The last thread I posted was titled "How many do you have"? Referring to how many goals you may have with your weight. I said that my first goal was to get down to 200lbs even, no ounces. Well, I have hit that goal. I weight 200lbs and I am so excited. I hope that all of you reach your goals! The chart below starts for my 2nd goal of 150. I have currently lost 67 UNWANTED pounds url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/w678TMh/] [/url]

I second TijuanaPlication's advice, stay off the scale. I have lost 44 pounds so far (20 pre-op and 24 post op. I am three weeks and one day from surgery) and NO ONE has noticed that I have lost any weight. And even stranger, my clothes aren't that loose. I noticed that my rings are loose, and my work shoes feel a little loose, and my boobs has DISAPPEARED; but otherwise, nothing has changed! Yet when I do weigh, the scale tells me I have lost. I am going on faith that eventually my body will HAVE to start to contract. I mean, can you loose 44 pounds off your fingers, feet and boobs? (I was not THAT generously endowed!) I hate it that no one has noticed, but keep telling myself that one day people who know me WILL notice. I have sworn off the scale, except for once a week. I found that if I didn't loose a pound every day, I was self restricitng my Fluid and Protein intake, which I know can't be good this soon after surgery. So now I am weighing only once a week. Take Heart, the weight is going to come off! KathyD49 -
One week post op and no weight loss
blizair09 replied to Frenchie1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has just been a week since your surgery. Your body has been through a huge trauma, and is trying to recover. Also the fluids and gas they pumped into you during the surgery take time to exit your body; in fact, most people gain a little during the surgery process itself. Just stick to your plan and the scale will start to move soon. I would stay off of the scale for the time being if it is going to upset or discourage you. Good luck! -
How slow is your weight loss 6, 9, 12+ months post op?
Infernored posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, just wondering what your weight loss is after 6 months. I am 6 months out now and have lost 95 pounds so far, but the last few months it has been dragging. I still eat between 600 - 1100 calories a day. Most days I get 80g + of protein and keep my carbs under 30g. I exercise a few days a week and stay very active. I wear about a size 16 now (started at a 24). I would like to lose another 70 - 75 lbs, but would be happy with 50. I am going to change up my exercise routine tomorrow to see if that helps. I have been doing lots of walking and c25k. I'm going to start aerobics and weight training tomorrow and aim to do that 4 days a week. In my head I know I will lose more weight eventually, but I still get scared that this is it. How is everyone else doing? -
How slow is your weight loss 6, 9, 12+ months post op?
sasicas replied to Infernored's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit goal at 6 1/2 months and am now at 8 months, so my weight has slowed quite a bit but still coming off. I have been losing about 6 lbs a month over the last 2 months. -
I'm doing the same. I see my nutritionist today for the weigh in since my sleeve surgery on April 11. I have noticed my face is getting smaller too. I wish you continued success on your weight loss journey.

5 Month Post-Op Psycholgical Adjustment Issues
pati-o replied to anonymous2006's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here are my thoughts- however simplistic they may seem. After reading your post, it appears to me that (pre-banding) you had your life mapped out. Live until your fourties, then die. Now that you've lost the weight and can't sabotage yourself in the quest for being thin, you have NO idea what to do with your life. You're most likely NOT going to die in your 40's, so that's shot to hell. You aren't going to reach your goal then make a 180 and gain it all back. Seems to me that you're just unsure of how to really LIVE. It also seems that you've always looked at weight loss as a sure failure. Not so this time around. I understand the restlessness....Not only do I feel that I can no longer be obsessed with being HUGE, I'm sending my baby off to school this fall and have to start another chapter in my life that doesn't involve little kids at home. One thing is for sure, the possibilities are endless if we're willing to take the time to explore them. Pati -
Tonight I went to a birthday dinner at my bf's sister house. Just his immediate family were there. Some of them I have not seen in months and can't believe all the woman would not say a word when I took off my coat. His Mom had plenty to say when I was 42 pounds heavier. But now thinner..... No, No words. His 2 sisters did not say anything. I can't believe the compliments I rec'd were from 2 men at the gathering. One was elderly but he has met me before at that house and was like wow, u look different, You lost alot of weight. I responed and said yes, 42 pounds and 42 to go. He told me how great I look and still all the woman said NOTHING<>>> How hateful......The second man that spoke up was my bf's bother in law Big Dave. He came right into the dinning room area and soflty said that I was doing great and keep up the good work. He said he can really see it in my face. He is around 50 years old and he is very handsome. I was so embarrased when he came over to tell me he notice but it felt good. I really can tell now that I have gone done 3 sizes. I just feel so hurt and his Mom can't find any kindness in her heart and compliment me. She is so negative and is not a nice person. I love my b/f with all my heart. I really don't share with him how I feel b/c I don't think he wants to hear it. He knows that his Mom is abrasive because we have spoke about it before. He loves her but does know that she can be a bit hard to handle sometimes. He is her only son. She also has 2 sisters. I need some advice. I feel like, do I really want to go and be with them for the holiday. I am expected to go with him for all the holidays coming up b/c I have no family in Ct. My parents and brother live in central florida. Thanks MOM !!!

Well...........I made it. Finally reached my original goal. And it's a good one too, as the bod seems to be pretty much at a neutral point. It's really tough to lose any more weight and it doesn't take much neglect to result in an increase in weight either. Funny thing is, it's kind of anti-climatic. I have enjoyed the challenge and the effort. Proving I can do it. I'm not ready to be done. So I think I'll add in another five pounds to lose to give me a little leeway. Then, I'm gonna set a goal of proving to myself I can maintain the weight without gaining for a year....then two. Yeah.....that's the ticket........... Guess you guys are stuck with me for quite a while......

Congrats to you @@Recycled! I think some achievement I like that, and perhaps it is because the goals we set when we start out feel so terribly important and monumental, and then (at least for me) the gains in activity and health we make along the way, and the joys we discover by living healthier sometimes end up being even better than that original weight goal. I am personally surprised to find it is easier to stop stressing each scale – number – milestone when I can enjoy marking the milestone of being able to do a 5K, a 5 mile, or a hike with a great view from much elevation gain I've climbed.but hey – in any case – major accomplishment, and congratulations well deserved!! I also have to say how often I have read your posts and found something of real value to consider or appreciated your directness and "take it as it comes "approach. Thank you, and I'm glad you will continue on the boards here. ???? Kate

I had the exact thoughts you are having before starting the pre op diet, and all I can say is be very careful. I went to my first doctors appointment on Jan 20th and weighed 278. When I stared my 2 week pre op diet on March 16th I was 295. I gained 17 f'in pounds! It was like I was rebelling on years of dieting, and stuffing my face with garbage all day long because I wanted to "get it in" before surgery. Well I have 17 more pounds to lose now, and honestly it's really discouraging. I also debated on weather to start the liquid diet early because I knew I was out of control, but I should have just ate healthy until the night before the liquid diet and then had a "last supper"... and that's what I advise you to do. You really don't want to gain anymore weight because it's a bad note to start things off on.

Congrats!! Welcome to the loser's bench. Just remember to take it easy for a few days, take your pain meds if needed...you will be amazed at how little you will be eating these days. My daughter goes to Dr. Kurian in NYC, surgery tho was done in Houston. But she's lost almost a hundred pounds in 15 months. (and gained a new boy-toy..lol) So good luck on the next leg of your journey Trisha (pennreporter)

One week post op and no weight loss
Frenchie1977 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am exactly one week post op, I started losing about a pound a day then I starting gaining a pound a day and now I am right back to my pre-surgery weight. I'm so frustrated. I have no problems getting in all my liquids and protein, I track my calories and gett anywhere from 600- 900 calories a day. I'm on full liquids, I have not cheated, but I also have no restriction, I can easily finish the whole container of yogurt when I eat. Any advice -
I totally understand where you are coming from! I had thought about the possibility of this problem and even considered that I could sew fishing weights inside of my clothing!! I know - CHEATER!!! LOL Also, I have read on other peoples posts, that the Surgeons submit your original weight to the insurance - you might want to check that!!!

people who con't to loose weight- share ur secrets!
mousecrazy replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't lost as much as some of the others here, but one thing I think is helpful is to understand that no one is perfect and so to hold yourself to a standard of perfection is counter-productive. Be flexible, what is working for you now might not work for you in a few months; be able to look for little changes you can make to keep the weight loss going. One more thing: don't freak out when you stay the same for awhile...most people do that, and your body needs time to adjust. Be nice and let it have it's time. Good luck, Cindy -
I'm pretty new to this board, I posted only once before, and now I forgot how to do it, hopefully I'm posting in the right board, I just couldn't figure out how to start a thread to ask this question: I'm eating now between 1200-1350 for the past two weeks, before I was doiong 1500-1600 and I was in a long plateau, I broke it after my last fill, but I'm concerned that I may still be eating too many calories? Can you tell you how many are you eating? any advises please? I weight 249 now, I walk 30-45 min per day. Thank you for your help. Elena:help: <!-- / message -->

I am active duty wanting desperately to get lap band. I have done a lot of research and each doctor is different with the bmi requirements. I am just under 34% bmi. I went to my PCM on Wednesday, he said he would put in my referral but today said he needed to talk to me. Don't know about what, but hoping its not to pop my bubble. I have high cholesterol and triglycerides. I got my blood work back today and found out that my cholesterol went up 20 points since Jan. I became a vegetarian 3 months ago. I have been dieting for the past 7 years with no luck, every time I get 10lbs off then I gain 15 more. I haven't been able to run for 2 and a half years. I NEED to lose about 75lbs to get back in shape. I might be facing a MEB and I only have 8 yrs till retirement. If anyone has any advice on getting TriCare to pay it would be very much appreciated.:rolleyes2:

I try to do around 900 cal a day, some days more some days less, and am losing weight quite steadily. My body seems to tell me when to stop, I just realised this last night, because after having a few bad days, more than 1000 cal and more than 100 carbs, for the past few days I've only had around 600-700 calories and much less carbs, which is a great thing that never ever happened to me before, I think at last my body is autoregulating. An average adult woman needs abot 2000 cal a day(depending on level of activity BMI etc) So on a "normal" diet to lose weight around 1200 to 1400 should be enough to lose weight. Obviiously we are in a different category, and I intend to ask my nutritionist on friday what my exact calorie intake should be. as I haven't been given a specific guide caloriewise. I'm halfway to goal, but seem much smaller than I used to at this weight. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm just thinking that if i get down to my original goal, a BMI of 24 I'll be tiny! Does anyone reading this have any thoughts? I guess I'll just keep trying to lose until I feel comfortable

Blood Sugars.
Vicki Loichinger replied to eeyoregirl1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be very interested in seeing how you go with this. 80% of the reason I am having this surgery is due to the diabetes. I am so insulin resistant and they just keep pumping me fuller and fuller with it and it causes weight gain and inflamation in every part of my body. Somedays I can't life my hands above my heard to blow dry my hair, Wising you the very best and hoping so much this is the answer to oru diabetes problems. or that at least the need for insulin is lessened. -
Negative remarks -- from someone who should know better
GuyMontag replied to parisshel's topic in Rants & Raves
I've taken a very hands-off approach to my kids' weight. I feel that my parents made me too aware of mine growing up and I still suffer from that. There have been times that my kids have gained a little weight noticeably and it's almost always been followed up by a growth spurt. Now if my kids were obese it might be a different story and honestly I would probably still try and find a way to help them with their weight without trying to make a big deal of it. Maybe being burned at one end of the spectrum I lean too heavy towards the other side but so far my kids' weight overall has not been an issue and I hope it stays that way. That's just my perspective on kids' weight. -

After my first year, in which I lost probably 60lb, I froze for about 9 months. I was sooooooo cold. DH experienced the same thing. i was never one of those hot people that sweated all the time, but I never felt the cold like I did once I'd lost significant weight. It did balance out over time and I no longer feel freezing, but I certainly do feel the cold more than I did at my highest weight. I also love summer. I can dress in barely anything and not worry about how I look and the heat doesnt bother me at all (and it gets HOT here in Melbourne).
