Progress at 7 weeks with pics--and NSV (whoop whoop)
1gorgeousgodzilla posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm seven weeks post op and I have a looong way to go, but your pictures are an inspiration to me. i took some pictures this weekend and compared them to what I looked like only few weeks before my surgery (8/19/13). Can't believe the difference already and can't wait to see what I look like by new year's. Also flew this weekend and it was the first time in YEARS that I fit in the seat without making the armrest pop up or having to practically jam myself against the window side so that I wouldn't "ooze" over to the adjoining seat! Flying has been a huge source of anxiety for me-so grateful for my sleeve!- 15 replies

Tried on a leather coat that was given to me 2 months ago and it did not come close to me being able to button it up....Well...Today I slipped it on and buttoned it up...It is still snug but I still buttoned it up....Can't wait to wear it...It is a large.....unbelievable! A red coat that I worn 3 different times in my life I have been able to wear for the last month.....Each time I wore it was a decade a part....Today it has become to big for me...The other 2 times it became to small for me...Guess I will have to send it to the thrift store....Oh dear! I am very happy with this situation!

So, my husband and I decided to invest in some 6 flags season passes that go through fright fest this year and next. I went to fright fest this past Saturday and was terrified and have an underlying fear of being turned away from rides (since it happened at my highest weight) but now that im over 120 lbs lighter than my highest I thought id give it a shot and guess what? I rode all the rides my heart desired without any issues or embarrassment. it was probably one of the single greatest moments of my life. To someone who has never had to worry about it, it would seem silly, but to me it was like winning the lottery. I loved it so much that a friend and I went back to six flags on sunday for a few hours so I could experience it all again. (we're actually going again the 26th!) This is definitely my greatest NSV--- why don't you share some of yours that keep you going when things get tough?

NSV's: Promotion at Work and Deciding who to date...
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Disclaimer: I am not bragging, I'm celebrating the changes in my life and giving newbies a couple of things to look forward to. I had no idea 50lbs and 3.5 months would make such a difference. I just got the news that I'm being promoted and have a FAT salary increase (after 9 years and very hard work that has gone unnoticed/unappreciated) and I'm trying to decide who to date. I know my promotion has a lot to do with the weightloss. I work in a male-dominated industry (oil and gas) and only attractive women seem to get good breaks in the office environment - just being honest, I am NOT bragging because I think I'm just regular!!! It also seems that I meet a new guy every other day and while it's easy to weed many of them out, I have three excellent prospects and I wish I could hang on to all of them. I am fully aware that two of them would not have given me a second look before I lost this weight and this will likely have some bearing on my final decision. But, it feels great to be more attractive again and to feel people staring at you from a distance...and you know why. It's also nice to hear "you're the perfect size now...don't lose anymore weight". I'm still going for 19 more pounds and hope to get there by the end of the year. -

should I feel my port?
Debbie3sons replied to noonie79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By the way the pull that you feel is the muscle you didn't use or knew we had and it will pull here and there so it is normal and I couldn't feel my port at the beginning either , tho it is buried way down as I am losing weight I feel it more and ore specially if I am full and believe me I know when I am full or the stop signals begin , you will get scared, worried , and then before you know it you will be having nsv's and working with the tool as we all have to learn as our journey's continue. -

I actually jogged on the treadmill tonight at an incline... granted it was only like 30 seconds to a minute, but I did it. I am very excited for myself.

Patience.... The Good, The Bad.... The Ugly
Macy6 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am human.... I know crazy. I am also am emotionally fueled female who wants things NOW! and I don't want to wait. When I started pursuing this journey I read and reread this forum, and others, I attended, and continue to attend support groups and I have read many books. I knew coming into this that I would be an individual, that I would go at my own pace, my own personal path and that I shouldn't ever compare myself to others. It is so easy to say "If I just knew my future, and where this journey leads me than maybe I could relax and enjoy the ride" except I can't! I am not moving at the pace I thought, or hoped I would when I started. I have no regrets, I love my sleeve, I love that I can go out to lunch with my family and be satisfied eating 1/3 of my meal, that a mear 3oz of Protein can sustain me for hours. I love that I don't struggle with Water, because I love my water.... However it is difficult to lose 1.8# in a week, when I know that I should embrace the loss and be happy that up until this point (7 weeks) I have not plateaued, stalled, or gained in any given week. Last night my best friend sent me this..... Dear Patient Girl, You knew when you started on this path towards your goals and your dreams, staying on the pathway that's meant just for you, that sometimes the road was going to get rough, that things would not always be fun or easy, and that you were willing to sacrifice whatever it took to get there. So why is it, gorgeous friend, that when things do get tough or boring, or when sacrifice is required, that we somehow forget and think that things must not be going exactly how they are supposed to be going, when we knew when we started that there would surely be days like this? Don't let the tough times get you down. They are part of the journey, and they are temporary. Learn what you can while you are in those times. But most of all, be patient, and let yourself remember that you knew this would happen, and you knew that you could and would make it. And you will. And you ARE. It will be worth it. You are so loved. ( ) Total Loss: (Since 5/13) 47.8# Since Pre Op Diet: (8/17/13) 35.8# Since Day of Surgery: (8/27/13) 25.8# NSV: Gone from a size 26 to a loose 20, run up stairs without getting short of breath, do an hour of cardio like it is nothing, finding bones I didn't know existed! Last night.... I was laying in my bed and I scratched my side and felt a lump... I was like OH MY GOSH so I felt again and it was my rib!!! MY RIB!!! -

That was a big NSV for me too. I went on Vacation in August 5 months after my surgery and I went to a hotel and used a towel and it wrapped around me like a normal person. And I got calf high boots with no need to worry about getting extra wide calf and in fact they are too loose on top. Super happy for you I know how it feels to have things like this be big events for you! -

What made me happy today was that I went in for a nutrition appointment and came out with a tentative date for my surgery....December 18. So, there is light at the end of my tunnel. One endoscopy, two appts., two weeks of liver shrink and ta da...losers bench. I am so excited. I never thought about the towel thing. I have those big giant bath sheets, too, because regular towels don't get the job done. I will be looking for that as a NSV! -
I have yet to get a new belt for work. I just keep adding holes to my old one. Today for fun I buckled it to my pre surgery hole. Loved the results think I'll keep this belt as long as possible just for motivation.

Great NSV! Congrats! What made me happy today??? Well, my A/C was broken (not happy), but I didn't sweat at all (happy!). Before I would've been found fanning myself in a puddle of sweat shoveling ice cream into my mouth. -

My Favorite NSV's are: Not having to ask for an extension on an airplane Walking down an aisle of an airplane without apologizing for almost knocking someone out. Getting off the coach on the first try Crossing my legs Getting dressed without sitting down Being able to ride any coaster at an amusement park Not having to worry if the ladder is going to hold me or not Tying my shoes without almost passing out. Taking the golf ball out of the hole without getting on my knees first Having the grand kids get tired before I do Leaving food on the plate without feeling guilty -
This past week made 4 months since my vertical sleeve gastrectomy.... Sometimes I can't believe it's real. As of 2 days ago, I am 75 lbs down since my surgery weight. And I feel FANTASTIC! This is absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself. PS: Are y'all still getting the error messages for blogs / gallery??. I'm just dying to update! LOL I have pics of what I've been eating as well as some NSV pics that I can't wait to share.

NSV! On my smartphone, I took a picture with my new Royals shirt on. My husband saw it and asked me to send it to him. Then, without me knowing, he sent it to Walgreens to be printed and then taped it to the bathroom mirror with the word "hubba, hubba, ooh-la-la!" :-)
