How much weight have you lost? I am down 66 pounds since February 19. How are you doing?
-
Last appointment is November 26th its gone by fast! Anyone else 2 months left or near 2 months left? I'm required to lose 20lbs by my surgeon and I've lost 15 so far. Was definitely not easy cause I hit a stall at only 10 lbs and tried uping my work out and that was a no go so I went on a mostly liquid diet. I've still got a while but I prefer to get things done and over as quick as possible lol. The only thing that's left is two nut classes which I think I'll be told to do next appointment. It's crazy to think that this year may be my last year to stuff my face at thanksgiving as hard core as everyone else.

I occasionally eat a small side of rice from Taco Bell. It’s a tiny portion and less than 140 cals. I eat with a half side of steak or some protein.. I never even finish the little portion... don’t feel bad as long as your portions are tiny. I get stuffed. My doc only told me to count calories not eliminated foods. 10 months out- down 106lbs...

Hi Gigi, sounds like you are doing great. I went in for my first fill about a week before I was scheduled to because I had no restriction and was having to exert much self control. That was about 10 days ago, now I am going back this week because I am not feeling it is right yet. I can't wait, it is hard, relying on will power. Thanks for getting in touch--doing this is so much easier with support. I am so glad I found this website--having this procedure was one of the best decisions of my life. Hope you are feeling the same way. Talk to you again-Aunt Em

Sleeve weight loss times?
Miss Mac replied to Llunker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My program materials say that 18 months is within the normal range of losing 60+% of what you are going to lose. However, at my nutrition visit yesterday it was mentioned that 10% a month is a reasonable goal to reach for. I was to to not be disappointed if it takes a year to lose 100 pounds Everybody is different. Compliance, circumstance, emotions, illness, plateaus, exercise results....lots of things factor in. -
The nurse said the same thing 2 weeks; I'm like are you sure? She said the most was 4 weeks;????????? I'm puzzled; my friend had bypass last year; at her 2 week mark she had to have gallbladder surgery; total 6 weeks out of work. I'm kind of worried because we are 10 days full liquids prior to surgery and 16 days after full liquids. ( 5 of those clear only) therefor the gallbladder has nothing to work for and can cause stones. They found 2 small stones at the bottom of my gallbladder ; hoping he takes it at the same time. I will know I guess the morning of : 7 more days. Whoooo hoop!

eating too much!!! what do I do to stop?
Foxbins replied to mindyloohoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
After I reach goal I plan on dropping more 10 lbs or so to give me a little 'bounce" room, so it's for the foreseeable future (at least another six -eight months or so). After I decide to maintain, I may have to tweak a bit to steady the scale, but I cannot see a day when I will eat until my stomach says "I'm full." I ate like that for thirty years and ended up obese. -
Help! Start My Pre Op Diet Tomorrow. Need Advice
betty_luna posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok I'm 19 years old and I am getting the sleeve done on the 29th and tomorrow I have to start my 14 days pre op diet. I am scared I don't know what to eat they basically >/= 50 grams of protein no more then 40 grams of fat and no more then 1000 calories a day. So I'm scared what if I don't make it'. Any advice. -
Try one ounce at a time. Sipped over 10 mins. This is how I'm to take all liquids during my liquid diet Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

5 weeks out....exercise now the new goal
jjmcrash218 replied to jjmcrash218's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have found tons of energy after losing around 30lbs. Actually energy to burn... I was content to sit still for the longest periods of time before surgery...now am not. My total weightloss with the sleeve should approach about 80 pounds (from roughly 258 to 178ish) and right now I am already at the midpoint of that loss (221 ( 37 lbs lost)). I am finding in my situation that as the weight comes off...it's almost like I can move better, and have a better center of balance....also my joints, my back etc all seem to funtion better.....am I 100% ...ready to run 3 miles? absolutley not... but a one mile walk now dosen't come with aches pains and loss of breath....I actually find it enjoyable. It really is baby steps to a life change... but you have to make that first step... Energy or not KC start with the smallest walk around the block... maybe 2 blocks tomorrow...stick on the headsets and go for a short stroll. I purchased a fitbit to make it more competative but today pedometers can start at as little as $10! A pedometer can get you to beat your step total every day up to the reccomended 10,000 steps a day.... good luck! oh and I am consuming around 800-1000 calories a day -
Oh dear... Please relax... Sleeved Dec. 19, 2016... Life will be better for you. I do got out to eat with my family. The only difference is that I do not order. I get to taste test everything from my family's plate. Lol I take a small puzzle book or note pad with me and I am the game leader while they eat. You just have to find a normal for you. Be creative.

5 weeks out....exercise now the new goal
Swampdoggie replied to jjmcrash218's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you! Its awesome to feel so great, yeah? I was sleeved on Jan 19 and I haven't started real exercise yet because I have Lyme disease and am waiting to get my IV line out. Which may be on Friday, after 6 long months. But I feel ready to work out now where I haven't before so it must be about the right time. I hope I'll feel as good as you clearly do. Keep up the good work! -
No problem! I truly believe that working together helps make this journey easier! I have been sleeved since 8/01/2014. I was not really afraid of the surgery its self because I believed without it I would have died at an early age. Now, at the very least, I have the chance to become my healthiest self!

Hi. We should exchange email address so we can keep up with each others progress. Mine is sheila.pinkney@shaw.ca Luckily I do not have to do any pre-op dieting like the liquid diet. I have been doing nothing but pre-op dieting since November 30 and I have lost more than the required 10% and I am still following the 1 cup of food 3 times a day. Although I do cheat now and then. My surgeon said that changing to this diet from the very beginning helps to train you to prepare for life post surgery. Anyway, hang in there, our day will be here before we know it. Sheila

The one thing I've noticed (and I'm a newbie post -op but...) Is since the mandatory full liquid diets I've been on (we have 2 trial runs and then the BIG pre-op liquid diet one for 14 days before surgery) I now look at everything and check fruits and other things in my calorie king book (I did find another one that has protein in it) my kid put 2 bananas in her smoothie, that was 60 carbs! Her "healthy" smoothie was 450+ calories (bananas!) Like 80 carbs barely any fiber and 10 protein. I wasn't lecturing, because awhile back that would seem good to me. In 3 days I (FINALLY!!) start my blended diet. My protein requirement is 70 grams minimum. It's ok, I can get 55-65 on full liquids now 9 days pre-op. 64 oz liquid. 1 c fruits, 1 c veggies, startch. It seems daunting. At 8 weeks post-op I will be going to a wedding. I'll be damned if I don't have a bite of cake. I wish I could have a glass of wine, but I think it's too early. oh and cheat days...did you do them before? I did. I went to My weight watchers meeting on Saturdays, then I would go through McDonald's drive through right after (I did only get a happy meal for my cheat) THEN i shopped for healthy food. But I would fall off the wagon hard and would not get back on until I gain the weight back plus more. I am basically paying $14000 out of pocket for this, I'm sick of wasting money this will work, get support, or find it here. I weighed 302 at highest. My last weigh in before surgery was 292.9,(4/2/18) surgery was 4/17/18 my current weight TODAY is 272.2 - 20.7 pounds lost in 24 days. I'm glad I've made the choice.

Blue cross blue shield federal basic (live in tx)
longhornmom replied to creed2474's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have the exact same insurance as you (BC/BS federal Basic) and I also live in Texas. I was told that our insurance is a "quick approval" if you have a BMI over 40 or have comobities. I was just at 40 BMI and my doctor's office submitted my paperwork and within 10 days I was approved. I had my surgery almost two weeks later. My doctor required me to do a iquid type diet the 12 days before my surgery to shrink my liver but that was it. Good luck! -
I'm Officially Post-Op
alicesandra replied to El_Cid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats & good luck! 10 days post op for me. Make sure you rest as much as your body tells you too! -
n2theswim, I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! First off, there is NO "only" in weight loss. 28 pounds in 3 months is fantastic!! How much would you have lost without surgery? I know that all you can see is how much you have left to lose, but you didn't gain it all in one pass and you won't lose it all in one pass. I've had several stalls on this journey, but I've managed to work my way past them. I've also discovered that during stalls I lose sizes rather than pounds. It's like the body takes a break from dropping pounds in order to shape shift. Take your measurements now, if you didn't do it pre-op, and then use them as a guideline to show you that you are still losing, even if the scale isn't moving. I've been shapeshifting for the last 3 months and lost 3 sizes, but barely dropped 10 pounds in that same time frame. Are you exercising? Exercise is key to keeping the weight loss steady and to helping insure that we don't end up with lots of loose skin when we're done losing. Exercise also produces endorphins that help keep us positive and help balance out the crazy hormones that seem to be released for men and women when the fat cells start shrinking. Please don't give up on yourself. This journey is SO worth it and YOU are worth every bit of effort you put into yourself!

Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
citygirl4616 replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My DH only knows what I weighed on our wedding day (which is currently my goal weight). He has never asked, and it never came up in conversation. Now, as I am losing weight, he asks how much I have lost, and what is my goal. I think he would be *shocked* if he knew the actual number. Especially since, at my highest, I was 30 pounds heavier than him (and I am 10 inches shorter!). Now, thinking about it, it is so odd that I have been ashamed to tell him my weight. After all, we have been married 15 years, he has seen me naked, he has watched me give birth to two children....my weight is just a dumb number on a scale! Interesting...... -
Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
Brandy~ replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told my signifigant other how much I weighed once I hit 50# lost. It wasn't a biggie. Now I jump on the scale with him there all the time to show him haha. It's fun now he is trying to lose a couple pounds. He only weighs 185 and is 5 ' 10" haha. -
I had a relatively low BMI I have a lapband because I didn't want to remove a body part. Now almost 10 months later I hate the lap band. (food getting stuck, not being able to eat chicken, meat....having to chew my food to a pulp) But I did lose weight! I am doing a revision to a sleeve. It is a hard choice. Best of luck on your decision! D.
