  1. Lol, I would assume you were referencing the fast food options as potential food you might eat in the future when you are back on solids? I am 28 months post-op and this is what I ate today: Breakfast- Pack of instant oatmeal mixed with Water, heated, drizzled with honey and 1/3 cup granola mixed in. I ate about 1/3 the bowl and tossed the rest. I eat this pretty much every single day. Lunch- A Hillshire Farms small plate...it's basically an adult lunchable. I used to only eat half which is 9.5g Protein and 185 calories, but lately I've been eating roughly 2/3 or sometimes the whole thing. Dinner- 1/2 chicken salad sandwich from Chik Fil A Snacks: 1 Fiber One bar, 1 bag of goldfish crackers, 1 grande skinny iced caramel machiatto This gives me 48g protein, 150g carbs, 11g Fiber, 40g sugar, 46g fat and 1,193 net calories. Most days I am between 1400-1600 calories. Some days I go for a run and burn about 300 calories, other days I don't. I have been at goal since April and I fluctuate 1-3 pounds upward and back down. Sometimes I will have 1/4 of a subway sandwich....the good kind with marinara and American cheese and turkey. Sometimes it makes me barf, because my stomach is picky. At Chik Fil A, sometimes I will have half the grilled chicken sandwich or a 6pc grilled nuggets with BB sauce. The chili from Panera is really good but there have been points where I would eat half a Panini for lunch (the cheesy, fatty, kind). I did it very infrequently and now it makes me puke so not something I do very often. I almost never have sweets because I have found that this is the one way that I will gain weight pretty quickly. I also avoid Wheat Thins because they are a huge slider food for me and I will eat the whole box in a day. Fried food, food with oil, eggs and a lot of fish make me barf- my sleeve just doesn't like certain foods. Overall though, at over 2 years out I eat what I want to, just in vastly smaller serving sizes than I once did. I have pretty much done that the entire time from about 3 months to now. I was self-pay so no one harped the nutrition program for me. As long as I put my food into MyFitnessPal everyday, weigh myself every single day, and stay on top of my calories, I have not had a hard time maintaining. The trick though is you need to weigh every day. I started gaining a little in October and it took me 2 months to get back down to where I am now, which was literally a 5 pound loss and it was miserable. I had my blood tests done this summer and all of my values are almost right in the middle of the normal limit spectrum, so not eating your butt off in protein everyday, which I have never done, is not going to hurt you as long as you are staying within normal daily levels. Don't skip 500 calories in protein because you want to eat 1200 calories in crackers. Use the time you have now as a honeymoon, lose as much as you can in the first year to 18 months because that is when the restriction is the greatest. It is very possible to eat like a normal person and still stay at a healthy weight that you have accomplished with a sleeve. When I feel like having a Frappucino, I have one...with skim milk and whip cream. If I want a cookie, generally I avoid them, but every few months I will have a few. I eat Chik Fil A usually about once a week and usually about half a serving size, I eat Panera chili about once a week, I would eat Subway salads more often if it was closer to my house, and when I go out to dinner I order what I want (excluding stuff that is fried- puking at dinner is bad) and usually I only eat maybe 1/3 of a serving. So, moral of my very long post, you are not going to starve and you do not have to swear off the food you like to eat forever. You get to a point where a few bites is all you need to be satisfied and this lets you maintain your loss. Do what works for you. Plenty of people on here would skewer me for this post because what works for them is totally different than what works for me. My thing is that I got a sleeve so I could be normal and normal for me is not eating cottage cheese, Protein shakes, broccoli and turkey for the rest of my life for every meal. Normal for me is what I'm doing right now...drinking a Diet Dr. Pepper (also something I've done since about 2 months out from surgery) and getting ready to go grab another snack pack of Goldfish crackers while I finish up the last of my work for the day.
  2. I'm 6 days out and am on essentially full liquids: Protein shakes, tomato Soup, broth, smooth yogurt, Water, are my staples. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Protein

I use isopure there are many flavors but I only can tolerate the grape as long as its really cold you can go online or GNC they have 50 grams of Protein I hate shakes Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  4. I just searched this topic because I'm having the same issue! I'll be 9 weeks out on Wednesday and for the past 2 days I can only get a few bites down. I never thought it could be due to the very hot weather we've been having. I have been trying to eliminate protein shakes and eat more solid food, so that could have something to do with it too, I suppose. I've lost 4 lbs in the past 3 days, though, so at least there's a positive side!

    Surgery Monday 10/24 Feeling Hungry

    Do you still feel hungry?

Relax, you haven't stretched your pouch out. The problem is simply (!) you have virtually no restriction with only 1.5cc so when you eat, it passes out of your pouch fairly quickly and (2) you are so eager to feel that mystical restriction that you're stressed out over not feeling it. Your description of a dinner isn't bad really...especially with no more restriction than you have. Maybe try changing up meals...for breakfast eat eggs instead of cereal. Change the type of exercise you are doing or increase it some. Make sure you are drinking at least 64 oz Water a day. And, as I posted on this same thread earlier: "I was told to eat the kind of meal I'd been instructed ... about 3/4 cup of food, Protein first (at least 20 grams), steamed veggies and if I was still hungry a small serving of carbs. Then I was told that if I got hungry between meals, to eat 1 oz of low fat cheese or a boiled egg (I only eat the whites because the yellow is where all the cholesterol and fat are located)." If you are so hungry, eat a snack .... but make it protein. Protein takes longer to digest than anything else you can put in your mouth, so it will stay in your pouch longer and hold off hunger longer.

    2 years today

I saw my Doctor for my 2 year follow up today, on my actual 2 year anniversary, and it went great. I asked him if I should worry about year three. He smiled and said I don’t worry about you, you get this, and has every confidence that I will stay on track. I think the second year was easier for me than the first year, I feel like I know what I have to do, and what to avoid, to maintain a healthy weight. I lost weight so slowly the first year, I got very frustrated at times but I never lost hope, cheated or gave up. I WANTED And needed this, so quitting was never an option for me. Reading this board then participating A few months later really helped me reach my goals. Im not going to kid myself and assume anything. I have to stay diligent and track what I eat and remain active. There is no magic answer, you have to put in the work and keep doing it. It hasn’t always been easy but it has been so worth it. So far, so good.

    Odd Question

It's just as easy to mindlessly munch and graze now as it was pre-op especially with slider foods. I opt for a healthier option now that I'm in maintenance. During my losing phase, I really didn't snack because I knew I needed to avoid it completely to get to goal. I ate when I wasn't hungry pre-op, and now that my hunger is completely gone, I still eat when I'm not hungry. BUT, with the sleeve, eating a healthier option is easier.

    Help Needed Q

Try some Unjury chicken broth flavored powder. They gave it to me in the hospital and it went down really well, so I ordered some. There is lots of protein in it. They have unflavored too that maybe you could add to some clear liquids. If you need to stay on clears a little longer, then do it. No harm in that.
  13. Sue - I only had to do the pre-op for six days and that was rough. I actually 'cheated' a bit. I had a piece of that liv-active cheese a couple times and got a grilled chicken sandwich from McDonalds - threw away everything but the chicken and nibbled on that for a few hours one night. It really helped. Made me feel like a human. I really got pretty weak by the end. Good luck to you! I'm four days since banding and now its hard to get enough stuff in me. Fluids/protein/vitamins/biotin/blood thinner injections - I actually made a checklist so I wouldn't forget anything important.
  14. Thank you so much guys! Kelly, you described it PERFECTLY!!! I appreciate your tips on the protein drinks too. I will give them a try. You may be right. I may just be intollerant to them, not just the "milk." It really helps to hear you went through this and was able to move on. I'll keep working on this. Thanks again. I really appreciate it!!!
  15. I did this for several months also at the 3 month point...lasted about 5 months. I lost almost 160 in about a year. I just had a very hard time eating calories. I also ate almost all Protein diet with supplements. FYI I never got sick or had any issues with my sleeve, other than my skin sagging all over and on my face. That now is gone. Oh drink lots of Water, it helps with the skin elasticity!!!!!!!!!!
  16. That's great. Please send your weight loss vibes my way - LOL. I agree with the others regarding nutrition. Just keep on top of your Protein and Vitamins. Also, if you're taking in more fluids (i.e. water) and exercising more, that may be playing a significant role in your sudden rapid weight loss. Keep up the good work! Niki
  17. Hey everyone! As a requirement for surgery I have to make a 3 day menu. My problem is that I don't like most of the items on the list. I don't like yogurt or cottage cheese. I have never eaten refried Beans. I have to have between 75-100g of Protein everyday. I want to be prepared so that I will not have problems after the surgery. What are some of the things that you guys ate during this phase of your journey. I don't have a surgery date yet, my final pre-op visit is Monday, April 14 and I am hoping to be scheduled before the end of the month (is that realistic?). I am so glad I found this site. My husband thinks I am crazy because for the past week, I have been reading all these post.

  20. Omg good will yessss!!!! My pants are saggy too I been walking ALOT I love the feeling of the weight coming off can't wait to weigh in not this Fri next!! And I looked at the Atkins protein shakes I'm buying some as we speak !!
  21. Don't freak out! I have BCBSVT, so I am sure it is similar. As long as you have completed the 6 month required doctor/ nutritionist visits, had your psych evaluation, and any other test your doctor requires you should not be denied. It took about 3 1/2 weeks for me to get my letter. The one difference is my Bariatric doctors office sent all info to the insurance to make sure everything was completed correctly. You should be able to search BCBSMN Bariatric Policy and it will tell you all you need to know. I had the RNY on May 28. I chose RNY over sleeve, because the sleeve is still new and so many people seem to get the sleeve and then end up having the RNY anyway. Of course it hurt some, but you are going to have pain killers in the hospital, and will be given some for when you leave. I used them for 3 days only. The main thing is walk, walk, walk! Luckily my husband was with me so I walked the hospital halls every two hours. The pre op diet was the worst, after surgery was a breeze because you don't really feel like eating. It is very hard to get all your Water and Protein in at the beginning, but by week 3 it gets easier. Trust me you will want to skip food stages, especially the puréed/ soft to regular food but don't. You want to be gentle on your new stomach so it can heal and you do not want to stretch your new pouch. In regards to work, you will lose energy at the beginning because of less food, surgery and recovery. Personally I was not worth anything for the first 10 days. I slept most of the first five, so I would recommend taking 2 weeks off. You should be given louvenox ( blood thinner shot) to use for ten days after surgery to prevent blood clots. So you should have no worry there. Good luck and just keep your mind on the end result you want. In 4'weeks I have lost 30 pounds.
  22. I have to say that before surgery, I always liked the idea of tracking, but never stuck to it (a few days, a week tops). Post-op, however, I am very diligent about tracking on the Baritastic app. I don't really know why. I think I'm somewhat fearful about getting dehydrated or not getting enough Protein that it motivates me to keep better track. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  23. @@ginabee38 It's ironic that you posted this because today I am 5weeks post gastric sleeve surgery and on my first week of solid food. I'm not great at tracking, calorie counting, journaling etc. But I want to be successful, so tonite I downloaded an app called My Net Diary. All I did was type in my stats and goal weight. Then typed in what I ate.. Every food and brand name possibl e is in there, just click! So easy and it breaks down calories, fat, carb and protein for the day. I figured what the heck, I'm on the phone anyway! I also got these portioned little plastic containers Can find at Walgreen's, Marshalls or As seen on TV. They are 1cup, half cup etc. Takes the guess work out of it! If I don't have a plan, one that I will follow, I will fail. It's easy to fall back on bad habits.. Even with a tool. My mirror is my motivation!! I'm not giving myself a time limit, just a weight loss goal. Good luck on your journey.. This app has been a great resource as well!
  24. Yes chew chew so your tummy can process it better. Plus taking your time is better for your digestive system. I don't drink with my meals. I may have a sip when out with friends so I look "normal" but you don't want to fill up on liquids, you need your protein. You had a life style change. Change is hard but you will get use to it. Good luck. Jan 11, 2017 SW - 217 CW - 168 GW - 140
  25. That is really good just put all ingredients into my Fittness pal and it will give calories protein I bet that it will be good
