurt, Protein powder + a tbsp of almond butter. Occasionally I switch it up and add fruit and spinach instead. On non-gym days I eat eggs w/ cheese, hardboil eggs or make overnight oats 2. lunch. My favorite lunch is a salad w/ either romaine, spinach or baby greens, black Beans, a hard boiled egg, shredded cheese, and with salsa or olive oil as dressing. I'll toss in avocado if I have some on hand. 3. Snack My go to are 1 ounce packs of nuts, Usually pistachios or cashews. 4. dinner. Most days soups. Sometimes I do a stir fry with seitan or tempeh. You can sub any lean protein. 5. Late night snack. I'm not a late not snacker. For one I eat dinner later than most, around 7pm most days. I'm also typically trying to get the rest of my Water in. Most often I go for a cup of tea if anything. However if I am feeling munchie. I like sliced cucumbers with a splash of lime and sriracha. It's the crunch and spice I often crave and next to no calories. If i'm feeling hungry, I eat a hard boiled egg, a string cheese or a small bit of yogurt. The small amount of fat usually fills me up.

Welcome! In general, I’d say have a little more Protein and veggies to fill up on fewer calories. 1. Breakfast: Maybe have a smaller serving of bagel and have some protein, like a hard-boiled egg white or some cottage cheese. Or have a little less Cereal and mix it with yogurt. Depending on how hungry you are, you could have some fruit, too, because it’s filling and not too high-calorie, and can tide you over. 2. Lunch: For eating out, a green salad is usually safe. You can get the dressing on the side and have grilled chicken (protein) on top, and try to order it without fatty extras like salami and mounds of cheese (a little is okay). You can also go for chicken breast and a side of veggies. 3. Snack: Protein Bars (if you like them) keep in the car. Almonds are good, as long as you keep the serving small. You could also go for pouches of tuna or canned sardines or macerel. 4: Dinner: It’s a pretty safe bet to go with a protein and a cooked veggie or side salad, plus a starch if you need more. For example, chicken, fish, or a veggie or turkey burger, plus broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, etc., plus a small amount of sweet potato or winter squash or brown rice. If you’re willing to cook a little, you can do chili or stir fry – a mixture of protein and veggies. 5. Snack: Yogurt, cottage cheese, protein pudding, fruit. Good luck!

I'm starting my soft food stage this weekend. The menu I was given says I can have poached salmon, scrambled eggs, yogurt and cottage cheese. These are all things I can't really eat without getting nauseous. I was wondering if you could give me suggestions of what else I could eat that is soft, even if it is carbs. I know I don't need these things, and once I'm on my regular diet and can eat whatever, I have a strict meal plan and gym plan for myself, but for now, I'm just trying to get by and keep things in my stomach. Any help would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Halfway through pre-op liquid diet-some thoughts.
Butch Luce posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today is the 7th day of my pre-op liquid diet. Maybe my thoughts may help others. First, I'm proud to say I did not cheat. I was tempted a few times when I was around prepared food such as at a meeting I attended. Fortunately the meal was at the end of the meeting so I made an excuse and went home. Also, I did not go to Lions Club which has a buffet meal during the meeting. I followed my Drs. guidelines religiously. Generally I would have a Protein shake with almond milk or skim milk for Breakfast, then a half cup of Greek yogurt for a mid morning snack, then a premier Protein Shake and another half cup of yogurt at lunch, then drink an Isopure in the afternoon, 32 oz of cold Water in the late afternoon and early evening, then broth for supper. Supper was what I looked forward to all day because it was hot-my hot meal for the day. I alternated among chicken, vegetable, beef broth and then a couple of times had canned tomato Soup with powdered protein added. I usually did not add protein to the broths. I kept track of my "meals and snacks" and ranged from a low of 83 gr. Protein to a high of 164 gr. For calories I ranged from a low of 445 to a high of 978. I tried to hit 60-80gr. Protein and 700-900 calories/ day. I highly recommend keeping track of everything so you can compare meals/days. It has worked for me. As everyone says, the first 2-3 days are the toughest then I sort of got used to it and fell into a routine. Finally, I am retired so it is much easier for me to control things-I know it would be much more difficult if I were still working. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck! Protein supplements are a personal preference and what works for one might not work for the other. The best advice anyone can give you is try different ways to get that protein in. Leverage greek yogurt, cottage cheese and fairlife milk instead of the protein shakes. You may have to eat more often in the beginning because your restriction might hold you up but that is what you have to do. Getting protein is not easy by any means but it is required to keep you healthy. You may have to deal with some yuck factor. I ended up getting used to Premier Protein chocolate. It is the only one i can tolerate and even now, i have one almost every morning to kick start my protein goal for the day. Best of luck to you!

Hard time with Protein Shakes
GotProlactinoma replied to Anndee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m not reading the whole thread so I might be repeating someone else’s idea, but here is what worked for me. Instead of mixing the protein powder with water or milk, I mix it into full fat plain Greek yogurt. I add coconut water as needed just to be able to mix it. Then I put it into little metal lunchbots (I think they are 4 oz containers ) and take them with me or keep in fridge. It doesn’t bug my stomach or make me sweaty and dizzy the way the liquid shakes did. I prefer unsweetened whey powder but just use whatever works for you. Just a few spoonfuls and it’s double the protein too. Good luck. -
New sleevers how are you doing
amyg80 replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/1! It's going great so far! I only had one week of Soups and liquids, and I've been on purées since Tuesday. I'm down 10lbs! I'm trying to get my Protein in by Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, canned chicken breast, Protein shake here or there. Can't eat too much at one time but I'm grazing. I'm failing on my fluids but each day I can take in more and more. Hopefully things stay this way! Let's all keep in touch and help each other out! -
What Are You Eating?
tabithainbremerton replied to Diva817's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not yet had lap band, but should on dec 27, so my hubby asked me for a list of foods for him to buy me. I have been perusing this site tonight looking for good ideas, healthy foods to have. It looks like that's what you're asking... for ideas for alternatives. Here's what I have found, hope some of it sounds yummy. skim milk, broth, sugar free Jello or pudding, cream of wheat, scrambled eggs (maybe with a little cheese), applesauce, cottage cheese, pureed Soup, banana, tuna, yogurt. And remember, just keep moving forward. Just because you made one bad choice doesn't mean you have to make more. As said above- we're all in this together, you can do it! Tabby. -
FAGE is so yummy - my absolute favorite is the peach! I've tried every other brand of Greek yogurt I can find in the storeand by far, Fage is the best around!

It took me a long time to get used to Greek Yogurt, but I kept at it and love it now! Funny how things change Post-surgery, I make Protein Jello (1/2 pack of unflavored protein - a full pack is too much for me, and a box of a strong flavored sugar free - like cherry) and then put about a 1/4 cup jello and 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt and mix it together. Gives it the fruit flavor without the sugar.

I'm almost two months post-bypass and just this week started added 2-3 fresh strawberries and 2-3 slices of banana to my Greek yogurt in the blender -- haven't had any problems and is very yummy -

Were you guess as prepared as u thought u would be?
liannatx replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fully prepared and nothing surgery wise or physically has really surprised me. I did however have an irrational full blown panic attack about 2 weeks post op. I was laying in bed almost asleep and was overcome by this feeling/idea that I would never eat real food again, and would be sipping Water and Protein drinks for the rest of my life. I went into a cold sweat, rapid heartbeat, tunnel vision, all out 30 minute anxiety attack LOL! I got up and walked it off, and that has been my only real moment of "WTF did I do to myself"... but it was a doozy. Ironically, I was already eating soups, yogurt, sugar free Jello and pudding at that time.... so it really made no sense.
