Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?
nowatgoal replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The day I joined this challenge I was at three weeks post-op and worried I might be facing a stall... I was right. I spent two weeks at the same weight. Finally, the scale has started to move again and I'm down 3 lbs. I still feel like I can reach my Halloween goal of 165. The best NSV yet was buying a size 12 pair of jeans yesterday. I wanted to announce it from the roof tops but I settled for just calling my honey ( who has no clue about woman's sizes) and then calling my daughter who could comprehend the gravity of this event. LOL -
Your minor victories are pretty awesome! These are called NSV's, Non-Scale Victories (in case you didn't know).

Fantastic list of NSVs - congratulations.

Way to go Penni. You must be on cloud nine. I would have bought every color also. That is a great NSV. So...when is your next shopping trip for clothes.

as much! Calm down, people! I still shower everyday... However, I used to be the person who had to shower before every event, sometimes multiple times a day. I would work a full day (no physical labor involved) but had to fully shower and get ready again before going out that night. I'd plan my day and my social life around when I needed to shower. I never felt "fresh." I sweated all the time. I constantly felt like I smelled. Last night my friend wanted to go out and I contemplated showering... or just washing off in the bath since I can comfortably fit in the tub now... but I realized even though I had showered 12 hours prior I still felt clean, everywhere! Some of this could be due to my new baby powder routine (LOL) but mostly because I'm not constantly sweaty anymore. I feel fresh and clean for 24 hours or more. So I just touched up my make up, straightened my hair a bit, changed and was out the door... saved me probably an hour! All NSV's are awesome but I particularly love the silly ones... so much stuff makes me laugh now about my new body! Oh yeah, last weekend I saw the guy I lost my virginity to in college for the first time in 2 1/2 years... I told him about the surgery and how much I had lost but he hadn't seen any pictures. The first thing he said, with a bewildered look, "man, you do look different as hell!" Of course, I couldn't mention my night without including a picture... I'm wearing an old sweater as a tunic with leggings now! Keep rocking those sleeves!

One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?
Zoe replied to Zoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here's a summary, as far as I understand it. Greg and Becky, you may have different ideas. Anyone interested will weigh in on Monday, Nov. 22, & send a PM to Greg. Then we just start exercising like fiends. Check in on the thread on Mondays if you can & report your exercise for the last week. The challenge runs through Monday, Jan. 3, when we'll report our final weights, and also tell how we're feeling and any NSVs (inches lost, muscle gained, blood pressure down, construction workers whistling, etc.). I don't know if the winner should be chosen based on most exercise, most weight lost, or best description of Greg in his thong Speedo; I leave that up to wiser heads. -
I had just finished my bath and some extensive shaving (drain clogging) activities when my husband arrived home from a month of working in Mexico. Sadly for me, he did not bring home any duty-free scotch, jewellery, or perfume *sob* but he did bring home himself and a great NSV. He said: Omigawd, have you ever lost weight! As for my hairy legs, I figure that they are a family curse which comes from my Scottish side, an environmental adaptation caused by centuries of wearing kilts in a cold climate. Wow! I wonder just how thick the fur on a Scotsman's sporran is; they don't wear underwear under those skirts, you know. Haha Ooooh,....Green's legs feel, oh, so smooth.....! :faint:

Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
Katie713 replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dee Dee....it's been a few weeks now, I am wondering how you are doing? I am so glad that you got such supportive responses. It is hard to admit when we are struggling, but you know what, most of us struggle at times during this process. I am a slow loser, but after tracking for so long now, I see the pattern. My body holds onto the weight for awhile, then I lose 3-5 lbs overnight. I was going thru my closet this weekend and getting rid of the rest of my larger sizes and trying stuff on, I had this favorite brown jacket and it was my "small jacket" of all my jackets, I could snap it closed but barely. I thought I could get a few more wears out of it, and as I slipped it on and the jacket wrapped from side to side...the buttons under my armpits...I had that NSV my little private reminder that I am so much smaller. Lately the scale isn't moving...and I started to think that I was the same size I was before....I still have weight to lose and have my tummy fat to contend with you see....but I allowed myself to realize that I am already a success with my healthier me campaign!!! I am doing it .....and so are YOU !! -
Last year when I went down for the Vikings game there, I was a little disappointed in some of the crowd. They didn't seem to understand when to be loud and when to be quiet. Most of the people around me seemed ok, but still not overly loud. Last night, at least on TV, seemed like you guys were right on the whole game. Especially at the end for the Shegals last 2 drives. From the fans not in attendance, Thank You. Gotcha on the Shiner. Next time I get down there, I'll have to give it a go. As for the food, you gotta live a little also, just work it off. I really loved the tailgating down there, great people sharing everything. Had a Hispanic family parked directly across from us that had a HUGE setup complete with the Texas Longhorns tent/cover. They offered us everything they had foodwise and asked for nothing in return. Gotta love those Texans! And great nsv! I love that feeling of sitting w/o going into DW's seat anymore. One for me, this past Saturday we had a SWAT team get together at one of the Lt's house. As it was rainy and chilly, DW decided she would grab my new black Champion sweatshirt with our emblem and SWAT embroidered on it. I had to fight her to get it back because she loved it because it is only an XL and she doesn't "swim" in it like before.

My Unexpected Nsv - It Rocked!
emily_0192010 replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for sharing! I love reading about these and you definitely did not overshare The NSV's are what make this whole process worth it. More than numbers and even clothing sizes. The NSV's make us shout for joy and plaster smiles on our faces... to read that someone else is experiencing it as well is an awesome feeling! It makes me feel proud, even though I don't know you personally. Good job and keep it up! I am so happy for you! -
NSV 1.) Been able to slowly get off of my antidepressants 2.) Can finally cut my hair and don't have to wear it long to hide my fat face 3.) Closet full of clothes that I can't fit (To cheap to buy new ones) 4.) Daughters friends tell her your mom is mean instead of your mom is fat when they get into arguments 5.) Can walk up and down the steps without my knees hurting AND THE BIGGEST ONE OF ALL 6.) I was told that I looked to thin and need to slow my weight loss down YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE

All of the above. Every single day I have a new nsv. Yesterday I was waiting for my daughter to finish her ballett class. She later told me that when she walked out the studio, she thought to herself who is that women she is pretty. And then she said to herself " Oh wow thats my MOM." How cool is that.
