    Major Pain??

My port site hurt for about 3 weeks, and I thought thatI was going to be deformed cause it was so lumpy there. Now it is almost gone and the site rarely hurts now. Be patient and it will get better!
  2. Hi Goyachula, Dr. Kim had me on 2 weeks of liquids pryor to my surgery on the 30th, then one week of liquids post surgery. This week I started on pureed foods for 3 weeks. My follow up visit is this Friday. I think the healing and swelling has a lot to do with the lower appetitie at first. Since it takes 6 weeks to heal, we probably just have to eat sensibly and small quantities even with the appetite returning until they do a fill at 6 weeks. It will be interesting to know how your visit with Dr. Kim goes. Please keep us posted!
  3. Hello, i have a question. I know for certain procedures like lipo and tummy tuck (not that its the same) people are required to use slimming body suits after surgery. After i got banded the nurse told me not to use anything tight around the incisions but its been two weeks and i was wonderin if i could use a sliming suit (the ones they sell at the mall that make u slender) so my skin reacts better to the weightloss, any thoughts, suggestions or comments are appreciated.
  4. I'm four weeks out with rny. I'm still not hungry. It's a bit of an issue because I need to eat for some energy, but everything sounds horrible. It Wil get better. And I'm a third of my way to goal already. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

    Dinner

Tried to do a fancy dinner tonight to change things up alittle 4oz flounder, couple broccoli florets and half of a small potatoe baked in the oven with lemon juice salt and pepper, according to my fitness pal this totaled 156 calories, 8 grams carbs, 6 grams fat and 18 grams protein. The only problem was being only 3 weeks post op once I finished the flounder I was done. I guess my eyes are bigger then my stomach, literally.

    Massachusetts sleevers

Hi Congrats to you and hope you are feeling well after surgery. If you have facebook, you can look for Boston Bariatrics which has people from all over MA. There are threads on here as well. I live in Holden north of Worcester. I got sleeved on the 31st of Dec.. almost 6 weeks out. I feel back to myself. It gets better with time.

    No Bile Movement!

I was banded on a Tuesday and my Dr said if I had not had one by end of Friday I should take some Milk of Magnesia. I think it is really common, so not much to worry about, but I would double check with your surgeon. I want to say the glue stayed on the incisions for about a week, but not sure exactly.

    Hair Loss?

I lost a significant amount of hair. Biotin won't prevent it but could help once your hair is ready to regrow. My hair texture changed a lot as well. My nut says that hair follicles in the resting stage will shed around 4 months, which is exactly when it happened for me. I lost hair for about six weeks and now have curly hair. The Unfill

I just had the fluid taken out of my band today too. It is a bit scary, but I've set my mind to watching what I eat and working out. I plan on having a weight loss on my next visit in 2-3 weeks! WE CAN DO THIS!

    The Unfill

I never thought this would happen. It happened. Yesterday I almost fainted at work - left, was instructed by my doctor and was told to go to the ER - my pulse was out of this world and I was just ... ick. I was dehydrated. Explained that my band was probably too tight, I haven't been able to keep much down. My ER here locally couldn't help so they sent me about three hours away to Wichita Falls to a doctor there. First let me say: DR. WARNOCK YOU ROCK THE HOUSE! I loved this doctor and although he took all the Fluid out of my band, I loved this doctor and the whole experience. I have never felt more... encouraged... than I did when I met with him and left his office. So - no fill, just me and the band hanging out - he wants to see me again in about 4 weeks and we'll do an x-ray and such at that time to see if band placement is an issue or if we can begin filling my band again slowly. I feel good about this. Didn't think I would, but I do. So - here's the plan, I'll get up tomorrow, excercise with these fantastic new vibram five finger shoes and get to work with my feet on the ground, head held high and a reminder that I'm making this body my own... because it was mine (not the food's) all along!

    My LapBand blog and vlog!

What an awesome V-log! I think you did a great job of talking about your journey so far and very clever/amusing extras! I'm looking forward to next week. I'm getting banded on Jun 4. (And I'm excited, but nervous, so it's good to hear how someone else is doing just before me). All the best! Always Hunzi
  16. Wow, I am so sorry. I would be devistated if that happened. But lets look at the positives.....You've been doing a killer job on your pre-op diet - EXCELLENT JOB - this can only be in your favor. It may only be postponed for a few weeks, so hang in there...we are pulling for you!!! Heal well,,,,:rolleyes2:

    Anyone banded for 3+ years?

I had my band in January 2005. I still have approx. 40lbs to loose. After 9 fills and almost at the limit of my full capacity (this band of mine takes 11cc and I currently have 10cc) I still have to make a big effort in terms of self control and not overeating or making correct food choices. I've been learning that the band doesn't work by itself, it's not even a fair split of 50/50, it's up to me most of the effort in staying on the right track. Exercising and going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week has been very helpful. No pain, no gain, and most of all, no loosing weight! niki
  18. I'm waiting also my paper work was submitted to Inc on 5/25/12 it's been a week and I'm really having a hard time waiting, if I'm not busy it's on my mind, and when I call BCBSMICHIGAN they say they've not received any paperwork , I call the Doc office and they say they did. I'm not good at this waiting especially after 6 mo of visits.

will be banded on the 19th

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to get too nervous. For me, being prepared, and reading up on the surgery and what to expect helped a lot. I had laproscoptic gall bladder surgery awhile ago, and I didn't have any problems with the residual gas, so I was surprised when I kept reading about people having problems with it. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't have any real issues with the gas after my lap band surgery last week either. I was gassy and I felt bloated, but I didn't have shoulder pain or anything like that. I took a few Gas X pills after a day or two, but all in all, it wasn't even remotely painful. Maybe you'll be lucky too.

    Diet after the sleeve

I never had a clear phase but I did have 2 weeks of a liquid diet. Then soft/mushy for the next 10 weeks.

    Protein...

I was told 40 grams a day for the first 2 weeks after surgery - then 60 per day thereafter...
  23. Hi Pepper! I just had my medical clearance appointment Friday and all is good to go! They said it will take a couple weeks for everything to be submitted. Aghh! I can't wait. But my patient coordinator said the day they submit she wants me to start the pre op diet because it should be quick!
  24. Hey everyone, So Im so excited I got the call yesterday for the date. I got next week to visit with my surgeon to start my pre-op diet. I have read so much, I know no amount of prepping will really get me prepared but Im ready. I enjoy exercising.. I cant wait to get back to it. Have any of you took measurement before ? to compare. I used to scale everyday then switched to measurements when I didnt like the scale. Hoping I have over success and balance. Dr's office said my goal weight should be 168-170.. Im currently 250.. I already know I may lose alot of my women figure hoping I can preserve some with squats and in house exercising. My family is supporting me and ready for this just as much as I am. I have my husband and 3 children. Good luck to everyone, and keep up all your hard work.

    pre op weight loss

I had to do the two week liver shrink diet, which is basically Atkins. I decided to cut out all caffeine, carbonation and alcohol then since I couldn't have it after surgery anyways, it just made it easier for there to be three less things I usually had but could no longer have. Going sugar free was hard enough at first anyways lol.
