    Belching and indegestion

I would talk to your surgery center. Sometimes belching and pain can be a sign that you're eating too fast, but I would talk to your surgery center to be sure. I know GERD is common after sleeve, but I haven't heard of it being an issue after bypass. Good luck!

Am I really gonna lose weight?

I had the lapband in 2009 and due to complications had to get it removed and got the bypass all fairly quickly and I had the revision on 12/15. I struggled with post op diet until this week when I started to eat some puréed foods but I am just not losing weight. Emotionally really frustrating that I went through all this and not seeing results.
  4. Originally I started at 315, got sleeved in late December 2016, made it all the way down to 195 in about 7 months or so. I had several major issues in a short amount of time, including losing my job, having a health issue with one of my children, starting my own business and then losing it, so I had a lot going on and didn't focus on keeping with the program. When I started my two-week fast at the beginning of November 2021 in preparation for revision surgery, I was about 293.

    Anyone for October 2020?

I am post op bypass 13 months ( surgery was 10/07/2020) ) and am I now drinking alcohol every night . I have gained back a few pounds Like 8 and am scared to death. I feel like I am heading back toward terrible habits and need to regain back control now. I am working with a Psychologist that's not very good for PTSD issues and major depressive disorder. I have got control of that but I have now a new problem= alcohol! A year ago, I would never think of drinking on a week night or much at all but now it's become my new addiction and it leads to me over eating and then the dreaded weight gain. I have now drank every night for the past two months and I can't seem too let it go. This had never been me before as my family is filled with alcoholics and I could never understand it and now I do? It kills pain and drowns out so much. It definitely affects me differently after surgery and takes very little to have any affect at all. I am drunk or affected at sip 3. It is such a great escapism and good lord with Covid and the way of the world all I want to do is escape in a legal way and alcohol is legal. I am on disability and have a lot of pain issues and the doctors and psych's try to say its a lot mental / PTSD/ Stress related but they haven't lived in my body. I have had over 15 surgeries and have had many scars and all kinds of mesh - They don't live this body and don't feel my pain. They tell me I need to learn to live with it. Well hell , I am doing the best I can and alcohol does a great job of dimming that. But I know I need to find a better answer and am looking to my community as I know I can't be alone in my pain or journey. My New Year's resolution is to get back to that person that doesn't drink in response to pain. That learns to deal with it. That get's her weight under control in the meantime. Sending out an SOS to my community and asking for good advice or just shared empathy to know I am not the only one and that we do not travel on this journey alone.

  7. Not to be cliche, but if you think you'll succeed or fail - you're right. You need to have the right mindset going into this. I did very well with my sleeve that I got in 2016, until I started slipping and put it all back on. Five years later I got the revision to bypass 6 weeks ago and it's going very well again, except now I know what to watch out for and how to (hopefully) avoid the pitfalls of last time. Believe that it will work, and do everything you can to help it work, and it will work.

    Vaping after Surgery

It’s okay there is no tabacco or Nicotine involved it’ll be fine as long as you are doing a mouth to lung hit it’ll bypass the stomach it is only flavoring and vegetable glycerin VG is found in almost everything consumable cakes, all other sweets, all canned beans as well. It is the nicotine which is the hardest to quit.
  9. The single incident of dumping syndrome I've had was banana baby food about 3 weeks after my surgery--and I didn't know that's what it was at the time because I have a sleeve and I thought dumping only happened to bypass patients...but I fainted in the bathroom after having made a mad dash due to "urgency". My SO called an ambulance and I ended up in the ER, and it was there after they consulted with my surgeon's office that they told me it was likely dumping syndrome. That was the first time I had sugar after my procedure and I've since been able to eat limited amounts of other fruits (I'm 3 1/2 months post-op now), but I had to proceed with caution when introducing them.

    Revision Jan 6

Had revision surgery on 12/27, I have the physical support but the emotion support of my husband comes and goes. He was not a big fan of me having the surgery but respected my decision enough to be present in my recovery which has been far worse than my initial surgery recovery. I agree tons of support on the boards here. It really helped me through the nerves leading up to surgery. As well as giving me some realistic expectations on after care.
  11. Hey! I'm scheduled for surgery (gastric bypass) in February. I've been relying on protein shakes and some ketogenic friendly sweeteners as meal replacements to get use to drinking my calories instead of eating them. I wanna know if you've tried any of these ingredients post op and how they made you feel: - Vanilla premier protein - unsweetened cocoa powder - Swerve sugar replacement - blended strawberry, blackberries and blueberries (no added sugar) -Isopure unflavored powder -unsweetened almond milk -black beans (not in smoothies, just in general, mashed) Thanks! Happy New Year to you all Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Nausea after bypass??

I am almost 4 weeks post op and have never had nausea until last couple days. Is that weird? It’s not while I’m eating or shortly before or after - could it be dehydration?
  13. I'm so worried and frustrated.. I am really starting to feel more hungry. I workout 2 times a day 25 minutes each round. I put a pound back on. I feel like I'm doing everything wrong! Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Skin

Okay after a long and hard 3 moth decision I've decided to get the bypass after I read about the side effects of my GERD possibly getting worse even cancerous. Anyways my question is when I'm losing weight how do I prevent myself from getting excess skin?
  15. Not everyone dumps. Think it’s less than a third of bypass patients who do. So odds are you won’t dump or it may only happen with excessive sugars or fats when you can’t manage your intake. Many of us are advised to avoid breads, crackers, etc. & only reintroduce them from maintenance. Even if they are allowed on your plan doesn’t mean you can tolerate these types of cabs yet. They can be too heavy & are too filling which is likely why your restriction kicked in.

    Revision Jan 6

Just want to wish you luck! It’s gotta be hard not having the support you need. I’m hoping your revision goes well. I’m having an endoscopic suturing revision for my sleeve that was done in 2012. I lost over 100 pounds and got pregnant a year out. I’ve gone up and down for the past 10 years but never back to my lowest and now I’m close to my high 😩. Hoping for a reset.

    Do You loose weight slower

That should be told to the revision patients, and maybe it is but it wasn’t told to me..If that would have been explained to me my expectations would be different.. “catwoman7” what is a virgin bypass?

    Do You loose weight slower

35 lbs in two months is a lot more than I lost - and I had a virgin bypass and weighed almost 400 lbs. And yes - revision patients typically lose more slowly.
  19. Hi. I’m in the pre-op phase for gastric bypass and am freaking out because I thought my pre-op appt was next Wednesday (1 week before my surgery) but it is this Wednesday. I still have to get my ekg and X-ray done and have the results for that appointment or I may have to reschedule my surgery. How long will it take to get my results to the surgeon’s office if I can somehow miraculously get the tests done tomorrow? Anyone have ideas of how to get the results quicker? Thanks!

    Losing 2 pounds a week

Maybe you're a mobile user so you can't see this, but if you fill in your profile with height, weight, etc. it's easier for people to respond to you. 600-800 cals/day with a mini gastric bypass sounds very low, but again, you could be 4 feet 10 and then it might make sense. Remember, at least for the first year or so, depending on food you eat, we malabsorb calories, too. Much more than RNY patients, who malabsorb up to 150-200 cals/day (no specific studies on a calorie amount exists for MGB patients, but it's a lot more than RNY).
  21. I had 360 lower body lift in Aug 2020 along with brachioplasty. I used products from Marena for both areas. They are medical grade compression garments and recommended by my PS. They were expensive but worth it to me. I wasn't sure what size to order so I waited until after my surgery to figure that out. That worked out fine because I had drains on the lower half for a while and used "ACE" type bandages on my arms until I got my garments. Good luck with your surgery. I'll be having my 3rd and final round of plastics on Jan 20. I'll be having thigh lift and revision of a couple of scars from the previous surgeries.

i'm pre-op, for the second time

I'm curious about revisions. What are the criteria for qualifications for such? Do you still have to be a 40 BMI or just have a complication from original WLS?

    Do You loose weight slower

To be honest with you I thought with the bypass it would fall off, not realistic huh.. lol my surgery date was on the 8th of Nov and I did not loose but about 7 or 8 lbs pre surgery. I didnt understand that either didn’t cheat or anything so this whole journey has really got me baffled
  24. I had mini bypass on November 25th. So I’m 5 weeks post op. SW 237, CW 217. I’m around 600-700 calories a day and only losing 2 pounds a week for the last 3 weeks. Is this normal?

i'm pre-op, for the second time

I too was sleeved but 9yrs ago. I have major Gerd to the point it makes me throw up. I just found out I have a small hiatal hernia. I went for a consult and the surgeon suggested revision to bypass. I lost 100 pounds after being sleeved but have gained about 70 which sucks. How much did you lose and regain? I hope to fix my Gerd but also lose at least 50. I heard it would be a slower processes since I’m still limited when eating.
