Help Stuck 1 And 1/2 Week Postop
thinspiration posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon cleared me for mushies after surgery. I got a little lazy to bullet the meatballs I made and instead just mashed it. I think they were a little dry and now I have an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and throat. Will this pass or do I have to try to bring it up? -

Thanks it's been GREAT have not been sick everything is wonderful!!!! 30 lbs down its been 3 weeks -
...I'm starting to get a little nervous. I took a lot of time and weighed all my options before finally deciding to undergo the sleeve. I know this is the right choice for me. I'm not worried about the surgery. This is more about how I will deal with how quickly I will (or won't) lose the weight, how obsessed I have always been with the scale (I weigh myself no fewer than three times a day), and whether I'll be satisfied with my progress. I have every reason to believe this is the very best thing for me. And I'm excited. I just hope I don't let my head interfere. I've been quietly reading the forums for several months now. Seems like a supportive group of people, I look forward to this journey...and will look her for wisdom along the way.

I had that pain on the rift side and it turned out to be gas. It went away after a while. I'm 5 weeks out.

Hey!!! I had my surgery on 7/15 date of surgery I was 253, and as of today I am 198, total loss 55 pounds. I just hit my 3 month mark about 2 weeks ago and like clockwork I am loosing hair. I have ALOT of hair and it's very thick so it's not noticeable to anyone but me but I'm noticing more hair in the front is coming out than in the back and I am definently seeing some bald spots. Also I've noticed my hair texture has changed? When I use to wash it, it would feel silky and soft and now it's coarse and tangley. What do u do when there is hair loss is it a good idea to cut your hair? My hair is long almost to my lower back. Would appreciate the input

4 weeks post op steal dealing with intense pain
Ashley~ posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi y'all I'm Ashley and new here. I got my sleeve about a month ago. Been following all the instructions as warranted but I'm still dealing with a good amount of pain. Still have pain in the "where my stomach was taken out" which I figured would stay around for a bit. Now I have new pain. It was so bad I went to the ER. They said I'm all clear which my dr was surprised. He thought surely he'd fine a leak. So thankful he didn't. Anyway I guess my question is is anyone still dealing with pain?? Even a month out?? When did it finally go away?? -
Hi All Have not been on site for a while now. I have enjoyed reading everyones posts. Can anyone tell me how long does a fill usually last. I notice I start getting hungry at about the 4th week. I am doing well . My scales I have lost 20kgs (banded April 06). Things are going well except I am at the stage I need another fill as I have become ravenous. Am seeing Dr this Friday.:clap2: Cheers

Hi everyone! I haven't been here in a while. No news from me is good news..lol We went out to eat last week and I was starving. We waited too long to eat and when my food came, I ate too fast and too much. I was in pain later that night and felt swollen with some reflux. I still do. It's a little better, but not much. Thoughts? I know, slap me up the side of the head, especially after reading all the recent complications Bandlanders have posted here with slippage and dilation of pouch and esophagus.:phanvan

Bump In The Road Surgery 10/29 Biopsy Needed During Surgery
sleevegirl108 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am being sleeved next Monday. I had an ultrasound of my thyroid 2 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease (Hashimotos) last year. My nodules have shrunk (taking Synthroid) however my lymph nodes around my thyroid and neck are enlarged. I am scheduled for an MRI of my neck tomorrow then off to see a neck surgeon Wednesday. My Endo says it makes most sense to have the lymph node biopsy during sleeve surgery. I will see my stomach surgeon tomorrow to discuss further. I was thinking he can do the neck biopsy rather than bring in the neck surgeon. Anyway I'm nervous this week to begin with and now I have to worry about a neck biopsy/result pre and post surgery. I was wondering if anyone else experienced something similar? Thank you so much! -
My surgery date is set, and I started two weeks of liquid yesterday. Wow. This past week was profoundly emotional for me. Being a pretty level-headed, stable guy, I found myself a nervous wreck coming up on the liquid diet. Also, got very weepy with my wife, feeling guilty and ashamed of how I had let myself go. Anyone else experience this?? Starting the process (liquid diet) has re-grounded me... I am focused and ready for this new healthy life, sans high bp, type 2 diabetes, high chol, etc...

I have a heart issue that requires antibiotics before dental work and my doctor told me that after the healing process (first weeks only) of complete there should not be any issues at all. So I'd agree with the previous post that you should be fine in regards to absorption. -
FYI silicone strips to minimize scars
GaGrl replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw those too, but went with a cheaper option. I bought a $1.50 pure Vitamin E stick. I think it is working. I am now 4 weeks out & my incision sites are beginning to take on a lighter tone. (I started using twice a day as soon as sites were healed over) Keep me posted about the strips, I am wondering how they work. Best of luck to you! -
I think we already have a thread going on NSV's...it hasn't been posted to in a while, but this will do nicely too! 1. I painted my toenails yesterday, all by myself 2. I am now wearing the smallest clothes in my closet 3. I wore two SKIRTS to work this week. I forgot what my legs looked like! LOL 4. Sitting down and seeing a waistline. Used to be rolls of fat I'd call my "shelf" 5. Crossing my legs - BIG ONE!!!

I was banded here in Portland Oregon on 2/13. I was so concerned about the gas and for some reason I had NONE! I couldn't believe it. My nutritionist told me to mix my Soups etc. with 2% milk for a little extra fat the first few weeks. Makes it a little heartier. I had some tomato soup with 2% and mixed in a couple tbls. of grated parmeson cheese and it was fantastic! Glad to hear you are doing well fellow bander!! Marie

A little history about me. I started this process about 6 weeks ago and have had my initial appointment with my surgeon, my nutritional class, EGD (good with the exception of a small hernia which is good news since I am self pay). My only requirements left (since I am self pay) are my stress test (scheduled for next Wednesday) and sleep study which is scheduled for this Wednesday. Once I get those results back we can proceed with scheduling my surgery date. Right now if everything goes well I will be looking at the first of August. I asked my surgeon during my initial appointment if there were any concerns as my recent blood work at my PCP came back with a TSH level of almost 7. I currently take thyroid medicine and have for about 10 years. He said there were no concerns and we moved on to the next topic. The more I search these boards the more I am worried that my surgery will be delayed until my TSH levels are normal. My thyroid meds were recently increased and I am scheduled for new blood work the first week in July. My question is...did anyone else have their surgery delayed because of high TSH levels?

Surgery Monday, hubby just left for Iraq....
Doxie replied to PUDGY's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:w00t: Hugs for you. My hubby deployed 1 week after my surgery. I didn't get to give him any good send-off sex . I keep him updated with pictures each month and we talk on the web cam several times a week so he gets to "see" me then. He'll be home next month for his R&R leave. I do have one kid at home still but he's old enough to feed himself and I do some cooking but it's nice not to have the pressure of cooking a big dinner for hubby and trying to figure out my new eating style...gotta look for the positives. Do you have someone to help you with the kiddo for those first few days after surgery? Keep busy and time will fly by and he'll be back home before you know it. I can't believe it's been almost 5 months for us already. -
Lap Band removed 11/2015, Sleeved 9/8/16
MonaBr5 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looking for experienced lap Band to sleeve conversions. I had my Lap band removed 11/2015, Sleeved Sept 8,2016! I’ve lost maybe 1 pound or 2 lbs, since being home this week/ 8days post op. I’m starting to think-this sleeve will not be a rapid weight loss for folks like me who had a band for (2006-15!!), so WOW 9 years. My weightless was low, at 45 lbs, in the beginning , but I Know it kept me for gaining. Then once removed back to my original weight of 250. Do you Ex-banders have as much success as the other newbies? Thanks all! I’ve been creeping here for months, glad I finally signed in. -

theshrinkingchef replied to triciavr77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Apparently some people get it after the surgery. It usually last a few months. I'm there with you. I never had it before, but I do now. I had it really bad week 2 into three. I started eating slower and it seems to have subsided. I keep xantac around tho. I'm going into week 4. -
Hi Everybody, I was banded on 9/29/08. My first fill is on 11/04/08. I am a little nervous and am always wondering if I am doing the right things. The dietician says I am doing fine but I have not lost any more weight in the last few weeks. I think this site will be of great help with the journey.
