Just an opinion here but it sounds to me like you lack self confidence. I think most here would tell you the same story. A story about how they've lost and regained and lost and regained. That is why we're doing this, right? You have to decide that the BS stops now....and grab the reigns. We are at war with own bodies. It helps if you have a supporter...someone to confide in push you when you need it. The fact that you are doing this means you recognize that you need this tool in order to be successful. Just follow the plan and exercise. The weight will come off and you'll be eating in moderation. WE got this!!

Hi ladies! I third the breast lift thing...but I'm actually moving forward with that now. Friday I have a plastics consultation I'm pretty excited about. I'm a 36G now and it's a terrible sight bc mine are pure tissue so they just hang lower and give me horrid back pain. Praying for lift and reduction. I'll fill everyone in on how that goes. Then after a year mark I'll be talking about a tummy tuck. Time is moving fast. 25 lbs away from goal of 150!

I had my VSG June 2013. My highest recorded weight was 245 lbs. Height: 4,11" I'm pleased with my progress so far. I've been maintaining my weight for nearly a year now. I've adopted a lifestyle that I never thought I would. I eat clean & I'm in love with the gym. I workout most days of the week- focusing on weight training. Although I've seen myself pack on a nice bit of muscle, I'm not where I want to be. I'm very interested in hiring a coach to help with my diet plan & training routine. I'm a little nervous about that bc I'll have to explain this surgery to him. I know a lot of people in the fitness industry have a very negative view of ppl who've had wls (such a shame). Anyway, I'm just struggling to be the best physical version on myself. Skin? ... Most of that little belly you see below is skin. I just kind of tuck it away. I'm wanting a tummy tuck so bad! I just wish it were out the way! lol. I have to wear compressions when exercising. I'm looking forward to when I don't have to... And maybe I can even see a little muscle definition? (Also some looseness under my arms & inner thighs) If anyone wants to follow on IG (it's mostly gym selfies & food pics), tell me your name so I can follow back! I am MISTY_MARIE87

Anyone else have a SW OF 280 lbs and want to share their success story?
jerseygrl6289 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi everybody! I'm currently in the hospital and looking for some encouraging success stories for people who started in the 280s. Would love some eating and working out advice. Also what were you able to lose each month?I love this site bc it has been an extreme encouragement during this whole process! Thanks guys!! ???? -
It's really hard if they pick the wrong restaurant. I can't eat a whole cheese burger. I can eat a lot of salad. Someone else also said salad is a good choice if you're cleared by your doc to eat raw veggies. I always say something like "I've had this stomach bug and I am over it now but I still don't feel like eating much." I have had guys get sort of mad if they buy me dinner and I can't eat it. I try to steer them towards a place where I know there is something on the menu that will work for me. I don't usually wait too long before I tell because it's hard to get around if they keep trying to feed us. If they are worth having as a potential partner, they won't care. Every single guy I've told has said they are glad I got it bc they wouldn't date an overweight woman. between band and sleeve, I have been dealing with this issue for about 9 years.

@@ccol625 My mother said the exact same thing ! I too am a single mother with a child who is actually scheduled 4/1 and every time we talk about anything that has to do w the surgery I get the lecture about " You know I don't approve of this and if you put your mind to it, you can lose the weight" BS ! I am right there with you so DO NOT let her put a damper on the best decision you will ever make! I wish you the best of luck!

Period. Please read and shed some light
TiffanyMarie replied to TiffanyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh, I wasn't told that regarding bc pills. Well, I guess it's a good thing I haven't taken them. I will ask for a blood test on Thursday just to be on the safe side. I will keep you posted. I don't know how to add you as a friend on here so if you know add me. I'd love to keep in touch with you. -
Period. Please read and shed some light
TiffanyMarie replied to TiffanyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@freshair Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post! Today, I am still spotting. I made an appointment to see my primary care physician on this Thursday afternoon. She said we need to do a pap smear and take a look into my hormone levels. Just like you said, she thinks with all the weight loss thus far my hormones are going crazy. I plan on taking another pregnancy test tomorrow morning. I remember the surgeon saying I would become more fertile and it's not recommended to become pregnant until at least a year after surgery. One of the reasons I had the surgery is because I do want a family. I have read so many stories about women who have had PCOS and then had the surgery, which led them to become pregnant. I was originally put on Ministrin, which is a bc pill. I do not want to have to take another pill and therefore, haven't taken it since I had the surgery. I know it's not smart AT ALL. I will be talking to the doctor on Thursday and ask about the patch or the depo. When you were on the depo did you gain weight? -
Unjury has a chicken soup protein. It helped me as it was a clear liquid, has 23 g protein and preop it satisfied my hunger bc it's warm. I also like Genepro unflavored protein powder to mix in Gatorade, juice or flavored water.

@@scoutmom, I have empire BC/BS. Same thing happened to me. They said I should have no problem getting approved and then my sleep study came back with some abnormalities but not obstructive sleep apnea so there went my major co morbidity. When I went to my NUT visit in feb I had gained almost 10lbs due to many good funerals. My NUT told me I had to lose weight if I wanted the insurance to approve. So when I went in March I lost 6lbs and was so proud of myself since I was on vacation the week before. They told me not to worry and all would be good. When I went for the pre op appt with the surgeon he was the first to scare me that I was in the "gray" zone being that my BMI wasn't over 40 and I had medical issues but nothing the insurance company considered major. So here I am waiting to see what the appeals process does. Sucks since I like to know what I am doing. It is killing me being in limbo. Ugh -
The Waiting is driving me CRAZY!
Kelgirl74 replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG!!!! My stuff was submitted on Feb. 19th. I have not heard anything yet and it is driving me crazy. The only thing I have left to do is my EGD and the surgery itself. I am so ready!!! Maybe I will call BC/BS tomorrow because this waiting is painful. -
Surgery date was 3-12-2014
sweetxpetunia replied to toni1960's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sweet4422- the one year mark can be tough! Don't get discouraged though! I am one year out on March 12th and 130 lbs down and if I am really honest I don't get much official exercise, but I stay active, and busy. Make sure you are drinking a lot of liquids- we forget how important irrigation is to the weight loss process, but remember the early days when you were often thirsty and it was a necessity to drink. Up your liquid intake and also, consider lightening your meals- not in portion size but in substance. Like I actively avoid all sugars, I eat foods that I know are supposed to increase metabolism (bc that was a huge problem for me before) and I eat carbs but I'm picky about it, and to be truthful I never really went back to Pasta or rice or noodles or bread. I will eat sesame breadsticks, or goldfish crackers (which are salty but a treat) or whole grain brown rice- and those are eaten once in a while. I allow for some carbs in my diet, but I prefer healthy carbs like red kidney Beans over my salad that count as a complex carb-meaning they have Protein and carbs giving you twice as much energy. Lately, and sorry for the over-share, I noticed that I get a huge chocolate/sugar craving. Well I use sugarless torani syrups and made my own chocolate at home. The other night I wanted to make a crock pot meal and the original recipe called for a packet of onion Soup mix-which is loaded with sodium. Also, beef granules which are again packed with sodium! I decided instead to make a home made salt-free version of the onion soup package, with just as much flavor, and opted instead for sodium free granule packets- the meal came delicious! I still added salt, but this way I controlled totally the amount of salt in the dish! I know it's hard, but little stuff^^ like that really helps! I work full time and go to school full time for my masters, I fell into the dangerous pool of takeout one too many times, so on Weekends I cook and make a healthy meal I can nibble on all week-roast chicken, crock pot steaks/stews (these chewier, more sinewy meats are easier for me to consume when they've been sitting in a crock pot all day), roasted vegetables, etc. Please message me if you have any questions and best of luck on your journey~ ! -
I think you look great and that's not bs. Cute suit too. Now I'm tempted to go find one without a skirt.

@@bikrchk, thank you for your response. I started this process in Dec and was told the co-morbidities I have were enough, but when my dr's office submitted the documents to my insurance BC/BS they denied the surgery. Granted I have spoken to the insurance company and they have the incorrect BMI so hopefully that will help my case. I had just been wondering since I am so close to having a BMI of 40, will the insurance company say I need additional NUT visits if I gain weight? This process sucks because you seem to be damned if you do and damned if you don't. -
Surgery is tomorrow... And of course I start my period today! Gah! I asked my Dr at my 2 week pre op bc I was afraid this would happen. He said surgery will go on and it's not uncommon for women to start because of the nerves/etc. I'm just nervous because my periods are pretty heavy and I want to be able to get up to clean up/change pads/etc. Anyone else been in this boat?

I received the call from BC/BS that my procedure was denied due to my BMI being too low. They have my BMI as 36.6, however when I calculate I get 38.73, so I think they have the incorrect weight and height from my doctors office. Although, I have some co-morbidities, I don't have any MAJOR ones so they say I'm not a candidate. I told them so if I gain 6 lbs and have a BMI of 40, I would be approved and they said yes. Well guess what I plan on doing? My doctors office said they will appeal and if the written appeal gets denied, then they will ask for a peer to peer meeting. I am scheduled for the sleeve on 3/31 so I am hoping the news will change before then or else I will be eating everything in site so I can gain 6 lbs and have a higher BMI. It really SUCKS that I have to gain weight to get approved. Anyone have any advice on how to get approved without gaining weight?

Question for the slow losers
chunkyloverlovesyou replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, as long as I'm measuring my body fat percentage on the same scale every time and see it trending downward, what does it matter how accurate it is? And thanks for making me feel like sh**, btw. Sorry didn't mean to offend, I was aiming at the nutritionist, not at your progress (you are doing great, just keep at it)..I just don't buy into their supplements BS, got the money-hungry vibe from them. They will operate on anyone with cash in hand -
they look amazing!! have you heard/looked into the tape hair extensions? my hair loss has slowed down but i dont want clip ons...they pulled on my hair too much and felt too heavy (maybe bc they were cheap, not sure)

When Does the Discomfort Stop
geekguy replied to livingstone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there. I am 2 weeks out and sleeping comfortably, but I would say that I am taking 500mg Tylenol gelcaps twice a day to help with soreness. I take it first thing in the morning and right before bed. Also, and I am still testing this out, I am thinking that more movement is helping the soreness work itself out. I work at a desk, and it feels like my stitches are trying to tighten up, so I am going to work on increasing my workouts more (an hour on the treadmill) bc that really seemed to do the trick and stretch them back out. Otherwise, I find myself starting to really have bad posture and slump over. This whole thing is highly individualized and a lot of trial and error, but that's what I've found out thus far. Hope this find you well. -

I have a similiar situation except mine is sjograns an other diseases that causes the esophagas muscles are very dry can be rigid or lax an so i have to take sips also to get meat down. Which it doesnt matter if i chew 50 x or 100 x a bite i still have to sip. Surgeon mentioned to me to do what i have to do. Bc my situation isnt going to improve. Im 8 months out an doing great. I eat slow small bites an i do well to get 4 or 5 down but i eat protein rich small meals thru out an so far so good.

I had eggs on day 5. My doc has you on purée before you leave the hospital. Some days I feel like I'll vomit if I have another bite of eggs but they are a protein lifesaver. Stick with the whites or don't eat real eggs every day Bc of the cholesterol and fat contents (according to my NUT).

I don't know what to do! Help please
goregalore replied to AWD12368's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my two cents: I had the lap band in 2010, lost about 30 lbs and started having complications. Went for two years for fill after fill after unfill until finally I was fed up with never hitting "the spot". I've had my band completely unfilled for two years and still cannot eat dense Proteins or raw veggies. After researching revision surgeries last summer, I had my heart set on a VSG until I did a few tests and my surgeon found that my esophagus was weakened due to the band, so he recommends bypass, which I'll be getting this month. -
Low grade fever
starbuckscoffeegal replied to starbuckscoffeegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spoke to my dr and told him my fever fluctuates to 99.9-100.5. He said bc I have a cough it's probably just a cold. And to just keep an eye on things.... If I get worse or have any symptoms that are in my discharge papers then to reach out. But I go for my follow up appt on Tuesday. Meanwhile I'm just trying to get my fluid in, not worrying about the protein as much. Yesterday I had one shake and about 20 oz of water. So I know I'm losing weight. But I wonder if once I feel better will I gain a little of the weight back?
