Great question. I’d love to hear everyones input too. I’m not even 2 weeks post op and am drinking alot as well. I went on a 2 mile walk yesterday, came back hot and sweaty then drank 20 oz gatorade zero in less than 30 minutes. my liquid intake and tolerance levels have increased.. did I stretch my pouch?😩 -
Carla - don’t worry honey. It’s two weeks - just keep going no matter what. Even if you slip a little, put it behind you and just keep going. Two weeks time and you’re there x

Any April Surgery Dates?
Bluphiguy replied to rokse23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. I was losing roughly 1 lb per day (25 lbs since surgery). Now I've been stuck around 251 for almost a week. When does the weight loss start to kick back in again? I've started a boxing workout and other cardio to get me off that weight. -
S L O W Weight-loss 2 Months Out
Bandedbut replied to lkautry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been slow and steady too. 1-2 lbs a week. At 3 months I've lost 33 lbs. sonce surgery, 41 total. That is where my Dr. wants it to be. I have no issues with any food, and can eat quite a bit, so I definately have to be very careful what I eat. -
It does improve especially as you start eating more & a wider range of food types so closer to your final stabilised weight. At the moment you are eating so little that not going every day is to be expected. Just don’t let it persist otherwise that’s when you’ll start to experience discomfort or at worst pain or you may need to use more shall we say ‘dramatic’ treatments/interventions. If I hadn’t gone by day 3 I’d take a stool softener so there’d be movement on day 4. That worked for me. Try adding a non swelling soluble fibre to your diet every day to help. Yes, you may continue to experience it as @catwoman7 said forever. I’m four years out & every week or two I can have a day or two of little or no action. I only take something if it persists into a third day but that rarely occurs now.

My surgery was the 25th of April. I hit 2 stalls. First after 2 weeks, then I lost 16 lbs. Stalled again for the last week. I'm down about 30 lbs since surgery. I just saw the nutritionist. He bumped me up to 8-900 calories from 6-700. Still seems like I don't eat anything. He said the stall should end, and I'm about 6% off where I should be. That was 4 days ago. Still zero loss since. Supposedly, this is normal. Sucks, though. I do have a cousin that had the same struggles, but she finally came out of it. She felt depressed that she went through it for nothing, but finally met her goal. I understand her feelings, and yours. I guess we just need to stick with it, and be patient. That's damn hard. Wish you success! Allen

For real for real I'm really nervous because my liquid diet starts tomorrow and that's what I'm so afraid of but I have everything that I need and I just pray to God that I can stick with it for 2 weeks

Can you’ll share how long does the constipation last after surgery and when do your bowels go back to normal. I am 3 weeks post-op.

I had surgery April 26th and haven't lost anything in over 2 weeks. I'm getting discouraged. I started at 235 and am at 207 now. I want to be at 150 or less. Shouldn't it be moving down by now? I mean I eat very little so it can't be calories.

MGB 4 months post op. I’ve lost more than just weight…
SuperGuuurl posted a topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Hi everyone I’m back again for moral support. Got my MGB back in February. After a couple of extremely hard weeks, 5 weeks to be precise, i finally thought that my ordeal was over. I had spent all this time finding it really hard to drink water and reach my protein goals until then. Suddenly, starting the 6th week post op, i saw some light at the end of the tunnel and managed to expand my food a little bit. I avoided everything I was told to avoid until then, oil, sugar, pasta, rice, raw veggies, you name it! one day I was invited to a barbecue and ate what I was given, namely a bit of salad and some marinated chicken. Everything was fine for the days that followed and I was ecstatic! I started to experiment with food more and more and I realised that the food I tolerated the most was still just plain potatoes and carrots with some minced meat of chicken. However, as weeks went by, my sensitivities seemed to increase by the day. I’d try watermelon and suffer excruciating cramps the next day, so I stopped. Then I’d try beans, and I’d be fine the next day but suffer more cramps the day after, long story short, it seemed like every single new food I’d try was not tolerated by my stomach. The pain and cramps would be instant, and the explosive diarrhoea would follow the next morning like clockwork. I remember at some point, i barely ate for 2 days and what followed were the most painful cramps and hunger pangs I’ve ever ever experienced in my life! Looking at a plate of food triggers me now. I am absolutely scared of putting anything in my mouth. Even my trusted potatoes and carrots have forsaken me. That means I have not a single food that I seem to tolerate and I have absolutely no idea how this happened! Today, i tried boiled potato with some rotisserie chicken, and ended up vomiting 3 times. And when I say vomit, i mean, gag as if I would vomit, but only saliva comes out. i feel weak and desperate. I have lost 32kg in almost 4 months, that about 70 pounds. That is way too much weight. Let’s not start about my hair loss… it’s ridiculous. I plan to shave my head… i never in a million years thought this would be my life after the surgery. I have a doc appointment this week but only will see my surgeon in July… does this story sound familiar to any of you guys? Did I do something wrong? What did I miss?! I’ve been on the verge of going to the ER multiple times…- 14 replies

May 2023 surgeries

Guys I am having it bad right now. Under the regiment that my doctor has me on I can not have purées until week 4 which is still8 days away. I also have some texture problems when it comes to oatmeal or pudding. On week two I was allowed to start sugar free pudding and applesauce. The applesauce is way to sweet for me right now and it the no sugar added. Hasn’t made me dump but sure has made me nauseous. Tomorrow I can start oatmeal!! Yay for others not so much for me! I just want to taste something other than protein drinks. I have been doing my water and protein goal just fine it’s just getting hard to make myself drink it. It’s one more week and i know I can do it but it’s really still just another week of protein drinks and water. Also starting to get to my first stall which is kinda annoying but I know I just need to keep walking and drinking. I know it happens and understand why just one of those things you have to get pass. I have told my husband to take the scale away and I’ll measure myself on Wednesday and Sunday instead of everyday. Sorry for long rant just need to say it to other that understand. -
Clipper1, it’ll all work out. I finally broke the plateau and lost 10lbs in a week. I talked to my Dr he assured me it’s normal and as long as I follow the program I’ll progress. Sending good vibes to you!

I had gastric bypass Roux N Y on May 3rd. First two weeks were pretty good, no pain or nausea at all really. Now, for the past week I seem to have nausea all the time. Everything I try to eat tastes disgusting to me and makes me want to gag. I'm barely eating anything at all. I feel like I wake up nauseated and stay that way all day. I am able to get water down, but food is almost a no go at this point. I absolutely hate the protein drinks. Just the thought of them makes me want to puke. I've tried several different ones and unflavored powders, as well as a protein "lemonade" mix, and protein water and I just can't. I'm so over this at this point. Hoping it gets better soon. It's not even the taste of food that I miss, it's the being able to eat without wanting to vomit just thinking about it.

Hang in there! This is a great video describing what is going on: The TLDR Version: In the first three weeks, you are losing more weight than is possible given your calorie deficiency, that is extra water around your body. You actually become dehydrated in those first few weeks until your body regulates itself and starts to store some more water to get you out of that dehydrated state. That usually happens around week 3, so you stall. You are STILL losing fat, you are just retaining more (needed) water than the fat you are losing that week.

April 25th surgery. Had two stalls, already. First was about 2 weeks in. Stuck for a week. Then I dropped 16 lbs in a week, now, stuck again for a week. Wish I knew what the bleep I've done wrong.

Hi all! First time posting. Had VSG Monday, May 22nd. Just following this thread as I’m in the first week home and I’m absorbing tips. -
I wouldn’t have made it. I can’t do heat for that long. Only 2 weeks PO. I stay hydrated and even just 30 mins outside is to much. But I also live in Texas so it’s hot.

Food Before and After Photos

Sorry I’ve been missing but my baby sister had mini strokes on top of sepsis a couple weeks ago and since I speak “medicalese” (per my mother) I took hospital duties which meant a lot of unseasoned soups, green beans and too many coffees and snacks. But now that she’s awake and learning to feed herself again I can step back a bit. (It’s been stressful!) Anyway, todays micro pizza slices (sauce cup for reference- didn’t use) because the restaurant didn’t deliver my salad. 😞 -
Went to a renaissance festival today with my kiddos, 5 hours of walking around in the hot sun. I was wasted by the time we left, slept the entire 50m drive back to our house. Might have been a bit too much 2 weeks out of surgery. Other than that, did great. I did want a bite of my kid's sausage on a stick (one of my favorite things), but it wasn't too hard to resist Hope you are all doing great.
