Reactive hypoglycemia
Peach55 replied to Jessibird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am experiencing severe episodes of reactive hypoglycemia. I’ve been hospitalized 3 times in the last 2 months. My sugar drops rapidly. It’ll go from 60 to 37 in minutes. Assigned to an endocrinologist team my last hospitalization and have now been prescribed Acarbose & a told to eat 6 small meals, high protein some fat & no more than 30 grams of carbs each meal. Just started med yesterday and concentrating very hard on following diet. It’s basically the keto & I could stand to loose about 10-15 lbs so I’m eager to try this. I’m wearing a freestyle glucosemeter (no pricking) to help track sugar & bump it up before I start feeling the symptoms. I’m also carrying glucose tablets to bump it up quickly. I have an appointment next week with endo to discuss progress & decide if anything additional or different needs to be done. I pray that something can be done because living with this has turned my life upside down. I’m afraid to drive long distances; lots of confusion; no interest in usual activities and also depression has set in. I feel awful that I’ve put my family through this worry simply because I chose to have the surgery. But I would have it all over again if given the choice of being very unhealthy & obese and my life as it is now. I just have to remember that and I’ll get through this! Sorry for being long winded. I just felt if anyone would understand my feelings it would be my fellow bypass friends. Take care, I’ll keep all posted as I go thru this. 😊 -
Help! Weight gain probs. Snack suggestions.
Dametris replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMG! I'm 2yrs postop VSG and your statement hit my situation right on target. I'm starting my reset this week, I've been luck to have only gained 11lbs in the past year but I don't want this to get out of control. I didn't want to loose any more weight after having my plastic surgery of fat transfer so I begin eating more. Thanks for sharing & keep us posted🤩 Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Ive kept mine a secret except for close relatives(mother, father, grandmother, sister, brother, one aunt, and one cousin) and two friends because it’s no one else’s business. My dr told me everyone relapses at some point and may gain some weight back but to not focus on failing but instead realize how far you’ve come and just get right back up on that horse and keep going. I do worry about the scars if someone sees them and asks what they are from. I’m about two months and three weeks out(had gastric bypass on March 27th) I’ve lost about 95lbs total (46lbs before surgery) I didn’t worry about people questioning me loosing weight so fast because I have two or three friends and I don’t really “hang out” or really even see many people I am a home body so for all anyone knows I could’ve been loosing weight for a year or so😂. I don’t go out I work from home and workout at home lol. Don’t worry about being judged while eatingout. When we go out all I can think of is how I’m a cheap date now 😂 went to Taco Bell got a side of retried Beans and cheese for 90 cents and it lasted me three meals 😂

I enjoyed my house slippers over those I'll fitting socks. You'll be walking a lot. And make sure whatever you're wearing there is nice and loose. Sent from my SM-J737T1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
My hair loss started at 4 months and continued for well past the year mark. But I did have gallbladder surgery at 11 months which could have contributed. I am now almost at two years and hair is almost fully back to normal. Still sprouting new growth all the time. I do take Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins.

about me: HW-472LBS CW-267LBS I started lifting just to help loose skin and now I am a full blown iron-head LOL... bodybuilding is my thing although ill never compete due to midsection skin issues. I am happy overall and just focus on bettering myself. Glad to see all the hard work in this thread! Keep it coming! -
I had something similar, my surgeon thought a small skin blood vessel got knicked, when I got enough Lovenox into my system, it started slowly oozing, nearly covered my abdomen with blood between the skin and muscle layer. Slightly swelled up, looked like I had been impregna by an alien!👹

FWIW - I'm sitting around 155. A normal BMI for me would be in the 125 range which is just crazy for my body type - always has been - I'm very busty and have always had thick thighs (I was a figure skater). Right now, my body fat is down to about 25% and my muscle mass is increasing. I have not had plastics. I lift to support my fencing (as in en garde) I'm nationally ranked in my age group (50-59). I'm 5'3". I can deadlift 240 and back squat the same. I can overhead press 80 lbs. (Upper body stregnth has been my issue.) I have done a clean and jerk at 80 and a ****** at 70. I am toned. Am I a bit muscular - sure - but I'm never going to see 15% body fat again - I've had 2 kids, been through menopause and haven't had plastics. I was over 300 at my highest weight. I wear size 6 Levi's (without stretch) and size 6 workout pants. I'm still really busty - but down to a 36DDD from at 42H. I don't care about the number, but how I feel and look. And right now, I look pretty damn good. (As in I get checked out at the gym all the time.) It's really about you and how you feel in your skin.

How much weight did you lose before people noticed?
Coleslaw replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
At 22 pounds, a lot of people started asking me if I had gotten my hair cut. ***I HAD NOT!*** LOL. They notice something different but haven't figured out it's my weight. Still wearing the same clothes. I could probably go down a size but my incisions are still healing and I prefer a loose fit for now. I'm still only 3 weeks post-op. HW: 192; SW: 180; CW: 167. -
So I was of the mind set because of many past experience’s in the gym that I should not go too heavy with my weights till I’m closer to maintenance because I may have some scale stalls well, I tell ya.. since I have practically NO muscle tone and a lot of loose skin I am at the point that I’d like to push myself even if my thighs and arms increase in size ( I never minded looking muscular) I’d rather them jacked than skinny and flabby... I once trained for a woman’s naturals ( ahem, 30 plus years ago) and I had to do cardio and heavy weights , I wasn’t small but very toned and defined.. i know if I start to stall I will freak... I’m torn... should I wait and get close to my goal and lose more fat with cardio? Or, should I go heavy and fill in with the muscle and look how I like to look!.. and probably take longer to get the scale down..I weigh 163 and I’m 5-4” with a goal weight of 140 ...

Best MGB surgeon in INDIA?
ideal_weight replied to ideal_weight's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
No, regular bypass is more complicated and pouch is way too small. I am looking forward to MGB as its relatively new and easier to do and best part is its reversible if body is not adapting to it. no insurance here so i can choose what surgery i would like. Though iam having second thoughts about surgery and iam thinking i should try to loose weight naturally with full determination. -
Yes , yes and yes... we have lots of elderly clients at my job and for the most part they are well groomed , well coifed little darlings... but then there are a few who smell like rancid depends and Avon’s honeysuckle and I am literally 🤢🤢🤢🤢But , I also appreciate some smells more.. oranges , since my acid reflux has been healed by my RNY I can eat oranges... I squeeze the skin to smell the Orange essence... love it.. maybe I’ll keep some at work for under my nose 🥴

Sip constantly, carry whatever you need to drink with you everywhere, it gets better. Dizziness is a sign of dehydration, drink salty bone broth - it helps. It is very difficult to get rehydrated once you are in true dehydration, watch out for that. Some people end up needing an IV to combat it, if your urine is dark, scanty, and your hand skin stays pinched when you tug it up and you pass out a lot - have someone take you to ER/Urgent care. Stay rested, sip, sip, sip - those are your only jobs right now.

"Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I did call a bunch of other surgeon's in a 50 mile radius of my house and NOT A SINGLE ONE did arm lifts! They ALL just do boob jobs and lipo and facial stuff. Very weird. And several of the receptionist "never heard of" insurance for a tummy tuck and I explained I had gastric bypass and they said "they don't *do* that"... although I probably have less skin on my tummy than someone who gave birth once. Unless he says something totally absurd, I feel good about seeing my guy again. -
"Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?
Taoz replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
At 13 months post op and close to goal, I've also started looking into skin removal surgery. It took several months to get in for an appointment with the local specialist plastic surgeon I am keen to go with here, and their waiting list for surgery is 6 months plus.. so I didn't want to wait until after I have been weight stable 6 months before even starting to get the ball rolling. He previously specialised mostly in breast surgery, but in recent years has become really sought after for his fantastic post-weight-loss skin removal surgeries. If you have short windows of opportunity for surgery dates, and are keen on a well sought after surgeon then give yourself plenty of time to plan your operations. I have lost 52kg (115lb) and would love to lose up to another 9kg (20lb) to make it all the way down to "normal" BMI, however I have a fair bit of loose skin on belly, butt, upper arms and inner thighs, and my poor once very large boobs are now mostly deflated skin So I'm not sure how much more I really have to lose beyond the skin... I have a lot of upper ribs showing on my chest already at 69kg (152lb) and 157cm (5'2") -
Hi, I’m looking for advice. I weigh 11 stone 11 pounds and I’m booked in to have gastric band surgery in less than a week. As it gets nearer to the time I’m starting to have second thoughts. I have been trying to loose weigh all my life but I just can’t. I know I’m now very overweight but I really want to loose 3 stone. Am I crazy to do this?? I’d love some advice because I’m feeling very nervous. Thank you in advance

February 2019 weight loss buds
Carrot64 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had lost and gained weight so many times In my life starting at age 12 with kiddie weight watchers! No matter what age I don’t feel over weight at 140 even if it has said I was on old weight charts in the past. I have been an exercise fanatic off and on as well and have always had some fair amount of muscle tone that was covered up in 100 lbs of excess fat for a long while now .. I’m determined to be at goal at 150 at 5 feet 4” even if it’s still considered over weight because at 55 years old even at 167 my face is starting to look too thin as well as my legs and even with weight training I don’t seem to be able to put the muscle back in my legs to make myself look proportionate to my 55 year old mid section of a woman who gave birth and stretched her skin out... my 4 th child will be entering college so there is nothing in the budget for skin removal as well.. if I can’t tone it I’ll fake tan it and learn to accept my progress that’s not leading to my idea of my perfection. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
Recidivist replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So, I am now 3 months and three weeks post-surgery, and I weigh 167. That's a loss of 83 pounds from my original weight and a loss of 70 pounds since surgery. And my goal weight is 150--just 17 more pounds to lose. I'm flabbergasted at how quickly the weight has come off (and I'm hoping my saggy skin will start to catch up). Ladies, please bear in mind that men lose weight much more quickly than women, so don't hate me. This will sound like a weird thing to say, but I'm a bit concerned that I might lose too much and start to look emaciated. At this rate, I'll be at my goal weight at about six months post-surgery--and then what? I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, and I could certainly figure out how to increase my calories. 🙂 -
Yes it sure is and the first time you sit on an unpadded chair-- you will see what I mean, You will swear your pelvic bones are going to extrude out your skin, because it feels like you have lost the last bit of gluteal fat. I am amazed daily what bone I will feel just below my skin surface, Tomkitten says I like to stroke my clavicle, maybe so, it had been many years,. they went "undervover with either the1st or secobd Great Weight Gain. And I stroke. it just to say "Great to see and feel you once again!"

February 2019 weight loss buds
EmzBee replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Also: I've convinced hubby to try out Keto with me! Anyone want to join? I mean, we're pretty much all following some kind of LCHF/LCHP diet anyway 😂 TBH I'm kind of scared about consuming more fat, but I'm MORE scared about how quickly carbs started to creep back into my diet... so I'm going to try to eliminate them entirely. Sounds like a 'carnivore' diet can be reasonably good for head problems/depression, and I have eczema/skin issues too, that might benefit from the extra fat (I'm having particular problems around my sugar glider wings and side boobs... thanks, loose skin!) -
February 2019 weight loss buds
EmzBee replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Question: How did you set your goal weight? I was mathematical about it... initial info said with RNY 'expect to lose around 75% of your EXCESS weight'. I calculated that from my top weight (138kgs) which co-incidentally worked out to be 84kgs; which is where I was when I started uni, and what I managed to lose down to when I started gymming pretty hard in my second year (I'm turning 30 in October... it's been many years since I've seen anywhere close to the weight I am now!) Just asking 'cause it looks like I'll have to set a 'stretch goal'. I never really considered what it might be like to *actually* be small or within my HWR. And to be honest, the idea scares me a little (especially with the loose skin I have now... I can't imagine what it will be like if I lose another 20 or so kgs!) So, what's your goal weight based on, peeps? How did you go about setting it? ❤️ -
Personal question.. laxative or dumping syndrome?
Frustr8 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know after I took Ducolax pills, got the expected relief, the next day I had very loose stool, pretty full of mucus, almost the same texture I had post-Pancreatitis, and there's A Disease You do not want. It was in 2015 and I still remember It well. I NEVER want it again. I have always been told Kidney Stones are the MOST PAINFUL thing one can have. If Kidney Stones are a 10, pancreatitis is a 9.875, I tear up 💦 at the memory. I believe I would prefer Abdominal Surgery with Novacaine to it any day! I hope my Doctor Needleman doesn't read Bariatric Pal, if he does I'll have another non-sedation, non- anesthesia. Upper Endoscopy like they accidentally did the 26th of last October. If you, like me, have hair in the red/ginger family remind them redheads require more sedation than the average brunette patient. Not something I'm. making up, it is a definate fact , and there are studies to prove it. Lucky for them I didn't panic, most people might. I just laid there and watched everything, Much Better than You-Tube because this was not prestaged, this was the Real Thing and Totally Cool! -
@Healthy_life2 hey bud - are you referring to recent heart prob? or talking about from earlier? if answer is you just had the "issue" so very sorry. (or earlier too) very sad - hope you are ok now? Improving? too many OP take their health for granted. Don't go to PHP at all, or not enough. Since some OP don't go to doc/normal check-ups, they don't know if they have developed diabetes/high blood pressure etc.😒 Unfortunately for various health probs that i've always had - i am able to be forewarned by the doc "if something is developing" (see my general doc too often for checkups) 50+ years ago, as i turned into a teenager, my mom always "mentioned" i need to loose weight. mom and i both referred to my appearance (vanity reasons) to loose weight. It took many years to realize my health was getting worse, and worse! that's why i needed to,(not for my appearance only, but for my health -must loose the weight Kept yo yoing like OP, finally one month before I turned 58 years old - i was sleeved. Now am 65 years YOUNG!! i love proudly yelling that after weighing 235 lbs DOS - like you, i will fluctuate the 130ish range too. 7+ years PO - maintaining - still cute as a button🤣 your advise to newbies et al, is as usual great. reader beware/listen to @Healthy_life2 wise words!! Love your pics - lookin' beautiful in your LBD (little black dress!) keep on keeping on. Keep responding, writing your posts. We all love to hear from you finally - ALL of us must take a page from @Healthy_life2 book - watch your body/ take care of yourself of yourselves - your life depends on it!! Who loves you baby?? 😉 kathy

What does dehydration feel like?
