  1. *Having NO slacks left to wear to work (all too big!) *Crossing my legs. Comfortably..without going numb *Fitting into an XL sports tank (formerly wore a 22/24 top) *I made so many new holes in my belts, I had to get rid of them altogether! There are more NSVs, and I cherish each one.

    Two Weeks Post Op today!

Great NSV!! You also had great scale victory also!! you are right to never be disappointed a loss is a loss... and Im so very happy for you. Stay positive and it will all fall in to place!
  3. So it has been a year. To the day. Wow! Just…wow. Progress has been steady. Had a slip up but I am back on track. I think there for a little while I felt bullet proof, you know? Nine months out and I was doing well. I have an additional metabolism issue (genetic) that I knew I would not be the high end loser, so I was comfortable with my loss. I had a foot injury, couldn’t run for a long time, couldn’t do as much of what I normally do as often…and let some bad habits creep in as I dealt with inactivity (inactivity = boredom for me). Holidays were approaching and I was really feeling the loss of my Mom (My Mom passed away a week after my surgery, unexpectedly). So I slipped. Then I caught myself and got right back up again. My “last diet” began in January of 2011…I lost some after months of trying, kept it off a little, and about the same time it began to creep back on I was diagnosed with a tumor in my stomach lining – call it serendipity or what you will…I had to have a lot of my tummy removed anyway, I had lost weight I did not want to put back on, and long story short: “last diet” 1/2011, diagnosed w/tumor 10/2011, sleeved 1/4/2012. I was self-pay more than insurance covered anything, because the insurance argued I could get the tumor removed endoscopically, grrrr…but oh well and bills, bills, bills later (paid but disputing a balance w/ with my insurance) sleeved…and I would pay so much more, in hindsight. It has been a crazy journey, so many NSV, so much rediscovering myself….I am nowhere near done. Support from this group has been so important… I am back into everything I missed, trying new things, and there is something about this – doing this now – it is like I am discovering a whole new me. At 39 years old, I am coming “into my own” at the same time I am adapting to my new body…it blows my mind still… Size 14 for now…will maybe try for 10, but 12 would be great. At 5’10” and built like a linebacker, rather than a ballerina it’s a good size for me. Wish me perseverance, and strength - and the same to you all… God Bless. Namaste. Always.

    Tell me your recent NSV!

The lady in wawa didnt recognize me, and asked my son if i was his older sister! I had not been there in a few months ans normally i talk it up with the lady who rings us up....that was a def NSV. Im hoping i have the pants victory soon :-)
  5. Today I wore pants that I haven't worn in YEARS (yes, I save everything). I tried them on a few weeks ago and they were a little tight...so I put them back in the closet thinking ok, I'll try them in a couple weeks. Well today I put them on and they were big...almost sloppy...I was amazed!! I wore them to work but they probably won't be worn again. Squeal!!

    Two Weeks Post Op today!

Sometimes I still wake up and can’t BELIEVE I went and got me some weight loss surgery. I actually did it. This year is gonna BANG, BABY! Highest Weight EVAH- 273 Day of Surgery - 250 Week 1 Weight - 241.2 Week 2 Weight - 239.2 Total Loss - 10.8lbs (-2lbs) I promised myself that I would never be disappointed about a loss, so I refuse to be disappointed. I DID expect more but my body has been playing bald headed games with constipation and water retention, in addition to the adjustment from clear liquids to FULL liquids and eating soups and such. I’m happy to see a loss from last week. I DID see as low as 238.4 this week but then I went back up to 240! ACK! Enter Colace and lots of water to save the day. I expect to see 238 again soon. This is a BIG reason why I weigh everyday. I know, I know, it drives everyone else crazy. What drives ME crazy is to get on the scale after a week and seeing an increase and not knowing WHY. What to correct, what to do. If I get on in the morning and I’m up, I review the day before. Too much salt? Too much nibbling? Not enough of water? It gives me the power of correcting right then and there and then I can watch the numbers go back down. Knowing I am up but not being able to rule out a food or a behavior is useless to me. NSV’s this week- Not too many, it’s still early on in my journey and the weight isn’t ‘falling off’ like it has for others. NOT COMPLAINING cause it is still coming off! I can’t wear any of my size 20 or 22 jeans. I guess that is good. My knees don’t ache like they used to… I can bound up the stairs at my house now. Used to take me a full minute to go up or down 12 steps. I’m sure there are lots of things but sometimes it’s like… I’m doing something and I think…hey! I can DO THIS NOW! Also, I have a jacket that I bought last fall- a berry red trench from Target in XL. The arms on it were SO TIGHT I rarely wore it because I always felt like I was choking. I am no longer choking! \o/ I can’t button it yet….cause I’m busty… but that’ll be another milestone. Week was good, rather uneventful and I suppose that’s how it’ll go. Some will be better than others. I feel like I am still adjusting to The Sleeved Life. I also feel like I need to really get to WORK adding in exercise. I’ve been doing one mile walks about every other day and as my energy allows, I’ve got to start adding in more. This weight isn’t going to just fall off, unfortunately.

    Diabetes recheck with my PCP

SaraLaughs Congratulations bud!!!! the health issues/improvements, are why we have the WLS!!!! you will probably have other health benefits too!! after 20 years, i was taken off my insulin/meds, four weeks PO!!! diabetes meds gone - yes this is a great NSV
  9. I'm only one week out (today) and SHE TOOK ME OFF ALL MY DIABETES MEDS!!! This is the best NSV I have ever had. I can't even tell you how thrilled I am. She's not yet ready to say I don't have diabetes, but she said since I will be losing weight, when I come back for my next recheck in three months, she wouldn't be surprised if we could start saying that I have a history of diabetes, rather than saying I have type II diabetes! I told her, even if I never lost another pound, this surgery was worth it, just for this!

    My very first NSV :)

Awesome NSV. I love clothes shopping now.
  11. Today was my first visit since my surgery last week. Dr says everything is progressing great. I was shocked cuz I actually got to chew today even if it was purée. My husband works at a long term hospital so he brought me home some purée chicken, turkey, green Beans and broccoli(that I'm not allowed to have). Then another week of soft foods then 2 weeks from now I'll be on my lifestyle meal plan. I was surprised that I was going to go thur the meal plans so quickly. I'm so excited...NSV!!!! Oh and I've lost 9 lbs to boot since surgery!!!! Lovin' 2013!!!!
  12. I just uploaded my first video! This was a huge NSV, as I hate having my photo taken or appearing on film. It wasn't as bad as I expected, but I think I'll have to be better prepared next time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27ghLvICixo&feature=youtube_gdata

    My very first NSV :)

    NSV's are the best!! Congrats
  15. To start off, I went to the Dr. for my second fill on New Year's Eve. I was both thrilled and upset that my Dr. said he wasn't going to give me a fill. He said I was losing weight much faster than others and that there was no need and was happy about my progress. I, of course, going into the appt., didn't think 6lbs in 3 weeks was such an accomplishment, but I guess so! At least I'm consistently losing at this point, I am happy for that. But of course, don't we all want it to go away faster? lol So, on to the NSV. I went to a local thrift store today in search of some lighter clothes for my trip to FL next week. To my surprise, I saw a Burberry peacoat on the rack and decided to give it a try, after thinking, nah, it will never fit. I've never fit into nice peacoats, ever...unless men's, and obviously very bulky and horrendous looking. To my surprise, it fit...even with my bulky sweatshirt on and to add to that, a Burberry coat for $6! Woo hoo Not to mention, I also purchased a few shirts and pants...which I NEVER find anything to fit me, or I just hated my body so much before that I wasn't excited about buying new clothes. Down from a 22 pant size to a snug 16 now and it feels so good
  16. I went shopping today as I am needing some smaller clothes!! I tried on a size 12 pants and they were too BIG!!. I like having this problem. I could not find a size 10 I liked so I did not get any today. I quess I will wear my too big and baggy pant to work tomorrow. NSV for me!!
  17. Starting weight: 243 Surgery weight: 228 (Sept 21, 2012) New Years Goal: 190 Todays weight: 191 Missed it by a pound but THRILLED at my progress, as we all should be. How awesome is it for all of us today? How many of us have had a New Year resolution to lose weight in the past? Now we KNOW we will lose it! How liberating!! All these diet commercials and finally, FINALLY, this year I KNOW I will lose weight!! This is an unexpected NSV. Starting the new year knowing the weight will come off. I just want to congratulate all of you for making this amazing decision to transform your life!! Happy New Year!!
  18. It is great to have these NSV but please be safe, lol...,happy New Year!

Finally Stopped Lying to the DMV

This is a big NSV I'm hoping for! I've been thinking about it for months. I have to renew my license on my birthday this year (March 7th) and I'm 22 pounds from the weight on there now. I want to be at that weight when I renew in a few months. I'm 6 months out and have slowed to an average of 10-11 lbs/month so I'm going to be cutting it close but I'm really hoping!
  20. I was sleeved on Dec 18th and have been incredibly lucky to not have any complications. I threw up my pain meds once in the hospital- not fun! But other than that no issues eating or drinking, other than I'm full really quick. For the most part I am getting 48-64 oz of water/G2 a day and about 60g of Protein a day. It does seem that I am ALWAYS thinking of eating and drinking and I hope that this becomes second nature eventually. Last week, a friend and I booked a trip to Botswana, which is country directly north of South Africa. (I wasn't quite sure where it was located prior to booking.) I'm very excited for this trip, except for the 16 hour direct flight. I'm PRAYING that I lose as close to 50 lbs as possible to make that flight bearable. We'll be on safari's and visiting a few cool places like Victoria Falls. This mission to lose has given me the motivation to hop on the treadmill at work tomorrow when my day is done. I have to say that I could never have kept my head up through this process without weight loss forums. Every time I get bummed out I hop on and seeing others succeed brings me such joy. Not to mention how wonderfully supportive people are. NSV: 1- Can fit in my favorite winter jacket again 2- My double chin is gone. (Come on belly....) 3- My feet are smaller 4- The jeans that I have lived in after surgery (super soft and stretchy) can be taken off without using the button or zipper.

    NSV

I can now wear a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in over 10 years!!! Is the amazing part that I've lost the weight? OR that I actually kept the jeans in the closet for that long?? lol
  22. I love the NSV better then the numbers on the scale. Keeps me motivated.

People can be cruel, even our on families. You must dig deep & go for what you know. My family doesn't know, only my husband so they eat whatever, whenever & wherever but I've grown accustomed to it. I've sorted all my life & I do recall early on it was hard but I conquered it. Good luck & perhaps they could be more considerate. As for this weight journey GET ER DONE! Me myself slow going but seeing progress. Already getting NSVs. Although the scale can no longer claim 22 POUNDS on my behalf! Lol I just realized that. BMI 37.4 & missing inches like crazy. And u can an actually see the difference in before & now pics. I am so motivated to be successful! I am looking forward to my after pic! APerfect10Again A.K.A. CJ May the good Lord bless you all! Lucky 13! 2013 is MY year!
