So I am 5 years 4 months post op and I got down to my goal weight and then about 2 years ago I started getting my cravings back and started giving into them and started putting the weight back on, I have since gained about 55 lbs back and I am very discouraged, and feel awful. I had a great surgeon that did my surgery, and since my surgery he has left and moved across the country and I trusted him and felt good with him, so after he left I started seeing another doctor in the practice he was in and do not like him, don't feel comfortable with him and so since about a year after my surgery I haven't been back? He didn't seem interested in knowing how I was doing or my progress so I didn't go back, and just kept doing it on my own, but now I am this far and gained weight and I am not happy with myself and I am back to where I was prior to surgery, except I can't eat as much, and as many things. I have made steps in seeing another doctor that a friend of mine referred me to, she goes to this other doctor and she loves her, and so I am going to meet with her and see how I feel. I am nervous that I have stretched out my stomach and I don't know what they can do for that? I am so disappointed in myself, cause I did so good for 3 years and kept it off, and I felt so good, and now these past 2 have just been down hill? Does anyone know if you stretch out your pouch do they do or will they do a revision? Also does that help with the cravings?

New and anxious
Krimsonbutterflies replied to jaymmee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, everything happens the way its supposed to. So, no worries about delay in my program. Yes, I will be able to choose and hopefully my surgeon will be available during the time I'm ready for all of this. I went to visit my friend after her revision yesterday in the hospital and this is very real for me. She has Kaiser too, I'm anxious and nervous. -
February 2019 weight loss buds

5 months post-op today and down 72 pounds. It feels a lot better and I'm having more energy. I'm having trouble with my stomach. I can't really explain it, but is lower and possibly a burning feeling. It comes and goes and only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. My 6 month follow up is in exactly 4 weeks and I will speak to my PA. We discussed it before and she said she would do a scope if it continued. So, I will be asking to do the scope. I take protonix daily, although I have missed it a few times. I sure hope it stops and won't have to do a revision. My Dr wanted me to do the DS, but I said no. However, I guess I might consider if this continues. I still have to lose 84 pounds to get to goal, and definitely will need plastic surgery on my arms, stomach and breasts. Hope everyone is in a good place and may we all continue to do well! Love this group!ππ€ΈββοΈ -
Wow that is weird. I had the revision surgery on July 16th. Hopefully you are doing great.

I had a revision on 7/22 from vsg to RNY. My surgeon (not the one who did my sleeve) said I had tons of scar tissue and my operation took almost 4 hours total. For him it looked like I had a small leak that was never caught from my sleeve. Weirdly enough I complained of pain twice in that area and was scoped and everything seemed to look normal.

Hey yβall! I am 1 week and 1 day post surgery. It was a lapband to bypass revision and I literally cannot stomach anything but water and some Gatorade zero. My tiny tummy and bowels are still hurting and I feel like I may never be able to consume food again. I know itβs part of the process and feeling bummed or depressed about food is very common but I just want to see if the stomach and bowel pain is common. I have no issues going to the restroom because it is straight liquid. I was back in the hospital Sunday into Monday because I ended up with cellulitis in my left side. Any insight would be appreciated.

Had my revision to RNY yesterday. Surgery went well and they also fixed a pretty large Hiatal hernia. Water is going down fine. I keep sleeping with my mouth open & it is royally drying my mouth out. They gave me an anti nausea patch behind my ear that is working like a charm . The pain is also different from when I had the sleeve. More gas in my chest this time & it feels like I did 8million sit-ups, but I know each day will get better. To all those getting revision- make sure you walk laps around the floor and definitely take the main meds. They work! And make sure you ask for sugar free popsicles ! I assume the Dr is going to make me stay an extra night but not sure. Happy I am finally through it and on the road to no more GERD. Good luck to all who will also be going through this!π

Im sure hundreds have felt this way BUT MY BOOBS ARE GONE!

I did have a breast lift, 15 years ago, 5 years after my RNY. 2nd best thing I did after the Bariatric surgery. Girls still look good. Torrid have wonderful stretchy lace bralettes that are not tight but work for providing a little support and they can help you look pretty. They have size 14. I am sure that they have them elsewhere. @Missouri-Lee's Summit It has been 20 years since my RNY. I was working and traveling for work. I, too, had problems with diarrhea. I fasted for 24 hours before a flight because I did not want to have to get up to on the plane, only to be told to sit down. I had a friend lose it and she said it was the worst thing that ever happened to her. Then, I would just worry myself sick over where the bathrooms were where ever I visited. So, I spent a lot of time researching and testing foods. I can not eat any fatty things. Nothing. No ice cream, no soft cheeses, nothing deep fried, no buttery baking. I have to avoid any fatty meat, meat in general. Low fat dairy does not trigger a problem. Trust me, if I know I am going to be home all day, I may have a scoop of ice cream. But I have learned its just not worth it. The other thing I did was pelvic floor exercises. Well, my trainer at the time (a mom of 6), said to do thirty pelvic floor lifts three times a day. Do them while you do the dishes for example. She said, just squeeze your butt muscles like you are trying to stop a fart. "keegles " can also help. (spelling?) I always have Imodium in my purse. I am scheduled for a modification/revision of my pouch and RNY on the 31st of this month. Post surgery, when I can have blended foods, I will add oatmeal(tablespoon uncooked) and brown rice (tablespoon cooked) to my meals as that slows things down. Maybe that will help? My Mom and several relatives had IBS, and they have not had bariatric surgery. I think I am just an IBS person with bariatric surgery, so I need to be extra careful. Good luck.... -
Wow thank you! Such nice words i appreciate it. A lot. Trust your surgeon. I was fortunate that insurance wasnt an issue and covered the revision. Quickly.

Truly happy for you and the speedy recovery!! I felt your denial and pain of going through a second surgery in your posts and I'm glad you were awesomely rewarded by a quick recovery. Full disclosure: TBH, I keep going back and forth between the sleeve and the bypass as it's a very difficult decision to make. I'm deathly afraid of GERD and sincerely your need to revise got me hopping to my surgeon's office. She continues to insist that the sleeve is still a great fit for me so I'll trust her judgement. I'll say that how you handled everything has been a class act[emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122] and dare I say, if the worst happens with my journey, I hope I handle it like you[emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji108][emoji108] But let this thread continue, it's a joyous thread that I look forward to daily......okay, hourly[emoji1][emoji1][emoji1] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

What made you realize you needed a revision to your roux-n-y surgery
ValerieInMexico replied to Polishanita1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I did not even know it was possible until someone told me about their procedure. This person had a revision and lost 50 pounds. I consulted with her surgeon, wondering what he could do to help me with gastric reflux and making my stomach pouch smaller. He explained the choices and then made a recommendation. Really, I would not have thought of it on my own, but now I am excited. My RNY did help me loose 100 pounds, 19 years ago and I kept 80 or so off, so it was successful. I just want to go further and he will see if there is something he can do with the reflux. -

I am as usual late to the thread. So glad that you are healing and up moving about! Thank you for a few laughs as my freezer is full of Popsicles that are all mine... recovering from some nasty complications following plastics which has had me on the popsicle pity party for the last six weeks. Also it is excellent that people are beginning to speak of revisions and some of the long-term decisions post WLS. Yes I initially gained 15 pounds after surgery and Iβm down to eight lbs but am still draining.... -
Nervous! Sleeve to RNY revision tomorrow π³
GreenTealael replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi I was just revised a week ago and i have the same amount of lapro port sites, and hospital stay was the same length. But obviously the specifics of the two surgeries are very different, even more so because your anatomy is already altered. Recovery, for me, has been much smoother so far because i had realistic expectations about pain management and took care of that immediately. I would say it seems be similar to the intial surgery for recovery, But GERD appears to be gone so far. However IDK about weightloss aspect unfortunately Good Luck π -

We have met our deductibles for the year as well. I wasn't planning on getting surgery but when they told me I could fix my issues with a revision I am all for it. The waiting is impossible! Good luck to you!! -
Nervous! Sleeve to RNY revision tomorrow π³
GingerSlim posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It was 5 years ago today 7/22 that I was sleeved. Like many others- GERD, hiatal hernia & a 30lb regain has me going back for a second chance. I gotta admit, rearranging my guys has me a little nervous. Not sure what to expect as far as recovery the first couple day or how long they will end up keeping me in the hospital. For those who have gone through the same thing- Is it similar to sleeve? Any advice & words of wisdom are greatly appreciated! -
Revision from sleeve to mini bypass 8/2/2019
elcee replied to SassyOne2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Iβm surprised that you are revising to the mini bypass if you have severe gerd, one of the potential side effects is severe bile reflux. Generally RNY is regarded as the best option for patients with GERD -
Hi Everyone, How did everyone's surgery go? I am scheduled for my revision surgery (from sleeve to GB) on July 25th. I deal with GERD and also have a hernia that will be repaired. I am excited and nervous all the same time. But i'm on a new journey in life, I've started a new job and this is just another step in my journey. I'm interested in hearing how my fellow July surgery buddies are doing. Thank you.

Hi there, I am also on the 31st. I am 5 days into my liver shrinking diet, it was tough on day 3 but the closer it gets to surgery day the easier it will be. I hope all goes well on the 29th and you get approved for the 31st. We will be surgery siblings. I am also having RNY. Can you explain what a Pouch revision is? -

ππππ Thanks Everyone ππππ Day 6 post revision: I was going strong with energy, even danced a little in my bedroom yesterday Then the combo of weather and low cals swooped in. I'm exhausted. I don't have a large amount of fat reserve to recruit for energy like prior to VSG so I'm eagerly awaiting full liquids/pureed stage because I have things to do π. Otherwise doings ok, taking the meds/vitamins, drinking fluids, cooking foods I can't have for others lol, managing pain & falling asleep mid conversation π Not a terrible first week π -
Revision of RNY
LostFound21 replied to Notthe1sttime's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Sounds like maybe the surgeon intends to do a duodenal switch or something similar. I attended a WLS seminar and they said that's what the their surgeon usually uses for revision. I have my consult on August 21st but if that's what they suggest I'll go with it.
