I'm 3 months out and didn't do the sugar free thing, I don't mind stevia it doesn't bother my stomach so I like oikos triple zero yogurt and Water flavor drops at target that list stevia and fruit juice as ingredients. It's hard but I don't necessarily think sugar free is all that great, Whole Foods are much better you just have to watch portions and make sure you don't over do it and sabotage your weight loss. Healthy is where it's at, not chemicals. Oh and I forgot to add, hot chocolate really helped me with water I have 1 packet of Swiss miss milk chocolate and add a little fair life milk. Also Popsicles!!!! Omg I ate them all the time after surgery when I was in full liquids. -

Yogurt, cottage cheese, homemade soup broth, once you get to puréed stage you can eat any meat and veggies just purée in your blender. Ricotta bake is a popular recipe also. -
My surgery is at 7:30 am on Tuesday, October 17th. I have been on a liquid diet since Friday and have been miserable since. I can have sf jello, sf popsicles, sf powerade, broth and water- I drink approximately 80+ oz/day. I have been getting dizzy throughout the day and it makes work almost unbearable. Should I get a low fat greek yogurt or something of substance?? I feel like I'm going to pass out at times.

I'm on day 6 post op. Not sure exactly what it is. I'm sure I over did it I felt so good and probably did not rest as much as I should have but today it felt like heartburn (bad) I can't keep crushing Pepcid so I got chewable and they helped but still hurts so not sure what I'm feeling. Wonder if I ate to much. I may have drank my broth to fast do I took in to much? Or maybe half a yogurt was to much? I'm not sure how to tell. Glad I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow I'm a little nervous.

I'm sure no expert at only 6 days out myself but my Dr said be careful not to gulp water, very small sips or you would get chest/ back pain. It could also be acid reflux. I heard this surgery is notorious for that. My Dr allows you during this phase to have tomato juice (heaven!!) or V8. Can you do yogurt? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Some background first..... I had my first fill last Thursday. I was on liquids for 2 days -- did good on that -- and then gingerly started to eat normal. Well, as close to normal as you can. :rolleyes Today I made me a yogurt smoothie for Breakfast and thought I would make me a small ham sandwich for lunch with some salad. A lunch I have had in the last couple of weeks with no problems. So I took a small bite of the sandwich -- bread and all -- and oh boy! :help: It hurt so bad!!!! I even chewed it for a long time.:guess I sat there for a bit, trying to figure out where I went wrong. I drank all my Water first, it was a small sandwich, good protien in the ham......ah ha! It had to be the bread. So after the horrible feeling went away, I tried just a small piece of the ham, no bread (hey! I was still hungry! ) and everything went down ok. So I finished my ham slice -- still ok but I made sure I chewed, chewed, chewed! Slowly at about half of my small salad -- still everything ok, but I was so full!:speechles But at least I didn't feel like someone was running a bottle brush up and down my esophagus and wanting to throw up. So it had to be the bread. I guess it's true that things really change after your first fill. I haven't had any problems with any food since surgery, but now......I really have to watch what I eat.

Protien shake replacements
mylighthouse replied to avremy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss! As far as a shake alternative, have you tried an unflavored protein powder? I have used Unjury and Isopure, and they are really a great alternative to shakes, because you can mix them into drinks and/or foods such as yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. The powder mixes well into Crystal Light, Powerade Zero, or, my favorite, decaf iced tea. I like the fact that it will help me get my protein up to 90-100 grams a day, which has been the magic number for me dropping the weight over the last few weeks. You might want to give it a try. -
5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
samuelsmom replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When healing it is important to think long and hard about what you eat. O full liquids, greek yogurt is included so that is fine. Once you get past that, things get a little dicey. You will find that surgeons do the post op eating plans a little different because there is no proven "right" way to do it. That being said there are a few things that are constant MOST of the time- the first week after surgery usually ranges between liquids and a very soft consistency (like a scrambled egg) depending on the surgeon. Progress from one stage to another is slow and as tolerated with the understanding that we all heal at different rates. I have not heard of one plan that allows bacon in the first week! I would highly recommend talking with the nutritionist and the surgeon. I would also highly recommend not eating bacon so soon post-op. It is an unnecessary risk. -

This may be booming late in the day, but why not just find some protein shake that you like? I really don't mind the Premier Protein, there are other types/brands. You could also find some Pacific Coast Bone Broth, that has 14 grams of protein per serving. The yogurt is prolly premature, but try kefir. Creamy soups? I hear your frustration, though. I chewed up a piece of pepperoni and spit it out in the sink on day 8. -
I haven't been able to get the vitamins yet
Berry78 replied to MamaOfFive's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You need protein. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, beans, peanut butter, meat, fish, tofu, etc. Any vitamins is better than none. Flintstones chewable complete (you need the iron) or the like. If money is an issue and you are in the US, go to social services and apply for assistance. -
Kinda scared..problems with sleeve
Kindle replied to ZombieQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You definitely sound dehydrated and undernourished. Have you tried Syntrax nectar Protein? They are like koolaid so they may not fill you up as much as the milk-based shakes do. They come in variety of flavors. 2 scoops in 32 oz Water would give you 40g protein you could sip on all day. Add in a couple cups of decaf herbal tea (warm liquids went down better for me), another couple cups of water and you've got your fluids in. Try adding unflavored Protein powder to some Soups. They may not fill you up like dense Proteins do, so you can get more in. Plain Greek yogurt flavored with vanilla protein powder would give you a big protein boost, too. I had to sip all day long from the moment I Woke up till the minute I went to bed. I never didn't have a water bottle in my hand and I rarely ate/drank anything that didn't contain protein. And I did not go to bed until I got my 64 oz and 60+g. You have to make these a priority. They are WAY more important than excercise at this point. -
Too Much? 6 days post op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to NoMoreWeightNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is your protein goal? When I was on clear and full liquids I didn't go to bed until I finished all my protein for the day. If you are short of your goal by all means have another shake or yogurt. Do what it takes to meet your goal. -

If you can't find soft foods you like you can also still use liquid supplements to get your Protein. You don't have to default to noodles and other carbs. When I was on soft foods I lived on yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans, soup, pudding, eggs, and Protein shakes. The second week of soft foods I was allowed soft fish so I added tuna, tilapia, and salmon to the mix. Each phase builds on the previous phases so you can continuously add foods to your options. -

@@debd80 at 11 days i was only drinking liquids, broth etc (per my NUT) Protein Shakes obviously help satisfy the need for protein they are/can be filling your new little tummy is less than 2 weeks old it just had major surgery, tummy is hurting and a little angry at you for messing with it LOL most NUTS have different rules per their programs I was on a mushy/puree foods for a few weeks then soft phase (yogurt, cottage cheese etc) FINALLY solids you are allowed solids at 11 days!!! in my case at that early time, no way would i eat 2 or 4 oz but that's just my case per my NUT "Maybe I'm doing this wrong..." i would talk to your NUT maybe you misunderstood about your eating plan?? just saying.... at 11 days, if there is a problem with your eating you should be able to fix it, learn from your NUT (unless this is what your NUT prescribed!!) good luck kathy -

Daily Calorie Intake losing weight? Input please!
suzqlvq replied to suzqlvq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During the week I usually eat yogurt or 100 calorie oatmeal for breakfast, a protien shake is the first thing I have every morning. Lunch consists of 45 calorie bread (1 pc) and 3-4 oz of shaved deli meat. For dinner I usually have a pc of fish and later I snack on beef jerky. Some days I eat a protein bar before I head off to the gym. This could be my so called "stall". I am happy with the results but wish I could lose 2-3 pounds weekly. -
If you're talking a vaginal yeast infection and you don't want to mess with creams, you can ask your doc for a pill called Diflucan. Just one pill and it clears it up. If you're having repeated infections, I'd try upping your probiotic intake with yogurt, kefir, fermented foods or supplements.

Why do I feel Hungry all the time
FrankyG replied to Kisha42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my. Just like Babbs said, you're eating too many carbs so of course you'll be feeling hungry. Carbs cause carb cravings and not eating protein is going to make it even worse. Protein is absolutely the first thing you eat and should be the large portion of any meal for the rest of your life. It doesn't matter if you aren't eating sugar. Simple carbs like potatoes or grits act just like sugar in your body and the more you eat them, the more you'll want to eat them. And not eating enough protein will really screw you up - your body will start burning muscle instead of fat, your skin and hair will suffer and the fatigue will get worse... not eating your protein is just all around super bad. chicken, fish, beef, low carb yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheeses, high protein/low carb milk (like Fairlife or Mootopia), Beans (refried are awesome with a bit of cheese and/or sour cream)... there are so many things you could be eating that are way better for you. Your sleeve isn't the issue; it isn't the problem - your food choices are. Please do the reading and research on here for good protein meals and recipes, as you are heading down the wrong road right now, but you can turn this around if you're willing to try. Good luck!! -
question on eating steak
HeatherO replied to kgranite79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ohh, and one more thought. If you are going to try steak for the first time, it helps to have a little something with it such as steak sauce, mushroom sauce, gravy, yogurt (if you like mediterranean cuisine) or something similar. It improves the moisture content and makes it go down really easy. -
16 lbs gone onto pureed foods. who knew I'd be so happy to eat yogurt and cottage cheese? went out and bought some baby spoons. don't know how ill feel after 2 weeks, but im so excited now.
