    I hate my neck

Now I'm off to research this treatment and see where its offered in my area! (Man, losing weight hurts the wallet! New clothes, shoes, makeup products, plastic surgery, facial/skin treatments...yikes.)

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Happy Friday Eve Everyone, Day 4 of the Liquid Diet I made it through another day of Protein shakes and water😞 I would love to get a hold of some chicken or beef broth....Wait I wouldn't turn down veggie broth either.............. But I can't have that until Sunday (Clear Diet day)... I've been checking out a few websites like Amazon and here on Bariatric Pal, for food items geared for special folks like us. I will probably make a purchase of some of the soup items, so I can have some variety after the next few weeks. I have noticed that my sandals are a bit loose from last year. I guess with will power and determination, the whole WLS thing will come together. And then I can submit my before and after pictures like everyone else. Anywho............Keep the faith everyone.....We CAN and WILL do this JuneBunch btw, I got on the scale today and I am finally at (drumroll.........) 219😲 Alright, I know it may not in Onederland, but I will take it. Even though the doctor's scales have a 5-10 pound variance, I will take the 219. Ain't seen 219 since 2008. ☺️ Come on June 3rd.

    I hate my neck

I'll see your Scrawny Neck bet and raise you emaciated old lady forearms, they are do thin they look l8je a skeleton with a thin layer of easy- bruis3 skin. And I am now bruising in areas I swear i I never bumped. Old age, no fat layer anymore or is my blood chemistry skewed? Know I was already an Iron INFUSION in March, wonder if this will be a quarterly event? If so, shouldnt somebody be ordering me a blood lab? We reach June the end 9f this week, and I think my Bariatric Clinic is beginning to neglect me, no visit scheduled until August , when I will be 11 months past Surgery.vMaybe since I'm this far out I am no longer interesting? Lets take care,of the New Surgeries, let Frustr8,swing in the breeze somewhere, kinda feel like I've been hung and nobody wants to cut down my body! I am nearly down to Onderland, And the only people, interested are,my Peeps on Bariatric Pal. Am I right to feel slightly neglected?
  4. PWMDMD, I'm late to the thread, but yes, everything you said in your original OP! I'm 6ft 3in and 225 lb, and was in that same awkward boat where my bariatric nutrition didn't know what to do with me. They were wanting me to eat about 1500 calories a day for maintenance, and that was just not going to happen as I could not stop losing weight at those calories. Once I got down to about 220, I was trying to GAIN weight (muscle), and they just could not comprehend a post-weight loss surgery patient wanting to GAIN weight. In fairness, they deal with mostly women who have no interest in gaining muscle, and also a majority of their patients never actually hit their weight-loss target, so never get out of "weight loss" mode. At the same time, when I was talking to trainers at my gym, they were recommending I eat like 4000 calories a day to gain muscle, and that also wasn't happening with me just because of physical limitations of my sleeved stomach. What I ended up having to do, it's just a whole lot of trial-and-error myself. I found that I maintain weight at about 2800 calories a day. I did end up putting on about 5 lb of muscle weight, but it took me almost 7 months to do that while eating about 3200- 3300 calories per day and 160-180g of protein/day. It was slooooow going. I was not a weightlifter prior to bariatric surgery, but got into it big time about six months after the sleeve. I lift weights 6 days per week, and have gone through a few different programs at this point. My lifts went up quickly over the first 9 months or so, and then progress came much slower, which is normal for someone first getting into weightlifting I suppose. I haven't been able to lift in about 4 weeks because I had plastic surgery to remove loose skin. Surgeon says no weight lifting until 8 weeks post plastic surgery. When I left off, my one rep max was bench-205, squat-320, deadlift-315. My bench has always lagged significantly behind my squat and deadlift. But yeah, it seems to be a very limited number of people in our boat who are post bariatric surgery, but trying to get into bodybuilding / weightlifting. The bariatric offices don't seem to know what to do with us, and neither do the traditional trainers / nutritionist who have never worked with bariatric patients.

    Iron vitamins

I have tried many different multivitamins with iron and just iron vitamins and they all cause me really bad stomach cramps and then I have to run to the bathroom . I am still borderline anemic and frustrated with what to do. The patches I tried the patched once but they caused a bad skin irriation. I eat foods high in iron and stiAcross the counter non bariatric vitamins with iron I can take but they don't have as much iron as bariatric ones. I have been told bariatric is better and absorbs better. Suggestions???

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

7.72lbs of skin was removed. Oddly enough, I'm only like 3lbs down from my pre-surgery weight, likely due to the swelling that takes 6-8 weeks to fully subside from this kind of surgery. I thought it was funny that the day before surgery to the day after surgery, I was UP almost 11lbs despite having 7.72lbs removed lol. The swelling is real, but I go more by what I see in the mirror vs. what I see on the scale now days.

Great question... I've been curious how much that excess skin weighs as well.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Great job. I’m a little over three years out and have lost 190 lbs. I have not had the skin removal surgery and I may not need it. How much actual weight did you lose from the skin removal surgery? Im still debating the surgery.
  10. BlueCrush

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

I had no impact at all to my tattoos, as I did not have to get skin removed from my arms. I credit that to all the weightlifting I did over the past year filling out my arms to the point where I did not need surgery on them. The only places I had to get skin removed were my chest, abdomen, and lower back ( think like the place where women get "tramp stamp" tattoos).
  11. You look beautiful.. your skin is amazing! Congratulations and you should be so darn proud. Very inspirational 😊

WAIT WHAT NO CALORIE SALAD DRESSING!

No but I am Flushed for success, just send my mail to the Porcelain Throne Room, spend a lot of time there, but what I pass is light yellow, found out people do better on Fluid Drive. Now if I could get rid of the Weight Loss wrinkles in my face, when the puffy cheeks departed my facial skin got rather confused so it's hanging there hoping in vain that my chipmunk cheeks come back. Maybe I will put money in the jar for a face lift and tightening. The panni and thighs may have to wait!

WOW! Congrats! I started around 420-430... Had surgery in August 2018 and I've been stuck at 280 for several months now. What did you do for exercise/diet that helped you get so low? I really want to get down to at least 250 this year. Also, I also have some ink on my upper arms... did getting rid of your excess skin impact that? Were they able re retain the art?

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    28. 22 push-ups completed. I was trying to think if I had confided in anyone yesterday...the best I could come up with was my future yoga instructor - my goal this fall is to train to be a yoga instructor. We met yesterday and talked about the program and I shared my hopes and concerns. 29. 23 push-ups completed. Well, my job is centered on helping people in need so it is something I hope I do at least five days a week. B-side: I don't really have a goal weight - I suppose my fantasy would be to get back to 130 where I was in high school. I think it would be more realistic to expect a higher number....I made it to 170 once before but I think 150 would be nice. Basically, I'm aiming to go as far as I can go and then maintain that. I haven't really thought about the number so much as wanting to be as healthy as possible and not sure how everything will look with excess skin and whatnot.
  16. Hey Stardust, it works, it works! What is your BMI down to now? Dug out my older paperwork, see I NEVER seem to throw things away- BMI 52,6 at first encounter with my surgeon's Head Nurse Practitioner Valerien I think she does all his intakes, almost exactly to the day 1 year ago. Proud to boast it is now 31.1 or it was last Saturday the 25th. Do you KNoW what this means? 30 is the boundary between Obese and merely Overweight! Oh I AM NOT STOPPING- I have gone through peaks, valleys and bumps on my Weight Loss Pathway, even a couple quagmires. Come too G.D. far to ever consider regressing, and so I never shall! I no longer need a wide angle for my "selfies" just a normal gauge 📷 camera. I wish areas of my skin would tighten up, but after being stretched So Longn there is no SnapBack, loop it off or its just gonna hang there. I have on my Very First Jegging, oh I am still,a little bulgy, but IDC, I DON'T CARE, it still is a triumph for ME! Nobody realizes how envious I was of everyone else who Could wear Jeggings before. I would go to Wal-Mart, go to the appropriate department and sniffle💦a lot, because it JUST WASN'T FAIR,just because I was BIG it shouldn't mean I was invisible. I knew , like the Velveteen Rabbit, I was "real".

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Almost 2 years to the day separate these photos. Me at 406lbs on Memorial Day 2017 in the pic to the left. I started my diet and exercise journey the day after Memorial Day 2017. I lost 88lbs through diet and exercise, then had VSG surgery on 12/11/17 and got down to 220lbs by August 2018. I added 5lbs back in muscle with my weight lifting routine, and just had skin removal surgery on 5/2/19. Currently sitting at 225lbs on the pic to the right. Still a bit swollen and healing from the skin removal surgery. Guy's over 400lbs, IF I CAN DO THIS, SO CAN YOU!!!

    Male Before and After Pictures

Three pics: The day before VSG (already down 88lbs from my high weight of 406lbs At my goal weight of 225lbs, with all the loose skin 2 weeks after plastic surgery to remove the loose skin. Still at 225lbs. Still a little swollen from surgery.
  19. BlueCrush

    Male Plastics

I went through with male plastics - the procedures are listed above in a previous post. The only changes are that I added a fleur de lis incision up the midsection to get rid of as much skin as possible. I also didn't need abdominal muscle repair, per the surgeon, due to building strong ab muscles with my free-weight lifting routine for the past year or so. Posting as I know from experience that it's hard as hell to get before and afters of male post weight loss plastic surgery patients.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

My Dr. put me on acid reflux medication for two months. Maybe you can call and have them do another refill. This will give you a chance to loose more weight and hopefully alleviate any weight related reflux. I'm in the same boat with the water. I did better in the beginning drinking my water than I'm doing now. I may get a water reminder app on my phone and see if that helps. I know the protein shakes are so convenient. I still drink one about every other day. They're quick and easy on your stomach and if you're like me some days my stomach feels like it just doesn't tolerate food as well as others. So weird but I guess we're still healing. It sounds like you're doing great on the weight loss and are having some nice non scale victories. Congratulations on your progress and I hope your reflux gets better with time. 😊

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake

I think it would be helpful to seek professional help at this point. It just seems as if you needed the bypass you weren't loosing weight by yourself &couldnt. You must see what you GAINED and not what's lost which seems to be alot of grief about food(which clearly was your issue to begin with) Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Playing catch-up (sorry in advance for the length of the following): May Day #24 (Friday) >>> Treat Yourself: So I have 3 weddings to go to in the next few months. One next week, one in 3 weeks, and one in September. I didn't want to buy anything new for the first two weddings because I figure I still had a few more pounds to lose and didn't want to buy a dress only to have it be too loose in a month. Then on Friday I decided to eff it and just go buy something already! I mean, I lost all this weight, may as well show the bod in something that fits me properly. At the time, I was all "so what if I'm only going to wear this dress once"? Right? Right?!? Btw, Its size 00. WTF. HOWEVER... Just today I decided I'm going to stop trying to lose more weight...I think I'm done, I feel like I'm getting too small. So I guess I may just be able to wear this dress more than once after all >>> 19 Push-ups: Oooh...these push ups were a challenge for me this morning, but they're done. No squats or sit ups though. May Day #25 (Saturday) Get Grooming: Did not actually get grooming, but made appointments to do so the following week: Haircut on Monday, IPL for Wednesday, and henna my hair Friday night. 20 push ups: Did not do these on Saturday, I actually forgot to to do them as was busy running errands and preparing for a party at our place to watch the basketball game that night (GO RAPS GO! Btw, the Raptors finally going to the NBA Finals is a huge deal over here. The entire city effectively went nuts that night. And probably a respectable portion of the rest of the country too.) On another note: I reached my Weight loss Goal for May this day. I am now 127.3 lbs, which is 0.7 lbs less than how much I weighed when I first met Mr. 20+ years ago. He says I look much thinner than he remembers when we first met, hence another reason I've decided to stop trying to lose more weight. He also said he remembers my boobs being much bigger back then *cries* May Day #26 (Sunday) Create a Gratitude Log: - Um, no. (See "Start Journalling"). 21 push ups: Did 31 this day. I tried to make up for the 20 missed the day before, but only got in an extra 10. Good enough, I say. May Day # 27 (Monday) Write down what you love about yourself: EVERYTHING. (and even if I don't sometimes, I'm working on it.) No pushups - Rest Day: Thank goodness.

    Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....

Get the BMR test for sure! technology in watches ETC. isn't as good as most would like to believe. I started this journey at 472lbs with a BMI of over 60... My sleeve was april 23,2015. I did the low calorie diet to lose my weight and in 22 months I was down to 219lbs and hated how I felt and looked. I started to lift weights to help with my loose skin issues and I got addicted to it. I have been lifting for over 2 years now and gone through numerous calorie adjustments along the way. The original poster is NOT eating enough calories. I guarantee his burn is overstated coming from the watch but he should be in the 2k calorie range to add muscle. clean calories from whole food, but higher than he is eating. I am currently eating 3500-4k a day and if I fall under that I lose weight too fast. Metabolism is racing like crazy LOL... I am sitting at 278lbs today and run 11-15% bodyfat continuously. I would love to see the original posters results from a BRM test and then we can get him moving in the right direction! I guess I should add I am 6"6" and 45 years old too.... be great!
  25. Never thought I would say this, but I think I've lost enough weight.

My goal was originally 120 lbs, and I think I'm going to stop where I am (127.3 lbs).  I'm about to size myself out of the smallest of sizes of women's clothing and I really don't want to sport a wardrobe from Gap Kids (which, btw, I actually wore this morning...my jacket felt so loose on me and its just a little too cold today to go jacket-less, so I put on the Kid's old windbreaker that she wore 2 years ago: Gap Kids size 12. Seriously.  I'm wearing my kid's hand-me-downs.  What is happening??)

I don't really understand though why when I was in my 20's, when I weighed less than I do right now, was I actually bigger than I am right now.  I still have clothes that I wore in my 20's that I am swimming in these days *scratches head*.

...and since I plan to get some PS done in August, I figure whatever skin they chop off of me will get me down closer to 120 without having to lose any more fat and/or muscle and/or overall bulk.

Soooooo....now I have to figure out how to do the maintenance thing.
