  1. To begin with, I am 2 months post op and have had a great recovery. I am one of those people that RARELY get on a scale because I know I will obsess and pretzel brain twist over the number. I don't even own a scale to be honest. Anyway, my husband and I were going to dinner last night...and instead of wearing my usual black stretchy Pallazo Pants or Yoga Pants that I desperately attempt to dress up...I decided to try an old pair of jeans on in order to "gauge" where I am (I have a closet FULL of my "thin" clothes that I could just never get rid of). Much to my amazement, the jeans FIT! They were a size 14...but they fit! And not like "busted can of biscuits" fit, but actually FIT. My ultimate goal is my size 8's that are also collecting dust in there...but dang this was a start! I haven't worn those jeans in over 5 years. I haven't worn ANY jeans in over 5 years. Once I outgrew those...I threw in the towel and gave up. What great motivation....I cried.

    NSVs

Congratulations! Great NSVs. Over if my friends said the "you're tiny" comment to me recently and it felt odd, yet fun to hear.

    Early NSV!!

You go Amanda!!!! I love those surprise NSV's!!!!!!

    Early NSV!!

Amy, I love the name change! And congratz on your NSV! I'll have to keep that term in mind, it's new to me, I'll start looking for my own "NSV's". Now, I know there's a ton more benefits to weight loss than seeing the scale move, but I just love putting the title on it! Then I can stop and enjoy my NSV moments, like you just did :crying: I think today I had something of an "NSV" . . . it wasn't lower weight, but it was diet related. I went and got my hair cut, and all over the salon were open boxes of Girl Scout Cookies, and chocolate kisses. Now, I was a (maybe still am?) "choco-holic", but when I was offered a cookie or a chocolate kiss, I felt **happy** to politely decline! I really didn't miss it, even under my nose like that! Ok, yes, I'm proud of myself here, lol. And more than a little surprised . . . I was worried about today, I thought I'd be drooling for any chocolate. But I'm ok with my diet . . . it's almost like, we made friends! lol  Sorry, I didn't mean to hi-jack your NSV moment with my own story, Amy! I'm so glad you share. This gives me something more to look for. Congratz again!
  5. What a journey you have been on!!! Speech! SPEECCHH!!! Would love to hear a summary of your NSV's and who has said what and get up on that soap box!!! woo-hooo and shout out!!! How absolutely AMAZING you are, what an inspiration!

Gala Pics from Friday. I don't even recognize myself.

Awesome. I was just asked to have my network picture updated because it isn't "current" (it was taken just before surgery). #NSV
  7. I am sitting here in the tub trying to enjoy a hot bath. However, I am trying to find a comfortable way to sit. Where did all of these bones on the backside of my body come from? I keep moving around, but can't find anywhere that doesn't hurt to sit for more than a few minutes. NSV for sure!! What are some of your recent NSV?

    NSV!

NSV - Pre-surgery I would put on an outfit and look in the mirror and first question was "does this make me look fat". Now, 7 months later I can just about put on anything and not look fat. All this hard work has been worth every second,

    A crazy NSV

Yes it's true, I've been Up and Down with my weight for the last almost 20 years. I've never been thin as an adult, only since being a young teenager, then shortly after I got married and stopped doing things to keep myself thin. I gained that weight pretty quickly. You do have a lot to look forward to, and that's a lot less of you. NSV's are my favorites. The scale going down is nice, but I'm telling you, it's the little things that keep reminding me that I'm doing mighty fine. Good luck!!!

    Sharing a huge NSV 😊

Seriously, I keep trying to contrive a reason to fly somewhere! But a lot of places I could fly I'd need a rental car, and they're rarer than hen's teeth and more expensive than Fabergé eggs when you do find them. But it is on my list. I got to check off one of my Purple Goals (my list of NSVs) yesterday—I had a business lunch and arrived second, and my lunch date had gotten a booth. Normally that would be a huge embarrassing thing because I couldn't have fit at all. Yesterday I just scootched right in there and actually had to lean forward over the table to eat what little I did eat.

    Very discouraged

Remember the scale is not the only sign of your body changing! Measure yourself: neck, bust, hips, waist, thighs, and arms (at the bicep and forearm). See how much looser your clothes are fitting... there are a lot of NSVs out there if you look for them even if your are in a stall! The other posters are right this is more mental than physical, stay positive about the path you are on and axe the habits that got you to your old ways. We all fall off the wagon every once in a while but just get back on and keep with the program. 6 weeks is normally the sweet spot where the weight will start just melting away! Keep up the hard work, you can do it, you are stronger than you think!

    Bestest Nsv Ever!!!!

    LapBand VS Sleeve??

I recently read another thread similar to this one - minus the feud - and I feel the same way about this one as I do the other one. There are statistics and numbers out there for every form of WLS on the market. We really have no idea how they actually reach those results and what the inclusive or exclusive parameters are. I think we each have to make our own decision about what surgery is right for us. My doctor let me choose. I chose the band and have not regretted my decision. I work hard at eating right but do allow myself a great treat once a week. I think that, ultimately, this is about the way it works with each type of surgery. I am happy for all of us who have found our own path and for some of us who have had to find a new path because our original path was not the solution. We are all here with the same common goal...to lose weight and keep it off. I think it would be awesome if we could put our differences aside and focus on that one goal. I, for one, am celebrating many NSVs right now since I have lost close to 65 pounds (does not matter what type of surgery I had)! I have more to go but I am diligently working towards my goal. I am excited for those who have lost weight on other surgeries as well! Look how far we have all come!
  16. 28 year old dude here, HW 347 CW 323 GW 200. I get sleeved in 16 days, and I'm on day 6 of 21 days preop liquid diet. Looking for some inspiration, stories, NSV's, pictures! Anything to keep on my cell phone when cravings arise. I appreciate it! Looking forward to wrestling my life back in order and getting over these food addictions and demons!
  17. Hello! To answer your questions, I am eating 1,200 calories a day. My form of exercise is a turbo kick boxing class at 24 hour fitness. Maybe I do need to spice up my work outs. I figured since the instructors are all different, each day the workouts are different and it's a fact. It really is. My clothing size has actually changed! I posted a NSV a week ago about going from a size 24 to an 18. So I do feel it in inches. I just hate how the scale doesn't go hand in hand with it. And thank you for all of your encouragement and kind words. I really needed this support. <3

    Pretty fantastic NSV's

Wow! What an awesome day! Love those NSV's!!
  19. Weighed in at 197 this morning! I'm one week shy of my three month mark and I feel great! Some progress... I actually don't know my starting pant size because I wore sweats the final year before getting sleeved, I didn't wear jeans for probably the better part of two years because I was so ashamed! But the biggest pair I have in my possession is a stretchy pair of 18 pants, but I was at least a 20 Now I'm wearing a size 16 comfortably, with room to spare Again, with shirts the highest I have is XXL because for the last year up until surgery I wore oversized tee shirts and huge hoodies Now I'm wearing between a XL/L, depending on what brand it is It makes me sad to realize I wore the same stuff for a whole year! And sometimes I do get discouraged because I see that with 60 pounds gone I've only changed one shirt and pant size...but then I remember that these new sizes are actual clothes such as jeans and nice blouses, where as before it was sweats and hoodies So today I'm proud of myself, I'm becoming more and more comfortable each day and I know without the sleeve it wouldn't have been possible! I love my sleeve and I am finally experiencing life instead of watching it pass me by plagued by fear! I think me not being so critical of myself might even be an NSV for me lol!

    A crazy NSV

Hahaaa!!! Truly awesome isn't it??? Thanks girlie!! This is so very very true. You hit the nail on the head, because being obese we carry more weight on our shoulders than we do on our whole bodies. Our lives, the air we breath, our every thought is consumed by being heavy. I know that feeling too well wondering if that chair with the sides is going to be able to work on my giant frame. Or if I step on a step stool, will it break underneath me??? - that kind of thing. It's so sad and is becoming more a memory for me every day - but I still find myself thinking like this from time to time. I have to remind myself, that yes - I can fit in those tiny seats at the sporting event and all that kind of stuff... and believe it those seats are tiny!!! Now I'm fitting in them with even a little wiggle room. It's pretty cool. I do really love this NSV because for once in about 20 years, I'm actually being considered of normal size. I never imagined I would be here already barely 6 months out when I was looking up at those lights getting ready to take a deep nap and wake up with no stomach (and no band! ). Cheers!!!

    I love this NSV!

My scale isn't moving much right now, so I'm really looking for NSVs. I went with my son to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, yesterday (a couple of hours from where we live). If you've ever been there, they have miles (OK, blocks and blocks) of subway halls. I've always gotten tired and had to stop and rest on our way to wherever the next appointment was, but yesterday I didn't at all! Yay! My son even mentioned it and was thrilled for me. So I feel great even if the scale is being stubborn! Emily

    No Weight loss

I would just say make sure you increase your calories to around 1200, switch up your exercises once in a while, watch the sugars because they can definitely slow weight loss, keep protein between 70-90g per day, watch the fats (and try to have the majority you consume as healthy fats), reduce caffeine if possible, avoid carbonation, definitely keep fluids up. And after all that, just give it time, have patience, and really pay attention to your NSVs (Non Scale Victories). Those are keeping me sane right now during my VERY long and annoying stall.
