Has anyone had a lap band over sleeve surgery?
wannawearabikini posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use to have a lap band and had to have it removed because it slipped. My doctor revised it to a sleeve. But the sleeve just hasn’t been nearly affective and I so desperately want my band back!! But I’m finding that no doctors will do a band over sleeve in Houston. Has anyone had a band over your sleeve? I want my band back!! 😩 -
Has anyone had a band over their sleeve?
wannawearabikini posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use to have a lap band(placed in 2011) . I was 220lbs and got down to 123lbs. I loved my band! I got sick and was vommitting for hours and it ended up slipping. I had a revision done and the band removed and the sleeve surgery done in November 2017. But I can’t lose weight! I’m now 176lbs! And so depressed! I want my band back! But I can’t find any surgeons in the Houston area who do a band over a sleeve. I’m even willing to pay out of pocket! Has anyone had a band placed over their sleeve? Does anyone have any tips or advice? I feel like my appetite is so big again and my sleeve surgery just hasn’t done what my band did for me. -
Does anyone still monitor this forum?

I had the lap band with plication in 2012. I started having problems aboit 6months ago and went to a different doctor. I told her I had the plication and she said "oh, I'm sure it didn't hold... The stitches most likely came out". I just had revision to bypass on 2/25. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Pain on left side, sometimes under my ribs
lspringman posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a revision from band to bypass on 2/25, so just over 3 weeks ago. I find that throughout the day I'll get this sharp pain (similar to the feeling of a muscle spasm) on my left side, just under my ribs. Sometimes it even kicks in when I start eating (still on soft /pureed foods). Doesn't usually last long. At night, I can't lay on my back in bed! I get these horrible sharp pains. As soon as I move to my side, it ends. I'm trying to convince myself it's from healing and my body is just trippin' while trying to heal LOL. My doctor did tell me my pain in the left side would be worse and take longer to heal. Anybody else have a similar situation? Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app -
About to be revised...anyone in Northern CA??
bubbz333 replied to amschuttpelz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm currently waiting for a phone call to schedule my surgery date. I'll be getting a revision from sleeve to bypass for severe GERD at Kaiser Richmond. Look me up on Instagram if you all want to keep in touch there. I have a personal and a WLS account, here's both: bubbz333 (personal) & vsgbubbz (WLS). I'm much more nervous about the surgery this time around so it would help to have some people to talk to that are going through the same thing. -
Just wondering if Wellcare will pay for a revision if I need one? I have a scope Friday after 4 years to see how it's going in there. I've struggled for over a week to just drop 1 lb. I've been going to to gym and eating way less and upping my water and other liquids. And protein. I just hope I haven't messed my sleeve up. Cuz if Wellcare doesn't pay for it I sure can't.

February 2019 weight loss buds
froufrou replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I saw my doctor today and it looks like I may have a stricture - apparently it's more common after a revision. I am so done with this - I can't afford to pay for any more surgeries for starters, my body is done with procedures and I don't want to put my husband through any more of this. I have three days to figure out whether I can or can not get dense protein down. -
Breast Lift with Implants
Everything replied to logicwand's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I’m in Florida now but I am from Livingston/Jasper/Nacogdoches/Lufkin/Midtown/the Woodlands/KLEIN - Go Bearcats!! I used the Baylor residence program for a lot of cosmetic surgeries/Botox. I had liposuction and breast lift/ implants in 2008. My implants are way too big for me now but at the time they seemed like a logical idea. Looking to get those removed/ revised. I have since had two accidents and now suffer with back pain. Baylor did a great job with my lipo (Of course I gained back all the crap that I had liposucked our and ended up having a sleeve years later). But it’s a great program if you haven’t looked into it yet... I paid like $3400 for boobs and $4000 for the rest - 2 different surgeries. Would have been cheaper but I opted for the overnight hospital package at Methodist. I just wanted to comfort of staying in a hospital bed overnight with 24 hours care. Anyway, just my 2 cents... -
I currently have a lapband and seeking a revision to a gastric sleeve. Does anyone have any experience with this? is approval process the same with the 6 month nutrition plan?

Sleeve revision to bypass
bubbz333 replied to Colorchic's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thank you so much for your reply. I was on the fence about the revision surgery until I found out the exact results from the 24 pH test I had to do to test how bad the acid is in my stomach and that really solidified my decision. I guess the normal range is less than 14.92 something and mine was 104.9! I couldn't believe it and it has already done some damage to my esophagus. I also have problems sleeping because of the reflux. I'm so happy that you have relief from all of that. I'm excited to hopefully be rid of this reflux soon. -
No, it is not too soon to be considering this. This is one of the considerations that I discussed with out surgeon - the prospect of doing the second half of the DS sometime in the future if needed, and his position is that it is best to do it before too much regain is experienced, as the "switch" part of the DS is more effective at helping to resist regain than it is to aid in the loss. IOW, as one informal rule of thumb that they often discussed in meetings is that the sleeve gets the weight off, while the switch keeps it off. That's not completely true - the switch does have some loss component to it, but call it 80% true. Also, most revisions aren't as effective at losing weight than a virgin procedure (you are already used to having reduced capacity, etc., and have worked around it...) so switching early plays into the strength of the DS. The down side of "catching it early" is that insurance may not cover the second half if one hasn't regained to the standard 35/40 BMI level, and also the psych aspect of actually pulling the lever to revise rather than "I know I can do it without, just one more try..." That's a tough choice, but no, it isn't too early for best results.

I was sleeved 1/17 I did great. My dr called me a “super acchiever” until my 2 year mark when I had gained 20 lbs back. After his pep talk i gained another 10. Sigh. Now I’m looking at DS and it’s appealing. Especially eliminating the hunger factor. My high weight was 283 lowest 171 current 205. My questions are is it too soon to start thinking about revising and if not would you all do it again. I love my sleeve no complications at all and an easy recovery wondering how recovery is vs the sleeve. Thanks in advance!

Sleeve revision to bypass
bubbz333 replied to Colorchic's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have been going through the process for this because of GERD too. I heard from my surgeon today after having a bunch of tests done to figure out just how bad the acid is and what kind of damage it has done. Basically my only 2 options are to stay on Protonix forever or have the bypass surgery. The medication doesn't work all day for me and I don't really want to be on this medicine long term so I'm leaning towards the revision to bypass but it's still scary. I'm waiting for a call for the surgery department to set up a surgery date. To those of you that have already had the revision surgery, how are you recovering? Did you notice a difference with your acid reflux? -
I'm having my revision sleeve to bypass tomorrow. How are you feeling. Hoping all is well. Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using BariatricPal mobile app

You should start a new thread of you want some answers to your question. But basically, most sleeve to GB revisions are due to reflux issues. Sometimes other reasons, too. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Morning . I had my surgery 12 March . I am a band to sleeve revision. Have really don’t have any pain as of now . Can’t wait until I can at least have meal replacement drinks or even a small protein drink lol . Suppose to stay on clear liquids. I bought some of those clear protein drinks .. omg they are nasty!! If you are still on clear like me I found if I put ice the drink and some artificial sweetener in a blender they taste a lot better, not much but tolerable. My walking is good I walk at least 5 times a day .. miss coffee big time de-Caf isn’t same .. other than that I got this !! We’re is everyone from ? I’m in Waco Texas , I am married have 4 kids and 4 grandsons . I am a professional fashion photographer.

How’d you Choose? Sleeve v.s. Bypass?
Pippa1703 replied to NotActive1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where I'm going, the bypass is more expensive than the sleeve, which I dont mind, I said I'd be fine with either and had my concerns about sleeve revision but also dont want to need to visit my doctor every few months for b12 injections. Ive settled on the sleeve . My BMI is 36, i have no weight related illnesses other than earlty arthritis so my surgeon is confident that I'm a more suitable sleeve candidate. Especially as i quite enjoy exericise classes and am happy to be active when ive been at a lower weights, he's confident that I can do what is needed to maintain any losses and after speaking with him, I'm happy too -
I chose the sleeve over bypass 4 years ago. I cannot say that is was wrong choice at that time in my life. I know WLS saved my life. Now, I am getting revised for múltiple reason including never getting to a healthy weight, GERD and a hernia plus my sleeve was never a sleeve. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I absolutely agree. There is no right way to have WLS. -- Some have sleeve, some have DS, some have band, some have a sort of bypass. Some follow all rules and never get where they want to be, some are a bit less obsessed and are very successful. Some jump through all hoops, have the waiting period and diet and all and some simply go there and self-pay. Some have revision because they weren't successful the first time and need a second chance. --- However, there is still "telling the truth when asked" and "telling some fairly tale when asked". If you don't want to tell the truth (I can understand that one doesn't want to tell every jerk on the planet though these people don't tend to want to casual talk to me IRL anyway), at least just raise an eyebrow and say nothing at all.

Finding great doc in Dallas-Fort Worth Area????
MarinaGirl replied to KarenLR75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As stated in the other/dupe post, the following doctor is a preeminent bariatric surgeon in the DFW area, and is also one of the few in the US that can handle complex revisions cases. Many people travel from all over the country, Texas, and even internationally, to get surgery with him. He also is very experienced with the Duodenal Switch (2 anastomoses) procedure, which very few surgeons are capable of performing. Is this what your plan allows this early out? Are you a revision or new surgery?
