I'm 7 years out and have done pretty good with keeping the weight off. I haven't stayed at my lowest but my surgeon said it's totally normal to gain some weight back. I'm going in on Tuesday for a revision to bypass due to severe GERD. I'd love to drop and keep off another 25 pounds. Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm bringing my smart phone, an extra long charging cord and my noise cancelling headphones for my entertainment. When I had my sleeve I had other stuff with me but didn't touch it. You'll be busy just sipping and walking. I'm having my revision to bypass on Tuesday and don't have much in my backpack. Pajama pants, underwear, socks, a small bottle of my lotion and the pre and post-op information they told me to bring with. I may add a small thing or two but nothing major. It's still Winter here but I'm leaving my Winter coat at home since it's a super short drive. The less we bring the better! Oh yeah, I am going to bring my own pillow, as suggested by my surgeon's nurse. Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app -

My original surgery was MGB, but welcome to the team! We're few, but we're good! How long did they make your bypass, do you know?

PS: I forgot to mention that I also have acanthosis nigricans which is the very unfortunate side of PCOS, anyways I was just wondering if anyone who had the bypass and has this skin condition how does your skin look now? did you guys have to have some type of laser, or any other treatments afterwords so it can fade?

Hey everyone, I have some exciting news, I got approved for gastric bypass this past Monday and, my surgery date is next month on the 22nd. I was just wondering what kinds of exercises that you guys have done and that you've had success in achieving also, I do have PCOS so I was just wondering for my fellow cysters how much weight have you guys lost in 2-12 months and what was your weight loss each month. I was also wondering what types of food did you guys eat after 2 weeks like what could you guys tolerate and, very lastly what can I expect before, during, and after my surgery?

Does Mini Gastric Bypass 'feel' the same as being Sleeved?
lori replied to slimsuz's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi! I'm 3 days out from a sleeve to mini bypass. Right now it feels exactly the same. -
Hello, I had Gastric Bypass on November 23, 2021. I've lost 55 lbs since then and I'm quite proud of that... Is that a normal amount to lose? I've been walking every day and doing yoga when I can... I bought an elliptical but I dont use it as often as I would like.... I keep plateauing. I lost 5 lbs two weeks ago while I was traveling and then now im plateauing again My mom says its because I'm eating English muffin (up to one per day) with cream cheese.... or quesadilla... She says im not getting good enough protein in. I still can't eat many things without vomiting still so I feel I dont have many options. What do you eat? I do also have shrimp sometimes after work or scallops... I can eat out having like kungpao chicken... broth soup... mussels/clams.... but at home I am having a hard time determining good food. 😕 Thank you B

Proximal to Distal Revision... expectations?
Nifer72 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi everyone! I'm scheduled for my revision on March 21, 2022. I had my original surgery 21 years ago! My sw prior to the first surgery was 375, in the first year I lost 100lbs getting down to 275... my lowest weight since then was 248 due to an illness. I've bounced up and down between 250 and 280 since then. I am a diabetic, have Gerd and was just diagnosed with very slow motility (my pcp says gastroparesis but my surgeon just says slow motility). When I started the process for revision (7months ago) my surgeon didn't think insurance would cover for just weight loss, but with further testing we discovered the digestion issue, his tune changed and surgery was approved! I know a lot has changed with protocols in the last 21 years! I see my surgeon next week for pre-op so I will be asking him a lot, but wanted to find out from anyone who's had the proximal to distal revision as well: What was the recovery like for the distal revision compared to the original surgery? Did you have to spend anytime in the hospital? My surgeon already mentioned he does it outpatient and I should go home same day, which seems crazy to me! I know weight loss can be slower with a revision. How much did you lose and in what timeframe? Any other pieces of advice? I plan on strictly following the food phases that the nutritionist gave me and leaning toward the longest of the time frames she gave me... ie 2-3 weeks post op liquid, 4-8 weeks soft foods etc... I am determined to lose and get to a goal weight of 155-175 which my surgeon said was possible in our initial meeting 8 months ago. -
Hi Im a bit worried I am able to eat too much. I have had very little guidance from the dietician since my gastric bypass but have just emailed them for advice. Im concerned that I am able to eat too much for 8 weeks post bypass. Tonight I have had a 2 egg omelette with cheese and ham and plum tomatoes. I ate maybe 1/2 -3/4 of the omelette and 2 tomatoes. Is this too much do you think? I feel full but not uncomfortable.

Advice for Sleeve Surgery February 28th
gabbykittyvsg replied to chowell12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've gotten great advice so far and I don't have any practical advice to add. I would like to say, enjoy the process as much as you can. I know it sounds weird but when I had my sleeve surgery 7 years ago I rushed things and kept thinking about the next step. For my revision to bypass on Tuesday the 1st, I treated myself to new pajama pants to take to the hospital, I bought exciting flavors of protein shakes. My backpack is going to be light... Phone, long charging cord, lip balm, my noise cancelling headphones to help block out some of the hospital noises, my 3 ring binder of surgery info, pajama pants and not much else. I've had 2 endoscopies and another unrelated procedure in the past few months and I did much better with letting myself relax. Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app -
Yes. I can have yogurts, shakes broths. I'm getting the sleeve. I was set on the bypass but my doctor was concerned about my iron levels long term. So we switched to sleeve. It's next Wednesday! 😀

What Led To Revision
Nifer72 replied to dennydenco's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had gastric bypass 21 years ago. I wouldn't say it was a failure that's leading me to the revision as I lost 95 lb and I've kept it off for 21 years. With that being said, I do have more weight to lose about another 75 lb and I've developed issues with GERD and severe motility issues so my surgeon thinks that a revision will help resolve these as well. -
How often does a sleeve need to be converted to bypass?
Meg3722 replied to Pabc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It just so happens I was doing a bit of light reading this week on the ASMBS.org website. I discovered stats on bariatric surgeries including revisions. Check out this link to the ASMBS site: https://asmbs.org/resources/estimate-of-bariatric-surgery-numbers When you take in the numbers holistically. Revision rates are climbing rapidly. -
